I just finished the DSLR Video Boot Camp at BAVC with Keith Battle. Keith is an amazing instructor, and BAVC is a wonderful facility. I Love BAVC!! I can't see how I could have had a better first experience at BAVC than I had in Keith's class. BAVC is a top notch, community serving organization.

BAVC is so cool. I feel so much smarter and have gained so many skills from their classes. I took the DSLR boot camp and podcasting class so far, and have learned so much about digital media, production, editing software, and everything in between. The instructors are nice and helpful, and even though it feels really fast-paced (they cram a lot in a few hours), I feel like I m getting a good introduction to a lot of fields I was previously unfamiliar with, which is awesome. Great place, can t wait to take more classes

I attended the Hardly Strictly Networking workshop with Arya and it is the real deal.

If you are like everyone else in the sense that you find any way to avoid networking, this course will help you overcome the non-sense around networking and it'll prepare you to become better at it.

Highly recommended because it's so much fun and Arya has a lot of insight to share with everyone!

My experience with Bay Area Video Coalition (BAVC)...

My experience with Bay Area Video Coalition (BAVC) is through its operation of the San Francisco Public Access television station (SF Commons) Comcast channels 29 and 76 which began in 2009. The future of public access television services in San Francisco has been shaky and uncertain due to unfortunate changes in California State law that have led to drastic cuts to Free Speech operational funding. Public Access is founded on notable 1st Amendment Free Speech Rights and recognition of the otherwise almost complete monopolistic dominance of corporate funded television on San Francisco broadcasting. San Francisco Public Access television, through BAVC, has managed to CONTINUE to help allow the voice of the less technically savvy, less corporately influenced and funded San Franciscan express themselves! My experiences especially with both Philip Jackson and Andy Kawanami, SF Commons Independent Media Associate and Manager have been deeply impressive. Both gentlemen have an impressively broad understanding of the complicated manner in which the broad range of media they receive has to be prepared for SF Commons Public Access broadcast. They are extremely patient and laudably expressive in dealing with a dizzying variety of would be Public Access producers such as myself. My hats off to these fellows and to BAVC for recognizing the important and complicated role these two talented fellows play in the continued operation of Free Speech broadcast in San Francisco for the benefit of EVERYONE!

I recently visited BAVC to inquire about signing up to be a community producer and was personally Guided by the Outreach Coordiinator, on a Monday which is usually closed to the public. He was very comprehensive and effective and efficient in helping me very quickly identify what I needed to do and he extended his research even further to do all the things necessary in enabling me to expedite this process and in a financially affordable way. I felt very welcomed to buy this and encourage to move forward and I believe as a result I will be joining up soon!

I love this place!

The instructors and staff are very kind and they'll actually take extra time to help you.
There's free snacks, water, and a clean restroom!
There's also free career workshops, multimedia programs, and coding classes.
I learned game design and JavaScript here!
