Vick theChick Review of Bay Are Video Coallition
My experience with Bay Area Video Coalition (BAVC)...
My experience with Bay Area Video Coalition (BAVC) is through its operation of the San Francisco Public Access television station (SF Commons) Comcast channels 29 and 76 which began in 2009. The future of public access television services in San Francisco has been shaky and uncertain due to unfortunate changes in California State law that have led to drastic cuts to Free Speech operational funding. Public Access is founded on notable 1st Amendment Free Speech Rights and recognition of the otherwise almost complete monopolistic dominance of corporate funded television on San Francisco broadcasting. San Francisco Public Access television, through BAVC, has managed to CONTINUE to help allow the voice of the less technically savvy, less corporately influenced and funded San Franciscan express themselves! My experiences especially with both Philip Jackson and Andy Kawanami, SF Commons Independent Media Associate and Manager have been deeply impressive. Both gentlemen have an impressively broad understanding of the complicated manner in which the broad range of media they receive has to be prepared for SF Commons Public Access broadcast. They are extremely patient and laudably expressive in dealing with a dizzying variety of would be Public Access producers such as myself. My hats off to these fellows and to BAVC for recognizing the important and complicated role these two talented fellows play in the continued operation of Free Speech broadcast in San Francisco for the benefit of EVERYONE!
