The food is good and the service nice and helpful, but it was so dark by broken lamps and the like that we could only see our food and the menu with the help of our phones. According to the ministry, the problem was known all day, but ... why was nothing done about it? Two extra candles on the table had already helped a lot. We are now E 225 poorer, but have not seen what we ate. This really detracts from the taste experience. You do not see how your plate is made up. Sin! We were really at Baut and not at'Dinner in the Dark '. You also have to pass the OPEN men's toilet to get to the ladies toilet. This is even better arranged at every petrol station. So gross! Also not as self-evident bread on the table, but E 5.50 for a mini roll that you have to share with 4 people ... and so we can continue for a while. Baut suffers from self-indulgence, which will quickly turn the other way if not taken.

Baut Amsterdam
After visiting the other Baut locations we also felt like being pampered by the always excellent staff of this restaurant, unfortunately it was a huge disappointment for us. On Friday evening a DJ turns out to be playing, which is great fun but it totally ruined the "eating experience" for me, we don't go out to dinner to a club. Upon arrival we could not understand the host, shouting I had to make myself known and then be led to our table by another colleague. We arrived at the top of the stairs (above the kitchen) in a drafty corner. A normal conversation was not possible at the table, you are forced to sit side by side on the couch if you do not want a hoarse voice the next day. So far the ambience. The food was a bit of a damper, the Tagliarini was sandy and cold, the salad we chose swam in the oil. The fries, on the other hand, were tasty and the porcini mushrooms (for us a classic) were again not disappointing. There was no dessert menu and because we could not understand the service very well, we had only "chosen something". It was something with blood orange, not in itself wrong but just not my taste. The wine with the food was very tasty but unfortunately the knowledge of the service was not particularly good so we chose a trusted Sauvignon blanc while we would have liked to be surprised. In short, quite a disappointment for what we were used to from Baut. The concept has been worked out for us. Unfortunately.
Friendly and quick staff. We had a walking dinner, with various small portion bites. All were very tasty.
Magnificent, ingredient used are fresh and the combination are something that is very unique to the taste buds. Would definitely recommend their 4 course menu. Dish 1 Raw sea bass Dish 2 Fish Dish 3 4 slice of beef, cooked to balance between raw and done, with asparagus Dessert Watermelon sorbet, cheese cake with strawberry paste on the side (it tasted a bit too sweet for me)
Just eaten deliciously with children for the second time! What a party again .... mmmm ...
This is the second Baut location I have tried and it succeeds again on every level. Food was excellent, the 'pop-up' building in the East was very funky and the staff were fast and friendly. We had a 3 course lunch with a Groupon voucher which made it extra good value! Highly recommended!
This is an absolute must, cool hip location, with a nice twist! Enthusiastic smooth reception with a personal touch! We took the chef's 5-course menu and were completely surprised! All the dishes were a feast for the eyes in terms of shape and presentation and also top of taste! With the adapted wine assortment, this all came out great! Operation is very professional and thoughtful! PS I reported that my wife is pregnant beforehand, this was also creatively solved in the kitchen! Price / quality ratio is top! This is a hip star level restaurant!
Delicious food, beautiful products, nice wine, nice ambiance
Delicious eaten for restaurant week. Drunk delicious red wine. But they cannot prepare fries (unfortunately). Rather greasy, probably completely fried in old fat. Staff very friendly and helpful.
We enjoyed A WONDERFUL meal here for our RE/MAX Canadian group Dinner pre-event to #Reucon18! We had the entire 2nd floor of the restaurant for ourselves; with well over 78 attendees for dinner. Everything including the dessert was delicious, and the waiters were AWESOME of explaining what was being served with each course!
Great food, friendly service, really great. But there is a lot of noise, of animated guests and the boom of music ... (maybe a generation issue?)
Great location (pop-up restaurant moving around) with nice interior. The food started out great but lost momentum - friendly staff.
Loved the food. Yes the portions are small, but with 3 courses and 1 dessert to share I was stuffed. Our waiter was friendly. For one of the courses I didn't know what wine I would like, so we got a quick wine tasting of 5 different wines so I could pick. The chairs however are horrible! Please pick different chairs, because you can't sit on these comfortably for an entire evening.
Great food, service and wine with enough innovation to keep it interesting and challenging yet accessible. Edgy design approach without being pretentious. Rare for Amsterdam: it delivers both style and substance at an appropriate price point. For me, this is what modern fine dining should be.
Great food and friendly and professional staff. Be surprised with 3 or courses and half glasses of wine and you don't need anything else!
Delicious eaten and a week later still enjoying. Bram had a lot of knowledge about the wines and dishes and took perfect care of us. Highly recommended to treat yourself here to a fantastic evening in a modern but cozy atmosphere!
Partly because of the hospitality of Mariette had a wonderful evening! (And the food was also blissful)
lunch Bar
We went there for oyster hour, delicious oysters and wine, nice music & good atmosphere.
In this case you come right in nicely. Cozy but bold interior with distinctive colors. Good reception at the door. First half hour a cocktail at the bar and ordered some oysters. Really a nice and inviting bar for a restaurant and the bartender was also good company. Then at the table in a cozy corner with an overview of the whole thing. 3-course surprise menu from the chef .. Finger licking good! surprising taste combinations and perfect balance of different structures. Knowledgeable staff with a very sharp floor manager. A large part of Amsterdam's catering industry can still suck a tip here. Keep up the good work!
This restaurant was on my wish list for a while and we were not disappointed. Food was good, the athmosphere great but we were especially impressed and pleased with the top service from the team working there.
We have eaten the 4-course surprise menu and that delicious! Operation fine and nice, could have been a little faster sometimes. Only thing we regretted was that there was no meat as a main course (and red wine) in the menu. We would have liked it a lot better if we had the fish as a second course and then a piece of red meat for the head with a red wine. To get a cold mushroom dish after the steak tartare with fairly the same flavors and structure, it seemed to us as if we ate almost the same on both courses.
Sandwiches on the lunch menu were quite nice. The quinoa salad, however, was way too small and not very interesting. The building was quite nice, cool atmosphere.
Nice, attractive restaurant with competent and friendly staff. Suitable for an intimate dinner as well as for large groups. Kok likes to think along with people with allergies. Dogs allowed and parking is easy nearby.
Pop-up restaurant open till December 31 2014. Good food! Lovely terrace and cool rooftop terrace.
Hosted our company Christmas party here. Staff was very nice and accommodating. Venue was spacious.
Nice place with an affordable lunch menu. When I was there during the summer holidays it was not too bad with the crowds, but assume that you normally have to make a reservation. The sandwiches (I had salmon tartare, tip) are good. The service was a bit grumpy or broke (August 15).
I picked this mainly because it is just across the road from the hotel I was staying at, and even at just before 6pm when I walked past, the place seemed very vibrant. I had the chefs menu and each dish was great. Staff were friendly and explained everything to me in English. The beef cheeks are amazing, so are the fries.
Bautzuid has been opened after the original Baut bad to shut down. In contrats to the cozy feel of the older one this has a more open clean feel to it - which I like a lot. However at the same time its quite large. It really fits well close the business district in Amsterdam. I've visited on several occasions, most notably their Oyster events, which keep getting better.
Review 2 (June 21 - 2019) The start of exibition with Elysanne Schuurman #elysanne (really love her art) together with good music (DJ in the house) and of course really good food. A little more people than expected, some delay in getting our table but service was excellent, she made the difference, so we go from 4 to 5 stars. We'll be back -x- P. Review 1 (Sept 15 - 2018) Only took the dessert since we already ate. They were really good. Next to excellent service stunning place. Pop up number 6 for those guys. They seem to have a good eye for places but also style, people, service and the most important thing ... good food
Ordered bitterballen at the RAI today. Some of them turned out to be cold, can happen of course. When I indicated that, the same balls were reheated, which is not nice ... Hard bitterballen that are half empty. Bad!
Staff very friendly and also took the time for you. Ideal waiting time between courses and the food was also very good. Recommended!
Wonderful flavors, but not the place for Burgundian eaters.
Only been here for events. Very well arranged. Good draft beer and always delicious snacks.
Absolutely amazing pop up restaurant. You won't be disappointed
Very nice pop-up restaurant, good service, food and atmosphere
Good food, nice ambiance, good service! Only downside was that the hostess was uninterested and unkind. But apart from that a top night!
We told them 5 times about a food allergy. They said it was all good. Came around with chicken bites, again the waiter said it wasn't in there. First bite, bingo, it's in there and I have to go home and get antihistamines.... Food allergy is no joke and apparently they don't know what's in their food. 1 star
Service was not really efficient and food was ok but expected a lot more from it.
Very cool concept. Nice dishes. Good service. Make a reservation.
Underground contemporary music and art. Didn't got to try the food this time but the previous experiences were spot on. Five stars
Yesterday personally visited to make a reservation. I put my car in front of the door (is just a car entry) was a Citroen garage last week so they are used to cars there I assume. There is one Lucas in a black t-shirt eating at the bar. I walk over to him and ask if I can make a reservation. He looks at me with an arrogant look and tells me that I first have to get my car away. I say excuse me? "You must remove YOUR car first, otherwise I will not help YOU" While he is eating quietly (and, by the way), I am surprised by his tone. I explain to you that I will be gone within a minute when the reservation is made. My explanation makes no sense. Personal service requirements are set by this serving staff member to make a reservation. After a few sentences back and forth I felt that I was not going to have a nice evening there and I left. I gave him a second chance and called 15 minutes later and got him on the line. First, he posed as "the owner" which is not the case. Secondly, he offered no apologies or anything. I advised him to go back to the Hotel School. If he has already sat on it at all. Food in the Wibautstraat was fine, service further too. In Bautzuid people seem to suffer from the Pauw effect. Staff feels better than the customer. I will eat elsewhere.
The food is absolutely delicious and the service is great (and I m a stickler for good service and I expect a lot). The atmosphere is brilliant. Bram, our waiter, was absolutely fantastic and made us feel right at home. Would absolutely recommend this place. You must come.
Nice atmosphere, great food, and nice location on the Zuidas!
Lovely ambience, live dj with just the right amount of volume and excellent tunes, handicapped toilet, and Rick is the best. Food was excellent. Loved the halibut!
My staff party was here, we reserved the entire restaurant to ourselves which was soooo nice. Interesting decoration and with the low lighting it felt quite cosy even though it's a big space, too bad it was too dark to see the food on the plates Staff are a mix of extremely friendly chaps and knowledgeable youngsters and a few sour faces who should rethink their life path before they end up stuck forever doing something they hate. The food was quite mediocre, and also the quantity was definitely not enough when you're having free flowing drinks late into the night at the same place. First floor is the restaurant and the second floor is a bar/dancefloor/disco/whatever you want to make of it. There's a full bar upstairs where the drinks kept coming out quite fast. Props to the big haired bartender who remembered everyone's drink choices and was fun and engaging all night (sorry I didn't ask your name, man) Overall a very nice experience but only because it was a party. For sure not my kind of place otherwise.
Jesus we had a good meal. Mariette informed us so well and was informative. Great food and good wine. Baut is now one of our top 5 good restaurants.
Good food, nice atmosphere and separate balconies for groups.
Nice space upstairs. Friendly bar staff, limited bar. Very trendy, pretty popular. Seems to me Baut pops up, pushes up the prices & then pops up somewhere else!
Delicious eaten. Not disappointed since the opening. Outliers were the tartare and the beet / burrata. And the Italian chardonnie was a hit
What a great place! Super warm welcome by Bram. We immediately felt at home. And delicious food. Tastiest starter ever.
We were here with the wine food walk, and we received a delicious dish. We will definitely come back!
Went there on a Saturday night. They told us over the phone already that when you're with 6 or more, you'll get a surprise menu. We would rather have a choice, yet also understand it from a restaurant point of view. You can pick between 3,4 or 5 courses. We went with 3. Great starter of tuna and salmon with a sushi rice tartar. Main course was veal, which turned out great. Desert was okayish - not that original. Good wine menu accompanying the food. The thing we couldn't really get our hands around was the vibe, it sort of has an industrial thing going on, but we weren't really feeling it - probably was just us, and the boring crowd that night. Would be interested to see what it's like with just 2 (menu options especially)
Terrible food and rude service: Unable to take a basic order, explain a dish on the menu and my main course was served undercooked, twice! Didn't even respond to my complaint Only go here if you like a cool urban vibe as the decor is nice but stay away if you actually want decent food or professional service
What a fantastic food. 5 courses with a matching wine to each dish. Delicious, refined food and presentation is a feast for the eyes. Our table lady, Mariette, earned a 10 !! Her explanation about the wine was very good. I like to eat again. Jiska
Third time here and still a great experience- the food is consistently and the service attentive. The new location is spacious and has a very nice lounge area too.
Well-prepared food with interesting mix of flavours. Fair choice of veggie options. I had the Poke bowl - an Asian style salad, followed by a mix of courgettes. Both were very good. The chocolate dessert and the strawberry Romanoff were both reasons to return. The building is a large open space requiring creativity to heat or cool. We were a little on the warm side and found the music annoyingly loud.
Nicely decorated, quality food, bit expensive. Well known "pop-up" concept in Amsterdam.
Pleasant food in a pleasant lively atmosphere. Good service.
Nice restaurant, great food, lovely service, strange bed installation...
Fantastic evening, even better food. Ordered the creviche twice! Very knowledgeable wine suggestion by Mariette. Wonderful
Great service from Fleur. We had a great evening with great food and drinks. We are happy to come again!
Disappointing to say the least. We booked a table after having had a look at the menu online. When we arrive we had to choose between 6 dishes , 2 were sandwiches, 2 were salads and one was a "rice poke bowl" as explained by the server. When the poke bowl arrives it has no rice, so it was just another salad. portions were extremely small, they were tasty but we were the to celebrate an important occasion for us and did not really want to have a salad...slow service (15min for dessert...) and expensive for what we got...never again!
Beautiful building, hip appearance, friendly service. Acoustics are bad, we could hardly understand each other. It was also bloody hot inside -> always ask for a table downstairs! The food was tasty but very simple and sparse portions.
Fantastic pop up resto with 3 course set menu. Food awesome and served family style Service little slow. But overall excellent and price very reasonable $35/person
It's only here until the end of 2014, so hurry here and don't miss this excellent restaurant! Medium size plates maken their experimental menu easy to share. Cool setup in this temporary location. Can't believe we will have to do without next year.
It was my first time BAUT and certainly the last! The food was mediocre, everything tasted about the same and everything floated in the fat. Too much sauce and 'truffle'. You pay 14 euros for a small dish that is mediocre. And they try to earn money on everything. 34 euros for a mediocre bottle of wine. The service was ok, the decor was ok but our BAUT visit was certainly not worth it. If you like good food you shouldn't be here!
We have been there November 20 (especially son's birthday) and have card as chef. PERFECT, A TASTE OF CENSATION, EXPLOSION IN YOUR MOUTH. FOREST. 2 THE CHRISTMAS DAY WE ARE AGAIN. FIVE COURSE DINNER. I'm excited.
