The Battersea Power Station is the perfect example...

The Battersea Power Station is the perfect example of how the English are one of the best nations in the world at doing business out of nothing. Taking a ruin, calling it National Heritage, then rebuilding it into something even more grandiose. If you haven t seen it before, I do recommend you to come and see it now, as there s a podium where you can oversee the site and part of the power station being refurbished.

Arriving in London for the first time I found this building the most recognisable for me. It is an extroadinary structure. It's equally beautiful and ugly; powerful and useless. It's a wonderful modernist sculputre which accompanies the Tate Modern down the river and provides contrasting relief from the neo gothic and neo classic monsters on the north bank. Buildings of the people rather than the gentry.I hope they develop it tastefully.

Power Station itself is a national icon. Recent residential development detracts from this piece of history and in some instances obscures it all together! Shame! On the upside new and independent shops and restaurants are springing up which is good for the area in general

This section of London is going to be amazing once the regeneration is complete. Lots of great places opening already. Feels like an open secret as there aren't very many people who know it's already open

We went to take photos of this historic powerhouse ...
In November 2017 the works were on the end, so they did not spoil the view too much.
We got there from Victoria station, in 3 bus stops.
We then left using the river shuttle which has had a dedicated stop for this place for a few months, I believe. A swipe of the Oyster card and paf, direction London center.

The old building off the Pink Floyd album is now pretty well hidden underneath a never-ending building site. Other than that it's one of the most boring places in London. Some soulless restaurants and bars, some shops that don't really sell anything interesting, some half-hearted events a few times a year that aren't worth visiting. On the plus side, the thames clipper stop is quite handy.

The decommissioned power station is a striking building and makes the visit worthwhile by itself. With the new development in the area, there are always new shops popping up. Looking forward to trying the new ramen place next week!

The Power of Summer

The Power of Summer

The setting was glorious, a grassy area beside the looming towers of the power station. There was grown up Jenga, trampolines and plenty of space for lounging about in the late afternoon sun. As with all Street Feast venues the choice of food was vast - Peruvian street food, smoked ribs, pizza and Caribbean were all on offer. I went for a change to my usual and had an incredible Dog from Dog Town (@DogTownLondon) - the special, with spicy onions and a mango, pineapple chilli salsa. The sausage was smoked to perfection and had that perfect snap when you took a bite. My flatmate went for an old favourite of mine - Le Bun (@LeBunUK), those guys know how much I love them! She did make somewhat of an alternative choice and go for the veggie option (she would be the first to tell you of the look of dismay in my eyes when this decision was made!) but it was fantastic a chunky slab of goats cheese between lashings of slaw and sauce in between the perfectly toasted brioche bun. I also bought some delicious spiced chips from Flip & Dip because who can resist fresh chips!! We sat in the shadows of the chimneys for what seems like hours, watching the world go by. The perfect night some would say.

I have omitted to tell you there is also a cinema down by the river. Everyman are showing classics down there all summer there are usually two films on a day! Make sure you check out the website for all their listings, I ve already got a few booked!! The Power of Summer is a one time thing sadly and only open until the end of August so make sure you get down there before the fun is over. It ll be the last time you can get near that brilliant power station before it s redeveloped, which is naturally why I m going to get down there as frequently as possible!!

Nine Elms has been undergoing a massive transformation for the past five years, and is improving bit by bit all the time. The power station itself has been entirely revamped with the new Circus West village area. When events are on such as the recent Seafood Fest, there are food stalls, restaurants, ping pong, choir performances, cinema screenings and many other forms of entertainment which are great for young children on family days out.

A new enterance to the area has recently opened up on the main road leading up to Vauxhall, this has made it less crowded around the original enterance by Battersea Park at Chelsea Bridge. For locals in the area or for those who sign up online, there are tours for exploring inside the power station itself which is currently still undergoing construction after the four old chimneys were replaced. The building itself is something of a cultural icon, being the inspiration for fashion and art for years and is well worth a visit for passing tourists and travellers seeking a bit of history alike. Because there are so many changes being made, it's attracting a diverse range of people and creating lots of new jobs in the area which is very beneficial.

One of the most famous landmarks in London and finally going under a well-deserved regeneration; people keep complaining they can't see it from the train and I will just give them an advice; next time get off the train in Battersea Park Station and come over; you will almost be able to touch it.

A small place in South side of the Tames. There is a brewery which produce the Battersea beer. There are many kinds for all tastes. There is a platform on the Tames which form an artificial terrace. There, you can chill, drink and relax

Who was born in a house full of pain

Who was born in a house full of pain
Who was trained not to spit in the fan
Who was told what to do by the man
Who was broken by trained personnel
Who was fitted with collar and chain
Who was given a pat on the back
Who was breaking away from the pack
Who was only a stranger at home
Who was ground down in the end
Who was found dead on the phone
Who was dragged down by the stone

Concrete City. Soulless high rise expensive flats, far too much concrete around here. Lots of non Londoners buying these apartments and everyone looks utterly miserable. Long dual carriageway makes walking around here feel a little like a USA downtown area built for cars. The area has no character, rows and columns of sparkly new flats, Tesco Metro's and lost turns as you search for the river. My idea of upwardly inner city hell with joggers, 4x4s ' multi coloured concrete buildings and building sites.

Well worth a visit!

About Battersea Power Station Development Company

Battersea Power Station Development Company: Revitalizing an Iconic Landmark

Battersea Power Station Development Company is a leading property development company that is dedicated to revitalizing one of the most iconic landmarks in London. The Grade II* listed building and surrounding area are being transformed into one of the most exciting and innovative mixed-use neighborhoods in the world.

The Battersea Power Station was built in 1933 and was once a symbol of London's industrial might. However, it fell into disrepair over the years, and by the turn of the century, it had become a derelict eyesore. In 2012, Battersea Power Station Development Company acquired the site with a vision to transform it into a vibrant new community that would celebrate its rich history while embracing modern living.

Today, Battersea Power Station is undergoing an ambitious redevelopment project that will see it transformed into a thriving new neighborhood with homes, offices, shops, restaurants, parks and cultural spaces. The development will create over 20,000 jobs during construction alone and generate £20bn for London's economy over its lifetime.

The redevelopment project has been designed with sustainability at its core. The power station's iconic chimneys have been restored using traditional methods to ensure they remain an integral part of London's skyline for generations to come. The development also includes green roofs and walls to promote biodiversity while reducing carbon emissions.

One of the key features of Battersea Power Station Development Company's vision is its commitment to creating a sense of community within this new neighborhood. This includes providing affordable housing options alongside luxury apartments so that people from all walks of life can call this place home.

In addition to residential properties, there will be office spaces available for businesses looking for prime real estate in central London. With excellent transport links via rail or riverboat services nearby as well as easy access by car or bike paths throughout this area make commuting simple!

The retail offering at Battersea Power Station will be second-to-none with high-end boutiques sitting alongside independent retailers offering unique products you won't find anywhere else! There are also plans for restaurants serving up delicious cuisine from around the world as well as cafes where you can grab your morning coffee or afternoon tea!

For those who love culture there are plenty opportunities here too! From art galleries showcasing local talent through exhibitions featuring international artists; live music performances ranging from classical concerts through jazz nights; theatre productions including West End shows performed on-site - there really something everyone here!

Overall if you're looking for somewhere special where history meets modernity then look no further than Battersea Power Station Development Company!
