We were not allowed in because we joined the (short) queue at 3:44. Last entry is 3:45. That is just the way they do it. Be warned! It seemed pretty mean. 4:00pm is surely early to close a church for admissions anyway, let alone turning people away from 3:45 who have already arrived.

Worth a quick visit, you'll be out in 15 minutes. I liked reading some of the memorials and floor stones. Don't miss the sculptures on the front of the building, showing "Jacob's Ladder to Heaven"! (Genesis 28:10-19)
Construction outside exquisite ; inside all right but seems some how basic; A lot of members of staff makes me feel uncomfortable. Too pushy about donations under the "umbrella" of care about what I want to understand in one church.......Surprisingly I now what I want to understand.....that is why the thought with the urge for donations remain in my mind. Large variety of souvenirs at the gift shop.....not cheaply .
We visited the abbey on the 18th December. There was a service on however we didn't realise and we were welcomed in by two lovely staff members. Once we were inside we realised that a service was about to begin. As it would be rude to leave half way through a service and we had a train to catch we were about to leave. Suddenly another woman who worked/volunteered at the abbey asked us why we were there. We started to explain that we'd just come to visit, however she didn't let me finish. Instead she rudely went 'No, leave now'. She then walked to the door and said 'leave now' again. She could have been a lot more politer. She was very degrading! Magnificent architecture in a city full of history, pity about the staff.
The abbey means a church. Bath Abbey means a church in the Bath city. On the way to Bristol area. Bath is famous for its Roman Traditional Baths and the Roman style of building and architecture. It is in the center of bath city. Na this focus fir it's market too. Always fill with crowd and tourist friendly town. Don't miss to visit..
Free to visit the Abbey which has some reno work being done. Still great to visit, especially if you can hear the organ and or the regular impromptu mini-services which are a great idea. Pay to visit the tower, or maybe the payment is to leave, haha.
Open for visits for limited amount of hours, so when open is filled with tourists, not a lot of space inside, plus half of interior is currently closed of because of restorations.
Absolutely gorgeous place to visit. The artitecture will blow your mind. The history and the beautiful windows just scream history and stories over thousands of years. Great staff. Will visit again.
Excellent visit including trip up the Bell Tower and on to the roof - very informative guides. Restoration work going in Abbey itself so some sections fenced off. Shame about the removal of the pews and replacement with chairs.I
Every way and every shadow: The city has a long history, and the distant, not so far, some near time nodes, with the stories carried by the buildings, still exist on the land of the city, and you can find it if you look for it. ; The river is turbulent, less beautiful and gentle; at the beginning of the new year, there is more peace and tranquility; a piece of blue, can not stop staying nostalgic; this is a place with stories, people with stories, buildings with stories; Taste exquisite taste; ascend the horizon and feel the atmosphere of nature; stroll through it and immerse yourself in the glory that day! How beautiful is a city, and how many sides, you do n t forget the time, let go of your sac, measure it with your feet, only a dragonfly hurriedly walked past the water, it was a waste of time!
The tower tour is amazing!! Charlotte and Francesca took us up. They shared their stories about the history of the abbey. The tour was informative with humour, beautiful views (even on the Roman baths) and we could sit directly behind the clock. The guides were very well articulated, knew a lot and super hospitable. Can not recommend enough to take this tour! (And get away from the crowds).
@Charlotte. Thank you for your tips! We really enjoyed the neighbourhood around circus!!
Amazing church full of symbolism and meaning. Stunning architecture incredible art and sculptures. Multiple smaller little alcoves for worship and various ceremonial uses. Whether religious or not, this is an amazing place to visit.
An interesting little church, too bad it was under construction. There is a lot to marvel at and prayer readings in many different languages. I highly suggest putting a few minutes into the Abbey.
A beautiful town with much more than the famous historical Roman Baths. To tour just the Bath Archialogical site give yourself 2 hours minimum at the site proper. I would stay the night and catch the GWR back to London the next day. Wonderful day trip. Average speed of the train was 120 MPH and quiet.
The fan ceiling was amazing - being able to read all the obituaries was interesting. A choir of school children was practising reinforcing that it is still a functioning church for the people of Bath.
Beautiful place - it was only open till 4 because of social distancing so make sure you check the current opening dates. The staff inside were super informative and it s a stunning building . There is some restoration work going on which can t be helped !
Very beautiful, a must see. The windows are beautiful at night and it is worth going inside. The staff are lovely and the children's scavenger hunt was really fun.
