Beautiful place with stunning stain glass windows and wonderful history
Very pretty abbey that sadly I only got to see on the outside because it's not always possible to go inside.
Fantastic small Abbey that is well worth a visit. There was restoration work during our visit, so both the outside and inside of the building were not at their best. Despite this, the Abbey was one of the highlights of our visit to Bath.
Nice piece of architecture but similar to what you can find in London but surroundings are lively here and not filled with obtrusive acts.
Luckily enough to get a seat at the nearby cafe - Mokoko or Cornish for a relaxed and chilled snack whilst enjoying the view.
Very little to see, having said that refurbishment works were taking place at the time of our visit.
It is an amazing place but the donation felt like somewhat mandatory.
Tower Tour is very educational and provides amazing views. The building itself is a work of art
Very beautiful! You can take part in the tower tour, you can see the big clock of the church and you can climb the city.
City's main attractions. It's lovely all year round, specifically around Christmas time !
The Abbey Tower Tour gives you the most amazing views over Bath, go at night for a fabulous atmospheric view of the Christmas market
A great example of Abbey ,just about right size , fantastic vaulting ceiling , don't miss it
A fabulous place to visit. work going on to provide under floor heating. Stained glass windows are excellent and the organ sounds amazing. Looking forward to doing the bell house and towers.
Beautiful but unfortunately was going through some restoration and didn't get to see the organ properly but magnificent all the same
One of the top attractions in Bath. Well worth a visit if you're coming out from visiting The Roman Baths. We visited in mid-December when the whole area was in full on Xmas mode with many shops and stands set up all around. Bustling and full of people, very nice atmosphere.
Even on a manic Saturday with tourists buzzing around everywhere we found this beautiful abbey extremely calming. All the staff and volunteers were wonderful and went out of their way to help the children with their activity sheets. If you are in the area It is worth a visit for a suggested donation just to experience the history of this magnificent building.
Beautiful church from the late 15th century. Has many small interesting details such as stain glass, two smaller chapel inside the church itself and floor covered by gravestones. Would have loved to have more detailed and indepth information on small guide pamflet that was given out for free at the entrance.
I only went in briefly because I always feel that one cathedral is much the same as any other (apart from St Paul's Cathedral, of course, which is out of this world)
Very nice abbey but under a lot of renovation presently which spoils the atmosphere.
Absolutely beautiful. A must visit when in Bath or near Bath.
A pleasant place, beautiful vaults, especially worth seeing when the sun shines through stained glass. Admission is free, and you can get a free tour of full hours. A small souvenir shop adjoins the temple.
I really appreciated the abbey's tour guide, the view was magnificent and the guides put you in the "bath" atmosphere.
You will climb about 200 steps at intervals you will enjoy the view of the Roman baths, the bell tower inside, the exhaustive explanation of the sound bell tower .. And finally at the top the highest tower the view of the whole city of "bath"
Congratulations great service.
Money well spent.
Lovely Abbey but it's currently spoilt by being surrounded by hoardings for some reason.
Wonderful and impressing old cathedral, seemingly untouched by time!
Under construction, but looks brilliant from inside. Wasn't allowed to see from the terrace for a Bath skyline and landscape
The abbey is at the town center of the World s heritage city of Bath. It s not too crowded when we visited this winter. It s free to visit but open for donation. The architecture is magnificent. At night, the light makes abbey even more magical.
Bath Cathedral
Bath Cathedral is a jewel of Gothic architecture.
Similar to the Cologne Cathedral, the builders used the free-standing struts, which give the building stability, as well as the open and airy appearance.
The cathedral is located in the middle of the city surrounded by many small shops, as well as the numerous bath houses and thermal baths.
Directly south of the cathedral is a small but very good Italian ice cream parlor, where the price per ball is really worth it.
The cathedral can be visited for a fee and you can walk around on the roof and enjoy the view over Bath.
During my visit, the preparations for Halloween were in full swing, including in the church square with a skeleton on a tricycle.
Well worth a visit not expensive to get in and very interesting I will return and spend more time in there. Highly recommend.
Not bad so far! Another day to discover the Area, will rate it after Today's Tour!
Rooftop tour is worth the price. So much history!! Loved it
Didn't manage to look inside and some building work outside, but still part of the history of Bath.
This place really shows how Romans impact at the British Isles
Free entry (donations accepted). Part of the abbey is currently being refurbished but there is still plenty to see.
Lovely cathedral Enjoyed the peace and calmness here
Stunning building but not very welcoming staff. When we came in, to view the interior there was service at one point then later some other activities taking place but staff did not advice when we could come back etc. just declared we can't come in. Never mind?
Beautiful windows. A shame a lot of the abbey was cordened off for maintenance.
Soars to the sky, Bath Abbey is so uplifting. All lines lead to God. The plaques of the people buried there are beautiful.
Beautiful area to sit and people watch , with beautiful bath abbey
Superb abey which is worth the detour. Free visit, but a voluntary contribution is prioritized.
Very crowded in the mid afternoon so I didn't line up to go inside, but later in the day it's gorgeous. Right next to the Roman Baths.
The final destination for our hike of the Cotswold Way. And what a historic place to end literally following in the footsteps of many before us. There s plenty to see inside and out the Abbey. The current renovations involve installing underfloor heating and restoration of the gravestones that cover the Abbey floor.
Coronation place of the first king of England - a beautiful cathedral!
A lovely pal of ten heavy bells, and a band of great people to ring them.
Due to work inside an outside, there is virtually nothing to see in the long run.
Beautiful building, the Abbey is rich in history. Walking around inside an overwhelming feeling of mystery and awe took hold. You could spend hours walking through here, soaking up the history of this place.
Thermal water is used to heat the abbey, that's a good way to cut down emissions!
Enjoyed here an organ recital on a Saturday afternoon
Bath is a beautiful and traditionally old city which has maintained its grace and architecture.
Bath Abbey is centuries old and later it was restored.
Its very huge from inside and at a time can accommodate hundreds of people.
There is no entry cost to Bath Abbey. You can spend some peaceful time.
There are few (3-4) souvenir shops just at the back of the Abbey.
The railway station is not very far and you can also walk towards. I continued my trip from there towards Salisbury.
Nice Abbey in the ancient Roman town of Bath to be visited, attend church service if possible, the church organ has an impressive sound!
Beautiful architecture, rich history, friendly and very enthusiastic staff.
A magnificent abbey that is well worth the price of admission. The stainglass windows are remarkably well preserved.
There is a lot to see here so you may want to give yourself an hour or so to look around.
The staff here are friendly, polite and very knowledgeable about the abbey and it's history. There is a guided tour in which you are allowed to go further up the abbey that you aren't able to do without the tour. Of course you have to pay for the tour but that money goes to the upkeep of this magnificent building.
Well worth a visit.
Breathtaking architecture and plenty of knowledgeable tour guides to take you through the whole church. Guided tours or self guided & a gift shop at the entrance.
Very busy as it's a tourist attraction, ongoing work on the inside of the building limits the view but still a very beautiful place to visit.
It was quick drop off just to take a picture. Looks cool. Nice park around it where you can just sit and chill. Not sure if pub or restaurant is around.
A must see location! An absolutely beautiful Abbey with some amazing architecture.
I went to see the popular Bath Choral Society play Handel's The Messiah, last night, it's bitterly cold in there till the heating is set up and the wooden chairs were set out round the works' hoardings. Where I was there was no TV, or heating on a pillar, I eventually went and sat at the back, where it was warmer and there were big TV sets, I sat with the volunteers and paramedic! At the halfway break many folk left, as I did, aiming to watch another version, on You Tube!
Amazing, had the most breathtaking experience climbing up to the top of the abbey to see Bath from a completely different perspective. Conor, our tour guide was amazing and explained everything in such detail, with a little humour thrown in which was simply fantastic.
Good abbey, a fair amount of information, however they are currently renovating the floor. A worthy goal but one that makes off limits about a third of the abbey. However, the ceilings and windows are still magnificent.
Absolutely fantastic place to visit. Would recommend anyone coming to visit bath to go.
Beautiful peaceful building in a busy city. Take a moment to sit and enjoy the splendour.
This was a very interesting but not fabulous church located right in thecoedestrian zone in Bath. The staff of the place seemed more interested in collecting the "suggested" donation than in responding to questions. The stained glass is what made this visit truly stand out. Worth the time to go in.
Been on the tower tour many times now and have always enjoyed it. Very interesting for visitors to Bath. Sometimes there can be a few too many people which in some rooms makes it hard to hear.
Very beautiful church, washing with beauty, you will forget that it is a church, but a beautiful building
