Barona Resort & Casino Review

First time here and it was a very nice, clean casino!! we had lots of fun and won some money!! Woohooo!!!

I'm sure a lot of people have been to this casino and it is one of my favorites. The biggest thing is the actual getting there part. the roads are extremely dangerous getting up and down from that location it is rested on. they give great perks and benefits which is why I like it but don't get me wrong it is very nice for a reason. I'm not sure I even have to State the reason other than I don't think they're giving money away. And when they do, if they do, they make sure it will come back in double with the perks and benefits offered.

A place reasonably priced, good food and you can sit down and relax in a comfortable setting. Staff are clean well mannered.

I go here for the buffet. On Wednesdays, it's all you can eat lobster. So my husband and I got our fill of seafood, along with all the other great food!

Drive is worth it especially on a bike place has a country club feel to it i dig it pays out more then the rest in my opinion

Wish the Tesla only EV charging stations were clearly marked. There's one on 3rd level and 1 on 4th level, all the way at end of charge point EV chargers. Completely non smoking inside++, shut down some machines to encourage social distancing. Temp check as you pull down founders way. Hand sanitizer stained everywhere. They're on outside of entry doors ands on inside of entry doors. Floor markings fir entry and exit and directional to help social distance.

Sage cafe was a bad experience. The chefs need more training on how to make a French dip. The basics

Huge place seems cleaner than most casinos. Smoke-free section is nice. Buffet is ridiculously huge.

Has to be one of the best Casinos in the west. The staff is the happiest bunch of people I have ever been around. The comps and amenities are astounding. The Casino is one of the least smoky I have been to. I dont even live here I come 8 hour drive to get here, it's better than Vegas. The food is awesome and inexpensive.

Lots of table games and slots, great views on the drive. Good food restaurants inside and awesome customer service.

Best Casino in East San Diego area. Friendly employees Great buffet here! Its been newly remodeled. Lots of new slot machines. Good food court. I enjoy the Non Smoking Area myself!

Not a typically casino. We took an UBER there to be safe after a night of drinking. We got there and the only place to get drinks was at the restaurant down stairs. We didn't stay long. Staff was friendly. Didn't win. Probably will not be back but at least we experienced it.

The level of customer service here is better than any casino I've been to. Everyone is friendly and goes out of the way to exceed expectations. They have a great selection of slots and lots of tables. I also feel like I win more here than other local casinos. If you could drink alcohol here outside of the restaurants, I'd probably choose to go here more.

They literally have the nicest restrooms of any others I've used!
And the BEST feature is the huge tree in the entry. If you look up, you will literally see the sky moving. I even brought my mom who was visiting from another state to see it! And the dealers at the table games are the absolute BEST compared to any casino in San Diego! I won't go anywhere else.

This is the best place out of any casino. VIP host will take great care of you. If you are going to gamble and hope to win, do it here. Because if you don't, the comps are fabulous. I'm totally blown away! I just booked my 7day cruise compliments of Barona! Thanks so much for making us feel like a Million $$$ Bucks.

Pretty good buffet, the slots were stiff af, but was still a good time.

The good is always good at the diners. I usually go to the one upstairs. I guess my big issue is not the staff or service but the fact they have no alcohol .... When I eat .... I drink.

Nice Casino however limited number of tables including blackjack

I have won a lot of money at Barona....I have also lost A LOT of money at Barona...lol...The major plus is that you CAN actually win money here. Obviously a casino is never a guarantee to win, however, some casinos seem to have lower payout per bonus/spins on their slots and slots that hit a lot less. Barona's pay out great and you can hit really big spins/bonuses.

One thing I love about Barona is their player's club does "teir matching" so if you are a high level at another casino you can show them and they will upgrade you to an equivelant level of their players club. If you lose a lot/play a lot in a day or over several days you can ask your host or the players club for a cash comp and they literally will give you $100 that you can cash out. I've never seen another casino do this. They also offer free play that is loaded on your card- I believe it is loaded bi-weekly but tbh I am still a little confused on their time but i frame for loading the free play but i know for sure that it is based on your play the prior month.

The Casino itself is pretty big and they have lots of different machines including plenty of lightning link and dragon link machines (The ones along the walls in the room that you enter from the parking garage seem to pay the best but that may just be personal experience) I haven't had any luck in their high-limit area- not even a little bit.

I know that this is supposed to be convenient, but I hate that they only have people that walk around and cash out your tickets and don't have ANY ticket redemption machines. You are supposed to be able to push for service and someone will come give you change or cash out your ticket right at your slot so you don't even have to get up, however, I feel obligated to tip the person every time. Which is usually fine but sometimes I don't have a ton of extra money lol. I like being able to win big, walk over to a ticket redemption machine, and then saving most of the winnings and putting in just $100 into the slot to play with. I tend to lose less this way. (at least lose it a little slower)

IMO Dragon Link > Lightning Link here but that is just based on the luck I have had- although I have won pretty big on both. I have gotten a hand pay on Autumn Moon Dragon Link and on Dancing Drums and I cashed out with $2300 on Timber Wolf Grand. Lots of people win big and even win the GRAND here. I hardly ever see anyone win the GRAND at the other casinos.

Oh I do love that their ATM machines are free....literally....they don't charge a fee to use them. This is really cool.

The Casino and all of the related buildings/land look really cool as you are driving down Wildcat Canyon Rd into the valley. It has a different theme than most of the other casinos who all are built to be modern and very las-vegas like. Barona has the feeling of a county-like mansion or something. I believe it is even made to seem like the casino is in a barn. However, don't be fooled, it does not look like a barn inside. It is very nice. There is actually a real, very large tree inside that the casino is built around- I though this is kind of random but pretty cool.

In summary, Barona is one of the best Casinos in the greater San Diego area. The casino is nice and large with lots of slots. The property is well maintained and there is lots of parking. The staff is generally friendly (although they all wave at you and say "welcome home" which is kind of weird/different especially since they take your money lol). Don't expect to win big, but know that there is at least a chance that you can (a bigger chance than some of the other nearby casinos).

I love the food but they've kind of changed the format a little bit which makes it less desirable. I drove up from San Diego yesterday 2 visit the buffet. they told me I had to gamble with my players card before I got the discount of $23. I was told I would have to pay full price which was $44. I think that's quite a bit to pay for buffet and I don't think I'll be returning. it used to be my favorite casino buffet in San Diego. Not anymore.
I realized gambling and the proceeds that come from gambling are their bread and butter. but I now get the true sense that I'm being forced to gamble when I visit the resort. So from now on, no hotel rooms, no golf, no buffet. I'm done with them.

Barona is a great casino. Very clean & fun. Staff is nice & very helpful. Sage cafe has the best steak & eggs I've ever had. But the last couple of years the machines are super tight & we can't even break even.

The casino seemed very spacious with lots of slots to play. The food I ate from there was good. I would go again if I'm given the opportunity.

I don't smoke so the fact that it's not smoke free is a major plus for me and I don't get a headache from the smoke like I typically do at the other casinos

Nicest employees overall of ANY casino!!! Barona makes you feel like they truly appreciate your patronage. Lots of longevity, they treat their employees well.

Love Barona. Customer service is their priority and everyone who works there rolls out the red carpet for ALL PATRONS! If you gamble and want to go home feeling like a winner whether or not you hit a jackpot then this is the casino you want to be at!

On of the best public golf courses in Southern California.

The best b'day 2 days ever. The staff found me on the casino floor sang me happy birthday brought a small cake and a signed card. They gave me a pin telling the rest of the staff it was my b'day. Our room was for my handicap with low bed and shower bench. The food at the Cafe and Buffet were out of this world, good. Very friendly experience.

The only thing that kept us going to Barona was the dealers & the Director of Table games who all are very welcoming & friendly. However, the so called VIP Club Barona staff is so rude & unfriendly that tonight was our last visit. They don't care about keeping their high tier players who did go 4 or more times a week but not after tonight. They cater to one "group" of players & it's very obvious of late. It's sad that they changed so far from the fun place it used to be. If the Club Barona "VIP" host cared more about the high tier players in front of her tonight rather than the person in line behind us, things ciuld have been different. Go to another of the many casinos in the area. I hear they value loyalty & repeat players. Really sad Barona.

Service was great! Food is fantastic! The games are fun and most of the dealers are real nice. The location is okay, it's real easy to get to. Definitely going back!

This casino has won numerous awards for being number one. I personally like their customer service, also the lobster buffet on Wednesday. It's very convenient and welcoming to all ages. Now I know why they've been voted #1 in San Diego.

Loved their slot machines! They have a lot of Lighting slot machines which are my favorite!

Visited my sister and brother in law in Ramona, CA and they got us all rooms at Barona for New Years Eve. Such a great experience! They serve food at the slot machines and the buffet is better than any buffet in Vegas!!

Had an absolutely fun time best and newest slots to play with no smoking environment. Barona Resort & Casino has gone above all measures to prevent Covid 19 in a sanitized and safe area with cleaning stations everywhere throughout the casino floor. One of the best times I've had all year!

Had the opportunity to go with dear friend Mary and siblings and will be grateful for every single moment I share with all of them. Thanks Mary and Jackie for you sharing this great experience with my sisters and my self. Love ya

First time there. It was fun. The food was okay. The one thing i reccomend is having different serving utensils for each item because of allergies. The food was okay, I like the variety of options. However it is very expensive on top of gaming and losing all my snack money it was okay

Buffet was one of the best that I was able to eat at while in the USA. Love the lake view from the room. The common restroom was so extra and beautiful. lol.

One of the best casino resort I've been to.The staff is amazing, from the ground keepers to the higher ups all treat you like royalty. The food court has a nice variety to choice from and the buffet is one of the best I've been to. The casino is huge and offers a nice mixture old and new slots and you can gamble at the age of 18 which is the reason why they do not serve alcohol.

5 stars is an under statement. This casino/gorgeous resort deserves ONE HUNDRED STARS!
Excellent hospitality through out every inch of this property from the moment you drive passed the man at the Enterance who is waving to all the guests coming in, to the moment you are leaving the resort and driving passed the man at the Enterance gate who is waving to each and every guest driving out. This is by far my favorite casino to be a club member with. It is farthest from me than the majority of casinos i go to, which makes me sad because every time- my experience is so amazing. In every single little way imaginable this family like environment makes you feel appreciated to the fullest, that no other casino i know of does. Quite honestly, there are way too many of those 'little things' I'm talking about to spend time typing an example of them. And then there are bigger and cooler ways that they make sure to give back to their beloved players, such as throwing in a little fun with the party people. Who walk around and pick people to play games just to hand u money. It's unbelievably incredible. THE BEST CASINO AND RESORT EXPERIENCE YOU CAN HAVE IN ALL OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA. and im a gold member at almost all of them.

We stopped by to check the Casino out yesterday. Got my players card (guy at desk rude) then off to play. I had the misfortune of not understanding the old machines will kick out the change. I thought it kept my $80.00. Walked away to get help and check previous machine and someone cashed the $$ out. Frustrating! I was shocked at the kind service I received. They went above and beyond to help me. I did get my money back, I m not so sure the casino didn t just donate it back to me. I have never had anything like that happen.
I like the casino and will be back.

A guy from the card member services was being extremely rude and ignorant. I would ask him a simple question about an event going on and he would give me the same answer everytime, which was ," it's for certain card holders only." I was a part of that category that could partake in the event but he would not give me any further information because I looked too young.

Barona USED to be my FAVORITE Casino in Southern CA HANDS DOWN! But now I BARELY ever even go there at all, and it's now my LEAST favorite Southern CA Casino of them all!! A big part of why I changed my liking and opinion of Barona, is because they made the ENTIRE CASINO a NON-SMOKING Casino!!! WORST idea EVER Barona!!! I don't know about most, but I like to smoke while I gamble, hell chain smoke even!! And the fact that they made it non smoking, was a HUGE turn off for me wanting to go there at all anymore. Change your newly implemented non-smoking rule back to a SMOKING Casino, PLEASE!!!

My family and I enjoyed the buffet. They have a great variety of food to choose from and it's all delicious. My kids love the desert bar. So many to cushier from. The staff and service is always great. Will keep coming back.

Barona is nice but it's no Viejas as far as the buffet is concerned. The grounds are peaceful and the overall atmosphere is enjoyable. The casino is clean and has a nice layout. I always enjoy visits to Barona

It was awful ,didn't get a bonus round or any win more than 84cents,not fun at all.

I must say that my experience at Barona casino mind you was my first time visiting and I was very impressed with how they followed all Covid 19 regulations, I felt safe Being there, great job to all they're employees and management, they go out of their way to make everyone feel welcome.
