Great for some pastries. I like the croissants myself. The best part is the coffee. I only gave it 3 stars because it seems so usual in my morning routine. Others might give it 5.
Edit-11/25/17- I'm editing my review and deducting a star. It seems the bakery has increased the price of baguettes to $2.50. In addition the baguettes are smaller than they used to be. Originally the loaves were almost the same size as the bag, but now there's ~6 inches more bag than bread.
THIS is a bakery. I go there almost every day for a baguette. Almost everything on display is fantastic. The price is steep, but you're paying for real food.
Excellent customer service
Excellent customer service.
Beautiful place and the pastries are incredible. Best croissants I have ever had but be forewarned that this comes at a very high price...but if you want the best, this is it.
Not a good place to be an employee. Very disappointed with the treatment.
Fresh and delicious. The monkey bread is amazing! Usually a wait.
Delicious! As expected, store opens at 7am on the dot. Staff is super helpful and efficient. First time and certaintly won't be the last! Almond croissants were my fav but all pastries were excellent!
Best baked goods on this side of the Hudson. Everything is good, seriously, so choose what looks nice to you. Cheese Danish and Palmier highly recommended.
great baked goods, but lines get a little cumbersome.
Expensive, but worth it. Can easily drop $50 on various treats. Baguettes and croissants are goto items.
This outpost of the famed NYC boulangerie is worth the trip. It is almost impossible not to be tempted by every single, mouth watering item. Be prepared to overspend and hunt for parking if the small lot is filled.
Bread with nuts and fruits are fantastic. But little bit pricy.
Balthazar Bakery is definitely one of my favorite bakeries in the world. My office is right across the street from their location in Soho and we love to have their pastries for breakfast or desserts for birthday.
We have been working from home since March so we miss their pastries so much and decided to visit their *flagship store* in NJ to get all the goodies we miss at once.
We were there at around 10am on a Sunday and there was a line but the wait wasn t too bad. They limited the capacity to have 6 customers maximum.
There was a great variety of options from pastries to desserts with reasonable prices and we had a super difficult time making our decisions. We ended up with 9 different pastries and 2 desserts to share with 4 people.
We had the ham & cheese croissant and pecan sticky bun as our brunch right after our visit. The croissant was crispy with melted cheese and flavorful ham. The pecan sticky bun was puffy and soft with crunchy pecan both on top and inside.
Terrible service and staff are rude. When I went into Balthazar, I bought two loafs of bread. When I received the bag, I did not check if I had the two breads, so I walked to my car. When I looked to see what was in the bag, I only found one loaf. I went back into the store and I told the cashier that I did not receive my other loaf of bread. She screamed at me and said that she SAW me take the two loafs of bread to my car. I said that I did not have the two loafs and that I wanted another one. She kept arguing with me, until another woman that was also in the store when I was there, walked in and said, "Sorry. I took another bag by accident." When she said this, I was so upset and furious at the cashier, she was basically calling me a THIEF. I told her that I am not a thief and the way she treated me was unacceptable and unprofessional. She did not even apologize. I will NEVER come to this place again and I am truly shocked that she treated me this way. I wouldn't recommend buying anything from here.
Best bakery in the area. Great staff and amazing baked sweets
Bread and food taste really good but parking can be a bit of a problem on weekends.
What's not to love about this place?
Their pastry selection is fresh daily, with a huge variety for anyone to find at least one item to enjoy. The staff is friendly and keeps the busy line moving smoothly. So glad this is here in NJ!
Great products but, can get super crowded on weekends and has a very tiny retail space for people to wait on line.
This is a large bakery with a diverse selection of pastries. Everything is made from scratch. The taste of the bread & pastry are fresh and rich.
Ok Google, you do not have to shame me. Yes, I frequent this baking establishment.
Amazing bakery. We got a private tour and saw how they make these amazing baked goods.
Great place with great tasting breads and other baked goods. Second to none.
I have never been disappointed at this bakery. EVERYTHING is fresh and delicious.
The best of everything ni words to describe how good is this place
French technique done to perfection! i have no problem stating this is the best bakery in NJ , old world style breads , the sourdough rye, baguette and seeded rolls are some of my go to items. The pastries, tarts , galletes , croissants, caneles, financier and cookies are delicious and top notch! prices are on the high end but worth the splurge!
The best. My favorites are their mini sticky buns, apple danish and petite pan. The 500 pound mountain of butter is pretty impressive too.
Butter, butter and more butter. Breads, croissants, pastries, cookies, all fantastic. Lines can get long in weekends but never more than a 10 minute wait.
A great bread factory. A store that sells by direct retail is small space that is full even if only five people stand. There is a lot of guests in the morning. I have recently repaired and got a little room, but it is small. The process of making bread all looks like glass windows. It is an old building, but it can be seen directly that it is produced in order cleanly. Especially the taste of bread is more delicious than anywhere else. I visit every Saturday morning because I buy bread once a week. Sunday is also available in the morning. It is a bakery that I strongly recommend. It is said to be used in a fine dining restaurant in New Jersey.
This is about high-class baked calories. Everything is divine. I just wish they d label their goods so I wouldn t have to wait 20 minutes for each person in line ahead of me asking, What is that? What s in that? Does that have nuts? And so on.
Great pastries, cakes, and breads. Staff is friendly and does their best to keep the line moving. Pricy, but you're paying for quality.
The best fresh bread...I stop by every time i am in the neighborhood. No sugar, no nothing, just good fresh bread and nice service.
Good bread, but sometimes they will charge you extra because you can't see the prices getting chalked up. Service was a little on the rude side. A little pricey, but great quality.
Always get PECAN CRANBERRY LOAF large one, it lasts me for 3-4 days.
The best bakery around this area. Lately some Asian bakeries popped up with fancy looking pastries. They are OK, too. This bakery has more that what they have. My favorite bakery.
This is the bakery that I go to to get baked goods for special occasions. Great selection of breads. Delicious cakes and tarts. Expensive, but worth it.
I've never seen a place like this. Wow! What an amazing place. Real bakery/factory.
love it everything is fresh the ladies so nice and helpful and polite. the make sure u hand sanitized ur
Closer to the bakery. I recommend this place if you don't like American style bread. Desserts such as muffins, madeleine, scones, and cookies are much more delicious than large breads such as baguettes and baguettes. Personally, lemon madeleine and butter scones were the best!
What a great bakery. You can't go wrong any kinds of breads or deserts. Parking lot has some issues, becareful when you leave parkinglot.
It's pretty rare to have a good quality local bakery to go to. I'm fortunate to live close to Balthazar. I know that everytime I walk in and order bread, it is fresh and high quality. I can also expect seasonal new specials every week. What makes it even better is that it's affordable and competitive. You really can't go wrong here.
Hands down the best bakery in all of the NY metropolitan area. Their French pastries are on par with what I had in Paris. Croissants and baguettes are amazing!!
I love French pastries that stay true to the recipe and didn't Americanize itself. It's not overly sweet but very delicious. They don't skimp on the fillings and there's an abundance of desserts, breads, cookies etc to choose from. There's something here for everyone. All fresh. Prices are fair for this good quality.
I would come here everyday if I lived closer. Park across the street in the lot where all the delivery trucks are if you don't want to wait for a spot. Expect a line but worth the wait.
Balthazar bakery; there's just simply no competition.
bread and pastries are delicious. Expensive but worth it.
Wonderful selection of breads & pastries, there s a reason why there s a line almost out the door at the weekends! Will definitely recommend & will definitely be back for some more of the excellent baguettes!
Excellent, less expensive than NYC stores and much fresher. Its true you should count your purchases when the store is extra crowded but they make mistakes in both directions. I suggest you order one of each
Best bakery in town and probably in the entire state. Yummier than what I had in France.
The bake goods are delicious, especially the chocolate croissants.
Best French Bakery, everything is delicious and fresh, baguette better than in Paris!
This bakery can get swamped at times, making in-and-out service trivial. The days offerings are set to delight, whether you're looking for a whole loaf or just a treat of gallette. Everything here is top-notch tastey and the textures sublime.
I'd drive to Jersey again just for this place...perfection in pastry form!!
I don t live in the area but whenever I get a chance to go to NJ I stop by to stock up. One of the best bakeries around highly recommend! Try the chocolate chip cookies yummy for the tummy
Really no comparison. Perfect bread and pastry at very good prices. Great selection. Worth the extra shopping trip.
So very yummy bread. Never thought of a plain bread would be that good.
But as mentioned on one of review, I had a feeling they charged extra or something since they're not giving me my receipt. make sure you get your receipt! and prepared for the long line of wait.
Delicious local bakery. Delivers to many local restaurants as well as having a sales counter.
Excellent bread made under strict rules of quality and good flavor.
It sucked
Jk it was the best expirence of my life
