Love their pastries freshly baked you can see the bakers mixing up and baking all the goodies in the back this is Oregon best bakery
Love their Pecan Scrappy buns -- made only on the weekends. Also when the Maple Twists are made (Fall / Winter) I always get one of those too. Love the people and the product.
Baker and Spice is a place that is worth driving great distants to experience. The bread is a treat. The sweets are so good that they will bring tears to you eyes. One can order specialty items for holidays, birthdays, and anniversaries. All are marvelous. There are daily specials available for lunch that are interesting and good. I think they appeal to ladies, but I am guy. When in Portland, Baker and Spice are a must. Go and see.
Great coffee and selection of baked goods. Fairly quiet cafe with good environment and staff. Only downside is that they don't offer wifi, but you can use Starbucks wifi if you need to connect.
If u are hungry, this is the place to go. Excellent food and made to order
In addition to beautiful and delicious bakery items, the staff is wonderful. I am a FAN! Thank you!!
Love love love this bakery! My son and I visit for special weekend treats. Service is always great and the quality is always out of this world! Baker & Spice is miles ahead of any other bakery in the Portland area. Only down-side is that seating is quite limited so you should be prepared to get your order to-go or wait for a seat to open up.
Finally found a bakery where every product is what it's supposed to be. I am french and it took me forever to find a decent baguette in Portland and baker & spice meets that! The sourdough is airy, crispy edges without having a dense bottom crust. The pastry dough is perfect, light and buttery. Well done Baker & Spice.
This is my go to place for buying a birthday or special cake. I am hear monthly as these are my office birthday cakes as well. The cake is divine and the frosting so delicate. Never too sweet but so rich and dreamy. My favorite is the Black and White but the Latte cake is a close second. I have had all of their flavors and there is not a bad one in my opinion. Lovely store, lovely specialty baking wares and the book selection is great too.
Ordered the coconut cake for a birthday before as well as a raspberry buttercream cupcake. Their cakes have the right density and texture (granted this is subjective). They also gave one of the best buttercream frostings around. I'm not typically fond of buttercream frosting and I usually take a knife to remove it. But Baker & Spice's buttercream frosting is wonderful.
Can t live without their scrappy! Really, from amazing pastries, to sandwiches to bread, they do everything well.
tasty, fragrant, sweet place worthy of your attention
Hands down my favorite bakery. I've never had a bad meal here and the baked goods are the stuff of dreams. Their chocolate and coconut tarts are my current favorites!
Excellent bakery! We love their Crumb Cakes. Items made with their puff pastry are excellent too!
Great place for coffee and food. They gave me some sourdough starter for free and helped me get it going!
I love the croissants and the communal New York Times.
Quaint local coffee shop with great scones and bread! Definitely worth the lines if you are looking for strong coffee or a sweet treat and want to support a local shop!
The breads and cakes are very good. Go before they run out. Love the village bread and like the staff and service
Wonderful little bakery with AMAZING croissants and other goodies, friendly and helpful staff, and really nice pre-order and pick up protocols. Definitely worth going to!
Stopped in for a coffee meeting and ended up ordering a flat bread because they looked really fresh. They warmed it for me and it was delicious - made me want to try the rest of their savory and sweet options. Definitely worth the stop if you are in the neighborhood.
Nice baked goods and good coffee in Multnomah Village.
Delicious treats. The tea cake, cookies, and blueberry Danish are all superb. Just wish they carried diet coke.
This is by far my favorite bakery ever. It's my favorite place to take the kids after school for a treat, to grab a quick sandwich for lunch, or to go when I find a few minutes to myself and want a little something special. Their stuff is all fresh and homemade. On the weekends they have the most amazing pecan scrappies (caramel rolls). They have great fresh fruit pastries, croissants, holiday desserts, and fresh bread.
Cute little place, with delicious food! Not much room to sit down, but this is a great place to grab some breakfast to go.
Fantastic cafe the baked goods are always delicious, the service is great and friendly
Best pastries and bread in sw Portland. Also get lunch sandwiched here that are really good.
Good coffee, great bread, amazing pastries, delectable shortbread. Can be a little pricey and super long lines at times but service can't be beat.
Nice community bakery with delicious baked goods, breads, and handmade sandwiches. Busy on the weekends but a good option for the franchise alternative crowd.
Kids and us love love this bakery! Everything is so fresh and delicious!! Always a must when we are close by!
Great place. Their salted cookies are especially good.
The perfect neighborhood bakery! Baker & Spice is the best place in SW Portland to read a book on a rainy day. There's always a spot to squeeze in at the main table and mingle or if you prefer to sit alone, you never have to wait long to grab a table. With so many delicious treats to enjoy, great tea and coffee selections, and such an engaging staff, why would you ever pick anywhere else?
By far my favorite cafe in Portland, although I may be a little biased because it's right up the road! Great coffee, amazing food, friendly staff, and a super chill atmosphere.
I used to have breakfast & lunch at Baker & Spice two or three times a week when I lived in Portland. Had coffee meetings there often, as well. The coffee, all the salads, soups & sandwiches, & the oh so yummy bakery items made fresh every day were something to look forward to as I drove the winding highway to Hillsdale. My daughter still buys bread, cakes, pies, and pastries there all the time.
Wonderful bakery . As a costumer with an allergy I find the staff very helpful and accommodating .
Very nice quality Baker, your go to in SW, higher quality beads and pastries than grand central. Nice affordable lunch as well!
One of the better bakeries in town! The Katie Bun is amazing, and they always have something made with local, seasonal produce. Good coffee, too!
I could say that this place is the bee's pajamas and the cat's knees, but even that wouldn't do it justice. The coffee is good, the staff are absolutely wonderful and a deLIGHT to interact with, yes, but most of all the food is absolutely breathtaking. Like, yes, it's bakery fare. Expect that. But expect, like, the ABSOLUTE Platonic ideal of bakery food. The croissants are immaculately buttery and flaky (both savory AND sweet), the pies are heart-melting, the sandwiches are tastefully developed, even the PLAIN WHITE ROLLS are really, really good??
I hope you'll excuse my enthusiasm, but go to Baker and Spice and perhaps you'll understand.
Very high quality baked goods and good coffee. Not a great study space due to business and lack of wi-fi.
They have the second best challah in town. And that's huge praise, because the bakery with the best has been doing it since my grandmother was a little girl.
I'm also fond of their shortbread, it's damn good.
Quality local bakery and eatery; always full of happy customers having a pastry and a great . Very popular, and for a reason.
Nice place, good working spaces, no wifi, but the at&t wifi from starbucks is nice and strong over here too. (wink)
They make the best cakes I ever had and fantastic ruglach.
Baker & Spice is outstanding! All their baked goods (as well as their other foods and drinks) are SOO delicious, especially their savory bread pudding, which is a must-have!
Amazing, delicious pastries made with local produce. I always go for the tea cake!
It was lovely and their cake and macarons were very loght
Super friendly and quick despite the line. I cant wait to try their egg sandwich!
Favorite bakery anywhere. Amazing pastries that never disappoint.
Service was bad today, several people (4) standing around conversing with each other not paying attention to customers entering bakery. Uggggh, no napkins with to go order
We are so lucky to have this gem in our neighborhood. I can honestly say I have never had anything from B&S or The Cakery that wasn t amazing. My coworkers regularly request a stop on my way to work & it is a standing Saturday morning treat in our home.
They have the absolutely greatest, most beautiful, must delightful smiles of anywhere I shop. Of course it helps that they have wonderful bread and deserts. The only downside is that you cannot order online in advance. That's the price you pay for shipping at a small, very competent baking expertise - filled store.
Totally the best bakery in Portland. I just wish the parking lot was bigger!
This is my favorite bakery. They have whole wheat goodies.
Whatever you do, under NO circumstances should anyone order the savory croissant. Seriously, the one with ham and gruyere in it is NOT something you should buy. Doing so would mean less for me and oh my goodness could I eat a dozen of them. Everything I ve had from this place is great but that savory croissant is amaze balls.
I am obsessed with the crumb coffee cake from this place and am constantly talking about it. The bread pudding is also wonderful.
The staff used to be friendly, but lately not as much. One new girl in particular actually laughed at me last week when I asked about the calorie count on a specific item (bran muffin.) Great Harvest has accommodated me with this same request and not laughed at me. This same girl was very abrupt helping me at another time. 5 stars for the delicious pastries and bread.
Pricey for what it is - and I m a baker! I used to get mini-baguette sandwiches from La Boulange in Hayes Valley SF. I came to B&S hoping to get something similar but it seems like no one can spend a mere 15 seconds warming up a pre-made item. I was also disappointed to get only bread, meat & cheese rather than any veggie slices on the Sopressata. There are hardly any places in Oregon to eat that isn t fried, breaded or full of meat. I m grateful for the staff s service but the business owners should think about being a proponent of healthy change and diversify their menus to be more inclusive to folks who - believe it or not - also eat vegetables.
Amazing staff and delicious cakes. A family favorite
They only had one high chair. This is Portland people!
Bustling but not overcrowded. Has a great atmosphere and selection of food and drink. It's the perfect place to meet a friend or nestle up with a book. Highly recommended!
We got the coconut cake, it was so good. Everyone left the party with slices to go.
The store is truly delightful I just wish it actually had more things to "bake" with. I came in looking for reusable piping bags, tips, and cupcake tins and sadly found nothing I totally thought I had my errands taken care of by going here. :( I ended up at Michaels whereas I would much rather support a local store.
Hats off to their baker! I needed one of their German Chocolate cakes for a birthday luncheon today; a special request of the birthday girl, so the baker managed to get it baked and ready for me to pick up at 10:00. And, it was fabulous! So happy they set up shop in my neighborhood.
Delicious, world class breads and pastries. They're also a favorite neighborhood gathering spot. I really wish I didn't have to watch my diet so closely, or I would eat everything here.
They have really good bread albeit a bit on the expensive side. Their tea cakes are to die for and their vanilla shortbread cookies are wonderful. Highly recommended.
Delicious bread and pastries, this place does it right. My only suggestion, there is a bakery in Gearhart OR that has this amazing almond croissant that is amazing!! And should definently be added to your menu.
