I've been here twice. I have been for a buffet and just a regular Saturday brunch. I enjoyed the food both times. I think their best dishes are their brunch dishes. It may just be the simple chile relleno, scrambled eggs, etc but they are all delicious! They have a great appetizer which has pieces of steak, cheese and peppers in a sizzler. Someone will roll this up in tortillas table side for you. Their mimosas are also very refreshing.

We made a special request for red snapper fish tacos which were not on the menu. The waiter spoke to the chef and he was happy to prepare them. We also ordered the fried chicken tacos. All of the food was delicious and the service was great.

Really good Mexican food! I live in Dallas, and have heard sometimes about Hugo's. I had a mole de olla and other appz; everything was delicious! Cannot wait to try the other concepts.

One of the top restaurants in Houston. We only had starters and tapas and everyone was a taste explosion. Great staff and margarita selection. Also the wine list is worth trying. I recommend this place.

The food was good. We were with a party of about 20 ppl and the would not split the check. The staff left us to figure it out on our own. For this reason I will never be back, on top of that it took the waiter 30 minutes to bring everyone s credit cards back. For the amount of money we paid for the food, I expected better service.

Is the closest you'll come in Houston to upscale authentic Mexican food. Even though some plates lack the spicy Mexican taste (e.g. Mole, Chiles en Nogada, Chocolate Abuelita) I find those way to sweet for my taste. Other than that the concept is totally different that that of a Tex-Mex Restaurant.

The food here was spectacular, perfect food on a rainy day. The huevos rancheros was do good and then I had the tres leches.... I was in complete heaven. One of the best meals I have had in a long time.

Food was great! Very good quality. Nice upscale restaurant, good buzzing environment. Great for dinner with friends or for date night. Food portions are NOT large at all, but are probably the amount 1 should eat at meal time lol. My friends and I had a great time. I will be back to check out happy hr next time!

Participated in the restaurant week. We had a party of four. Each of us selected a different coarse. The food was good. But it wasn't great. With all the rave reviews I've seen on tv, it was underwhelming. It reminded of cruise ship food.

Each meal started off with the Roots of Mexico. A spoonful of maza with diced vegetables. Not a fan. The maza tasted like uncooked dough. The diced vegetables was less than inspiring and it didn't help the hgv

The remaining three courses improved. However, it was cruise ship type meal. It was good. But no wow factor.

On a very busy Friday night, without a reservation, I was greeted and welcomed by an eager Valet staff and a n over accommodating Door Staff. I was seated and within minutes I had cold water and was greeted by Gil my waiter. Mngr Ignacio came by shortly later and also greeted and make recommendations. My party of 4 will return regularly.

This is, without question, my favorite restaurant in the world. Their cheapest entree is the vegetarian plate, and it is delicious is ways I am incapable of describing. They do things with asparagus (a vegetable I am already quite fond of) that shouldn't be possible, and their corn pudding... Dear god, their corn pudding.

Salsa was good . guacamole super market quality. Barbacoa was a small mostly fat ice cream scoop ball of meat. Corn only tortillas. This is America we eat flour tortillas and feed our cattle corn. I was excited about eating at a James Beard award winning chefs restaurant and got taco del mar instead. Go to El Tiempo.

Excellent mex-mex dishes not the usual tex-mex you find in Houston. The noise level inside is very high but they have a patio which is very pleasant and quiet if the weather is decent (which it often is outside of summer) that is the place to be if you want to converse over dinner.

Can't really see why this place is so highly regarded. The food is so so. The portion is tiny. The restaurant layout could be better (my wife and I was stuck at a table right in front of the restroom, not very romantic). Over all, not recommend this place for the price

I was pretty disappointed with this place. I got their famous and best dish, the carne Asada. The flavor for a few bites was pretty good, but the steak was so unevenly cooked. I had parts that were rare and parts that were well done. The only good thing I ate that evening was their tortillas that I asked for. We tried dessert and the taste was ok... except it was clear it was sitting out just waiting to be eaten as it was cold to the touch. Way too overpriced to be serving cold dessert and steak that they can t even cook to an even temperature.

We enjoyed the ambiance and the food at Talula's. Went after a matinee with friends. There was quite a crowd, even though it was early, but the staff did a great job. Didn't get to the bar, but it looked like people were really enjoying it there as well. Have recommended it to friends.

I went for the Sunday brunch buffet and the food was great! There was a nice selection of dishes to choose from and each one had a distance taste. Don't forget to save room for the dessert. The hot chocolate and tres leches were my favorite, but there were quite a few other great desserts too.

I am a chef and previous restaurant owner, and I am hyper critical when it comes to the theater of upscale dining.

But Hugo's nailed it!

The service was professional and attentive. The lighting was relaxing and invited conversation. The food's presentation displayed an unparalleled attention to detail and pure culinary artistry.

The bar's energy had a hum and a rhythm reflective of good management. The employees looked happy. The windows and floors under the table legs were clean - yes, I check those things too. The food's quantity, quality and pricing were perfect.

Hugo's owners know and respect their commitment to the industry, and it shows. I wish you and your staff an abundant future of success.

The food is incredible and the service is fantastic! Our waitor was even aware of which items on the vegetarian menu were vegan!

The drinks were nice as well. And I loved the nice but unpretentious atmosphere!

Definitely looking forward to going back!

I came in to Hugo's on Sunday at noon for their brunch buffet. Right off the bat service was very good, the servers were helpful and attentive. The food in the buffet was really good, you could definately tell that the ingredients used wer of higher quality. They had a nice and diverse selection of mexican dishes and desserts. The only negative remark is that it gets very crowded and it can be uncomfortable to be crawling through people to get food. Overall it was a great experience and I would enjoy coming back.

The service staff was courteous and prompt, the food was mostly good although the presentation was a bit "artistic" for my tastes and less substantial than I would prefer, the drinks were on point, and the space was pleasant. Overall a positive experience, but food/drinks were a bit pricey for the portions.

Incredible food. The brunch buffet on Sundays is almost unbelievable how good it is - the spread is massive and it's all fresh made and delicious. If you're not looking to stuff yourself, the menu on any other day is great. Their margarita is great. Happy hour is okay - selection isn't great but all the options were super tasty.

We love Hugo s but tonight not so much. Our waiter was only somewhat attentive rushed and hurried. My dish the Camarones Al Mojo De Ajo was so salty I could not eat it. The waiter was so busy we had difficulty flagging him down. But he was very apologetic once we did get his attention and took the charge off our bill.

Noisy, busy, tasty experience. We were there for my wife's birthday dinner and the place was quite crowded with a private party going on. Great hospitality and the lady waitress was very patient explaining what's in the food and specials. I still need a lot of getting used to Mexican food so I can't really comment whether my steak was good or bad, I just felt bit of well done when I asked for medium rare. Most importantly my wife enjoyed the dinner so full stars.

Hugo's a unique Latin dining experience with marvelous flavors and excellent presentation. Parking is complimentary valet. Menu offers the Latin basics as well as variations of the classics. Tampiquena is offered with rib eye instead of flank. Grilled Octupus was outstanding. Flan with Passion Fruit syrup delicious. Service excellent.

Delicious food and attentive wait staff. This is not typical "Tex Mex" Houston fare, so if you cannot decide on an entree consider piecing together appetizers plus beans and guacamole a-la carte.

Yum! What a delight! I went with some friends to indulge during restaurant week. We had a great time! There is a great ambiance, AND THE FOOD...Hugo's had been on my list of places to go since moving to Houston, and I am so glad that I finally made it there! The duck was delicious, but the chipotle chocolate dessert was brilliant! We will definitely be returning!
