I went for lunch and tried their vegetarian enchiladas and it was amazing. The different mix in vegetables and salsa was delicious. The capirotada dessert was made different from what I've had but it was still a great taste

Amazing place!! Took my wife here for a dinner party for her birthday. We ended up having more people than we anticipated but they were so gracious and accommodated our party. Food was amazing, atmosphere was great and the service was top notch!

It's a rarity to have very good Mexican food even in Texas, but Hugo's has superb food. I love Hugo Ortega's new takes on traditional Mexican dishes. His pulpos al carbon are heavenly. He once made chiles rellenos just for my mother, who had exacting standards as a native-born Mexican. She loved them and said they were 100% authentic. Gracias Hugo!

Very expensive, and very authentic Mexican Cuisine with a modern twist. You can enjoy classic Mexican dishes as well as fried grasshoppers! And of course they have a delicious Margarita menu :-)

Bomb, bomb, BOMB! Their winter seasonal menu omg! So sad it gone. They had the brisket chiles rellenos so sad they're gone. The customer service from the waiters is great. The hostesses could use some work. Great selection of mezcals and tequilas. Great cocktails. Outside patio area is open uptop and very nice. Sunday brunch is a must! But it gets full so either make reservations or get there very early. The curros and hot chocolate you cannot miss! The crickets sound weird but are actually really good. The salsa they use makes everything so good. Keep it up Hugo's we love you! Their sister restaurant Xochi is amazing as well.

Because of timing there wasn't a buffet today which was why I booked it in the first place, but that being said everything I've eaten from this place reaffirms my belief in food. Everything tastes like I imagine food would to people on drugs. Everything is so so full of flavor without being cop out overly spicy or overly sweet. Worth the money. Service is excellent. Food came out incredibly fast. Quit reading reviews and go

The restaurant does appear to get complacent. 1. We ordered tortillas soup but it does not have tortillas in it; 2. Black bean is missing in enchiladas and we have to ask for it; 3. They intermittently charge us for hot source without notifying us; 4. Instead of apologizing waiters argue with you. It s really unfortunate to see the trend where this restaurant is heading.

Not a lot for people with dietery restrictions but their food was tasteful! The atmosphere was lively and the music was great. The only down side is i wouldve liked to see an allergen or ingredient list on the food in English.

Brunch was stellar! I can't believe I've lived in Houston all this time and had never been. Thee service was perfect but the food...the food was divine. Cocktails were perfect! It's a "see and be seen" kind of place with a great crowd. Prepare for a wait but it's totally worth it.

Amazing food and staff. We recently hosted our son's rehearsal dinner at Brennan's. We we're a large group and our food was flawless! We planned it from out of state and the catering staff were fabulous! The staff that day made the event so easy for us! Everything was perfect!

Love this place!!! As a vegetarian , sometimes its hard to find food on the menu and I usually end up making requests to convert a dish to veggie. Again I need to stick to usual fajitas or enchiladas. This place not only has a separate veggie menu but the chefs created a fusion veggie menu which satisfies my craving for something different from a regular Mexican fare and at the same time does not compromise on taste. Can't rate it high enough!!!

05/12/2017 3:00 pm - Everything about this place was fantastic, so happy I got to try a new vegetarian friendly restaurant. The only default was our server Danielle. She was extremely un welcoming, didn't introduce herself, got our order wrong, and checked on us only once. She was very bitter towards everyone ( maybe it just wasn't her day) Wish I could've experienced better service but at least now I know to not get her next time because I will be returning for the excellent food.

We went for the Sunday brunch and it was awesome! It's worth every penny and as it gets closer to lunch time, it gets incredibly busy and the line gets long. Oddly enough, my favorite entree was the fish enchiladas and I am NOT a seafood person. I cannot wait to go here again. The dessert bar is very good too. Usually when going to buffets the small portioned desserts are average to sub-par and hardly worth the calories, but there are some gems here. And the Mexican hot chocolate is a great meal finisher!

The dining experience was great. The ambiance and wait staff was wonderful. The f[d was very tasty. Authentic Mexican cuisine. My fist visit was a birthday celebration. I plan to return for their lunch buffet. Also the margarita was very fresh.

Hugos has become a staple! When arriving you have to use their VIP service, the only other option is street parking for the neighborhood adjacent. The food is good, but also has been the same menu for a very long time. The environment has changed though, as they have removed a lot of the curtains, and elements that absorbed sound, so Hugos went from a dining space that you could at least hear the other people in your party; to a very noisy space where sounds are bouncing everywhere.

This is first time I have lunch buffet at Hugo. The food, music and service are all super worth the ticket. You will have oysters, ceviche, lamb, quail, etc plus traditional brunch ingredients like porched eggs. There're also huge selection of dessert if you managed to save some appetite for it. But if you don't, it's ok to stuff yourself to death. And by doing that, I only had that one meal that day. Love the restaurant and love the brunch. Will definitely come back soon!

Went for the brunch. It was fantastic! Food was excellent. The service was even better. All of the wait staff were extremely helpful and made us feel like VIPs. We definitely will be back.

Rather a let down. Snapper ceviche good. Ox tail soup and cochinita en pibil so so. Refried beans were great, but the serving is only about 2 Tbls. Rice was awful. They use converted, (Uncle Ben's style) rice. Dinner for 2 with 2 beers and 2 cocktails was $150 with tip. Way overpriced for unremarkable meal. Won't go back.

After reading positve reviews decided to go tryout Hugo's. We ordered Hugo Rita and hand picked margarita from cocktail menu. Hugo Rita was good but handpicked was not worth the hype. We ordered Barbacova and Canita from main menu and chicken tacquito from kids menu. Let me start with chicken tacquitos, no taste or flavour. My son loves rice beans he did not like it. He hardly touched it. Barbacova was mediocre and portion size was small. Even the sides very so small that we had to scramble for onions and peppers. Canito(pork dish) was claimed as one of their best dishes had no flavour. Sides were few onions and 2 brussel sprouts. We had to pay extra to get tortillas. Overall didappointed with this place. 2 stars for hugo rita and meat texture. Overpriced and overhyped restaurant.
