I enjoyed every minute of it. My drink was Good. They had live music. A variety of food although focusing on Spanish, had a nice flow very good for the price will be coming back.

Brunch Extreme! Hugo's has a great all you can eat authentic Mexican buffet with quality dishes. The mamosas are impeccable for a late morning start. It is a little pricey, but well worth it. Its a good idea to place a reservation as well.
Amazing food and staff. We recently hosted our son's rehearsal dinner at Brennan's. We we're a large group and our food was flawless! We planned it from out of state and the catering staff were fabulous! The staff that day made the event so easy for us! Everything was perfect!
Ceviche, Hugorita, and churros with chocolate ice cream. Allllll the best.
The food here is excellent but a bit pricey. They have a sampler for happy hour that gives you a taste of their different foods and it's all delicious. We also tried their special, again very good. Top marks! We did have a few mosquito bites eating outside so watch out
Food and atmosphere was outstanding. Will definitely be back.
One of houston's highest rated restaurants, though one of my meals here was distinctly subpar. Even the other one wasn't incredible---you get the feeling that the food isn't as freshly prepared as you'd like, which is really unacceptable for this class of restaurant. On the upside, it has excellent margaritas, and some of the dishes were quite good.
This was the best start to a great vacation. The chicken and the lamb was amazing. You must try the house margarita.
Looking for authentic and variety? Their buffet has it.
We've been here for brunch a few times . Absolutely fantastic place - the food, the service and the atmosphere are always excellent !!
Wonderful spot for lunch. Creative drinks, appetizers, main courses and desserts. It felt like a lunch in Mexico City. Our waiter was very helpful. Everything is fresh and prepared on site including very tasty mole and other sauces!
We went to Hugo"s for our Anniversary. Good Food and excellent Service.
Hugo's as always has excellent service and delicious food.
Went with my boyfriend for the first time and the expierence was great. There was a 45 minute wait since we didn't have a reservation, but no wait if we wanted to sit on the patio. We chose the patio, and we were not dissapointed. It was a "cooler" night in Houston so it wasnt bad since the humidity was down. The ambiamce on the patio as the sun sets is quite nice. I don't speak Spanish so I cant tell you what the names of what we ordered were, but the food was delicious, and I had lamb and it was SO GOOD. Would 10/10 recommend this place. It is more of an upscale place so the portion sizes reflect that kind of pricey food but it was nice! The dessert churros were the best thing we ate!
Excellent spot for delicious Mexican food. i give this spot two thumbs up. the service here is better than most. bring your appetite because portions are large. menu is similar to a restaurant in el paso i loved.
One of my favorite restaurants in Houston. Had the honor of meeting the chef and the service is wonderful each time my husband and I go.
Lived in Houston all my life and have visited so many places but Hugo s is definitely one of the best in town! Make a reservation!
Delicious traditional food with some unique nuances. Friendly wait staff. Classy establishment.
Great place for date night every now and then. A bit pricey but worth it. The atmosphere is nice and the service was good. I really loved the rolled chicken tacos (essentially flautas). They had a nice little spice to em.
Can I just say OMG!!! This place was amazing with a capitol A
We can't wait to try this joint again. I thought I was in Mexico, the food was that good.
Superb, authentic, and inventive Mexican food. One of the best meals I have ever had.
Had the greatest time, great atmosphere food was very delicious and savory. Wine was very good waiters were very attentive and prompt.
Such a great place! I love the vegetarian appetizers! and the scallops are amazing and so are the short ribs. The drinks are amazing and the staff is really knowledgeable and the outdoor patio is super cute.
The chef has really set himself apart from all normal Mexican flavored foods. Love coming here for brunch Sunday's.
Had heard about this place and went first time with family of picky eaters. The pulpo was so good! Enjoyed dining al fresco & the service was excellent! Definitely will return! 2/10/18 Had to return for that darn pulpo octopus tacos which are amaaaazing!-Got to be on TV while eating as Cooking Channel was there filming & HugO was there & had to shake his hand for delivering superb food and the table side service was great too! And a special shout out to Sergio ;Valet service was excellent!
Regardless the food the waiting time is so high. This restaurant is over rating. You can received the same food one block ahead.
All of the food is great but the duck carnitas are the bomb.
Absolutely delicious food! Servers are so friendly and fast too. The design and atmosphere is top notch and keeps us coming back for more!
Food was incredible! One of the few places you can get Mexico City quality and flavor of foods. We went for the Sunday brunch and was blown away by the selection and flavors.
Hugo s is top 5 best place to eat in Houston. Their Sunday brunch is beyond amazing. You get all you can eat traditional Mexican dishes, live band all in an upscale space. I recommend to anyone to try Hugo s. Dinner is also really great with traditional dishes galore. Parking can be tricky sometimes and you should definitely make a reservation.
My favorite trout dish-- trucha rellena-- back on the lunch menu!
Okay, so overall. The food was great, no complaints about the food or the drinks.
One thing I am pretty upset about it this.
There was 14 of us in this group, most of us did the HRW and a few others ordered off of the regular menu. We waited about 15 to 20 minutes to get our ordered drinks. We had water at the table already so that definitely helped.
It was a 3 course meal, each course took about an hour for us to receive our food.
I liked our server, the service was pretty slow though. I understand we were a big group but they could have made it up in different ways.
We were all in pairs except for 2 folks.
At the end of the dinner. They gave us the check and it was ALL together!
I even asked in the beginning to put it on separate checks.
Got our check, asked our server to separate it for him.
His response, "I'm sorry but our systems won't allow us to do that" WHAT?!
Another response, " If you tell me who is who, than i'll go ahead and separate it for you "
WHAT?! He should have at least monitored who ordered what, we ordered in order to not confuse the server as well. Instead at the end of the night, I'm over here doing the math and separating everybody check manually with a pen and paper. That IS NOT the way I needed to end the night. I ended up paying the whole tab so I could separate it later and not in the restaurant. Which was a big hassle for myself. Its not a good feeling to have guest wait on you to do the math. What if there was the case that I couldn't afford everything in one seating. That would have been chaotic.
After I paid, a gentleman came to the table and pretty much said 'the service was slow, we apologized and you don't have to pay for certain things or whatever'.
First thing first, if you're gonna do that. Do that before the check comes out.
Second, I don't need anything comp'd or removed. I don't mind paying for whatever we ate and drank. What I do mind is the service and the response that we have received. It was unprofessional and unfair.
The table in front of us, a big group as well. Tell me why their table was able to get splits check and not us. Thank you.
Im sorry, the food is amazing but that was a bad enough experience to host a birthday dinner.
I won't be coming back to enjoy nor the friends that I was recommending to yall.
One of my absolute favorite restaurants in Houston. Authentic gourmet Mexican food that is worth every penny, along with excellent cocktails. Don't miss their brunch, either -- pricey but one of the best in town. Parking is a little tricky, with a valet-only lot, but if you look at the signs closely you can find a spot nearby in the neighborhood.
The food was excellent. Carne Brava was very good. The Margaritas are hand shaken.
Food is amazing and fresh. Also, the service is wo fearful. I totally recommend this place!
Inviting atmosphere, great cocktails, and exceptional service.
3 star food minus 1 start for price. Poor presentation & mediocre atmosphere. Margaritas were fresh strong, but small and over-iced.
Great atmosphere, we enjoyed lunch today out on the patio! Food was delicious authentic Mexican food! The grilled octopus & ceviche was outstanding we loved the elotes so we had seconds! Would highly recommend, service was great as well. Drinks were refreshing also!

I was wondering why this place had a James Beard award, and after dinner here I founded out why. Deffentley great place, I had the barbaco tacos , definitely try and make it hear when in Houston. I am going to be back.
The experience was amazing!! Food was so good. Service was wonderful, the restaurant itself was awesome. A must try if you're in Houston.
Healthy and delicious Mexican noms. Full vegetarian menu. Nice staff.
Great Mexican restaurant t in Montrose! Valet parking in back. Nice indoor seating area. Friendly and attentive wait staff. Separate vegetarian / vegan menus available. Went for dinner & now am curious to check Hugo's out for lunch or brunch. Check out the tacos dorados entremes/appetizer - so good!
Great food but the decor and general cheapness of the place makes it feel like a Chili's... But the food more than makes up for it. Little pricey so it won't be on my regular rotation but well deserved of 4 stars.
Really good food and great service. Parking can be a challenge. At least they have some free parking which was valet only. Although very tasty, the cerviche was a little light on the fish.
Lamb ribs, very delicious and juicy, lots of flavor!!! Enjoyed their service, attention and quality!!
Most expensive quesadilla I've ever had (Tlayuda). Great service and atmosphere but food was only okay, and certainly not worth the price.
Would always come here because of the great food and hospitable staff. My steak are always cooked perfectly, just the way I like it.They also hold the trophy for the best margaritas. Quality food and amazing drinks. Even the place was amazing! Everything screams greatness. Thank you for the best meal. Hoping for another best meal of my life sometime soon.
Very good food. I went for their Sunday brunch and everything was delicious. Great place to celebrate an occasion.
Food is amazingly great !!! Real authentic Mexican food !!!
Went there for brunch with my family, it was amazing. Lots of variety and full of flavor. And yes, overload on guac.
I loved it, super recommended ,. I will be back soon
The worst service ever !I asked the manager Manuel to please help me make it better he did not care it really felt so embarrassing because I took new people and he did not care .His waiter was so rude some of his staff was so rude from the door .I will never ever return to this Awful service .Manuel your leadership is embarrassing I could not believe you did not ever try to make it better or atleast apologize especially when new people came to visit this place .
Always delicious! The whole family of restaurants are delicious!
Food was great. I enjoyed the ceviche most. Desserts were good as well! Went for my birthday and was offered a special strawberry shortcake! Service was a little bit slow.
Service is very weak as well their food which are very spicy.
I really don't know why people rave about this place. It's over priced, and even though the food is authentic Mexican cuisine, it's very hit-and-miss. You can order something that's out of this world or something that you want to send back to the kitchen. If you do go then be sure to do the Sunday brunch. You can see what you want to eat (no surprises), but be prepared to spend money.
not too many vegartarian options for the brunch but the dinner is great as they have a vegetarian menu.
I came here for the first time. I just tried their Tortitas Lentejas. I find it very interesting and it so healthy and fresh. It s a bit pricey but doesn t matter. Service was wonderful, nice and friendly.
Really great food. $13 for guac was a bit ridiculous, but everything else seemed pretty reasonable.
Had the tamale trout dish. Wow! Huge portion and so delicious!
Wonderful dinner experience! They offer a huge variety of food options, beers, wines or drinks. We enjoyed an HRW meal that was phenomenal!
@ Angela Ware..
Your review didn't make any sense. You say first time date night, yet at the end say there were 12 people? For under $500? Are you kiddding? You really aren't doing the eating out thing right....
This place has great food and a great atmosphere. Been here numerous times and enjoyed it each time.
Great restaurant, great service, excellent food. Marisco al ajillo very well presented and tasteful
The food is good, but you need to take care about the billing process, last time was there I left 7 USD tip that they changed to 70 USD, when I realized about the error, I needed to called them 2 times and gave them all the information, table waiter name, voucher number etc, after this, the lady that fixed the issue told me "Please, next time mention this incident and will provide a drink or appetizer, when I told this to the waiter, he saw me like I was crazy and called the manager, that told me WE DON'T HAVE LADY MANAGERS, DO YOU REMEBER THE NAME? THE DAY THAT YOU CALLED? etc, so, review your Bank Statements to avoid surprises from Hugo's
Very delicious food and very nice music, excellent attention from the waiters.
We came here on New Year's Day, and surprisingly it wasn't busy at all. We got to our seats quickly but it took a while to get our appetizer and our food. The food was by far the best we've ever had. The scallops and barbacoa were increaditable but my drink was empty twice, once over 5 minutes and with spicy chili's that was rough. Over all good food, but the service could be better
I think this is one of the only places in town where you can find fresh huitlacoche. Also known as corn smut, it's a delicious earthy fungus that grows on corn. Think of it like mexican truffles? Either way, they have it here, and it's great.
They also have fried crickets that they'll gladly put into a taco for you. They're rich and nutty, and a real treat!
Also, the buffet. It's bananas. It's extensive and expensive, but worth it.
Brilliant! They have a special vegetarian menu. Potato Tacos are a must try. Really love their enchiladas as well. The cocktails are quite innovative. I have gone with the server's recommendation every time and it is yet to disappoint me.
Lunch time is very good idea to try all these little samples of every dish. U can have many of them instead of main course. Don't like it spicy? No problem. They will put every spicy bit on side of Ur dish if U ask
The food was great! Environment was so pretty, service was good, and their Christmas tree was a dream!!!
