We were the only people here tonight as Backfin started its soft opening. Wild mushroom ravioli and crab-stuffed Mahi. YUM!
Come to the real thing soon. Harold is a sweetheart!

Food was delicious! It seems they are remodeling the inside, or just haven't opened up the inside for dining since covid.
But worth the trip to Gulfport, for a tasty meal!

If your looking for the best hometown great place, Backfin Blue is your choice. We ve been coming here for 20+ years and it is has always been the go to spot. Harold knows how to make it right. Great service, cool location and the best food.

Showed up late on a Sunday night with a group of 8 not too long before closing so the owner/chef had already sent the waitress home since it had been very slow due to the stormy weather.

The owner/chef stepped right in as our waiter also. Taking our order, then heading back to cook and then to serve.

The food was excellent. At other restaurants if you order crab cakes they sometimes load it up with bread crumbs or other fillers but not here. The jumbo lump crab cakes actually had huge lump crab in them, they were delicious also. That was one of the appetizers we ordered. We had other appetizers which were all excellent as well, especially the smoked fish spread.

The entrees ordered were the wild mushroom ravioli, salmon LGBT sandwich, fiesta chicken sandwich, crabbed stuffed salmon and I had chicken tiki masala. I know my chicken tiki masala was perfect and every other person with me was very happy with their meal.

The prices are very reasonable, there is a nice selection of domestic beers as well as craft beers and wine, and it is a very nice location. Of course right now as with many places there is no inside dining but they do have take out and a large covered dining area outside if you want to dine in.

I can not think of anything that was wrong with our meal. I highly recommend Blackfin Blue Cafe.

Their crab cakes are amazing. No flat, burnt, cornmeal filled pancakes here. The price is a little high, but completely worth it. Crab chowder is also incredibly delicious. Cant say enough good things about this place.

Low key place with delicious food, nice backyard/patio area, and super nice owner! I d recommend anyone to check it out, and get the crab cakes (best I ve ever had). Also the blueberry wheat beer was delicious. I ll be back for sure!

Having grown up in Maryland, crabs and crab cakes are a delicacy. I have been in Florida for over 30 years and have ordered and sent back more "MARYLAND STYLE" crab cakes than I can count. Crab cakes are supposed to be 98% lump crab and almost no fillers. Backfin blue crabcakes are 100% lump crabmeat and delicious.

Food was solid, super nice service they put up a separate table just for us outside even though we didn't have a reservation. Thanks guys

Good food, service was okay. Moderately priced, casual dining.

Best Crab Cakes in the entire Tampa Bay area, this is worth the trip from anywhere. Great dinner and great staff!
