Delicious and worth your money. Beat jerk chicken around here
My to go place right now for dinner. Meal is so pic that it lasts me for two meals. Service is great also. I drive 20 min just to go there.
there's always a wait but it's worth it. take out recommended.
Delicious jerk meats and fried plantains. There can be a bit of a wait because it is fairly small.
Good flavor on food, however beef ox tails were fatty.
Had the Jerk Chicken with rice and fried plantains and it was absolutely amazing!! Its the best jerk chicken I've ever had. Service was really good and very quick. My partner and best friend also loved theirs, planning on lunch here tomorrow because we cant stop thinking about.
Wow what a wonderful place!! I seriously can not wait to eat from here again. I got several dishes to try a few different things and it was SO much food! Bursting with flavor, incredibly moist, not a dry bland crumb in sight. I don't think I've eaten a more delicious, moist, piece of cornbread.
Will definitely be back! Good prices, large portions, friendly service, and most importantly, great food. The jerk salmon was delicious.
Good good, I really love the food but lately when I order the Plantins they have been burned .
I LOVE this place! It's simple and service is great. The food is just amazingly flavourful.
Great Jamaican food at a decent price. The Jerk Chicken, rice/beans and plantains are amazing.
Amazing Jamaican food!!! The best Jerk Chicken I've ever had! They give a lot of food!
Come here for a taste of Jamaica mon. The jerk chicken and jerk salmon will take you straight to the island. They are served with traditional red bean rice and fried plantains. Delicious.
Love the oxtail plate. The sauce goes well with rice.
Great place to get jerk chicken fix :) restaurant is a tad small and there was a line of people on Saturday, even after 130pm! Street parking.
I ordered a jerk chicken and fish combo. Was delicious and authentic. The place itself is small and was less crowded on a Friday evening than I expected it to be. It is a popular place among locals. Worth a try.
Consistently amazing, I can't wait to try everything!
The jerk salmon, pork, and chicken are delicious. Be sure to grab a bottle of jerk sauce to go.
Long wait but the food was really good. The jerk chicken and a jerk pork
I had dinner here on a Friday evening with friends. I had the curry goat & jerk chicken combo, which is a weekend special (Th/F/Sat). The curry goat was spicy and fall-off-the-bone tender. The jerk chicken was tender and a bit milder than the curry. Sides were rice & beans, fried plantains, and a salad/cole slaw with a very salty vinaigrette on the side. Everything was delicious, although I wish I had gone lighter with the vinaigrette or mixed it better with the salad. The portions were also very generous--I was definitely full afterwards!
Other notes:
- Staff were very friendly.
- Parking is limited. You will probably end up parking on the street.
- There is both indoor and outdoor seating, but it's also pretty limited.
Great place for flavorful jerk chicken. Great price and portion size compared to other Bay Area lunch spots.
There are only two places in the world with better Jamaican food. Connecticut with its large Jamaican population and of course Jamaica.
Got the jerk chicken plate and a jerk chicken wrap with a chicken patty as well. The jerk chicken plate was beyond awesome. The chicken was so moist and well seasoned and cooked. This is one of my favorite spots to go to when I am in California. Definitely recommend if you have not tried it yet.
Horrible service! 2 hours late with the delivery. When they arrive there were no plates forks or spoons. Call the supervisor several times and only told to wait. left a message for the lead supervisor to call me back and she never returned the call. our bill was nearly $400 and we were never given the money back for the food and drink that were not delivered. Since they were two hours late for the half of the group that was there for the luncheon had to leave. This cost a lot of money and work hours for lost work hours. Very disappointing and never received a response I will never ever order from this place again as I have ordered from them many many times!
I am in love with the jerks here. The jerk chicken that is! So juicy and tender every time and the plantains are incredible. Stop by here. U won t regret it.
Really good jerk chicken and refreshing, unique juices. My only regret was not getting more of the fried plantains.
Excellent flavours. I was not a fan of the fried plantain but the food including the vegetarian options were very tasty.
Jerk chicken was very good. The drinks could be improved. No mauby or ginger beer or sorrell. I will defibitely be back because the food was excellent.
Amazing jamaican food! The service was wonderful as well.
Their jerk chicken meal is do delicious, filling (even for a big guy like me, but doesn't not leave you tired after eating) and it's very cheap!
Nothin is better priced and better then this place !
First things first the young cashier who greeted me was a good dude. He was friendly and chatted a bit about their offering, offering some recommendations on popular items.
I chose the stake.
Boy was this a stake. The meat itself had some attractive grill marks but there was no solid sear on the steak. What truly stood out was the spice mixture which permeated every-bite. It tasted like if pepper married some citrus and coriander and then joined forces with a piece of fresh leather to create this rich, smoky, meaty mildly sweet, zesty flavor which transitioned perfectly into the clean buttery taste of the meat.
Why isn't all meat flavored this way?
It is a conspiracy I tell you.
On my way out I also noticed some people eating their deeply spiced chicken and thought it looked delicious as well.
Will try that next time...
Delicious! Love the jerk chicken and salmon combo and oxtails. Don t forget to add Festivals to your order!
Food is good but cold by the time I got it. Service, waiting times, Organisation complete mess. Waited 40 minutes for online preorder just to pick up. This is not the first time, had orders messed up before and waiting times has always been an issue. Sorry to say, I m not coming back here anymore.
Best Jamaican food in the Bay area. Curry goat and oxtail are just the bomb. I can eat there everyday and I won't get tired.
Very authentic tasting food. I give big ups to Back A Yard! Nuttin' but good vibrations, irie feelings and yes mon de hole island experience
Hidden gem I had the Jerk chicken platter - it's a fairly large portion with 4 pieces of chicken, coconut rice and fried plantains. The chicken was falling off the bone with tons of flavor, the rice was delicious and the plantains were expertly fried.
Small area and not much room to sit, but food is amazing!!!!! Service is also great!
My son said it s Jam-abulous - Jamaican and fabulous!
To be so small it packed a mighty punch. My only complaint is that we didn't get more. Everything we tried was AWESOME!! Service was good and the wait wasn't too bad. There were a lot of people inside. Definitely worth checking out.
Stumbled upon this gem, steak was good, chicken, excellent. Tastes fresh and tender.
Nice price nice portion nice customer service. Being a picky eater I can definitely recommend this place!
Great food. Need to expand seating area outside and cover it
The food here is amazing. Get the jerk anything, corn festivals. Tried the goat curry, tasty and tender, but lots of bones.
Impossible to call in an order. They'll put you on hold if they answer and never pick up. I drive over to find out they are out of what I wanted. In the time it took to put me on hold they could have said we are out of that... Good food but inconvenient.
So the prices online are lower then reflected in store so that was inconvenient. Also they messed up what I was supposed to get so that was a bummer .
Amazing food. It's the perfect place for pick up. There was way too many people inside and outside for me to sit in and enjoy the food. So I took it home so that I could enjoy every bite.
Not good customer services, not professional and on time
Solid carribean pick. Small store with limited seating, but the food is fantastic.
Went there twice, on the way to San Fran and and coming back. Authentic delicious Jamaican/ Caribbean flavor. The staff is really nice. No disappointment.
The Jerk Chicken, Salmon, BBQ Pork, red beans and rice, greens, plantains..... All So GOOD!
The food was great. I would have liked to have more curry options.
Hole in the wall with awesome food. Oxtail stew is amazing.
This place is a fraud this is ran by phillipinos and staff are mexicans. I was told on the phone by a phillipino staff member at front desk that it was a Jamaican restaurant with a head chef that was Jamaican. Once I got there it was all a lie. ITS SAD! I then asked for the owners contact info I was then told by the staff member his boss is phillipino and he refused to give me the number. Honestly if you go to a Mexican restaurant you expect to see Mexican staff, Chinese Chinese staff and so on. It's sad how different ethnic groups are profiting off people of color but are racist towards them. Just for the record I'm not racist, but honestly on the west coast there is
extreme racism against people of color. I'm from the east coast where it's not like this. From experience and warnings from people of color, I learned really quick dont dine outside your own kind on the west. Also instead of a greeting I'm always asked am I picking up food but other people customers are welcomed. Just as it happened here.
Hands down the best Jamaican food in the bay area. It's owned by the same family that runs Coconuts in Downtown Palo Alto and the newer Back A Yard location in downtown San Jose. This Menlo Park location is right near the Willow and 101 exit on the east side of the freeway and has that true hole-in-the wall feeling you get from local joints. There is limited seating inside, probably about 8-10 small tables that can seat 2-4 people and 3 tables with plastic chairs outside the door.If you're dining with a large group, I'd recommend take-out.
Now, for the food. My favorites are still the oxtail dinner plate - cooked to tender perfection with the meat falling off the bone. Oxtail gravy drizzled over traditional rice and peas and plantains, I'm starting to drool just thinking about the food. Just like the downtown SJ location, they have the saltfish and akee on Saturdays. During my most recent visit, my friend ordered the Jerk Chicken wrap (a steal at ~$6) which was tasty and filling. If you're looking for a quick bite or appetizer, try the patties.
Parking is scarce and it's ALL parallel parking on the curb. There is 15 minute parking in front (denoted by a green line) so don't get too happy when you see space available directly in front of the restaurant.
Greasy and ghetto neighborhood but delicious food full of flavor
love the festivals and plantains and jerk chicken
Better jerk chicken than you can get in Jamaica. The oxtail is a religious experience.
