Jerk chicken meal is consistently amazing. I've had other items on the menu and they are good too. The folks working there are always extremely pleasant and welcoming.
Only down side is the parking... but oh well.

Love this place!! I always get the jerk chicken and the ox tail for take out. The jerk sauce that comes on the side of the jerk chicken is spicy and tasty. You must request for extra sauce. The price and portion is great.
I always make of point of visiting this gem of a place when I'm in the Bay Area. Authentic and hearty good with friendly service from behind the counter. You can't go wrong with the Jerk Chicken or the Jerk Pork!

I ordered the Jerk Chicken Meal. Fresh, juicy, and spicy. Great flavor. Place is small but service was fast and friendly. I arrived at 1:15PM to avoid the lunch crowd and there were a couple empty tables.

Hire more people of color. Mexican's are running the show here. This is a Carribian/Jamacian restaurant but the face of your business is Mexican. Mexican's in the back cooking, Mexican's in the front taking orders, Mexican's everywhere. No racism. Mexican's are a hard working culture/race of people. But, If I walked into a Mexican restaurant and saw all Jamacin's running thing's I would too scratch my head, and say what's going on. Diversity is 100% awesome. I'm 100% for it. The point is, hire more people of color.

Great food at a decent price (especially for what you get!). Definitely a spot to visit at least once a month, especially with teammates. Get almost anything and you will enjoy it a lot. I have had the curried goat, and man oh man is it satisfying. The rice and beans are steeped in coconut-richness that are my world when I eat there. Great plantains, too. My colleagues have had everything from the jerk chicken to curries and fish dishes-- only platitudes, no criticisms.
Be careful-- it's a small place that fills quickly. However, turnover is fast as food comes out pretty fast.

The jerk salmon is outstanding, but there are no bad choices on the menu. I love this place. They do catering too!

i'm more satisfied with this then the $400 dinner I had at the Big Four in SF last week. the jerk ox/chicken combo w/ extra hot sauce is enough for 2 very memorable meals all for just $18 . can't beat it!

Delicious food at reasonable prices! There isn t a ton of Caribbean food on the peninsula so I glad Back A Yard exists. The oxtail is sooo tender and the curry goat has so much flavor. There is a small communal parking lot and plenty of street parking nearby. It gets pretty crowded at peak hours but it s worth it. They also sell their sauces by the bottle. I highly recommend a visit!

We enjoy going out. Last night we arrived in this superb restaurant which friends told us about. We had a lovely experience there with fine meal and a courteous crew and a great chief cook. We put this place in our list and we shall surely come back very soon. We highly recommend.
"Back a yard" is Jamaican slang for "back home." My Jamaican roommate agreed that this food reminded him of back a yard, so it must be good! My jerk chicken was cooked and seasoned well and everything was excellent. The place is slightly tight on seating, but does offer take out as well.

Came here for dinner with a friend, and the place was more than half empty. The place is pretty ghetto, and I parked in the lot across the street.
Opted for the jerk chicken and pork combo, $12. It comes with a small salad, and everything was quite good. I liked the plantains since they were still soft like bananas, not fried. However, several pieces of my pork were very badly burnt.
Service is non-existent. My glass of water remained empty until I asked for a refill.

Words are sometimes best expressed through action. When I think of Jamaican food Back A Yard is the first thought followed by an image of oxtails and curry goat a off in the distance look and a watering mouth. Even as I type this visions of delicious food pop up in my mind.
I ordered thru Postmates the other day grilled salmon, pork ribs and pork. The one I ordered comes with rice and plantains. Omg, it was a real delight! The grilled salmon was my fave since it reminds of eating grilled food infront of the beach. Even the plantains are absolutely delicious. The price is reasonable and the portions is just right. I ordered again today. Just thinking of it makes my mouth water. That's how good it is...
Absolutely delicious food! Small, homey, shop with a great variety of dishes. Including a vegetarian and vegan selection. It's a bit tucked away so a little difficult to find. Parking is limited but the food the definitely worth the trouble. I highly recommend it.
This place should not be skipped if you're in the area. Two recommendations: jerked chicken wrap and fried plaintains. Unbelievable combo. Most of what they have is great but those two are must haves. Coconuts in Palo Alto is the same owner but this one is the bargain with the authenticity you're looking for.

I had never had jerk chicken before and I wasn't quite sure I could handle the spice, but I learned spice is different than spicy. The flavors were so rich and vibrant but it wasn't traditional curry or pepper spicy at all. After the first hesitant bite, I was all in until the bones were bare. The portions were more than enough and I was left very satisfied. The mac and cheese was almost too cheesy for me if I had one complaint. There is no parking lot you just have to find a spot on the street I believe, but I only had to park about half a block away. I saw lots of Facebook and Google employees come and get take out while I ate. It's definitely authentic, popular and delicious.
Only the best jerk chicken and salmon in the bay in my opinion and I will travel for good rice and peas with a lil coconut milk like it should be wit plantain on th side. I come here at least once a week sometimes twice. BackaYard ALWAYS SATISFIES has the most authentic flavors oh and delicious sauce well worth the trip, it is small so get it to-go if not Smash yur plate right there...I BackAYard!!!
