This place is a money guzzler and that's it. Prices per room range from $800 - $8,000 USD per night PLUS the cost of whatever spa treatments, excursions, and food. I thought the resort would be a lovely getaway to relax and reconnect with my roots; yet, I found that it's a gentrified version of a "spiritual oasis." They offer so many experiences using traditional Mayan and Aztec practices, yet the price tags are for the rich only and performed by whites!. I find it ludicrous that this resort is using local practices to attract customers but inflating the prices, and not utilizing the local people for an authentic experience. Mayan and Aztec rituals are meant to be genuine, authentic, from the soul...not from your pocketbook.

I gave one star because the views are actually breathtaking. Everything is a sham.

Use your money to spend on more experiences elsewhere.

When the dream of Tulum fades and there is only bad treatment and nervousness to get money. Azulik and these inventions have led Tulum to its ruin. A special place where there is no room for reality. Now there are people who send you off and not people who talk. Zero recommended unless you need to look good on social networks with the photo of the day on the posting site.

It is not what it was ... They separated everything and they only let you enter a single place and they charge you a minimum of 30 of consumption that then inside is impossible to spend equitably ... That is, you put more money or lose part of what you put .... A fiasco for how it was before!

Hotel Maya spa. With incredible views and rustic rooms without neglecting luxury, on the beachfront. Where you can enjoy the spa, the art gallery. There are restaurants inside with different offers of International cuisine fused with the local product.

Sad what happened here, they fell victim to their own greed. I stayed here for the first time two years ago, my room was $99 for one night. I came back the next year and paid $300 per night, still worth it although nothing changed other than the expansion of the resort - same room, triple the price. There wasn't enough hot (salt) water to fill the tub, but you kind of just rolled your eyes, laughed and shrugged it off because although service / convenience were mostly absent, the place is an absolute feat of design.

This year the room was over $900 per night all in. I actually still considered it (until my girlfriend told me it was insane to pay that, they don't even have fresh running water) but the reservations desk wasn t responding to my emails timely. I ended up staying at another place which honestly was much nicer (in the traditional sense, also FAR superior in terms of service and amenities) and 1/3 of the cost. Also located in a much better part of town.

I feel very conflicted about azulik because there are a lot of things that this place gets right, but service and comfort were never really those things and that was fine. But they've failed to scale their offering along with their prices. Now when I drive by I kind of laugh because it just looks silly with the boutique and gaudy restaurant - it's like they've forgotten what made them special in the first place. After driving by, I wouldn't even consider staying there again as the azulik magic is dead and buried - the broader magic of Tulum doesn't seem far behind to be honest.

If you decide to stay here, you'll probably enjoy yourself - at a minimum you'll get your Instagram shots. But you'll be paying 10x what those before you paid and you won't ever know the magic that existed there for a moment in time.

In summary, if you're earning less than seven figures - stay away, non negotiably. If you're earning a minimum of seven figures and you expect a certain level of comfort / pampering, stay away. If you're earning seven figures and you want a somewhat rustic albeit overpriced experience that you can take impressive pictures of, fire away.

Nice hotel on the beach of Tulum. Very expensive. All is made of cane. It's spa is great. It has shops and the sunset can be seen from a high bar where cocktails are served for it from 17.30h. You have to go with time because only 30 people can fit. Sale for about 500 pesos.

The concept of the hotel is amazing, excellent attention from all the staff, the food tastes great although they are small and expensive in my opinion. Actually I find the food and drinks a little expensive, although the hotel is amazing.

From the moment you arrive at the door, the staff will make sure that you do not feel welcomed.
Arrogant, unfriendly, incompetent and rude staff!
The decor and architecture is amazing but the staff ruins the entire experience.
Additionally, they lie to you and check you out what you are wearing and then treat you accordingly.
Would not spend my money there for another minute...
I don t know if the staff gets paid badly and work there just for the reputation or they are trained to be like that. If it s the latter, then it s just badly managed.
There are so many better places in Tulum with much more friendly and especially competent staff. So save your money and explore other places rather than getting a bitter taste at Azulik.

Place is beautiful !! That is what you pay for. Drinks are way overpriced and not that good , we were charged 125 for a hookah ! Prices were not listed , really put a damper on the evening. Go take pics and really drink somewhere else.

Its expensive. But everywhere in Tulum is. That s not my complaint: the general attitude of you can t go there, you can t sit there, that s off limits is frustrating when you re paying prices that make NYC look cheap. On the plus side, the drinks were delicious, the bar team excellent. Nice work bartenders

Raw lobster, charged full price, no apology, no compensation
My partner and I thought this would be a nice place to relax for the day, entered off the beach to check it out were welcomed and decided to go back for the day. Arrived to spend the day, got a wrist band and 2 chairs, ordered 4 cocktails, the lobster and nachos.
Food was average until we ate the lobster, we really enjoyed it and were speaking about bringing our friends until we got down to half of the lobster and recognized something was terribly wrong, this part of the lobster was completely raw, still translucent and not cooked at all. We flagged the waiter who noted the problem and seemed concerned, took it away, returned quite a bit later and told us there was nothing they could do because we had already eaten the cooked portion (of course we had we ordered lunch to eat it!) We got another staff member to discuss this, he then left and sent back the first waiter with the bill. We were fully charged for everything, no apology, no compensation, no acknowledgement. We really wanted to tip the waiter as she was fine but this would not allow us to. We consulted other staff who just said they cant do anything. We asked to speak to management, another person came out who also said we cant do anything. I hope this place can recognize problems and correct issues and actually look after their staff so people can tip them, not let management and uncooked food get in the way of staff earning tips! Its sad that they cant help their staff, offer decent customer service or cooked food! I would rate this 0 if I could!

The beachfront is open to the public but do note it is also a clothing optional beach so if you don't want bits dangling everywhere and sanitary beach chairs this is not the place for you.The place as a whole is not clean and most staff cant speak basic English or just pretend!

reviewed on trip adviser, no responsibility by management taken at all!

This is a rating of the bar section only as I haven't stayed at the hotel.

First let's give credit where it's due. The architecture is indeed stunning one of the more intriguing structures I've seen. Also when walking up to the Resto we got greeted by a lady in white who gave us a sincere "welcome" that added to the entire vibe

The drinks where good - price is high but I dont blame them at all.

Food was interesting not 5 diamond -chef Boulud good- but presentation was done with care

The nightmare was the service and our waiter - first you don't get seated...which ok I guess that's fine. Then it took a good 15 min for someone to approach our table, it wasn't crazy busy but maybe they figured we wouldn't be big spenders...so ok still fair... I guess.

But then. He greeted us asking if we wanted a drink. Then he asked if we payed the fee at the entrance to get inside (there was no fee as far as I can tell) - when we said no he basically made us feel as if we bamboozled them. He then asked me to order food (which is fair and I was going to do it anyways - there are just ways to ask, especially in a high end resort). As I was in no rush I ordered 2 tacos besides our two drinks. He said "that's it" extremely condesededly. I told him I was in no rush and I'd order more later. Repeat this cycle once more and I'm annoyed so I ask the bill. He comes and in front of my gf tells me the price (85$ - granted it's probs pennies for this resort but still.. ) and said, I quote: " tonight was cheap cheap for you". Seriously who makes this kind of comments? Then comes crying for a tip

Listen I get it if you don't want a certain clientele in your hotel that's fair. But if you're going to do a job - at least do it well. I dont think management is fully aware of how un-hospital this guy really is. His service had more of a second hand car salesman then a member of a luxury estate. To the point that I'm writing a 200 word review at midnight on Google that no one will ever read. Regardless the service was miles away from a four seasons, ritz-carton, Fairmont or luxury retreats.

If I can give you one piece of advice it would be to avoid this place like the plague.
The place is a full construction site. With a cloud of dust, full accompaniment of generators and interested work men it is not the place to spend your holiday. We came to Tulum to relax and enjoy the sun, sea and sand. We ended up not wanting to return to the hotel each evening.

Although the art and decor may be pleasant to the eyes, the lack of professionalism in the staff really affects the ambiance of this hotel.

They all had this look of not wanting to be there and came off as rude.

If you want the public beach all to yourself I'd recommend this place. They don't allow any outsiders on the beach (even though its public property), makes for a better beach experience without all the lower class people to share it with.

I only spent one night at a normal room and I loved the experience. It s not your classic 5 star resort but a super authentic art piece as a whole. There is at the moment a lot of construction going on. It gets super cold at night and you can hear the music and people walking past your place the whole night. Still, it s worth a stay. The staff is amazing and communication runs super easy through a whatsapp service! The little beach is also amazing.

Really cool structure and place to hang. Super pricey. It s a boutique and luxury vibe place.
We went for a drink and to check out the place. Definitely worth the visit.
If you have the cash to spend, stay longer and enjoy.
We lived in the south end of the pueblo, not the beach, so it s hard to justify the prices on the beach.

Very bad dinner that we have reserved several months in advance. The waiter who served us does not know anything about the word attention and kindness. There is no wine list in the restaurant. It does not exist. For the question of vine list - the answer is: there is no letter, but we can advise you, it depends how much you want to spend!
Then there were two dishes (octopus and fish of the day) that were defrosted. It smelled bad and the taste showed that it took a long time before we were served. When returning the dishes we have not heard any apology. And besides that they have charged it in the end. In conclusion, a huge decision. Much better food is served on the beach or at the bar.

The experience is catered to you immersing yourself in nature and all of its elements. Every details was thought out and the service was just AMAZING. Marianna was our host and we still keep in touch. A beautiful place with amazing people.

I think this place ranges from 3 to 5 stars based on the time of year you visit. At it's best, it's a great jungle resort with beautiful treetop bungalows and a lovely private beach. In the hot season, the "eco" part is a big disadvantage because there's just no reprieve from the stifling heat. I'm lean and fit and heat doesn't bother me, but with the humidity this is on another level entirely. A little A/C somewhere would have made a huge difference. And the mosquito netting on the bed stopped any air flow and made sleeping hugely difficult. I caught a couple great sunrises because of this though :) Pro tip: the "natural" repellent is useless here, get the real stuff and use a lot of it. The lack of showers is charming at first, but the water smelled terrible and washing your hair with a half coconut shell gets annoying. It was a common complaint we heard while there. I did find an outdoor shower on the property but for some reason the hotel staff was adamant there wasn't one.
There was an outlet in the room good for charging cameras/phones, but not enough for a hair dryer. We also were able to get the lobby wifi from our room which was handy for uploading photos. But after dark it's candles only, so make up has to be done early if you're going out. I'm not saying this place is to be avoided, but I would definitely pay a little more next time to find a few more amenities.

Original and atypical hotels, first impression magical, we had a sea view room with jacuzzi. But the magic quickly fell for the price we expected the benefits impeccable but we quickly found that there is no lighting in the rooms, the water for the shower was haphazard to chance , the jacuzzi did not work. But put in perspective the staff stays nice and nice the very nice private beach and the very romantic candle lighting. Just the value for money not up to par. I preferred a little Airbnb in the same spirit but with the comfort and more for 10 times cheaper.

We (group of 4) ate at the restaurant and went to lounge bar. The food was good and waiter service was good. The place is pretty and unique; however, they make it difficult to make a reservation which you have to pay for, then they make it difficult to get in (waiting for table), then they make you sit down at lounge bar where the dj is and do not allow dancing - the security guards are walking you to the restroom and making it very uncomfortable . Tge hostess lost our reservation and made it difficult to get in ... So, nice interior but the overall atmosphere, pressure and even unfriendliness of the security guards absutely ruined the impression. I was very disappointed that such an expensive place lacks the needed service and welcoming energy.

A little late to the party in relation to writing ...

A little late to the party in relation to writing this review. Myself and partner stayed at Azulik in 2017, but due to the ridiculous prices it was a short stay. We thought let's treat ourselves and book that bucket list accommodation following the great reviews and video testimonials.

However, upon arrival we were surprised and absolutely delighted to find we had a free upgrade. We were gobsmacked only to find staff were escorting us to the moon villa (Honeymoon villa number 36)

Once checked in we were guided around the resort and taken to our room, absolutely nothing can prepare you for the beauty of this property. The only way to describe this resort is mid way between the movie set of Mad Max and Avatar!

The setting is stunning, restful, romantic, inspirational, at one with nature and the most serene place on earth. They are very eco friendly and very much in tune with the environment.

The moon villa was split over two / three floors with private stair case to the beach, indoor pool, outdoor plunge pool and decking wrapped around the room to enjoy the views of Tulum. It is the only room to have a shower that looks out over the ocean which is a very unique feature. For the first 45 minutes of getting into the room we could hardly talk to each other as we were speechless about the beauty of the villa - we felt very lucky and VERY blessed to have had the opportunity to stay in this particular room.

The customer service is first class, the environment was to die for and it is certainly a bucket list hotel I would recommend EVERYONE to experience!

The beach was beautiful and the quality of drink and food was fantastic, there is a bar located on the beach and of course the famous restaurant overlooking the tree canopy called Kin Toh. The restaurant was fairly new when we stayed but it was another WOW to an already perfect hotel. They do have a day time restaurant set in the middle of the resort.

Now, let's address the elephant in the room that exists in other reviews - THE PRICE!!!!!

Yes this hotel is magical, unique, stunning, breathtakingly beautiful and even PERFECT... However..... the price bracket is certainly outrageous!

That is frankly obserd, and whilst I appreciate you pay for finer things in life is it worth this much??? Not at all!!!

This hotel is a MUST when visiting Tulum and I stand by my fantastic review and feedback, however customers are being taken advantage of as the price point is daylight robbery!

Azulik - I love your resort and would stay again in a heart beat, however with your current pricing structure you will prevent many guests being loyal and returning with repeat custom. I feel this feedback does need consideration!

Azulik is a private beachfront resort for adults only and the Maya Health Center. This resort has a private beach (guests can wear clothes or not), ideal for sunbathing or swimming. Each spacious tree house is made from the royal ebony of Mexico. The house has a glass-walled window that welcomes natural light into the room and mosquito net.

The tree house also has its own floor with outdoor lounge chairs, seating area and views of the lush green forest and Caribbean Sea. The rooms are not equipped with a TV, telephone or electricity. Therefore, visitors can relax and soak up the natural surroundings. Azulik offers a wonderful experience, with breakfast and lunch, as well as a beach bar, great spa & beauty center. The property also offers traditional massages and Mayan healing treatments, herbal healing baths and temazcal therapy in the traditional Mayan sauna.

Rooms with unique Mayan mosaic baths for guests to restore their vitality in the mineral-rich waters of natural pits are considered sacred water in Maya culture. Azulik is 3 km south of Tulum Archaeological Site and 4 km from Tulum town center. Cancun International Airport is a 90-minute drive from Azulik.

This hotel, although it claims to be eco-friendly,...

This hotel, although it claims to be eco-friendly, is lying. They are known in the town for being one of the most devastating to the nature that surrounds it. It's parking lot used to be mangrove, which they filled in with sand to make space for its cars. As well as many of it's huts and rooms are built on top of mangrove. Mangrove is really important for the biodiversity of the zone, and it helps preserve the beaches from erosion caused by wind, rain, and hurricanes. In addition some of it's construction violates the mexican law for being too close to the sea, making it public property. If you rent said room over the sea, you're at risk of someone wandering in legally, as it's public property.

If you're looking for an eco-friendly experience that works to conserve the environment, DO NOT go to Azulik.

Awesome place with unnecessary pricing. Speaking of the atmosphere at Azulik you must admit how dreamy and surreal it is. The whole place is amazing, considering it's architectonic structure and it's modern influence combining traditional flare with a high class vibe. Especially the view from upstairs is great and gives the possibility to gaze over the Sian kaan national Park and enjoy an unforgettable sunset. But the pricing is just to much and does make the place a little unsympathetic. If you are prepared to spend more money to explore the whole place, you will have a great time.

After booking the sea view suite which has 2200 dollars a night, nobody answers at the hotel, no help from the staff .... to our great surprise for our first night the room was flooded because of a plumbing problem in another room .... danger!!!! Water near the electrical outlets !!!!!! We were not changed of room .... very bad service! Defective room, no effort from the hotel. Very on top of this hotel which sells a unique experience while we were celebrating our engagement. To really make it worse the hotel told me to write an email to compensate me for the huge problems encountered, I sent 10 emails that were opened and remained unanswered. To flee there is much better in Tulum.

This place is a joke.

This place is a joke.
Went for the Sunset Drinks and waited in line for over 40minutes and then the host said only 15 people would be allowed in as there were other "vip guests". I was the 15th person so I kept in line. Then, after 20min the same host said they were full and nobody would be allowed in (not even those who previously had confirmed they would get in).
Came back the next day, a bit earlier. Was the first in line and after 45min in line with other people waiting as well, the hostess said they were going to cancel their Sunset Drinks as there was a bit of chance of rain. Why hadn't they told everyone upon their arrival in line of this possibility and kept everyone in line for over one hour?
As everyone says around town, this is the most pretentious hotel in Tulum, with a lack of respect for walk-in guests. And indeed it is.

I rarely post bad reviews but DO NOT STAY AT AXULiC
The resort and rooms smells of Sewage - not sulphur as they try and tell you.
Most of the the rooms are tiny (70 sq m) with no garment hanging space.
Too few staff - who are chosen for their good looks not their efficiency.
You have to keep all the doors and windows closed because of Racoons (no-one warned us) - there is no AC just a very noisy fan - so no sleep or air !!!
There is no calm or air of exclusivity, anyone from Tulum can just pay and use the noisy beech club and restaurants at the expense of the paying residents.
Avoid at all cost.
