This salon is amazing. Gio did my highlights and cut and they are beyond perfect. Thank you soo much. I thought getting blonde highlights as a brunette would require lots or processing, dye, and damage but Gio is a magician and my hair looks so good! Thank you!!

The text communication is wonderful, makes it very easy to schedule appointments and know what the new protocols are. I was able to come with my husband which worked out perfectly. Both Alex and Jamal were wonderful and we love our haircuts! The protocol put in place made us feel safe to come into the salon.

I have been coming here for years with Maykel. I highly recommend him and this salon to everyone! This hair salon is nothing short from amazing. Maykel is exceptional, never disappoints and is SO talented. I always leave looking like a new person. Don t think twice.. GO!

Every time I go to Avant Garde I come out satisfied. Not Only do they treat you wonderfully and make you feel like family, but it's extremely professional classy the hairstylists are amazing! They are the best in town!!!!

GIO IS AMAAAAZING! For basically 25 years I've been trying to find someone who not only listens to what i want, but understands it. I just got my hair chopped off from halfway down my back to my shoulders, to an edgy cut. This is both a huge transition and not an easy cut. He made the whole process so easy and comfortable, and it turned out precisely how i wanted it. The front desk also listened and knew exactly who to send me to, so props to everyone there for knowing how to give people what they all for in the best way possible. The salon itself is super clean and plays great music... good vibes all around. I also didn't feel like i was in a snooty place, everyone was friendly. This is new, sometimes i leave a salon feeling like i never want to see those people again, but I'd actually like to take these guys all out for drinks!!!

I'm from Chicago and needed a place down in Miami to get my hair colored. I sort of accidentally walked in and decided to give Avant-Garde Salon a try and wouldn't even think to go anywhere else now. I go to Edward for my color and cut. He is amazing- I love my hair every time I walk out. I get compliments on my color all the time since going to him - I've switched up my color from the first time I came in and he pinpoints my needs every time ~ ! He truly does a great job- The entire staff is all very friendly - highly recommend ! :)

My first time there but, I soooooo connect with Gio ( we soooo enjoined each other's energy ) and did absolute amazing and exactly what I wanted.
OMG, I get to my appointment and it just so happens that MY Gio was outside and I see him locking eyes on me. As I walk by he says, Wow, a woman with porpuse and determination. Love your walk. I give him a smirk and say " that's right" and wink at him. After getting my hair washed, I have a lady comment my glasses and as I'm getting my hair washed a gentleman comment my dress and smile. Gio was like, Girl you just draw people to you, I love your energy and went JAM on my hair. If I normally feel like 1 million bucks, after today's salon experience, I walked out feeling 5 million bulks

I went last week for the first time , for Balayage and haircut , after reading the good reviews on google and yelp .
I was not disappointed. This place deserves a 5* from bigining to end .
The front desk is very friendly and professional.
I reserved an amazing shampoo, i 've been offered a glass of wine .
And my hair came out amazing, it was the first time that I was doing color on my hair .
I really recommend this place and will definitely go back very soon

I relocated here from Chicago and came to this salon and met Alex. I needed to find a stylist after 20 years that could work with my fine hair (thyroid issues) and age appropriate color for someone in their 50 s. I ve gone to Alex now on a monthly basis for the past 4 months and he has done an amazing job with my color and helping me get it healthy. He is smart, knows his profession very well and you leave feeling really good about yourself. Alex is also very personable and overall just a nice person. I truly appreciate how the saloon has adapted to covid safety and from the moment you walk in, you feel safe. I love this place !

The salon is great and everyone jis super friendly. I came for a hair cut and blow dry. Marcelo took his time to listen to what I was looking for and he did an amazing job. Not only is he a great stylist but he is so sweet. He took the time to teach me how to curl my newly short hair and offered products to help make it more manageable. Can t wait to come again!

I live in NYC, but for more than 15 years I regularly travel to Miami to have Joseph Herrera color and cut my hair. There is no other colorist/hair stylist as creative, innovative and as talented as Joseph. He continues to update my style and adjust my color as my hair grows greyer with each passing year. I am addicted! Once you see Joseph, you will never go back to another hairdresser!

Yasel is the best! He cut my hair better than any other hair stylist I ve been to in the area! If you re looking to fix you re hair whether you re a boy or a girl, he s definitely the person for you!

One of the most amazing and beautiful experiences at a salon I ve ever had! From start to finish I was greeted warmly with kindness and professionalism. My hair had become quite unkempt and long during quarantine. I wanted a drastic change and a short bob length cut. Jamal considered my requests and discussed option that would work with my hair and what approach he would take. Two hours later and my hair was completely transformed! I m incredibly happy waking up the next day and seeing once again how beautiful his work is and how amazing I look and feel after he cut my hair. No next day hair regrets. If you re in Miami please visit their salon. Don t take a cheap shortcut and wake up with next day hair regrets. You pay for quality and the most amazing results! A $5 haircut will give you $5 results and the complete embarrassment of walking around with a $5 haircut for months afterwards while it s growing out. Get it right the first time and go to Avant-garde Salon! You deserve it!

We got a terrified call from our daughter that her hair was falling out in clumps from a bad treatment. We called avant garde to see if there was any way to make it less bad or stop further damage but the guy was extremely nasty even though we talked civilly to him. This is a incompetent business with a nasty attitude. Luckily we found another salon with some experience in fixing avant-garde disasters so we were able to remedy a little bit. I feel bad I can't give it negative stars. Do not get a chemical process here. They do not take responsibility for mistakes!

I started coming to this salon about 10 years ago. My first experience was with Mykel. He would do my highlights... and over time I fell in love with how he did my hair! So much so, he did my hair for my wedding. I moved and was unable to come to this salon... and WOW it was so hard to find someone that would do my hair how I actually requested it. I tried over 6 salons. Fast forward to now, I was desperate and called Avant Garde... and to my blessing, Mykel still works there!!! Praise Jesus! i made my appointment right away and BOOM ~ he did exactly what I wanted him to do. There's no better feeling then sitting in a chair and feeling at ease with with your hair dresser. Although it's a bit far for me now, I'll be making the drive.

Also- they were exactly safe given the circumstances with COVID.

Avant-Garde is always providing such beautiful results for bridal hairstyles, as well as for the women in my family, including my wonderful daughter, Paola. I've been going there for 15 years and never once dissapointed. I even took my mom to relax and enjoy a nice day at the spa to get her nails painted, and she loved the service and care of everyone there. High class style and design. My family and I love you guys!! Keep up the amazing job!

During my visit to Los Angeles, CA we stayed at the Inn at the Presidio. Through the Inn there was a special for a couples massage at Avant-Garde Salon & Spa. Located within 5 minutes of our stay we decided to really kick back during our vacation and enjoy a 1 hour massage.

10/10 recommend this place. From the very beginning of booking an appointment, Marilyn was an angel and so extremely helpful. I came in for a balayage with Jota and I was not disappointed. This man works miracles! I was so sure it would take multiple sessions to get my brunette hair to the level of blonde I wanted but he got it in one session and it looks amazing! This will be the only place I trust to touch my hair from now on.

I ve always had great experiences at this salon, but recently my stylist left and I ended up being blown away by how amazing the staff was at managing the adjustment. My stylist left right before I had an appointment with him, and their administrator Marilyn and stylist Marcelo went above and beyond to accommodate me. I highly recommend this salon and their wonderful staff to everyone!

I went here a few months ago in October and now I'm finally writing a review (should have written it sooner, but I figured that I would have gotten over the experience. I have not). I was so disappointed with the result of my visit especially after reading all the great reviews. I was looking for a salon to replace the one I usually go to in New York and based on the reviews I thought this would have been a perfect match. When I made the appointment I told the receptionist I wanted ombre balayage as they advertised on their website and she told me that Rody did a good job with that. The salon itself is beautiful and I was immediately offered a drink when I walked in. When I was talking to Rody he showed me photos of what he could do and I thought they were beautiful and although it wasn't exactly the ombre balayage I had seen online, I was willing to compromise and go in Rody's direction because I thought it would yield a better result. I put my full trust in him. Although the salon was pleasant, Rody was not. As soon as he learned that I could not speak Spanish (Many people think I look Hispanic even though I am half Asian half White) he seemed to lose interest in making conversation with me. My hair is halfway down my back, it was a long and boring process and I would have liked more than to just play on my phone. I know he is not required to talk to me, but it came off as standoffish. Not only that, but he seemed like he was rushed to get out of the salon as soon as possible (I came in around 2:30 so I guess I was his last appointment that day). I was waiting at the washing station with wet hair for at least 10 minutes while he went to the back and talked to some coworkers. Again, made no effort to make conversation. Shortly after he left the salon without so much as a goodbye or to check on my hair. He just left me at the washing station. It was very unprofessional to me. The only highlight of my visit was the girl who did my blowout. She was kind enough to take me from the washing station and she actually talked to me while blowdrying my hair. The girl did a wonderful job with the blowout, but when I saw the results of the dye job I was shocked. Now, I've been to salons all over New York and Philadelphia so I can deal with a bad attitude so long as I get great results. I probably would have given the salon a 5 star rating regardless of the experience I had as long as I was pleased with the results. But I had MUSTARD yellow highlights that started 1, 2, and 3 inches from my roots. I can tell you that this definitely did not look good against my dark brown hair. When I went to pay, the receptionists did not even know how to bill me and had to call Rody to ask. It ended up being charged as ombre but I have had ombre in the past and although the bottom of my hair was blonde, there was no transition between the brown and blonde closer to my roots. It looked like I had gotten highlights a few months ago and needed to touch up on the roots. I did not have time to get it fixed that day and I did not want to yell to the kind staff that remained at the salon for the fault of their coworker. It looked so cheap! The dye job was so bad that I had family and friends ask if I dyed my hair blonde myself! That's not something you want to hear when you paid almost $200 (tip included, which I wish I hadn't given him) just for coloring and a blowout. I ended up going to another salon and coloring my hair back to the original dark brown. I don't usually write reviews, but this experience was so bad that I had to (except for the attentive receptionists and the girl who did my blowout, they were wonderful). I expected better from such a nice salon on Miracle Mile.

I have been coming to Avant Garde - Joseph for 20+++ years. I always have a great experience and continue to come back because I know I am in great hands. The salon is comfortable, well maintained and the staff is always willing to go the extra step to make it a 5 star experience.

Let's just say that Covid did not turn out well for my hair. But then Sam helped and saved my hair from a terrible self-color job! My hair looks like it should be on a magazine now, it's just the perfect color blonde which I imagined it could be. Dreams can come true :)

Got a balayage, haircut and style from Yasel. He and everyone who attended me took their time with my long, thick Latina hair and did an amazing job. The atmosphere was very comfortable, everyone was pleasant and I would recommend it. Tips must be left in cash though (they have an ATM on site), but it can t be left on the card. The prices I would say are on the higher end, but I got what I paid for and am satisfied.

amazing experience, i was afraid to change my hair color but I fell with the right person (MARCELO) at the perfect place IN LOVE WITH MY HAIR!!!

A few weeks ago I was in search for a hair salon that could fix my bad balayage. I read through the reviews and decided this would be the place for me with Sam. Sam did a color correction in my hair and I LOVED it. I had such an incredible experience with Sam. She was patient, sweet and gave her opinions while demonstrated she actually cared for the health of my hair! I definitely recommend her to any of you looking to do something in your hair! I was receiving many compliments from people on how great my hair came out and where I got it done! I will 100% will be coming back :)

Elena exceeded my expectations, loved how my hair came out!

JOTA is a God! This man has saved my hair (my life) in more than one occasion. His technique is out of this world and I absolutely love his work. It doesn t matter how damaged my hair is when I get there I always leave VERY pleased and looking awesome. I drive from Key West (3+ hours) to see him. I will not let anybody else touch my hair, EVER.

Bout time I get my ombre fixed and Ssoonie did a wonderful job at toning everything to ash medium brown just like the picture I showed him. He's very patience and definitely knows what he's doing. He's been doing hair for 20 years in both LA and Korea. I think I found my new hair colorist :)

I can't rate on there services yet but i can say that the customer service is incredible. Thanks to Christine I feel so confident that i have found the perfect salon for my birthday and I'm so excited to get my hair down with Avant-Garde

Alex at Avant-Garde is the BEST hair stylist I have ever gone to. I have thick way hair. The cut he gave me is so incredibly good, that I can run my fingers through my hair in the morning and go to work looking like a spent a considerable amount of time getting ready. I have never been able to that. Thank you, Alex!!!

EDIT: Within an hour of my negative review, it was personally addressed by the manager and owner. They were deeply apologetic and explained the issue. They were both helpful and generously offered to have my hair redone. Thank you Marylin and Christine!

I never write bad reviews and I usually just let things go, but I truly had a terrible experience at this salon. I made an appointment for partial highlights and a cut with Sam. We re talking about my hair at the initial consultation, which hasn t had highlights done in a year, so I am expecting to pay a little more than usual. But, she quotes me $300 for full highlights, $120 for the haircut and $70 for a keratin treatment for a total of $490! I told her I wasn t planning on spending so much and have a budget. She s willing to work with that and we go with the partial highlights and cut as originally planned.

After this she is cold and quiet the whole time for the two hours I m there. I don t expect everyone to have a great personality, but it felt like she was purposefully treating me dismissively. It was upsetting because I ve been really looking forward to a fun, pampering experience. In the end it looked better than before so I wasn t unhappy and I tipped her, but after a few days now I see it s the most half-a**ed highlights I ve ever had with lots of grays poking through. All for double the price on the website (cut and partial highlights $290).

W O W! There are no words to describe how thrilled I am with how my hair came out. This is my 4th time at Avant Garde and I have never left disappointed. This place is top notch. You feel at home from the moment you walk in till the moment you leave. Where do I start off with Rafael? There are hair stylists, and there's Rafael....he s a TRUE master. Being from Miami, I've been to many well known salons and I've never had a better stylist. He can look at any picture you show him, analyze and nail it. He listens, airs on the side of caution and ensures I always leave with exactly what I have asked for. I have never met such a meticulous and precise stylist/hair colorist. You can instantly tell that he is gifted in what he does in which he brings out a diamond in the rough with each of his clients hair. We also can t forget to mention how sweet the ladies who help shampoo and condition clients hair. This will be my forever go to salon. I don't think I've written a review in years, but when someone is that good, you just have to pay it forward.

Literally had one of the best haircuts of my life. I don't think I have ever walked out of a salon completely satisfied with my haircut. My stylist Michael was so sweet and entertaining. I also really appreciated the fact that he explained each step before he did it. I showed him a photo of a long textured bob I wanted and he nailed it. Can't wait to go back in 3 months for my trim.

It s hard to say enough good things about my experience at Avant-garde Salon. Excellent service and a safe environment during the Covid epidemic do not seem to be things you normally expect during these stressful times, but I found them both. I highly recommend this salon to anyone reading my post. Oh, and just for the record I am not one of those people who gives a five star rating easily. Give em a try I do not believe that you will be disappointed.

It is with pleasure and confidence I recommend avant garde, but My hair God, Rody is definitely who you need to see ! He is not only wonderful at transforming ugly unruly hair into beautiful, bouncy, and shiny locks; but he is highly skilled in hair color as well. My hair was doomed as I had been coloring it jet black for years, may I add I had been doing it myself...with that being said Rody removed my black color and has colored my hair a beautiful hue of chocolate, no damage, no dryness. In fact, my hair is shiny and soft! His cut is perfection as my hair has been revived since he has cut it. I will also add that I have referred two clients to him who have been just as happy with his hair magic ! If beauty is what you need then Rody is who you've got to see ! Hands down he's the best !!!

I went to Jay to get a balayage service done and I left more then happy. He did such a great job and the whole process, including the consultation, went very smoothly. Everyone had masks on and i felt safe.

Unprofessional.

I used to get my hair done by Anthony. The first few times he did a good job. The time I decided to never to go back to him was because while cutting my hair he was more focused on following a co-worker with his eyes instead of looking at what he was doing with my hair... I ended up with ridiculously short bangs and a choppy haircut.

This place rocks. Went in with my wife and was blown away by the service and how nice everybody was. I had a very pleasurable experience and came out looking like a rock star. While I was there we ran into a few celebrities and must admit was overwhelmed by how beautiful they made my already gorgeous wife not only look but feel. I would recommend this place 10 time over...

Went in for a color correction. Very last minute, and Elena was able to work with my schedule. I have never met her before this weekend and truly this place and Elena, Both , are a Hidden Gem! During my appointment I seen another stylists turn a dirty blonde into a pop of glow and a blonde with dark roots to strawberry blonde roots! This Salon by far, is the place to come if your looking for that extra sparkle and definitely want to turn some heads!! Elena will provide you a look for the longevity of your hair that also compliments your natural beauty. Personally, I recommend go seeing Elena !!

I absolutely love the salon and the staff is the most charismatic I've seen in the area. I had my extensions done there with Marcelo and I would never trust anyone else to touch my hair after meeting him! Cool hair salon in the Gables. My cousin referred me there. She was right. My wait was average as expected in most busy places. But once it was my turn it was great. They offered me something to drink meanwhile. Then i went to an incredible shampoo and massage. The hairstylist took his time and gave me a great haircut!

This was an absolutely great experience, I booked it for my mother and I for the same treatment. We both got amazing results but the one thing was the price, we both went in for a consultation so it was already expected but, if you go in for a balayage expect to pay 400. The hair stylists are really nice and will definitely give you the results you want!!

This salon should not be on miracle mile it should be in another location. I should have written a review to this place the time of my experience. I wanted to get my hair done when I was a senior in high school for prom and I asked him to do a specific style and did the complete opposite. The hairdresser was an absolute horrible stylist. I asked him to do specific braids with curls like in the picture. He did my hair so quickly and my hair did not last at all. It was one of the worse jobs and he did not listen in what I wanted. NEVER GO HERE IT IS NOT WORTH YOUR TIME NOR MONEY!!!!! LUCKILY, I KNEW HOW TO FIX IT!!! CHARGED ME $100!!!!!!! FOR HORRIBLE HAIR!! DON'T WAIST YOUR TIME HERE!!!!

Yasel has been my hairdresser for 2 years now and doing a fantastic job, especially with my color. When he mentioned today that they had changed product lines to INOA L Oreal I was freaking out. He assured me that he had trained in NY for 4 days last week at the L Oreal Academy and that I wouldn t be disappointed. OMG he was absolutely right! I love my color! AvanteGarde is absolutely the most fabulous beauty salon in Miami! The entire staff is warm and wonderful. Fabian has been my stylist for over 12 years and he continues to amaze me with new techniques and products that work perfectly with my hair. This salon has amazing customer service! Marilyn really cares, listens and strives to make sure your experience is nothing but great. I love how you can text with the salon vs calling. I received a nice hair cut from Heidy and amazing color correction by Marcelo. Marcelo was extremely patient and a great listener. He took the time to sit down and go over my expectations and wants, along with making some great suggestions. I have a new annoying food allergy to soy, and he took the time to double check all the products to make sure they were free of any soy or soybean oil! Thank you everyone at Avant Garde Salon! How to start? I walked in Avant-Garde Salon with no expectations, attracted by comments from my girlfriends and the atmosphere. I was told that an stylist name Rody will take good care of my hair, I needed color treatment and a perm. He conducted me to his station, while we were walking, he addressed me with courtesy (difficult to know where his nice accent was from but it was a plus) and asked me which were my needs. He took is iPad and showed me his work, related to what I needed and once we agreed upon the colour, he started. It was no spa, but it certainly felt like it. Long story short, Rody has a new client and all my friends are asking for him (BTW, he made the hairdo for my BF and the perms for the maids of honor, a TOTAL SUCCESS!). Don't hesitate to ask for RODY when going to this beatiful salon in Coral Gables.

I was so pleased with the service I received at Avant Garde. You are treated like family from the minute you walk in the door. Gio is a stellar stylist! I am a cancer patient and I am very picky about who handles my hair since I have lost a lot of it. I left there looking like I had a full head of hair, with my hair looking so chic. I highly recommend the salon and Gio! I will be back again very soon and my daughter will be going as well.

I loved the service at this place, as soon as I walked in they were really kind. It s a really well maintained salon and you can tell that the people working there are really highly qualified. I came in honestly with a disaster of hair that was dyed a horrible blonde the night before and I told them I wanted it darker. Honestly, I ve dyed my hair so many times and the result of my hair in this place is the best I ve ever seen. The quality of the dye is impeccable and the quality of the hair as well. I came out with my hair looking shiny, soft and overall super healthy. I love my hair now thanks to this salon because not only do they take care of your hair color but also the health of your hair which many salons mask with a good blow dry but when I washed my hair it was super soft and shiny! Thank you so much to Marcelo and I really recommend it!

I have been a client of Elena at Avant Garde for years. She is indisputably one of the most skilled stylists in Miami, with a special talent for color. I don't know how she does it, but everyone I know who is a client of Elena has total natural and beautiful looking hair.
