A good zoo, but not spectacular. Pretty sure the only reason why people come here is because of Steve Irwin - most other zoos in Australia outshine this in terms of general appeal, number of animals, and value for money. The zoo was poorly structured, needing to walk significantly far from one side of the park to the other, with no animals in between. The number and variety of animals was very lacking, and even odd in some regards - like there were 2 Asian otters there - its the only Asian animals in the Zoo, and there are only 2 of them - kinda seems weird. There were lots of personal up-close animal encounters to go on, but don't expect them to be outgoing If you want the photos - we did 2 encounters and wanted photos from each of them, bit they wouldn't even knock $5 off to get all of them from both sessions - sorry guys, no money for you, you actually lost $150 from us because of your greediness. The staff at the animal encounters were nice and enthusiastic, but we were very disappointed when we booked the tiger cubs encounter, where all the photos on the website show cute baby tigers on someone's lap, but they are actually quite huge now - very falsely advertised, and my wife was very disappointed. On the positive side, the zoo was well maintained and filled most of the day. There was a lot of good food options available, and they were generally reasonably priced too. Most of the staff in all areas of the zoo were friendly, funny, and enjoyable. Overall, the zoo was fine, and worth the visit if you're in Brisbane already, otherwise just avoid it, go see another zoo and you'll get a lot more out of it.

Absolutely amazing! A great place to take the family and take a look at Australian and international wildlife in a safe and animal friendly environment. Plenty of helpful staff and well kept facilities with transport all around the park so you can get from one side to the other quickly. A variety of animal shows run at different times throughout the day. 10/10 would recommend

One of the best zoo's I've been too. A credit to the staff, who were always welcoming and helpful. Everything was so so clean and organised. The animals are clearly, extremely well looked after judging by their condition and have space to move. We did the Red Panda meet and have nothing but positive feedback to anyone wanting to have an animal experience. If you plan to see and do most things then book a 2 day pass, well worth it. Steve you would be proud. P.S. sign the crocodile petition.

I had a great time with my family.
Although it's a big walk, the legacy that Steve has left and what Teri, Bindi and Robert have carried on, is worth every step.
Highly recommend the trip.

While some native Australian animals are on display, many are not. Visitors can get up close to kangaroos if they buy Roo Food for $3 AUSD. The crocodiles and lace lizards are nice. We had time for only the crocodile show, which was entertaining despite its staging.

I wouldn't recommend going in summer. The walk to the Africa part was very hard and we're fit. Many people looked like they were about to keel over. We found it difficult finding out what exactly was on offer and what times things were on as it wasn't written in the brochure you're given (one time for certain things are in there but it didn't give us all times or all shows). Older people would find this hard to get around. Food and drink as expensive as expected. Staff friendly. The birds were amazing. Didn't appreciate the dead chicken being swung around to tempt and then thrown to the crocodile. Fairly sure that would have upset certain people. Overall disappointing.

Initially the $60 price for adult admission a bit daunting (this being my first visit to this zoo), however, once through the gates, all doubts melted away. Such a wide range of native and exotic wildlife. The facilities are expansive, the staff extremely helpful and passionate. There is loads of free entertainment / activities (including a small water park) to keep kids of all ages occupied for a full day. Plenty of free refrigerated water refill points and fairly affordable food. Cannot recommend enough

Where to start?! This place is so magical. Steve at the info desk helped us planned our day. We hired a caddie- Brodin was our tour guide. Love these two!!! They are beyond amazing with their knowledge and customer service. We did the entire zoo in 5 hours and they took us to all the encounters and shows on time with VIP seating. Zoe was our photographer for most of the tours- she took amazing pictures and continued to take them as we asked. Lauren (at the exit when leaving) was so kind and gave us food recommendations for the evening. Suggested good sites in the area as well. The encounters...you HAVE TO DO. Plan two days so you can get them all in. Some overlap (I.e. - red panda and tiger are at the same time.) loved this place for so many reasons. We snuggled koalas and kangaroos. Let cheetahs and fed red pandas. Dream day!

Fantastic Zoo, loved all the exhibitions and wild life interactions. Really, the ONLY thing that is not super is the football stadium style food hall. Had a meat pie, was nice, the hotdog had clearly been there a few hours. I assuming catering has been outsourced to bulk food providers. People these days expect a decent meal rather than sausage rolls, withered fries and stale hot dogs. Just about any cafe in Brisbane would serve many times better food. You spend so much case an attention on your animals nutrition but seemingly none on the visitors nutrition. It was the same when I visited 7 years ago.
I must admit you have added more wildlife and shows in that time, brilliant! But frankly if you want a good meal - pack your own picnic or sandwiches.

Beautiful experience, do recommend the giraffe feeding and photo experience very cheap $39 kids absolutely loved it!
The lemurs were so cute! Just chilling around eating, being free kids loved them so much!
Amazing, family friendly, staff was helpful, saw all the animals.

Only thing that wasn't the greatest was the food court food, not fresh, sitting there for a while....... Ended up putting it all in the bin,

But overall the zoo was awesome

About Australia Zoo

Australia Zoo: A Wildlife Adventure Like No Other

If you're looking for a unique and unforgettable wildlife experience, look no further than Australia Zoo. Located in the heart of Queensland's Sunshine Coast, this world-renowned zoo is home to an incredible array of animals from all over the globe.

Founded by the late Steve Irwin and his family, Australia Zoo is dedicated to conservation and education. The Irwin family has been working with wildlife for over 50 years, and their passion for animals shines through in every aspect of the zoo.

One of the things that sets Australia Zoo apart from other zoos is its focus on hands-on experiences. Visitors can get up close and personal with many of the animals at the zoo, including kangaroos, koalas, snakes, and even tigers! There are also plenty of opportunities to learn about animal behavior and conservation efforts through interactive exhibits and educational programs.

But it's not just about getting close to the animals – there are also plenty of exciting shows to see at Australia Zoo. From crocodile feeding demonstrations to bird shows featuring majestic birds of prey like eagles and owls, there's always something happening at this lively zoo.

Of course, no visit to Australia Zoo would be complete without paying homage to its most famous resident – Steve Irwin himself. The Crocoseum is a massive outdoor arena where visitors can watch crocodile feeding shows while learning about Steve's legacy as a wildlife warrior.

But it's not just about entertainment – Australia Zoo takes its role as a conservation organization seriously. The zoo works closely with various organizations around the world on research projects aimed at protecting endangered species like tigers, rhinos, elephants, and more.

In addition to its work in conservation research, Australia Zoo also runs several programs aimed at educating visitors about environmental issues. These include initiatives focused on reducing plastic waste in our oceans as well as promoting sustainable tourism practices.

Overall, there really is no other zoo quite like Australia Zoo. With its focus on hands-on experiences combined with education and conservation efforts that truly make a difference in protecting our planet's precious wildlife populations - it’s an adventure you won't want to miss!
