This isa great shelter. It would be nice if there was more staff to deal eith people. The facility is clean and they care about successfully placing the animals there. I highly recommend getting a pet or volunteering there.

This place is well organized and full of hard working staff and volunteers. The animals are treated well and the staff is knowledgeable.

Very nice building structure offering a kill free setting for pets to have a second chance. Great promotions and evaluation team to help pet seekers find a pet adequately fit for their home. I have fostered kitties and dogs for them and am proud to have this fabulous shelter on our city.

Please help AAC. A LOT of Central Texas animal shelters were heavily impacted by Hurricane Harvey. Please practice patience too, they do the best they can.

Called 311 to get animal control to pick up a lose dog who was attacking my neighbors chickens. This system is broken. They never showed up and then told me it would be 3 business days. I finally got a call back from someone at the animal center and she was rude and unhelpful. I hope that dog is ok and I hope he wasn't able to kill any chickens. We need a better option.

After a miscommunication between dad and dog, our Echo had to go to camp for a week. The staff was very kind and understanding of our situation and they were very calm about answering all our questions. Echo even got fix and chipped during her stay!

The staff is rude, extremely rude. I brought in a dog after 2 or 3 days of having it in my house. I asked for the dog from someone else because they were mistreating it and were going to leave it in the middle of the street. I work everyday and have 2 kids so I didn't have time to take it until 2 or 3 days afterwards. In the meantime I fed the dog tried to give it medicine for worms, tried to get rid of the fleas. When I went to turn it in the staff was rude, I told her the situation. She said I would have to make an appointment to surrender it instead of it being a found dog. I told her it would die and I did not want it to. I did all I could to get rid of the worms but it wasn't eating she said take it to the vet. I don't have money for that, that's why I don't have a dog. So she said well then you shouldn't get a dog you can't take care of o_0 I told her I didn't, and was I just supposed to let them dump it in the street?!?!?!? I understand policies but to be rude like that was unnecessary as well as making someone feel like they did something wrong for trying to save a dog is the exact opposite of what yalls purpose is.

We went to go look at Staffordshire terriors after our last one passed away. The animal center is much larger than our local one and had many dogs to look at. We then found Pearce in the first run of kennels. We were then advised we could take Pearce outside to one of multiple fenced in greeting areas that include a bench. We then put Pearce back so we could continue to look at other dogs. All of the kennels appeared very clean and we'll maintained with outdoor access. In the end, we were able to adopt Pearce after a short time of filling out paperwork.

Went to drop off a lost dog I found on 183. They wanted me to wait for an hour to hand off the dog. When I explained I couldn t because I was late to work, they told me to just leave the dog on the streets next time. Horrible service, very rude staff, would advise everyone to avoid this place.

I found someone's dog and they made a really good effort on helping me find the owner now this doggy is with his owner . Thank you for Stop making this experience fast easy and pleasant

This Animal Center was the greatest. I found a puppy wondering around. After keeping him for week hoping the owners would claim him
I brought him in and they took him with much care and treated me very nicely. The staff was great!!!!!

A great new facility and oodles of animals that need homes. A great place to find a new loved one for your household. Definitely consider some of their animals in recovery as they may be sick now, but once they get better, they have years left to give.

We have been trying to get an appointment here for about a week now, and they said they would give us a call on a time we can come on Saturday and we still have yet got a call. It s very frustrating considering They told us that They would give us a call and we have tried to call them but get sent to voice mail every time.

Everyone was very nice and thorough with the covid-19 rules.

Adopted these two awesome huskies! They're super awesome and they sent them home with all the meds they needed to get better. They had a bad case of mange.

I went here with my kids to add another member to the family and they told me I have to wait 4 hours cause is a long waiting period they also said they see everyone no matter what time it is and, all I needed was an address to the foster home to go see the puppy. I went in at 5pm and left around 6:30 because they said the waiting list is closed an they wouldn't see no one else in the waiting list until the next day. My kids were sad. I just can't believe I waste my time won't go here again.

It's a fantastic facility. The animals are in a pretty decent setup. Almost by definition going to an animal shelter will leave you a bit depressed.

I will say this, they go waaaaay out their way to NOT identify the various bully breeds as such. One of our dogs, a huge, thick, crazy buff square headed American Bully was labeled as a Dogo Argentino.

A lot of help and donations are needed and so many little animals that need a home.

Had to return the kitten I got at AAC because it was infected with contagious ringworm that it picked up from the shelter :'(

I had a couple of new born cats that needed to be dropped off instead of suffering in the Texas heat. Austin Animal Center accepted them without question and even informed me of some programs to help reduce the amount of cats and dogs roaming around town. The staff was friendly and welcoming. I support any no-kill animal shelter because there simply aren't enough to save all the animals that do need help.

I am a nut for corn dogs. They are best when freshly fried...crunchy. I had 2 with plenty of yellow mustard. Thumbs up.

My family has been going to the Austin Animal Center on a regular basis for several years to walk and play with the dogs, cats and rabbits. The staff is always friendly and loves to tell you about any animal with which you interact. The staff is also very willing to listen to what you have discovered about the animals during the time you spend with them so they can fully understand the animal's behavior. They seem equally concerned with the animals and the humans. My kids love the experience and volunteering a bit of their time once per week has been great for them... and the dogs/cats/rabbits.

Such a nice place with lots of animals that are in great care by friendly staff.

I am taking care of someone else's dog and got permission to have him fixed it was only place that was reasonably priced that I could get him fixed and his shots. To give him neutered was only $65 how to get all his shots was 135 total.. you're the best I have taken all my other dog's Samantha pet and I love it they really do care. Note to neighbors what is the way for another few weeks the other couple

this is a wonderful animal shelter. clean. nicely laid out. rooms to take an animal in to get acquainted. friendly and knowledgeable staff. we adopted a cat for 14.00 that had all its shots and a tracking chip. it is all done by donations. go there.

We adopted a beautiful kitty. But it was obvious they could definitely use more space and more workers for the animals.

I brought in a kitten that someone had abandon on my doorstep, and they took her in. She was adopted just a few days later!

They found our baby and we adopted his friend. They were super sweet and very friendly.

One of the friendliest no kill shelters in Austin. The staff truly cares for the animals here. I love going to volunteer and walk the dogs with their sticker system. It makes it easy for me to volunteer and play with dogs on my time.

Very friendly and helpful and if you're looking for a companion this is the place to go.make the day for one of the pups and take one home.

Long line trying to purchase flea meds. They told me walk in on the phone but when I arrived they said I had to wait in line with people having other services done

I have gotten both my dogs from here and the volunteers and the accommodations for these dogs are really great!

My boyfriend and I recently adopted a dog from AAC and it was an amazing experience. They were very helpful from the start. We had previous poor experiences with other shelters and were weary about falling in love with another dog to be adopted out from under us. The facility is well-maintained and taken care off. I am so happy to live in the largest no-kill city in the nation.

No kill, clean new shelter, compassionate staff, excellent care for animals.

I was alerted about some rats here which needed a home, through Petco Foundation. First of all, I think it's wonderful that they've partnered with third party organizations such as Petco Foundation, allowing them to reach a broader audience. Secondly, I love that their website is kept up to date daily with pictures and descriptions of available animals. Lastly, we had a great experience visiting the center to meet the animals. The staff were very friendly and clearly loved the animals they worked with. They went out of their way to give us all the info they had on the animals and adopting them was a breeze. We will definitely be on the look out for additional rescues from them in the future.

Returned my dog Max without asking for any money they chipped him for free

I simply called to ask if the accept used dog accessories and dishes. They do accept new and gently used items.

Beautiful facilities and property, however this place is a bureaucratic nightmare!! Based on the reviews I have read the adoption process is BS, no wonder they are overcrowded with animals. I just read an article in the Chronicle that told their stories of woe with volunteers and staffing. This is where lazy bureaucrats go to feed off our tax dollars. I am a former AKC dog handler, who has volunteered in the past to walk dogs in several cities. Ive also fostered several dogs and cats. I won't go near this place again.

Got my puppy here they are so good. And it is a no kill animal center. You should come adopt.

Yes. Vien. Help animals collect or protect them. They should also see who is eligible to adopt a puppy or kitten. Ay people who are going to get them out of. The places where they are well. To mistreat them they should first see if they qualify. See if they really have a place to take care of it and take it out. Check if you have already bought a bed with your nesesari food for the little animal, do not let it go like this, no more without really seeing if you are going to want and care for it
