Well, it's been over 10 years since I've been to the Zoo. I remember it being fun, lots of cool things to do and see, and just overall a fun experience. Nope, not this time. Let me first state my boyfriend and I came to the Zoo yesterday, August 18, 2018. When we first bought our tickets at the front at general admission, the young lady (on the right- there were only 2 gen add employees) was VERY SWEET and full of info about the park. The only other positive experience was when we entered the "pelicans nest" for an encounter (a baby alligator), the lady in there was SOOOOO KNOWLEDGEABLE!!! I asked her question after question about different things, even for some napkins- and she was more then happy to provide all the above PLUS!! She knew her stuff from the layout of the park to her individual job! I asked her if she had gone to college for her specific position, and she said yes, that she graduated with a Biology Degree. It absolutely showed! As far as the rest of my 5 hour experience, HORRIBLE!!! The map y'all hand out at the beginning is soo deceitful and confusing to the point I have no clue why you hand that out. Your list of events during the day is NOT very helpful, nor is the timing stated. I suggest when you put "Encounter" that maybe you put even what sort of species it even is. YOUR OWN STAFF that walks around all day keeping three grounds clean, working the OPEN umbrella pop ups (which was 2 I saw thru the WHOLE park....?) Or even Sups/mgrs in which we came into contact with knew ZERO about the layout of the park! We had 2 employees that flat out told us they didn't know OR even whom we could ask to find out!!!! Many of your brick and mortar places and some building exhibits where locked/closed without ANY signs . There where also SEVERAL exhibits closed without sighnage (except the Giraffes). Audobon Zoo, I'm REALLY upset with Our experience, and I hope y'all do some training and improvement soon. I'll NOT BE RECOMMENDING ANYONE at this time From my Company.

Be sure to check out the tree of life for photos and take a walk over to Riverview park to mingle with locals catching rays and munching crawfish. Note that you can't walk through the park from the north side without paying admission to get into the zoo, you have to walk around.

Audubon Park is an amazing community asset! Free 2 mile loop of walking/jogging/biking/dog walking surrounded by beautiful trees. There are bathrooms and water fountains and lots of ducks. Tons of open grassy areas for picnics or just hanging out. Parking can suck especially on the St. Charles side if you're parking on the street so try the lot on the Magazine side or just bike there and don't worry about parking ;)

Under some construction while we were there, so not always pretty. We had very limited time here, as we were on a schedule, but the animals were plentiful and easy to spot. Enjoyable, but quick visit.

Beautiful park in the heart of the city. You can do just about anything there: running, walking, golf, frisbee, football, climb trees and much more. It's right next to Loyola University, so it's a great playground for college students.

Casual animal cruelty on parade. It hurt to see how unhappy some of the animals were, especially the primates and big cats. One of the chimps was hiding his head in a bucket because he had no privacy from the onlookers and no reprieve from the blaring concert that was going on inside the zoo. One baboon had no better option than to plant his face against a wooden pillar. The signs of misery were everywhere. Not something I'd like my children to think is appropriate animal caretaking.

The Audubon Zoo is our favorite place in New Orleans. Plan on spending all day here and wear comfortable shoes. Also, wear clothes you don't mind getting wet. At "monkey hill" there is a waterfall and areas to splash around and cool off. There is also a small water park with a splash pad and lazy river (it cost extra).

If you have kids under 8yrs old or you have heavy bags, I'd suggest renting a stroller. It's $13 with a $5 deposit, but it's worth it!
There are several places to eat there; a food court type place is at the beginning, a Cajun restaurant at the back, and several food carts throughout. When we first arrive my kiddo is always too excited to eat and wants to start seeing the animals. It works out best if we stop and eat at the Cajun place. At that point, we're getting tired and it gives us a chance to stop, eat, relax and regroup before finishing. There are also bathrooms, a gift shop and a photo booth there. There is another gift shop at the exit. Each gift shop has items not found at the other.

The butterfly garden, zoo, and aquarium are all part of the Audubon. If you plan on going to more than one of these it is cheaper to buy the Audubon membership. That way you can go to all three as much as you like for a whole year. You also get to bypass the long ticket line and get a discount in the gift shops.

Absolutely stunning place! This place is in such a great area. It would be impossible to be in a bad mood here because it s so relaxing and beautiful. See the tree of life and walk around the whole park. Spend and hour or two getting lost beneath the cover of the giant dome of leaves. Beautiful wildlife that isn t afraid of people. Go here!!!

This park has beautiful oak trees.
Actually one of the oak trees is 800 years old.
Oak trees are naturally beautiful work of it. You can run, jog, ride a bike, flaneur or just sit by the fountain, read a book and delight in a beautiful day.

The only reason for 4 stars is that there was alot of construction when we went and therefore many exhibits were closed. But the animals seemed happy and the staff was very informative. Loved it.

This zoo is beautiful. There is a wide variety of animal exhibits available. The property itself is stunning, with 300+ year old trees, gorgeous flowers and plants, roaming peacocks, and well-maintained gardens.

There were a ton of bees at the zoo, around the flowers, hovering around the trash cans, and landing on us every now and then, but they were not aggressive. Not sure if it is just because everything is in bloom, or if they are there all the time, but just a heads up in case you're allergic to bee stings.

Great, and wonderful zoo experience. From staff to your animal experience, and went for an interview the same thing. Don't know if I got the job, but again I still got that same spectacular Audubon Zoo treatment.

Everything was wonderful! The zoo is well-kept, fun, and the staff was more friendly than most of the zoos I've visited. My only complaint, and the reason for a 4-star rating was the amount of construction and closed exhibits. We missed out on the Dinosaur exhibit, the elephant habitat, as well as a portion of the primates' habitat due to construction. I would strongly recommend this zoo to anyone that is considering it. I just wish we had been informed of all the construction prior to planning our trip.

A park above all other parks. With clean play areas for kids, swings not broken and trash cans not overflowing with trash. A wide paved track big enough for walkers, joggers and bicyclist and lots to see as you lap around the lake.

A great zoo located in a wonderful area of NOLA. the bus stop is right there near the zoo entrance and the streetcar line is a few block away. This zoo is constantly improving and getting better every year. We try to go 5 or more times each year. If you have children and an extra day purchase the audobon pass. It will get you in the zoo, aquarium and insectarium at a great price.
