My mother is in the memory care unit at Atria. I have read through some of the reviews, which I find to be accurate. The initial attention is incredible. It s as if there is this team of people who are going to provide personalized care for your loved one. Especially in the beginning, I would regularly get updates as to how she was doing, activities, how she ate, etc. However, that does die down over time and, even though I actively visit and take her out, any input I received is now at my prompting.
There are number of activities listed on the calendar to attend throughout the day at Atria, however my mother does not have access to many of them due to being on the life guidance floor.
She enjoys the food and the staff is always kind and attentive when I am there.
For the cost of living at Atria, there are a couple of things that are not included which I find odd that I do not think would cost much and only add to the quality of life.
I have to state clearly that the main, if not only, reason my mother is still at Atria is because of the director of her floor, LUCY. Lucy has continued to check in with me about my mother, when visitors come, and her general mood/functioning. Lucy is a priceless addition to life guidance. Knowing some one cares so much that she will contact me without prompting or prodding is incredible and allows me to sleep at night knowing my mother is safe and cared for. She will also talk to my mother and bring her with her throughout the building so she can get out a bit and socialize more.
Lucy s 2 days off may be rest for her but it s the only time of the week I feel as though I have lost a great resource and a connection to my mom when I m not there.
