Disadvantages: QUALITY! I am currently student at Atlantic Language in Galway and I have realized for the last 3 month that school is not good, unfortunatelly. My classmates and other students from other levels have had difficulties with some teachers (which usually change all the time) because they do not know how to teach us, they do not have a good plan in class and, even the students complaining with headteacher, the school does not make any effort to improve its quality.

You depend a lot on the teacher that touches you, I was a month, I met 3 teachers in my stay and one really was very bad, but the other two teachers were outstanding.
This school is the best! The staff is very helpful and assisted me both before coming to Ireland and during my staying there. The course was well-organized and the teachers were professional, always ready to help me and answer at my questions. Miss you all!
The Atlantic Language school is the best school ever.I've been studying here since last November.Teachers are very good and the staffs are easy going. I'm really happy with it.
I've studied there from 2013 to 2014 and i can say that it was the best experience of my life. In Atlantic School you will learn more than a language, you shall open your mind to learn about life..
YOU HAVE JUST ARRIVED FROM THAT WONDERFUL COUNTRY, THE ACADEMY SEEMS PERFECT TO HAVE TIME AND MONEY TO DEDICATE YOU TO LEARN ENGLISH, BECAUSE ITS LEARNING RATE IS VERY SLOW.
GROUP B1 TO WHICH I WAS ASSIGNED AFTER THE LEVEL TEST IS A DRAWER'S DRAWER, BECAUSE THERE IS NO PRE-INTERMEDIATE LEVEL. THERE WAS PEOPLE WITH MUCH MORE LEVEL THAT WOULD BE BORED AND PEOPLE WHO DIDN'T KNOW A PHRASE IN ENGLISH, BUT MORE WELL IN SPANISH.
THE GOOD WILL OF THE TEACHERS THAT I HAVE HAD HAS SUPPLIED THE STAFF OF PROACTIVITY OF THE STAFF OF THE ACADEMY, WHICH HAVE NOT GIVEN SOLUTIONS TO THE NEEDS I HAVE PROVIDED TO YOU, WITHOUT ANY KIND OF WAIST TO ADAPT TO THE NEEDS OF THE STUDENTS.
FROM THE BUSINESS ENGLISH SECTION I HAVE TO SAY THAT IN NO EVENT WERE THE TWO WEEKS WERE STRUCTURED TO FACILITATE LEARNING AND PRESENT TO THE "BULATS" EXAM.
THEN THEN I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THE ACADEMY IN ANY CASE.
I'm still going to school until August. I can't understand their action. When Asian or Brazilian tell some problem to school about teacher or calss, school didn't resolve it. I want to resolve problem, so I contacted to employee who manage student. and then I requested my teacher to help me, but Nothing has changed But if European tell something, school immediately resolve problem. Many friend feel this situation. After I and my schoolmate excluding European went to school few months, we lost satisfaction about school. They aren't interested even if I didn't go to school because of this situation. I think shool doesn't have a lot of teacher.
I had spent a week back in March in Galway at Atlantic Language. It was an experience for a lifetime! Fantastic teachers, great atmosphere in the school every day! Everything was very useful what I've learnt. I won't miss the chance if I will have an opportunity to go again! I can only recommend this school for everyone!
A waste of time and money. The groups are done depending on the availability not the students' level. The classes were absolutely disappointing. Maybe it's an option for beginners not for anyone else.
Studying at Atlantic and one of the best experiences that the new exchange students can have when arriving in Galway, in addition to the excellent location the school counts on helping the student in various documentary processes. Studying the last six months at this school changed my life. I look forward to being able to return.
Top quality English language school with committed and enthusiastic teaching staff. Bursting with energy, the school is a hub of international culture and the wide range of nationalities helps to create a very pleasant and friendly atmosphere for all you visit the school.
I had one of the best experiences at Atlantic Language in Galway! I did a 4-month internship, from June to September and I enjoyed every single moment. The staff is lovely and they are all ready to help you and to answer at every question. The school offers English courses for every level and organizes a lot of afternoon activities which I totally recommend. My host family was simply amazing and they did their best to make me feel like at home. Whether in doubt, Atlantic Language is absolutely the right choice if you want to study and improve your English!
pros: + everyone is very friendly and helpful + the family package is a very good option for families to take their children with them + good program for children - they spend good time to the children + 2 times they help us organizing excursions + the international food day was very nice
cons: - it depends a lot, which teacher you have during the lessons !!! some are very good (Katja), some are not the best (no name - I got treated like a school boy - please learn how to teach adults! ) some (new) friends stayed there also for 2 weeks - first week they had a very good teacher, the second week the lessons were not good - some teachers seem not be very good prepared: did they ever read the topic from book once before? we got handwritten photo copies ! (are you serios for that price?) ... - the equipment of some (not every) class rooms is inadequate (no beamer, no Laptop ...) - no multi-media lessons possible ! - the level of some students in the courses (B2, C1) seemed not to be appropriate ! (our oral test was 1 min and we saw a woman who had to do the written test in a loud room with many people around ...)
Summary:
The employees and many/some/... teachers are very good prepared, friendly, polite and nice! Suggestions for improvement: Better euqipment, more lessons including multi-media equipement and more attention to categorization of the students to the language levels and the possiblity of a feedback after the course (for the teacher).
Language Academy highly recommended, both for young people of school age and adults. They have very good facilities and a very good organization of courses. Very professional
Horrible, slow learning, generally bad teachers, work dynamics and horrific study. The level tests are bad, they value your knowledge with a written exam forgetting to speak and listen, I have gone through levels A1-A2-B1-B2 and I swear that the grammar is almost the same. My advice, if you want to learn English, meet with foreigners or Irish and find another school. If you want to waste your money and learn little, this is your school.
I had a wonderful time at Atlantic Language in Galway. I studied there for six months and it has been a great experience! The family who hosted me was friendly and the house was located in the city centre, very close to the school. The teachers were competent and the staff was very kind. The school organizes lots of afternoon activities and excursions during the weekend, such as at the Cliffs of Moher or the Aran Islands. I had a great time in this school and I highly recommend it!
THE ACADEMY IS PERFECT TO MAKE MONEY BUT NOT TO LEARN ENGLISH INTENSIVELY, BETWEEN OTHER THINGS BECAUSE ITS LEARNING RHYTHM IS VERY SLOW ,,,,,, AS FOR SCHOOLS FORGETTING WHO WE ARE THERE WE ARE ADULT PEOPLE.
PARTNERS CONCERNED ME THAT IN THE FIRST LEVELS YOU ARE INSISTED TO TEACH YOU THE PARTS OF THE BODY ,,,,,,, PLEASE! THE PROBLEM OF THE SPANISH IS NOT SO MUCH OF GRAMMATIC THAT SOILS TO BE OF VERY GOOD LEVEL, AS OF THE CONVERSATION, PRONUNCIATION.
MY EXPERIENCE WITH AN INTENSIVE HAS BEEN BAD BECAUSE IN TWO WEEKS WE HAVE TREATED THE PRESENT PERFECT, PRESENT CONTINUOUS AND THE SIMPLE PAST, AND IT IS NOT THAT IT WAS TOO MANY EXPECTATIONS, I JUST EXPECTED THAT MY NEEDS OF LEARNING AND APPROVED MY CURING SCHOOL I FEEL THAT THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT ARE MY NEEDS AS A STUDENT.
ON THE BUSINESS PART ,,,,, I DO NOT TALK, A DISASTER FOR SOMEONE WHO HAS BEEN YEARS IN THE WORLD OF WORK.
THE TRUTH, SINCE MY EXPERIENCE, IS THAT THEY DO NOT FULFILL WHAT THE PROGRAM SAYS FOR WHICH YOU REGISTER. AN INTENSIVE IN NO PLACE CAN BE A THEME PER WEEK AS IN THE ACADEMY OF YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD.
I studied here for about a week and I enjoyed every single second of it. I miss being in Galway and studying english there. The staff is amazing and I couldn t ask for more. I seriously do recommend coming here!
I spent two fantastic months. Excellent structure, with a friendly staff extremely helpful, as well as being competent and always ready to listen to anyone. The teachers? Well what to say, always above average, excellent explanations, patient and always available for any requests (correction Curriculum Vitae or even just re-explain the lesson). In short, the Antlantic is a perfect solution if you really want to learn the language without neglecting the fun. Ps. The school provides various out-of-office trips, "free" courses as well as various parties created between classmates! Thank you so much see you! Ah, Galway is not very big but it stays inside for all its peculiarity ...
Atlantic School Galway is a great place, with great teachers, awesome atmosphere in the heart of Galway. I have really enjoyed my time here, they make the lesson interesting, while we are having fun, we are also learning new things. Also, meeting new people from different cultures and making new friends for life. Thank you for everything. See you around.
Its positive points: they have good facilities and activities for students that make you feel comfortable in their academy. The treatment and attention is very good. A large majority of teachers correctly teach the content.
Important points for improvement: For those who are going to study for several months, it may be fine, but I even consider that they are very slow to impart the syllabus. They spend many hours repeating and repeating the same thing that sometimes gets boring. Initially they do a level test and fit you into a course that is already being taught in A, B1, B2 or C1 ... in the lesson they are giving in the week you join, you will do one content or another. So it is a lottery what they teach you. Depending on the weeks that you are you will see the lessons that are being taught at that time, so you will see very little content, nothing intensive. Therefore I do not recommend it at all for those who want to stay less than two months. Conclusion is that they have not adapted their teaching methodology for short-term students. I explained the situation to the management and they admitted that it was not suitable for those of us who are going for a few weeks. They also admitted that they should take specific courses for those who go a few weeks and give more content. They will consider it for the next years, so I share my experience to avoid you falling into the same mistake. That if they accept students for a week, in my opinion out of place.
Despite the distance, I felt like at home. The receptionist was very kind with me and cleared up all my doubts. The teachers were competent and helped me improving my English during the three months I stayed there. I made new friends from all over the world and created memories that I will bring always with me!
At Atlantic School I found great English Teachers, an excellent infrastructure and staff, including a Portuguese speaker who can help Brazilians. This is important at the beginning of our journey. At Atlantic I could participate in several extra activities in the afternoon and of course I made plenty of new friends. In my opinion it was a perfect choice.
Thanks to Atlantic Language I managed not to notice the significant kilometers that separated me from my home, from my family. It was one of the best experiences that I could do, because I had the chance to improve my English, but above all I had the opportunity to visit incredible places thanks to organized trips. People who work and study, like me, make Atlantic Language one of the best schools that offers the opportunity to live in a multicultural environment, open your mind and learn many new things not just on Ireland, but on many other nations, each one characterized by a different lifestyle and culture. In short, I can only say thanks Atlantic!
Sent one of my students NHZ. for the adult intensive course in July. I have been dealing with summer schools for over 20 years both in England and Ireland and do recommend this excellent school both for its tuition, location, activities and friendliness.
100% recommended. I did a one-week general English course and never thought that five days would go so far. In my case I was with a family that provided the program. I did a level test and they put me with a suitable group for me. There were colleagues who had been longer and I joined his agenda. The methodology is fantastic. It is designed to interact with peers, up to Six nationalities in my class. All with the same goal, speak English. Very entertaining games, interviews and classes led by Dara, in my case. A teacher's ten !! They organize excursions and events to help you live the experience in the best way. I recommend it for a week and even better if it is for longer. From what we commented with classmates, everyone was delighted with the course
Studying in Atlantic Language Galway changed my life. It was a lifetime experience. I started at elementary and I ended up working for them!! The Staff is great, helpful and professional. The social activities organised by the school are real fun and allows you to interact and meet new friends and different cultures. I highly recommend the school if you want to really improve your English and enjoy culture and nature. If you want to get the most of it I'd suggest to stay more than three months.
I enjoyed my stay here. Galway is a cozy and nice city. I really liked the Atlantic Language School, the staff is friendly and I improved my English during these 5 weeks. My host family made me feel at home and the excursions during the weekend were amazing: the Cliffs of Moher are really unforgettable!
The school is amazing! If you decide to go to the Atlantic Language you will not only improve your English skills, but you will discover lovely places and take a lot of cool pictures!
The quality of teaching (did a Cambridge First course) is brillant but the organisation is really poor! I booked a "Meet and Greet" Arrangement at Dublin airport. A school representive should have been at the airport and take me to Galway. Nobody has been there so I called the emergency number I got. The guy on the line told me that he isn't responsible for this case and hang up. In school we had to deal everything by ourselves; for example we had to ask several times for the schedule for the exam. There were some other difficulties with the organisation as well... The staff is very friendly and as mentioned before the teachers are awesome so it's quite sad, that the organisation is so poor.
This school is brilliant. I studied here for three months this summer and I had a great time. The teacher was patient and always worked hard with me. I made new friends here and I still keep in touch with them. The social activity options were good and I always had things to do outside the classroom. I would recommend the school to anyone looking for a language holiday or for exam preparation. It has been a good decision for me to study here.
I was in Galway from July 15th to July 28th at the atlantic school.
At 8 a.m. we had to do a test. Speaking and writing. It was a crack kaos. It was so loud that we couldn't even concentrate. The speaking test took exactly 2 minutes and you determined my level based on the 2 minutes. I wasn't even allowed to finish the writing test.
The best is yet to come, I had booked a 30 plus course but there were still 21 year olds there and some of them could hardly speak English. So total rubbish. Some rooms don't even have windows. There were four of us sharing a table.
In those 2 weeks I learned grammar once. The afternoon hours were even worse. The good teacher had never prepared. There was always an A4 sheet for 4 people. I felt like I was in kindergarten.
I had to wait 2 hours a night for my room key and that when it rained.
I was in this school for an internship from July to September 2018 and my experience was more than positive !! The environment is fantastic: getting in touch with students of different nationalities is exciting. Colleagues and teachers are exceptional people and everyone, really ALL, puts you at ease and welcome you every morning with a smile. If I had the opportunity I would come here again 1000 times !!!
A small school but with a very familiar environment, perfect for improving English. I found myself at ease with both the teachers and the organization of the school, always very available in case of problems ... icing on the cake: the reception! Dear, funny and always ready to give you a hand, fantastic!
In the heart of Galway, this school is everything you could ask for: the staff is lovely and always ready to help you. Lessons are interesting and suited for your level, teachers are so nice and they make lessons and learning a real pleasure, afternoon activities are so much fun and very interesting, the school has a great atmosphere and is so close to the best Galway has to offer! I had the best experience of my life here. Totally recommend it!
I studied in Atlantic in 2015 and I loved all teachers and staffs. All them very supportive with anything what students needed at that time. Besides the general English that I took in the mornings, at afternoon everybody could have some extra classes about pronunciation, vocabulary or job to hel0 develops more and more the language. Looking forward to coming back to lovely and friendly Galway.
I stayed there for a week back in highschool and I found it awesome, the town is really beautiful and the teachers were nice. I can't say my English skills improved in a week, I remember it as a wonderful experience though.
