A unique place managed and protected by an association to which we contribute 90% through entries, activities and the restaurant (organic and / or local products). A fabulous educational and cultural garden that raises awareness of the beauty of Mediterranean ecosystems, their fragilities and their importance. Four times in six years that I visit and learn each time.

Beautiful site with varieties of plants and trees from around the world. At this time of year the garden day 'New Zealand' is definitely worth seeing. The Park lacks maintenance even though we are told that the leaves on the ground are mulch and then humus.

Very pretty gardens ... undoubtedly more beautiful in spring or early summer. Without distorting the objective of the garden, some explanations of the plants present would be welcome! We would like to know more
Well done for all this work!

I have been to revisit the Rayol estate for the second time in 7 years and I was very disappointed because I have the impression that the fact that it was made known before by their quality remains on their achievements. which is very disappointing because it has drastically regressed! I will not come back because paying 12 for such a mediocre garden even on the side of the road I will find better for free. If I put a star, it is because the interview is really to be reviewed as well as the friendliness of the reception staff who for me are not competent to compare before.

Interesting park for the diversity of species planted. It has a magnificent panorama on this corner of the Mediterranean still preserved the builders. Bottom: its maintenance is insufficiently up to the place.

Given the many pictures on the net and the advertised rate, we expected the garden of wonders ...
First, as pedestrians, we found the signs to get there erratic or inconsistent: there were several families to look our way.
The staff at the reception hardly pleasant.
Under the pretext of an ecological concept, naturalist and landscape, the garden is left fallow; leaving an impression of abandoned garden. Many trees and shrubs are not cleaned of wilted leaves. No mention of planted varieties.
We saw very little flowers!
The signs in the park is zero.
We have crossed no gardener at work.
The only positive aspect is the location of the site itself; which is not subject to any work.
The photos speak for itself ... (Update 1/12/2020: photos were deleted, that's saying something ...)

Beautiful garden. A very interesting visit that teaches us a lot about the history and spirit of the place.
Despite the drought due to summer (the garden is more flowery in spring), the many landscapes and the exceptional views of the Mediterranean have delighted us! The small garden restaurant is great too! to visit

Beautiful estate with superb views. A little disturbing because it is not a classic botanical garden. Too bad the buildings are in poor condition. Entry a little expensive at 12 .Prevoir half a day to be able to see everything.

We were in the botanical garden in June and it was very nice. The area is quite large but river is all easily accessible, even the toddlers had a good time. There are many shady paths. There is something to discover in every corner and the view is a blast. The visit was worthwhile for us. I would do without these translators, with toddlers handling is very difficult. The garden is also very good and you get at the box office a plan on which a lot is described.

Atypical place to escape or discover the Mediterranean flora through the various reconstructed gardens of the 5 continents.
The setting is just beautiful.
Only downsides:
Access to the garden is chargeable, the shop is not rich enough and the buildings are to be restored.

About Association Domaine du Rayol

Association Domaine du Rayol: A Natural Paradise in the Heart of Var

Welcome to Association Domaine du Rayol, a natural paradise located in the heart of Var, France. This 20-hectare garden and natural space is situated facing the beautiful islands of Hyères, between Le Lavandou and Saint-Tropez. The association was founded with a mission to preserve and promote Mediterranean biodiversity through education, research, and conservation.

The Domaine du Rayol is a unique place where visitors can discover the beauty of nature while learning about its importance for our planet's future. The garden features over 2,500 plant species from around the world that are adapted to Mediterranean climates. Visitors can explore different landscapes such as coastal areas, maquis shrublands, cork oak forests or even tropical gardens.

The association offers various activities throughout the year for all ages such as guided tours led by expert botanists who share their knowledge about plants' ecology and history. There are also workshops on gardening techniques or cooking with local products from Provence.

One of the most popular events at Domaine du Rayol is "Les Journées des Plantes," an annual plant festival that attracts thousands of visitors from all over Europe. During this event, visitors can meet with horticulturists and nursery owners who showcase their latest creations.

In addition to its educational mission, Association Domaine du Rayol also plays an essential role in preserving endangered species through research programs conducted on-site by scientists from around the world. These programs aim to better understand how plants adapt to changing environments caused by climate change or human activities.

The association's commitment to sustainability goes beyond its scientific work; it also extends into daily operations at Domaine du Rayol itself. For example, they use renewable energy sources like solar panels or wind turbines for electricity production while reducing water consumption through rainwater harvesting systems.

Association Domaine du Rayol has received numerous awards recognizing its efforts towards environmental protection and sustainable development practices such as "Green Key" certification awarded by Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE).

In conclusion, Association Domaine du Rayol is not just a beautiful garden but also an educational center dedicated to promoting biodiversity conservation worldwide while inspiring people about nature's beauty and importance for our planet's future generations. Whether you're interested in botany or simply looking for a peaceful retreat surrounded by stunning scenery - this place has something special waiting just for you!
