Previously I've left reviews for good staff and helpful staff and just a couple weeks ago spoke to customer service to say how one of the gentleman at the till was really tentative and had really good customer service at tills.
But today just been in and, If I could give 0 stars I would for this stores staff, they're not only rude and discriminative they have no knowledge of diversity or their own biased views on people who don't look like them or the same colour as them.
The staff next to self checkout seriously need some training on good customer care. The manager was more concerned about me saying how I felt the staff member was being discriminative at no point did I swear or was rude. I was annoyed at my treatment and told them what I felt, out of the 4 staff members who were there, none felt the need to apologise that I felt discriminated against just shows they really don't care and Asda do not care about their customers.

I finished shopping and the 2 paracetamol packs had to be verified. So, waved at the staff lady who was there she came up and straightaway gave me a weird look n kept on staring I had my Niqab on ( face cover, much like the masks everyone during COVID restrictions) so I showed her my face which I really didn't have to still she asked for ID so I said I have my driving license and passport pictures as form of ID on my phone and I'd show her it,she was not willing to accept this so told her to take off the paracetamol and paid for rest of my shopping. She then proceeded to say can't accept ID on mobile upon which I replied but I've shown ID on my phone at Asda before and it's been accepted on many occasions. At which point, the lady next to me also checking out her shopping spoke up and said excuse me but I've bought paracetamol before and never been challenged in this way,it was even clear to this lady that this staff member was being discriminative towards me purely, based on the way I dressed or choose to wear a face covering. The only come back this staff member had was to get another member of staff and point out ID had to be in physical form (ie, Card),so why in the past was my mobile ID accepted, and shop policy, whilst I understand it may be shop policy this actually had nothing to do with shop policy,it was Asda staff out right being discriminative because I had headscarf and face covering on and I felt it the moment she walked over and started giving me weird looks.
The particular staff member didn't give me her name but another staff member Toni Laure, and Male staff ( who at least had decent to listen and not argue I felt discriminated against) unlike the Manager Brendan who was all for fighting his staff's corner and to hell with what the customer felt, totally astonishing that not once did he felt that their was a need to apologise a customer had been made to feel this way by his staff who he is in charge of.
Clearly the lady who made me feel this way and Toni also had a nonchalant attitude to customer needs and feelings.Brendan and other staff member felt the need to tell me to calm down when I was speaking up for how I felt and no I was Not screaming or swearing had it been someone else they woulve been swearing. This whole staff attitude makes me think Asda do not train their staff adequately and racism/ discriminative/biased behaviour is accepted by Asda management and Asda.
Learn to value your customers as if not for them you wouldn't have earnings or jobs.
People who wear headscarf ,cover their faces are humans, work have a life too! Ironic walk about semi naked doesn't raise and eyebrow, or wearing a mask during COVID and some even wear it now is ok Heavens forbid if someone chooses to stay covered up be it out of choice or religion.

And please don't make excuses on policy and ID as that's not the issue the issue is your staff and how they came across and even to other customers they could see it was discriminative behaviour so why was Asda staff making out it wasn't, be true to your heart the staff that were there and you know yourselves it was purely discriminative!

The area directly outside of the main doors is a safety and health hazard, make sure your kids don t run out, or they might get hit by one of the blind taxi drivers, and some times people will pet right outside of the entrance and block the road. Unfortunately there no consequences of doing so, so they keep doing it.

Store is clean, and very competitive, just opened a fuel station a few months back, you can also Top Up your payment card accounts, and use the cash machines just locations outside next to the buss stop; which the free Asda buss stops at.

Your typical run of the store supermarket, plenty of customer parking, disabled parking and access, also child parking but the chance of getting one of the spaces is limited due to the sheer number of people without kids that park in these spaces, customer toilets are available and also cafe/slash restaurant, you can get all your everyday items here food, drinks, cleaning products, clothes and more, the staff are alrite but are in no rush when it comes to the checkout, normally only ever four to five checkouts open all week due to self service checkouts which are also slow, that's about it to be fair

Pro: This place has a well-maintained set of public toilets. This is very important as in this area there are few public toilets.
Cons: Almost everything else. How can such a large store be so disorganised? The self-checkout machines are the slowest I have ever encountered, the product labelling is extremely cryptic, products leak into nearby placements easily causing you to take the wrong item and reading the labels is not helpful in most cases. Within walking distance there is a Lidl, a Home Bargains and a Morrisons if this shop needs to learn how to do it right.

It's always hit and miss as to whether the things you bought one week will be available to next. Stock is constantly being taken off the shelves due to 'not selling' yet people ask about the same things time and time again.

Speak to customer services and they say the will sort your click and collect shopping. Left standing waiting for 20 mins every time. This is all while the staff member at customer services is aware your there waiting. Very poor and will not be shopping in this store again. Also to add certain staff members need training in customer service to improve on the bad attitude they give towards customers.

A previous experience of witnessing the pharmacy and security staff abusing a customer with special needs will always cloud my judgement of this store. I hope the 4 involved in the abuse were disciplined. I didn't hear anything more about it so I very much doubt it.

They do not accept European ID cards to buy age restricted items in this store.

I am 24 years old and I tried to buy paracetamol (painkillers are sold to people over 16) and was told by the cashier (in a very patronising way) that I couldn't buy them because my ID wasn't 'real ID' and I didn't have proof that I was over 16.

I explained that European IDs are accepted by the UK government and all EU countries as valid forms of ID, and that this is the ID that I use to enter the country and do everything in it. But still I was treated by the cashier like I was a child committing identity fraud.... Not coming back.
