The films that they show here are excellent. It's easy to book them. The service here has always been great based on my experiences. You can take your own food and drink if you feel that you don't want to pay for theirs, although their popcorn and drinks aren't highly priced anyway. It's worth getting a membership because you get great discounts and extras, including two free films (four free films if getting a joint membership with a partner).

I can remember when this site used to be an old school style cinema with 2 massive screens. The ABC cinema is long gone, and in its place is a huge wetherspoons pub, plus the arts picturesque cinema.
It has 3 screens, one of which is pretty large by modern standards. You can buy alcohol and snacks to take in. It's more about craft beers and fancy snacks rather than stale popcorn and flat syrup coke.
They do film showings for parents with babies aged under 1 called the big scream. They also do a showing called Toddler Time for preschoolers, with a half hour showing of episodes of preschooler favourites. Can you watch Hey Duggee on the big screen here? A-woof.

The new home of the old Arts House Cinema in Cambridge.
Great films are shown, Classic Sundays among them but what's with taking cafe food, beer, wine etc into the cinema itself?
Two hours people. Two hours of sitting down and concentrating on a film without breathing your beery winey breath down my neck.

I had a smoothie with diary milk, coffee and peanut butter that was really bad, I couldn't finish it. The selection of sandwiches in the cafeteria is very small. The place is nice and has a very cuca store.

Nice cinema shame about the cafe.

Nice cinema shame about the cafe.

Like other reviewers we found the cinema really nice with comfy seats and actually enough legroom (I'm 6'2"). However, we went for a snack beforehand and found the cafe experience extremely poor. Maybe it was because it was a Monday night but they didn't have either my starter choice (squid) nor my mains choice (chicken burger) available. They even said they only had one portion of chips available! My wife had the soup of the day which was bland with no taste. And what we eventually had I thought was overpriced.

Sorry to go on about the cafe rather than the cinema but this was all part of our evening out experience and, given a little effort, they could make it so much better. Another small gripe - why print a menu in such small font size that you can hardly read it!

Otherwise - I can really recommend the movie we saw - "The Good Liar" - great film!

Once again I was disappointed by the organisation of the arts picturehouse. Kept waiting to enter the cinema. No trailers. The lights were left on when the film started. The lights were not put on when the film ended. They really need to up their game. The film was great.

Great cinema with a decent bar, solid prices and really good deals for students. Regular showings of even new films in 70mm and 35mm, which is great for people who like the analogue experience. The place to go for film in Cambridge.

Screen size, customer service and membership option puts Vue and Cineworld to shame. The staff were incredibly helpful and the audio/visual experience was truly immersive. The food served is of great quality, if a little pricey. But as a cinema, it's the best in Cambridge.

The best place to watch indie movies with no chavy teenagers talking or throwing popcorn around. Very civilized, you can bring a bottle of wine in with you from the bar. Simply glorious!

Arts indeed. Everything feels quite artsy and posh. Movies are good but quite expensive. Seating is worse than at Vue s. Close to spoons, so you can grab a bite there before going to the movie

Staff were very friendly and they were complying with all requirements regarding cleanliness, social distancing and they even take your details if any issue arises . Very , very good service.

The Picturehouse is always decent. The membership packages are often extremely good value for money - the free tickets with the student membership essentially mean the membership pays for itself instantly. The bar is good offer a wide selection of drinks and some decent small meals also. Being a Picturehouse it offers a broader range of films than other nearby cinemas. Seats are of a standard cinema quality - they aren't recliner style bariatric seating found elsewhere. Traditional cinema, and you can take your (alcoholic) drinks with you to the screen, making it feel a little more adult in nature than your average Vue.

I was enjoying a drink with a friend at the Arts Picturehouse on Saturday the 3rd of June 2017.
We were having a good time when all of a sudden at around 6.15pm one of the bar staff approached the table with a menu / drinks list on a clipboard.
The bearded person with dark hair did not acknowledge us, he then proceeded to insert the menu / clipboard into the tables menu holder.

I was baffled as we already had one on the table, I pointed to it and told the bar keep, he simply shrugged and walked away in a very rude manner.
He then returned to stand next to his barkeep friend laughing.

What a rude little man, he should take a btec in customer service or something.

Won't be going there again.

Great cinema with lots of screens, great seats, great leg room and fantastic sound/picture/view. However the downside is that the older cinema screen numbers have been rubbed off so it's a struggle to find what seat is yours.

The cinema Cambridge needs. The only place in town where "non-commercial" movies otherwise known as "foreign" are screened. There is a fairly big difference between the big screen room and the small ones in terms of video and sound quality, More
