It couldn't have been better if I had been in a 5 Star hotel. This was my fourth surgery there but my first extended-stay and the care and professionalism was great. God bless all of you at Arkansas Surgical Hospital . Thank You

All was good until morning I was to check out.

All was good until morning I was to check out.
Case Manager wanted answers and I hadn't even been out of bed yet. She didn't get it. I wanted to walk before I knew where I was going to a rehab (as doctor and I had talked prior to surgery) or home (with not enough support). She was insistent that I decide. I told her 3-4 times I needed to get up and do PT first. She didn't seem to care. I just needed out. I was interfering with HER JOB it seemed??? After getting up and doing PT for first time, THEN I felt more knowledgeable about "How I was doing."

Everyone rushed in that last morning and I couldn't make one decision fast enough without someone else pushing for another answer. I was barely regaining feeling and thinking and felt pushed by everyone coming and going like Hurry, Hurry. Would have made it calmer to not have machine people, PT for the FIRST TIME, Case Manager, & RN trying to tell me info AT THE SAME TIME??? Literally it was chaos with too many disciplines at one time...and I, the patient, had not even been in PT ONE time. I did not have a clue as to how "I, the patient" was. BUT I was to know what I needed, where I was going, etc. I had the impression I would go to a rehab when going in. I had thot that was the plan until discharge morning when everyone hit the room informing me of their discipline.

I was overwhelmed with wires and equipment and people and knew I did not have home care lined up.

It all worked out, but really threw me for extra surprise and sense of being overwhelmed all at once.

I knew about the CPM at home. Had no idea of the leg wraps for 22 hours a day for 2 weeks. I live alone...pretty intimidating to get hit with so much "to do" and you are going home in 30' or so. Case Manager just stood and wanted my answers. That was not organized well at all. Finally I got people lined up and then everyone was fine that I left at 11:30. I was afraid I couldn't get a ride until mid afternoon. I don't live in Little Rock.

I never saw a wash cloth or was offered one until day I went home. Nurses were nice, but I never washed my face or brushed my teeth first whole day maybe?
No family or friends could stay. I was groggy.
Would be good to offer patients those two things post-op too if no family around.

I enjoyed the staff and felt they cared. The wash cloth & toothbrush would have been good to offer...patients are coming out of anesthesia and are "learning as they go."
I had no idea of the epidural process...I was stunned by no feeling in my legs and inability to move.

I was really unprepared as to what to expect with an epidural and change in DC planning and those leg wraps. I went from independence upon entering hospital to total surprise to figuring everything out in an hour. Maybe discharge planning could have come day before to explain what was happening? Threw me off base. Especially, as I truly thot I was going to a rehab prior to the surgery.

A family member was able to swing agenda to come to Hot Springs immediately vs the first few days after a rehab stay as we had planned initially. This may have been my doctor's office job, but I thot I had time to get home team lined up later while in rehab.

Recently Dr. Clay Riley repaired multiple problems on my right shoulder. I was in patient over night in a wonderful room that could be compared to a hotel suite. Although I don't recall most of the night, my Mom stayed in the room with me. She couldn't believe the attention provided by the nurses and staff. Not only were they catering to me, they made sure she had everything needed to make her night pleasant. I would like to commend all that participated, especially Dr. Riley, his team, post op, recovery, the precious gentleman that kept me pain free for about 30 hours and John Holland for his work in the OR and for keeping my family informed. It is a tough surgery, but therapy, a must almost has me back to perfect. I wouldn't consider any other hospital.

The entire process was smooth. The lady that checked us in was extremely cheerful for so early in the morning. Dr. Mason was through and provided a great bedside manner. He even noticed I had straightened my hair to make that process easier during my recovery. The nursing staff was friendly and kept a constant check on me. My husband's stay with me was comfortable as well. He had his own space to sleep that wasn't an arm chair next to my bedside. I will definitely be singing your praises. May God continue to bless your facility to be a blessing to many more people in the future.

I had surgery three weeks ago at the Arkansas Surgical Hospital in Maumelle. I remember caring professional staff and a private room/suite that would fit in well at a 4-Star hotel! I only stayed two nights, but I also remember delicious food! I felt safe and knew I was well on the road to recovery!

As always, outstanding care and service. Housekeeping had our room immaculate, the food was as good as any Five Stars restaurant, nursing care was outstanding and I'd like to give a "shout out" to two, highly trained, caring and professional nursing assistants, Ericka and Makaila. Ericka worked when my husband was in pain and reacting to medication. She was professional, put forth every effort to make him comfortable and happy. It was a pleasure to have her at his bedside. My only suggestion for improvement would be to add additional handicapped parking and parking period. We arrived at 9:10 a.m. I had to park at the Emergency Room entrance because the front lots were full.

It's like they took all the negatives from other hospitals and fixed them. The staff very professional and polite. The doctors top notch and nurses very professional and will do everything they can to to make your stay as comfortable as possible. If you must have surgery I would highly recommend Ark Surgical Hospital.

The staff was very professional the day I arrived. I waited a short time from check in and was called back to prep for surgery. The nurse doing my prep was very friendly and courteous. After prep, surgery time was a little over an hour wait. My carpal tunnel and cubital tunnel surgery went well. It did take me a little longer to wake up from the anesthesia than what it should have and it made me nauseated. My surgeon, Dr. Rhodes was very professional and even called to check on me the next day. I plan on having the same surgery on my other arm this summer.

The staff is top notch. So kind and helpful. Can't say enough about Pam, the nurses aid. She always went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable and had everything we needed. It was nice to have the pull out bed for my husband to stay with me. I appreciate this facility's staff so much more than I can express. It was a difficult surgery and their kindness meant the world!!

I cannot say enough about the superb care given by each and every person working at Arkansas Surgical Hospital. This past week's ACDF surgery was my fourth time at A.S.H. and my third surgeon. I travel past at least 5 other hospitals that could have done the surgery because A.S.H. is the best. I appreciate the attention paid to each aspect of my medical care, from infection prevention to excellence in medical treatments to physical comforts and so on. The whole experience has been pleasant and effective.

I had back surgery there a year ago on Aug.16. The nurses are wonderful and Dr.Thomas did my surgery and he is a wonderful doctor.I thank God for sending me to him.He has done all my surgeries and I love it that he prays for you before he does surgery and gives God the Glory. I have recommended him to others and am taking my father to him tomorrow after he has his MRI at your hospital.

Due to high number of surgeries I had to share a room with someone else, wasn't bad though, a lot of sleeping that night so a roomate wasn't an issue. Got to go home the next morning. Dr. Calhoun and all the staff were excellent.

Overall I received great care. I was scheduled to arrive at 9:00am and surgery would be btw 11:30&12:30. We received a call before we arrived that they had a cancellation and could we get there earlier. So we arrived around 8:30, checked in and I was taken back within 10 minutes. The next hours of waiting were a little upsetting because I was not taken back until 1:30pm, when we ask what was taking so long, the nurse stated " well your surgery is scheduled for 1:30pm." Not sure how the schedule was changed and I kept in mine of sometimes a case may take longer. We were put in a nice room and the nurses were great at trying to keep me comfortable. Hopefully I will not have to have another surgery, but would definitely use this hospital again.

I have had three surgeries at ASH in the past year. I am amazed at the level of care and compassion that the doctors, nurses and complete staff have towards the patient. The hospital stay was wonderful. The rooms for the patient are beyond a high 5 point star hotel but mostly it is exceptionally comfortable for the family of the patient. I cant imagine going anywhere else for surgeries as I am now spoiled by the medical staff and hospital.

Everyone from the reception desk to the pre-op personal and the doctors were very courteous and informative. After the surgery everyone was just as helpful. The room was really nice and accomodating and the meals were very good. This was the best hospitalization I've ever experienced. Keep up the hospitality and excellent care.
Thank you

This hospital is absolutely the best!! I've had several procedures done there both as an outpatient and overnight. Drs Rosenzweig and Dr Adametz are 2 of the best physicians in Arkansas if not in the whole country and the staff at the hospital is exceptional.

I am personally TERRIFIED of surgeons, surgery and doctors in general. I went to an appointment (my first) with Dr. Mason a week ago today... to say I was nervous is an understatement. We talked, he did some routine checks... and he decided I needed to have surgery on my lower spine. The next day to be exact.
That sent me into panic mode. But its ok.
Let me start with: my insurance is very difficult to work with. He made a decision to do my operation PRIOR to receiving authorization from my insurance company, and his nurse and assistant are pushing it thru the insurance. His compassion is amazing, his staff are amazing.
I dont remember ALL of the names, but I want to give special thanks to Dr. Mason, i believe Brandy was his assistant in the office, and his office nurse. You guys are awesome.
To the beautiful red head at the front desk, thank you much for having a bright and beautiful personality to match your physical features.
To the lady running the cafeteria, you are a hoot and make sur everyone that walks thru the doors is taken care of. Keep on rockin it girl!
To the wonderful RN I had right out of surgery... I have tried so hard to remember your name, and I'm almost positive it was Sara, girl you are sweeter than pie. Down to earth. Make sure everyone is comfortable. And your comments of coffee and gossiping are well remembered thank you.
Now, I had some amazing CNAS too, but Laronda is the one I remember most. We chatted about our families and various little things while you worked. You were compassionate towards my husband too! I appreciate all of this.

THERE IS NO BETTER PLACE in my mind or eyes to go if you need surgery. The LEVEL of care and compassion you receive is amazing. For once I felt completely confident in my Doctor and the others that work there. You can tell that the doctors do their best to make their nurses and staff feel appreciated, and in return they all make the patients and family feel comfortable and appreciated.

Dr. Mason, even with your own health concerns pressing in on you... you were thoughtful of me as an individual. You may do this everyday of your life, but you are truly an angel on this earth! Thank you so very much for caring for me as person and not just another patient. Thank you for not dismissing my pain, my problem and my emotional state as well. Everyone of you are Angel's. Keep on being amazing.
