To be honest, we LOVED the mountain, but we paid for a private lesson and felt WAY overcharged for what we learned. The staff ensured us private lesson was the way to go.. well they got our money, and we left 3hrs later feeling like beginners still.

Great snow, had fun on the mountain! BUT..... You better get there EARLY or you'll spend literally an hour + trying to park and get their shuttle back up to the resort. It's unfortunate!
Great Place to ski at. Make sure to get there early because of traffic. If Loveland Pass is closed, it is difficult to get there. High altitude which means great Alpine skiing.
Low key (for colorado). Excellent terrain when conditions are good. Icy days favor skiers over snowboarders. Good tuneup and rental shop for the money. Best bar at a resort in central CO. Limited parking. Fun staff
Great mountain with a locals vibe. It's hard not to have a blast on the slopes or if you hit the beach. Don't even get me started on the quality of the staff - it's phenomenal!
One of the best skiing vibes that I have found at any mountain. The terrain has some super challenging stuff which is an absolute blast, and it seems like the mountain avoids all of the corporate B.S.. Better priced than the majority (maybe all?) mountains in that area. I will be back, hopefully numerous times in my life!
Always the place locals and advanced skiers go. Was part of Epic pass but not for next year anyway. Lifts are not the fastest speeds and they make your take pass out to see and scan it which is annoying for me. They have lots of party days and known for they tailgate party area. Parking is mostly free and closer than most. Elevation is high for some..
We have access to this mountain as part of our Keystone pass and have skied it a few times. It's a little closer of a drive and tends to be more of a destination for locals and therefore not as crowded. The runs not very well described and kind of need to be explored and therefore better geared toward the intermediate to advanced skier.
It seems to be very well liked by very advanced skiers which are drawn to very technical runs and terrain. The lifts are older and can take a while to get to the top of the mountain and inevitably stopped halfway and tends to limit the number of runs you can get in a day.
Excellent ski school staff. Nora and Gunther are the best ever! Highly recommend this place. Make sure to carpool with 3-4 people if you want a discounted lift ticket and free parking.
Best place for "locals" - lift lines move fairly quick and they're always pleasant. Plenty of more challenging terrain. Takes EPIC local pass. We totally enjoy tailgating A-basin style.
First time snowboarding here and all I can think is how great this place if it has a good base, when I went there were a few runs with more rocks and tree stumps showing that I thought would be acceptable, but I'd probably try again eventually
This is a complaint about employees who poorly handled a situation that was aggravating. A couple of snowboarders purposely, and majorly, roosted a beginner who had fallen on an easy run. She was already frustrated with herself for the difficulty she was having learning to ski, and then gets totally swamped with snow from a couple of jerks. They were confronted at the lift lines and only wanted to fight about it as they had that kind of mentality. When the lift operator checking passes was told what went down, he did nothing. At that point multiple people started complaining to other lift ops about these guys because they had seen the same thing that I saw. It suddenly was clear that this group was friends with the lift ops as one other lift op came over and gave flack to those reporting the group, instead of confronting the entire situation. The lift ops had the nerve to bark at those reporting the incident, yet let the accused get on the lift. At that point, foul language was flying from multiple skiers who were angry with the entire situation.
One lift op who had already been sarcastic with those complaining had the nerve to say, "I would have apologized but because of how you are handling this....you need to calm down or I am gonna take your ticket!" as we watch the snowboarders riding the lift away from those complaining, all the while laughing at us...
"Dude, we have been complaining to you and the others for 2 minutes now and you're gonna pull that? You not only let them go but have the nerve to pull that? F YOU! TAKE MY TICKET AND LET'S GO SHOW YOUR BOSS THE VIDEO!!! Yeah, It is all on video, including you!...the camera is still running!" Yeah, that lift op wanted to get out of there real quick...and so did our entire group, even though our day was not finished. We all went to the car and left. A good day ruined...thanks guys.
We came to Colorado to ski as a large group this week. We chose Arapahoe as it had good reviews for all levels of skiing. We are sorry we made that choice. We have additional days we are supposed to ski there as we bought advance tickets, but due to how the lift ops handled the situation, most of our group does not want to go back.
The best of the best. Definitely a locals hill and more geared towards black and double black diamond skiers. My favorite place to ski in Summit County.
A Basin is a skiers mountain ,that's what makes it great.Dont come here if your a beginner looking for easy slopes. I made tracks in fresh powder while all the other resorts were long closed. I love this place, don't come here.
I dont ski or snowboard, but the disc golf course during the summer is real fun. Mix of short and long holes, easy to lose a disc if you arent paying attention.
Great place to ski! I love how short but fun the runs are and the lessons there are nice and straightforward. Beautiful place and short lines to get on the lifts! Great place to ski.
First time here and really loved it. Lots of different types of terrain for more advanced skiers/boarders. Only reason for 4 stars was the building with the lockers closed and locked up before it it was supposed to and our things got locked inside.
Great place to ski. A lot of local skiers. Higher elevation than the rest of the resort around. Mountain ski lodge at the middle od the mountain is the great place to eat and rest, the view is fenamenal.most of Lifts are regular not express.
I went to Arapahoe this past weekend (5/11) and had a great time! As an intermediate skier there were plenty of options, especially for may. The staff was really great and the lines weren't bad at all.
If you want big mountain skiing with a small town feel look no further. The people are so nice, and the skiing is top notch, on a blue bird day hike the East Wall and descend into one of the gnarliest runs in summit county! Fantastic place
The Legend! Araphoe Basin is by far the best ski mountain on the front range. I have been frequenting this mountain ever since I was a toddler and can attest to the wide range of runs perfect for my 80 year old grandparents, bringing your kids for their first time skiing or for experts to hike up the East Wall. Love this place and hope that it keeps its local vibe for the next 20 years!!
After just moving to Colorado and visiting this place for the first time, I will certainly be getting a season pass for next year. So much great terrain for all levels. Some nice traverses and chutes. Excited to come back next week!
Parking was full today so you had to take two shuttles from keystone. It's good to be aware of parking issues on really heavy traffic days. The lifts were not too bad considering the amount of cars.
A-Bay is easily the best resort in Summit County; it is consistently the least crowded, has the best vibe, great services (hooray 6th Alley!), and the best steep terrain. The East Wall chutes are late to open but offer some of the gnarliest in-bounds terrain in Colorado, and some of the Pali tree lines can't be rivaled. Here's to The Legend!
A basin is the best resort in the area. Breck and and the other places are just too expensive for my tase. Abasin will also be leaving the Epic chain of ski resorts next year, which will probably also lower the price. The mountain is big and the season is long. If you come to the area for skiing, come here.
Great close mountain! Needs more high speed lifts though. One on the front side, quad. Then A fixed triple the rest of the way up. Back side, Montezuma bowl, fixed triple with a loading area where everyone stops right in the middle of the entrance! Keep going Off to your right people! Have some courtesy please!
Putting in another slow lift in the beavers this summer. Think they're also replacing the slow double on the moguls with a newer slow triple? Not sure about the details. Gullies are hike back, no t bar up a man made mound or anything.
Needs more high speeds, needs more lifts in general. T bars and ropes. Things could be positioned more conveniently as well.
Still, glad to ski thorough May! Can't beat that. If that means I gotta wait a while in lines and lifts, sigh.... Grumble... OK.
