I went in yesterday and had to wait over 30 minutes to be brought to a room. Had to wait another hour to be seen by the doctor who didn t really seem to care about symptoms but more worried about how swamped they were in her words. I had to listen to a lot of nurses and doctors saying some horrible things about their pateints as the nursing station was right outside of my room which is unexceptable. The nurse gave me a flu swab and sent me away with a viral infection diagnosis. I knew something was worse so I went into the Urgency Room right after to be treated with such professionalism, care and kindness. I was also diagnosed with pneumonia within 30 minutes. I am baffled by how this place is still up and running as this is the third time I have been there and had to go directly to another place to get the real diagnosis.

Highly discourage anyone from going here. The Doctor failed to mention there was blood in my daughters urine (she has a bleeding disorder so this is especially pertinent information) and gave her antibiotics that her Pediatricians office determined upon looking at preliminary and cultured lab results never should have been treated. The communication for over a week on my end trying to get the truthful and whole story from AV Medical Center was a nightmare. I was given excuses and people covering up information that was given to me by one person and changed after speaking to another person etc.

Very disappointing care at the Urgent Care Friday for severe pain of family member. 2 basic lab tests, no scans, about 5 seconds for doctor's exam. Sent home, offered no pain relief, told to go to the ER if it gets worse (which is where we ended up less than 12 hours later). Did not listen to either of us. We seemed to be an inconvenience. We will not be returning to this urgent care in the future.

Calling to schedule an appointment today took me 55 minutes. There is a 25 minute wait just to get someone to answer and then once they do you will be transferred to talk to someone else who will eventually return you to the queue and then you will be forced to wait in line again to schedule. It should NOT take that long to just schedule an appointment. I hope changes can be made.

I would not go to this clinic for anything more than a cold. My experience with the healthcare providers has been negative. The exception is the doctors of the urgent care seem really competent. I have had success seeing them. I had pre skin cancer and the healthcare provider I was seeing told me it was eczema and to use an over the counter treatment. I went to a doctor at another clinic and she knew immediately what it was and referred me to a dermatologist.

I would not go to this clinic again.

I have always found good service and good Dr's here. Urgent Care has been pretty fast too. They have shown real interest in my health. Every summer they have an open house. Free prizes, free food , bouncy house for kids, band for all. The Dr's have tables set up for you. Got a free hearing check. However you can tell Insurance has put a lot of limits on your time with Dr's. I've been other places. Prices are not any more here.
Had to be here today. In, seen by Dr. Everyone nice. Got some tests done. Going home. Easy .

This place is a complete dissaster. They are all very friendly, but soooo very incompetent. I can almost say everytime we have gone there, there is a problem. Perscriptions do not get sent over to the pharmacy, they lost our medical records that we sent over several times. We have had to resend them. Dr's code things incorrectly and then you spend months trying to fix the problem with people who are clueless. Every diagnosis we have gotten from the Dr's are usually wrong. One Dr for my kids through urgant care said my daughter had an ear infection and then they put them on meds. We went back for a follow up and new Dr. say first Dr was wrong. I had vertigo for 3 months and my dr said I had an ear infection and put me on meds. I finally went to my chiropractor and I was better in one visit, pinched nerve in my neck. I have been sent out twice for a breast exam and a Dietician to a hospital or they will reccommend U Of M for a dieticien. Really??!!! Plus these places will charge hospital fees and dr fees and equiptment fees. SO DON'T GO. Find a clinic where insurance bills usually as a co pay. I had to learn the hard way. I even just got a call over Thanksgiving weekend that the Billing Dept has been billing my kids wrong since we started going their 8 months ago and they just realized it. They are close, convenient and have great hours, BUT IT IS JUST NOT WORTH THE TROUBLE. FIND A DIFFERENT PLACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After waiting a half an hour AFTER my appointment time (also showed up 10 minutes early per their request), asked if I was ever going to get seen. The nurse came out and put me in a room. AFTER another 40 minutes in the room and STILL have not seen my Dr for my appointment, I left. Making sure they do not submit anything to my insurance. Had a Dr appointment last week as well and waited 40 minutes in the room before the Dr showed up. What a JOKE!

Awful!!! I don't know how much they are paying the people who rated above 2 stars! I always wait longer than an hour...if some one comes in after you and their care is more "urgent" than yours you will get bumped back to the end. I had to sit with my daughter with a high temp and sore throat for 2 hours because they took people before us. Also having another person shove me out of the way to give info (while I was giving mine) staff didn't care. This is the worst place in Minnesota .

My girlfriend got hives and her face started to swell up. Since she has never dealt with this situation before, she started to get really worked and nervous about it. We came here late around 10:30 or so, the young woman at the front desk was extremely friendly. My girlfriend said that everyone there was very friendly and inviting. Just an overall great experience. Nice people at this location, I recommend.

Called last week to schedule an appointment with an ENT. When I showed up today for my appointment, they said I was scheduled with a regular Dr, not an ENT, and the scheduling desk has made this mistake before too. Now I have to rearrange my schedule and take another day off work. Needless to say, I ll be taking my business elsewhere. Terrible customer service!

Bah. Short wait time at 7am, went in, asked the doctor to see what my sickness was. She was confused on what it could be and said it was a virus and I would be fine. Seemed like it was a guess on what I had.

My son and I had an appointment tonight at 6 it s now 7 and we have not even seen the dr yet. It seems like this is a consistent issue here. The nurse was disgruntled and not friendly. The nurses response was like yep... we re running a little late. A dr literally told me he is only allowed to talk to us for 15 minutes before he has to go to the next room. We re cattle to them.
Update:
They had the audacity to bill me almost $200 for an office visit. We didn t even see the doctor!!

Dr Steichen always takes the time to listen to everything you have to say and answers all of your questions. That is a rare quality in doctors today. I have referred many patients to him over the 20+ years I have been seeing him.

Miss diagnosed shingles. When it got worse went back in which they told me to do. Front desk nurses freaked out at my upper right face and said there was nothing they could do and did not want to mess with eye areas. Keep in mind I did not know it was shingles yet. They directed me to a hospital. Because of the original miss diagnose the treatment was very late. I highly recommend you look for another clinic if you need help.

The appointment was to discuss left leg sciatic pain. Doctor Stiechen paid close attention to my symptom descriptions and IMHO completed a thorough physical check. Additionally he provided an anti-inflammatory perscription reccomendation, continued mild stretching, and continued activity. Hopeful the medication and physical activities will provide some relief. Very satisfied with my visit.

Pros: The doctors I have interacted are down to earth experts in their field. It is great to have a conversation with someone who will listen to your concerns and help treat the root of the problem.

Cons: You can expect to have high wait times (sometimes in excess of 1 hour) even if you have a appointment. Maybe this is because the doctors take too long with patients? I understand however that there is an urgent care section which should take precedent. Also there are some nurses and administrative staff that don't seem particularly friendly when you interact with them.

I was seen by the folks in the urgent care after a week long bout of food poisoning. The visit was very thorough with good exchange of information with the staff. Some diagnostic labs were run with no abnormal results so the attending Dr. gave me good options to try to ease my discomfort and provided me with sound recommendations.

After following the recommendations I felt much better the next day and started my recovery.

I was very pleased with the pragmatic approach that the staff took.

Thanks to all that saw me. Great job.

I confirmed my appointment Nov 16 for my little one, I forgot to what time my appointment was for and called to check; I was then put on a hold for an 1hr 30m. At this point I wanted to cancel my appointment, so hung up and waited a bit to call back; I was out on hold another 45 MINUTES! don t come here, not worth it.

Dont go to apple valley medical center. Not only does it take hours to be seen, and the doctors dont even remember who you are when you visit several times, they are negligent. I went in several times for IUD problems, one of which I had mentioned a concern that I had a uti. They tested for yeast and basically wrote me off saying that nothing was wrong. Turns out I did have a uti and now have a full blown kidney infection due to their lack of diagnosis.

**Edit regarding the clinics response: if you look at the next negative comment, the clinic says that they are unable to confirm that persons visit as well. What a cheap way to try to illigitmize my review.

I can't believe what I just experienced trying to make a simple appointment to see a doctor about strengthening my asthma inhaler, I was scrutinized by the initial call taker then passed off to their nurses line who then scrutinized me about my symptoms being "co-vid" related then was told I should bypass allina health clinic And go to a EMERGENCY room elsewhere! I'll NEVER go to your clinic again (like I have done for the last few years)

Was Better Before - too much branching out not enough focus on the individual patient. Wires always getting crossed when the doctors try to coordinate patient care. Front staff are very nice. Patient care is losing out here to trying to cover too many bases with too many patient options. Urgent Care is way behind the local ER and inadequately staffed, IMO.

Went in for workman s comp, nothing serious but had maybe pulled muscles. Went around two in the afternoon so fairly quiet and all in all. Took 6 hrs from check in to leave. Half of the wait was in the room waiting for the doctor. If I had my choice it would not be this place. Ply it s 50/50 on the front desk clerks if they re going to be super nice or give you attitude.

They were a few minutes ahead of schedule, I didn't wait long between seeing the nurse and seeing my doctor. Both were personable, friendly and efficient. I would have liked a little more time to talk about some minor skincare concerns I had on the side, but they got what I came in for taken care of without issue or delay.

Dr. Hett is a kind and caring Doctor. She listens and follows up so quickly! Her nurse, Daniele, is very efficient and capable! My wait time was short after check in, and in the exam room. Daniele Gabe me my flu shot and I didn t even feel it! Now that is talent!!

I waited 1 hour and 15 minutes to be seen in Urgen...

I waited 1 hour and 15 minutes to be seen in Urgent care. The doctor was very friendly and helped resolve my medical issue. I was issued an antibiotic prescription. The doctor offered to send it to my pharmacy, as opposed to writing me a prescription and would send it over for me. We waited well over an hour to pick it up and upon arrival at the pharmacy, was told it wasn t signed. Therefore, they were unable to fill it. They tried calling AVMC but were 8th in the queue and had to hang up. Perhaps your nurses line number should be on your slip to eliminate this issue?? They suggested we call ourselves, as there wasn t anything else they could do or had time to do.

I called the clinic number off Google and waited on hold for 20 minutes, I was also 8th in your queue. I was greeted on the line by a woman and explained my dilemma. She said that it was Walgreens fault and there was nothing she could do. I got upset (as I need this prescription) and She was very consescrnding and rude. I ve worked in customer service for many years and don t aporeciate her lack of empathy and help . I also know that you retain your composure and don t take what s being said to you, personally. She was very defensive and more concerned about explaining the long wait time. I don t care, I just want my prescription before my pharmacy closes for the evening. This type of person is answering your incoming phone line? She finally gave me a phone number (she wouldn t transfer me) that I called and no one answered. I m not even sure what it was. It took another phone call, waiting on hold and more transferring before our issue was finally resolved.

Your patient shouldn t have to do so much work (and waste their time) and have to make so many calls to resolve your mistake. I didn t feel well in the first place and this wasn t how I wanted to spend my evening. That first call should have resulted in 1 transfer, period. I simply wanted help and I feel you dropped the ball. Sadly, I will not be returning in the future. Very dusappinted.

I am a 46 year old male who's medical issues are complicated to say the least I was with Health Partners for over 20 years and after to many errors, misdiagnosis, a long drive to St Paul continually for x rays or specialty services I decided it was time for a change I read about providers in my area then I found the Doctors Bios and information I was impressed by Dr. Mcallister I realized instantly that this was a Doctor who was genuinely concerned and interested in helping people and if it was beyond what he could do referring them to the right place I have to say he is the first Doctor I have ever had that I could say I actually look forward to going in for check ups and trust his medical advice and opinions 100%
5 stars to him and his staff in Savage

My son crashed in a bike race and had multiple cuts and severe road rash. We needed to rule out a broken shoulder and hip issues.

We arrived at the urgent care at 645pm Tuesday night and were back providing our information in 15 minutes. Shortly after Lisa took all his vitals, the Dr came in to provide his evaluation and get X-rays

After we confirmed no broken bones, another RN named Jon, came in and very efficiently cleaned and bandaged the wounds.

Fantastic experience at the Apple Valley Urgent Care tonight.

Very poor service, sucks, & long wait time to get in to see the doctor. And when I get in the room, I still have to wait a long time. Last night, I spent 11/2 to be treated for UTI & my test wasn't ready.

Will be looking for a new clinic. I have copd and take daily meds. The first year there the doctor refused to refill until I came in. It was less than a year and because of that not covered by insurance. I said I would not pay for the unnecessary appointment. None of my meds require Med checks. I got sick and was turned down by the urgent care because of this $200 balance. Now I can t even get an appointment for my annual and will not be able to refill meds. They care more about $200 than the health of their patients.

Horrible treatment . I had been dealing with back pain for 2 weeks before I could no longer take take the pain. The so called doctor prescribed me medication that we establish didn't work the last time I had taken them. I also felt as though I was rushed out of their even though I was the only patient in the building Overall I would not go here again, and would strongly discourage others of going. I will drive myself somewhere else from now.

You can decide for yourself if you wish to go here. I will not be deciding that for you today. You are an adult reading this and can decide where you would like to receive your medical care.

I am really not a negative person, but after some recent events - I am highly disappointed in AVMC I just want my concerns and our stories to be heard by someone who cares, please

My own experience that made me decide to not return here - My tumor - My doctor read my results wrong and told me it was the size of a "large cherry". When they had the decimal point wrong on the measurement and I was panicking thinking I needed surgery over a week later, they finally said, we read it wrong, sorry, its actually a lot smaller it doesn't need to be operated on but we will continue to monitor it... That was my last straw after lots of visits where I was pretty much talked to for a second and then felt pushed out the door. I personally feel AVMC use to care - but now the folks here do not care about their clients on a personal level, very in and out Too many wrong results for me the tumor was just the biggest.

Now - what triggered me wanting to write to AVMC - was my mother's most recent string of horrible experiences with this facility... she has had her blood drawn not 1, not 2, not 3, but four times for a B12 measure... it is light sensitive and needs to be placed in an envelope immediately after being drawn from what I understand... I have been with her now for each visit and she has reminded the nurses in the lab, Hey, please put it in the envelope, I do not want to come back again and will laugh all cute like, just wanting to be treated like a person... Well - 4 times, and today she called for results and found out that she will be needing to do it again - my mom called me in tears she is so frustrated and more so just sad, she feels neglected, she LOVES some of the doctors here this very last time we came in to redo it when she told the nurse about her previous bad experiences and said, "please put it in the envelope I really don't want to come back" and playfully laughed again the male nurse told her to let him do his job because he knows how to do it and - I am sorry, to be so blunt, but acted like my mother was this incredibly rude person but she s just tired of coming back so much for the same exact test... I just looked away because I was angry at that comment whereas my mom apologized and said she really just didn't want to have to get poked again, she is this adorable and quirky little lady so to see her have to defend herself when she is just wanting to make sure she can be treated properly is just very infuriating to me. I want to take my mom somewhere else, I feel like this test should have been done properly after at least the first little mishap, not fourth. I refuse to let someone I care about be treated so poorly. She has brought us all there since we were so little... after almost 20 years of going there seeing always the same set of doctors, whom she adores... I am so disappointed. I cannot believe how the lab has messed up and then treated her for expressing her concerns I am sorry to be so negative... again, I really don t like complaining but I want this corrected... My mom wants to keep going here even after this! She wants to keep the same doctors because she does not like change but I will not have her repeatedly treated like she is a hassle, only to have another mistake

I truly hate being so negative, but I was just in shock when she called me today. I feel so bad for my mom... and something needed to be said so hopefully someone there can read this and change up how the lab is being run.

I truly hope this can be corrected She feels unimportant, which is horrible since she is one of the few people I know who has remained loyal to this place after so many mishaps

Please - take care of the people who are trusting you with helping them.

Again, decide for yourself - but these are our experiences... Truly hoping if she goes back things will be different.

Hi

Hi
Doctor Holly Hett has been my doctor since i moved to Apple Valley about 10 years ago,
I have had very professional and compassionate care from her and AVMC.
I love her personal and trustful approach to my care. My wife Mary is cared for by Doctor Hett and feels same too.
AVMC is the perfect fit in our busy lives and makes it easy to get appointments when we need them, we are very happy with AVMC and our doctor.
Thank You AVMC staff, we appreciate you.

AVMC had a few small debts against me from back in 2006 found them RECENTLY submitted to my credit report stating they were NEW debts from 2014! Call the clinic and they had every excuse in the book why it was there and promised to clear it. Contacting a lawyer as this is 100% illegal!!!

I have been going to this medical center for nearly 20 years 90% of those years is with 1 Dr. Dr. Steichen has always treated me with respect, he has always listened to my concerns and has never let me down regarding my medical needs or anything else for that matter. In my opinion there is not a better run facility in the south metro!

We love all the Doctors and Nurses there but its sooooo hard to get a hold of anyone. Making an appointment is a nightmare trying to get on the phone. You are put on hold for 10- 15 minutes. Than trying to get a message to one of the
Drs takes longer. They need more help in the phone department.

Nice facility, friendly doctors. My only complaint is that these doctors don t really care about their patients. Someone close to me visited this exact location for severe headaches only to be prescribed Aleve before suffering from a severe stroke. I went in myself for fear of heart problems only to be given the same result. If you fear you may have a serious medical problem, I highly suggest taking your issue elsewhere. The medical professionals at AVMC either don t care, or are too busy to take the time to understand. Go there for your flu, but not your chest pains. Really a fluke of a practice.

DO NOT EVER GO HERE! If i could give a negative star i would! They have screwed me over several times with procedures and billing. Billing my insurance for a work comp injury and billing my company as well. Sending my bills to my brothers address when i have never lived or registered at! Poor customer service and the ER looks and operates like a third world country! Trashy staff and a revolving door of doctors. I wouldn't go back if my life depended on it!!

Everyone is very professional and friendly. Dr. Hett is an amazing physician. She is smart with great communication skills. I also had blood drawn and the lab girls were very nice. I highly recommend Apple Valley Medical to anyone looking for a family doctor.

As a clinical psychologist, patient relationships ...

As a clinical psychologist, patient relationships are something I consider incredibly important. Perhaps not as much as medical knowledge from a physician, but it's up there. I've had some bad doctors there. Likewise I've had some good doctors there. When selecting a primary care physician I did have to doctor shop. Dr. Yasmin Orandi was by far the worst physician I met. She was generally dismissive to me and outright racist to my wife who is not a native born American. Dr. Amy Diede, while friendly enough, seemed to not really care about her patients. She rarely explained things to my family and we felt like we were just widgets on a conveyor belt with her. We finally settled on Dr. Todd Stolpman who is absolutely AMAZING. He actually listens to us in out appointments. He explains things to us as needed and confirms we understand him using techniques not unlike I use in my field. He is friendly and caring and I've never felt "rushed" by him or his nurse. To anyone reading this, you should know it is perfectly OK to doctor shop until you find one that you connect with and never feel like you need to settle for whoever you end up with.

Absolutely terrible. Was referred here by my GP for a knee issue. Was told to show up 15 minutes before my appointment ONLY to be left sitting in the waiting area for over an hour. Asked receptionist when I was going to be called as everybody around me had been pulled back. She asked who I was. Seriously! YOU JUST CHECKED ME IN AN HOUR AGO! So, here I am, STILL waiting to get back for my appt. That was scheduled an hour and a half ago. Never again will I come here. Make your patients a priority.

Absolutely terrible service. I arrived at 8:45am on Sunday morning and there were only two others in the waiting room. It was nearly an hour and a half before I was called into the Dr's office where there I spent another 20mins waiting for the Dr who said I should get some blood work done. After 30 more mins waiting, I decided to just get up and leave. This was the same experience I have had 3 other times and it is for sure my last!

This clinic has changed in numerous ways over the 15 years we've been patients there but continue to be our choice for a primary clinic for not just the little things but the big things. We especially appreciate being able to get everything imaginable done in one facility. We do feel we get excellent medical care here which is most important.

Just look at the reviews for this place. It's a joke. They didn't listen to a word I told them so I made an appt at health partners in Apple Valley a week later and they actually listened and was good to go.

Only writing this review because I have the time to since I've been in the waiting room for 20 minutes past the time my appointment was scheduled for. Dr Palace and Dr Orandi are spectacular but without fail every appointment I schedule runs extremely late, which would be okay if you have the day off or don't have something to get to but for most people that isn't the case. Regardless if it's just a quick prescription refill or a small check up, you're bound to be here for at least an hour, if not longer. I love the doctors but am considering changing locations simply because of the disorganization here.

Don't waste your time or money at this place. The quality of this facility's urgent care clinic has declined shockingly and significantly over the past two years. I don't know if this coincides with the urgent care clinic hours being changed from 24x7 to limited daily hours, but my experiences there with the last three visits over the past year and a half have been absolutely dismal.

One on visit, I was advised to go to the emergency room because they didn't feel they could adequately treat me (which makes sense) and I was told that I would not get charged for the visit since I was not treated. But, of course, I was charged. On another visit, the doctor who wandered in looked like he was, at best, only on a nodding acquaintance with a shower and toothbrush. This last visit, though, was the final straw. I went there seeking help for some very intense lower back pain and was immediately and rudely informed by the nurse -- as if I were a raging pain pill addict -- that they don't prescribe pain medication but they would see me anyway (why?). The doctor I saw, who had, by the way, Scotch tape holding in one lens of his glasses and perhaps graduated from med school right after the Civil War ended, also rudely told me that they don't prescribe pain medication and they couldn't help me. He didn't want to listen at all to me describing my symptoms and I actually had to interrupt him twice by saying, "If you would just let me finish and listen to what I am telling you then that might help." He also left in the middle of his "consultation" with me to take a phone call from a radiologist. I have never had that happen at ANY medical facility where I have been treated. The whole experience was shockingly unprofessional and disappointing. That is the last time I ever expect to go back to this place.

This used to be a good healthcare provider that was convenient if you lived in Apple Valley, but it is not that anymore. I think the family practice is still a reasonably decent alternative, but save your time and money and avoid the urgent care clinic at Apple Valley Medical. There are better urgent care alternatives available and for more serious problems you will be better off visiting the Emergency Department at Fairview Ridges or, for the best care, Mayo Clinic in Cannon Falls (which is where I ended up going after my last disastrous visit to Apple Valley Medical Urgent Care).

I called to make an appointment and had questions regarding if the appointment would be "virtual" or in person. The lady on the phone was very rude, short, and not compassionate one bit about the situation. This is not the first time I have had these negative interactions with the staff on the phone.

This place is absolutely TERRIBLE! I checked in this morning at 8:30am, and I'm still sitting in the waiting room, and it is now 10:10am. My name has yet to be called, but I've watched about 4 people, who checked in after me, be called in. Its busy, but not THAT busy!! And apparently, they do not go in order of arrival!! This place sucks!

I just went there to been seen. Blood in my urine. And a constant pain. Said I owed a bill from 5 years ago and they couldn't help me. I said I thought it was necessary to be seen. And I've always have had insurance. This bill they spoke of I've never heard of it and might be related to a car accident many years ago. But those bills where paid by my attorney. The service there is horrible. They looked at me like I was gum on the bottom of their shoes. I need a doctor and they told me to go away. Horrible customer service. Would not recommend them to anyone, ever...

Experience is lousy from start to finish. They have no empathy for their patients and seem to only care about making their money. I have went here since I was a kid and somewhere along the way they have lost their touch. All the negative reviews should say everything you need to know.
