This place is amazing and such an important part of Harlems history. Just love walking up the stairs and watching the photos on the wall, makes me smile. If your visiting NYC please go, if your a resident checkout their events, there's something for everyone.

The venue's beautiful for all that has been through. More attention must be given however to the 4th floor. The seats are ridiculously close , make my knee cramp. Luckily the seats in front of my sisters were emptied so they were able to hang their feet over the back rest of those seats. AND and and the bathroom is absolutely disgusting! So if you have to attend an event there I would definitely suggest splurging for seat on one of the lower levels. I have attended several events there where I had orchestra seat and I would have never pictures the experience being so different.

My father first took me to the Apollo when I was a child. I always enjoy and respect this legendary venue whenever I visit. So much rich history that is integral to the vibrancy of the village of Harlem, USA. A must see for any tourist.

Just back from the Amateur Night - a birthday celebration I sure will remember for ever & beyond. The energy of the place is feel it to believe it uplifting. The audience is there not just to watch, oh no: they are there to sing and dance - never seen so many sizzling dancers in one single place; they were there to laugh, and support, and yes, sometimes to boo, too. But only when they needed to save da planet from an alien invasion.
Capone, the host, is fuuu-ny, and at one point aks ya'll to hold a hand of the person sitting next to you, as a gesture of universal love and trust, as well as the sign of the much better times to come (Vote in November!). And the acts were also good, especially the guy with a guitar who won the kids opening act competition can t remember his name now, except that it sounded Italian, but I m sure he ll make it real big. So go, see, listen, sing, dance, laugh, boo, support... Whatever. But make sure you do go.

Icon of Harlem, it is worth visiting. Even if there is no show or you can not pay a ticket, going to the area is profitable. I recommend going in the morning, very early (8 am) since the businesses of Martin Luther King Jr Avenue are closed and so you can appreciate the murals in their metal blinds made by Franco The Great, iconic illustrator of Harlem. You may even see him there, at his post, drawing and selling small drawings.

Always a place I wanted to visit in NYC. Mr. Apollo is the real deal and gave a great tour with a great history lesson both for him personal and for the theater. Highly suggest as a local or visitor.

Absolutely wonderful entertainment.

Absolutely wonderful entertainment.
The building is gorgeous from the inside.
We got late seats and sat in the very last row, on the right. No need to worry! The sound and line of vision was perfect!
The show was hysterical. I don't live in America, but the humour is light and witty and appeals to all.
I also love that you buy your drinks inside - credit cards accepted!
The ushers are also feisty characters and start getting you in the festive mood from the get-go.
If I lived nearby, I would try and go at least once a month!
