Place to visit on the 125th in Harlem. Some people take a picture of themselves in front of the entrance, rather friendly place and apparently known and famous theater. Go for a walk if you have the opportunity to night the storefront is top
Amateur night is a must see. great talents and a really fun experience to be part of. plus it's cheap!
Mr. Apollo does a amazing job with the history at the tour!!!
Traditional place in a traditional neighborhood. Amazing amateur night. To know. And get to know Harlem before and after. A New York neighborhood that maintains its essence.
The place looks much bigger on TV. Really nice place but seats are very snug for the big booties. But had a great time. The mc had the crowd going. Lots of fun.
It's a must visit on anyone's NYC bucket list. A historic theater in the heart of Harlem. Doesn't matter where you sit, you have a great view of the stage. Showtime at the Apollo with Steve Harvey hosting is magic! (Be aware any free events will have a very long line but it's definitely worth it once you're inside.)
The Apollo Theater is a landmark located on 125th Street. The theater occupies an important place in the heart of Harlem, both literally and figuratively; built in 1914, it has served as a showcase for countless show biz greats, from Ella Fitzgerald to James Brown to Stevie Wonder, some of whom got their big break by appearing in its storied Amateur Night competitions (which is still held on Wednesdays); while taking in a show is the classic way to experience it, you can also check out the lobby or arrange for a group tour and make sure walk the area and visit others businesses (restaurants, etc) while in the area.
It's always great entertainment at the Apollo Harlem #1
On the famous stage of the Apollo theater was pure magic. The people were nice and the performances were breathtaking and amazing.Anyone,in New York should check this place out to have a great time. The chairs are comfy and the building looks nice!!
This place has been in existence for decades and I have never seen a bathroom so small that I literally had to crack the door in order to sit on the toilet
Went to audition with my brother(on the left) and we didn't even get a chance to step foot in the door because they had already picked who they wanted and they turned away hundreds maybe thousands of people in front and behind me. Auditions started at "10:30am" and we were there an hour early. But they let people in that camped out the night before. Very unprofessional. But there loss because there missing out on a lot of great talent, including myself.
Just saw Conan here last night and it was great! Nice, smallish, good sound, seemed clean and well maintained. I d go back!
I grew up in Harlem I'm part of the Renaissance....the Apollo is very important to me and it is a landmark..
It is an iconic symbol of Harlem and I always enjoy being there.
Staff very nice! Minus 1 star because there were no tours being offered eventhough website stated there were tours being offered.
Emblematic place of soul music, gospel and jazz. Motown sound.
A must seen tour if you are in NY and love music. Billy Mitchell (Mr Apollo) is the best tour guide in the city without any kind of doubts. Enjoy it!
Legendary World damous Apollo theater. I worked here for 7 years. Met so many people and came back for shows. Love the apollo still family
I was able to see the show, despite being up high in the mezzanine.
It is an emblematic theater. It is worth going through the doors and seeing the plaques of the great artists who passed by.
Being in Harlem is worth seeing. Unfortunately, only from the outside
Beautiful historic venue, check it out if you're in Harlem.
Saw the Double Dutch competition. The Apollo is a very nice, historical theater.
It was a school trip and i was the driver. They allowed me to use the restroom while i waited for the class to finish their tour. I've never been inside b4 but the pkace is clean and nice.
No shows the night I came over this time... But still iconic !
We had a great time there it was truly a blessing dreams do come true thank you God.
It's the Apollo Theater. Very famous for entertainment.
Love it went to town hall meeting with Karen hunter, Al Sharpton, Joe Madison
an American show, and a historic institution! on the other hand, for the seats, you really don't have to be tall!
Just a quick visit yo buy a t-shirt but I'll definitely go back for the full tour or amateur night.
All the Late Greats Performed here it was like visiting a Piece of history!
The legendary Apollo is just that. I didn't see any performances but just being in the same building as all of the icons of music was an experience in itself. They have done a fabulous job of keeping the venue in shape. They offer tours but I just wanted to get some pictures and just check it out. The list of names of the stars that have been on this stage is a who's who of show biz. Next time I visit I'm gonna catch a performance on amateur night
