Horrible customer service! I went in tonight hoping to get some information about custom blends and bulk essential oils but the person at the desk was so condescending and rude towards me- when I started to ask my questions she responded "well I don't know what you want but you've come in 10 minutes before we close" in a very snarky tone. I had actually been there for 20 minutes waiting for my turn to talk to her because she was helping other people. Definitely not the kind of business I want to do business with.
Awesome!! Very knowledgeable staff, good products, great atmosphere, and educational! Worth the visit just for the opening of the eyes. :)
the best, and in many respects, the only place in town to get ethically sourced, environmentally conscious and fairly traded supplies for DIY projects spanning everything candles to comfort to caring to curing. the life project of an incredibly astute, compassionate and generous knowledge keeper, anarres has altered how i think about more aspects of my life than i could ever detail here, and all from a place of sharing and mutually beneficial growth. thank you for helping change my perspective!

I love the Store !!! Great products!!! Many years I ordered essential oils ,100% natural and prices much lower than other places. I also buy lotion for my face, which is great and saving my life! After that one I can not use anything. It is moisturizing and healing your skin from the first use. It calls Raindance Daily lotion ,and it smells roses. I love it!!! Thank You, Tracy!!!

Anarres Apothecary is an amazing wealth of information and products. They carry natural concetraception, water purifiers, zero waste eco friendly products, natural body care supplies (in bulk!) and so many different hand made lotions and potions. Everything i have ever purchased here I absolutely LOVE.
I've shopped at Anarres for over 5+ years but my last visit was less than satisfactory. We waited outside until we got the 'green' light, fine. But as we walked in we were not only rushed but were told we only had 10 min to do all of our shopping. On top of this there was hardly anyone who approached to help us. Maybe if someone helped us we could have been out of there in time. As we're told to basically 'hurry up' whoever was at the cashier was busy having small talk with another customer. My spouse was told her face shield was not adequate and she had to wear a mask instead. I felt so rush I didn't end up purchasing everything I needed. The entire experience was less than pleasant. My spouse won't be returning to this store and frankly neither will I anymore. Customer service really needs to improve here. Otherwise they carry good products.
Best place in the city for zero waste items - especially love the selection of menstrual cups and sexual health products, highly recommend!

I practice Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture and I love and recommend this store to everyone who wants to get natural supplies to make things like clean personal care products. The owner and the employees have real knowledge of natural products and can help you pick the right items. This store is a DIY heaven. You can be sure of the quality and many products are ethical, fair-trade or organic. Altogether a lovely experience shopping at Anarres. Environmentally sustainable choices, you can bring your own containers for bulk items.
This store is truly a gem worth visiting and supporting. Tracey, the owner, is extremely passionate and well-experienced on the numerous services and products her store offers, and has been sharing her knowledge as a Certified Natural Health Practitioner for many years. The store itself has lots of character and charm with many products on display to choose from and shopping sections in support of various causes. It's a place that speaks to "community".
Like all places during this difficult time, protective measures are in place for all shoppers who visit to feel safe and comfortable along with the staff. When you visit please be courteous to the staff and to other people visiting. I encourage you to book consultation time in advance or email ahead to ask questions if you aren't sure of what you're looking for.
This is the place I go for masks, high-quality natural products, and the little containers I store salve in. It's a great shop and Tracey is always up-to-date on her information and helpful. I miss stopping by before the lockdown.
Best selection of essential oils in Toronto, the staff are very kind and informative, the shop carries many organic essential oils as well, they also have rare oils you can not find anywhere else in the city. They have great price points and can make different sizes of bottles for your needs.
Hi Tracy. Writing this review as a response to your last reply to Shiva Shankara's review. I am his wife who never received a copy of my receipt, please check your sent items to see whether you typed my email address correctly.
There is no way you had to repeat this request to keep the mask on mouth and nose three times , you made that up. You told me once and I put it on right away. YOU MUST WEAR A MASK PROPERLY AT ALL TIMES - NO EXCEPTIONS- I failed to see that sign on your door and I am sorry about that. I had my face-shield on when I entered your store, after hearing your request, I did put on my mask, there was no need to be so paranoid and still remain 6 feet apart. The rules from the World Health Organization is- a person either needs to wear a mask OR distance 6-feet not wear a mask AND 6-feet. No hard feelings, if you want customers to follow the rules then you should get to know the rules yourself first.
If you don't want customers sitting down in your store I suggest removing the chair that is right in front of the cash area, please. I sat because I lost my interest to shop after your unwelcoming behavior and attitude even though my partner was still looking for a few essential items that he intended to buy from your store. We were not there for 44 minutes. More like 25-30. Again, we were not aware that we had to finish our shopping including checking out (which was rushed as well) within 10 minutes until you mentioned it to us right before we were about to leave.
You can either stay open and serve your customers properly and take this feedback and use it to improve your customer service or you can blame your customers who are paying you to stay open. The restrictions weren't stressful, you were projecting your own stress onto others that's how it felt like. I see why you keep receiving so many negative reviews on terrible customer service, with or without the pandemic. Let's be honest.

I have visited 3 times now have purchased numerous oils, bottles, PPE, gemstones, and other natural products. Jess has been so patient and helpful with me every time I have gone in. She gives me great tips advice and answers all my questions honestly and to the best of her knowledge. I have met the owner Tracey on on visit and she was also very helpful and also answered my questions. My shopping experiences here during Covid made me feel very safe and comfortable and I will continue to support them. I love the variety of all the products available for people who enjoy using natural and homeopathic products. So happy there is a unique place like this in Toronto. They also have online and pick up orders available which is so convenient. Jess is the best and makes me want to buy everything because she is so friendly and helpful!

REMEMBER: Try to bring your own bags and containers if buying anything from the bulk section. :) This is my favourite place in Toronto to source all of the raw materials I need to make my soaps, candles, and beauty products. I used to order online, but was pleasantly surprised one day to find this place so close to where I live! I have yet to find myself in a situation where they don t have a particular item I need, tons of variety, and a focus on ethical sourcing. Everything I ve purchased has been high quality, but priced very reasonably. The ladies that work there are also really friendly, and knowledgeable. I buy my essential oils, raw butters, clays, soy candle wax and soap ingredients here. If you are a DIY er you will love this place too!
I bought natural toothpaste from them online. I went to pick it up in person as is their policy and the order was not ready. The storeperson then proceeded to dig into an old dusty discoloured looking glass jar that had premade toothpaste in it and slopped it into a glass container for me. It looked like it had been there for months. It looked very thin and watery. Once I took it home to try, the toothpaste tasted like mostly salt. I paid triple the price of regular toothpaste for this foul tasting toothpaste! Never again. This place also needs to update their web site as it is very outdated and not user friendly.
I have been going to Anarres for nearly ten years. Tracey is a wonderful person who is extremely knowledgeable and also hilarious. I have always admired Tracey and Anarres's commitment to sustainability and ethics, and as well the amazing quality of everything sold there. Anarres has been a big part of my natural health journey and I recommend Tracey to everyone I know.
Online orders have been quickly fulfilled and pickup has been a breeze.
Although this isn't a plastic free store, the ethos in the store is pretty positive and I recommend their reusable menstrual pads. They also have steel straws and wood tooth brushes, best I've tried. I don't like that they have products from China and not fair trade but worth checking out nonetheless.
This shop has been a favorite for many years. I make an effort to choose more eco-friendly options for my home and body every year, and Anarres has supported me on that journey. I LOVE their selection of essential oils, soaps, owner Tracey's house line of skin products (Raindance brand), and it is a DIYers dream. Customer service goes above and beyond, even during Covid. Anarres is the best apothecary in the city! Tracey is a fountain of knowledge. I get all of my organic essential oils, butters, glass bottles, and high quality carrier oils here. I have also taken courses with Tracey and will continue to upgrade with her because she is the real deal. A master if you ask me. Her shop supports fair trade, sustainability, it's community lead and products are the best. I tell everyone to go here!
They make the most effective natural deodorant. If I'm not in Toronto I get it shipped. These folks are dedicated to what they do. Awesome customer service
A cozy spot for all your aromatherapy needs! The staff who helped me out was very knowledgeable and super friendly. I especially appreciate the self-serve section at the back where you can bring your own containers/bottles for items such as cocoa and shea butters and the like! If you're lucky, they'll have some containers on hand for you to use as well. There is a rich selection of supplies, and prices are so reasonable that I left thinking "it's better than Amazon!" but even better since everything is ethically sourced!!!! Will be going back for sure.

I love this place! I have had nothing but good experiences. My current favourite products are the natural deodorant and Raindance lotion. As a "zero waster" I appreciate the environmentally conscious packaging too.

Horrible customer service! The owner has such a tone and so dismissive to customers. My 50 year old mother with stage 4 lung cancer travels almost 45 minutes to visit this shop by TTC, and received the most intolerable service from this woman. Don't waste your time, as she will refuse to answer your questions and belittle you.
