Tried so hard to love it really did, its my third ...

Tried so hard to love it really did, its my third time back and its got poorer on each stay. I stayed in Se4ptember, was no activities to do , the stargazing tower was out of use but we were informed its fine. We were told on booking we are having a la carte in the Italian, but when we arrived they said its buffet only, next day we found out they were wrong so we missed out on that. Instead when we were leaving someone kindly (one of the longer members of staff) was kind enough to waive our bill for the lunch we purchased before we left. We were told the wrong time for breakfast so almost ended up missing but when we explained they let us have it. We were given a 10 omr voucher for the stay but it was not redeemed on checkout and they told us they don't do voucher credits. When we politely asked them to ring reservations they managed to confirm it. There was works going on very loud and noisy by the pool as their drilling in the foundations of a new deck. For some reason they decided to put us in a room close to this even though the hotel had very low occupancy, this was considered a upgrade in the normal canon deluxe rooms...

Overall find the resort extremely disorganized with newly hired, un trained scarf. It can make all of the difference to an experience. We had to explain ourselves on many occasions which was stressful. Some retraining is definitely required if they want to make it a peaceful stay. Not totally quiet as a resort either and as its close to street and street lights you can hear the cars, not great sky visibility. Alila is more expensive but I just felt is was more justified and definitely more of an amazing experience, so if you have the money to spend i would definitely head there no doubt about it.

The most beautiful resort in the Green Mountain, w...

The most beautiful resort in the Green Mountain, without exception, in terms of (For your information, this is my third stay in the resort
1- The variety of rooms, as it meets all desires, whether for individuals or families.
2- The resort's exceptional location, as it is located on the edge of the cliff, giving the visitor stunning views.
3- The warm welcome and farewell of the Omani employees, which reflects the Omani generosity.
4- The speed of receiving the rooms as required
5- Excellent room cleanliness in terms of the cleanliness of the bed to the facilities and the floor of the rooms. As soon as I leave the room for several hours and come back I find that the room has been cleaned and arranged perfectly and many times with the sweets provided (thanks for the room service )
5- The hotel's ambiance and escort that are in harmony with nature, where calm and relaxation.
6- Breakfast in the restaurant is varied and delicious, as the restaurant offers fresh juices and a wide choice of foods. However, it needs to add various crepes where only pancakes and waffles are provided.
7- Dinner buffet varies regularly.
8- Valet parking is excellent and fast
9- Omani hospitality at reception is wonderful
10-The hotel offers a spa service, but for the safety it is safe to browse through the spa services directory
I did not receive my approval as the prices are very, very, very exaggerated ... knowing that I have an idea about the prices of the SPA, as it did not reach this price in the Maldives
Or the island of Mauritius .. I wish the resort management to reconsider the prices of the spa services so that we can use all the recreation services optimally.
Finally, I advise visitors to Jabal Al Akhdar to stay at the resort due to all the observations that I have listed above.
Finally, I do not forget to thank the Omani brothers at the really wonderful reception and valet parking ... Thank you Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar

Great value for money right now. Amazing resort. Recommend the three village walk. Only improvement would be to offer more variety cusine. Right now only Italian is open and if you don't eat European, pasta/ pizza mainly then there isn't much choice. Khalid at the coffee shop requires a special mention for his humour, service skills and general cheerful personality. He went the extra mile and beyond. The food and coffee/tea is excellent at the coffee shop too!

I've stayed in my share of resorts and business ho...

I've stayed in my share of resorts and business hotels worldwide, but this is definitely the best resort I've ever been to.

Pros:
- Amazing views, just breathtaking
- Rooms are modern and comfortable, yet with intricate local architecture and decor (I stayed in a deluxe room)
- Service is excellent, whether the turn down service every evening (with yummy chocolates!) or by the pool or in the restaurants
- outdoor infinity pool is heated
- spa, steam room, and sauna are top class and very clean
- wifi is super fast throughout the resort
- breakfast is SUPERB. Go early to get fresh coconut water!
- dinner buffet is also excellent quality, one of the best buffets in terms of quality I've ever had
- Almost unlimited bottled water in rooms and by the pool
- GHA Platinum members get treated well. Free room upgrade, 2pm late checkout, and a welcome gift basket of soft drinks and snacks
- Nespresso and quality teas in-room
- Elemis toiletries
- There's a lifeguard at the pool, so if you have kids they could use it on their own (and the deepest is only like 1.2m)

Cons:
- Activities cost alot of money. Factor this in before staying. That said, the 3 village tour was excellent, and you can get the best discount by using the offer on their website.
- Food and drink is expensive, probably UK 4/5 star hotel prices. There's nothing to go to nearby, so you're more or less stuck here. That said, room service is decent value (OMR5-10 for mains) as you get quality food and good portions
- Dinner buffet is a pricey OMR18. Arabic a-la-carte restaurant even more (OMR15-25 for main courses)
- Spa treatments are not cheap, prices are similar to 4/5 star hotels in London. But the massages are very good
- Pool can get a bit crowded in the afternoons, even when the resort is not packed, as it is a small pool
- Unless you have a 4WD, you can't drive up the mountain road to the resort (you have to use their expensive taxi service around OMR55, or get a local taxi service at the bottom of the mountain, around OMR35)

Tips:
- take the free 1-hour bikes out to the local village/city to see a bit of local life
- free sunrise yoga on Tuesdays and Thursdays (they provide mats)
- the Italian restaurant serves great food and decent prices for lunch, or for an early dinner (before 6:30pm)
- tennis courts are free to book, and they also provide racquets and balls

Overall I'm dreaming about coming back to Anantara again in the future! Just need to save up enough money for the next trip :)

We only had dinner there, in the main restaurant there is 40 p.p. a very delicious dinner in a nice atmosphere. Great hotel area.
An overnight stay can be worthwhile for one night despite the high price.

Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdhar is one of the best 5 star hotel in Oman.
It has a wonderful and specious rooms with a fantastic view.
The staff is very hospitable and helpful.
Also the food at the restaurant is 5 star.
What I don't like is the pool depth. I don't think 1.2m is suitable for adults!

The chain don't need any introduction as they are well known globally. They have build this hotel at one of the best locations in the Jabal Akhdar with great view on the canyon. Staff are very friendly & special thanks for Heena for her great welcoming & hospitality.

Spent there one night with my family. We all liked the place. This is a real five star hotel/resort. Rooms are great in every aspect, facilities covers all family members, layout of the hotel sections and the garden is done very well, and above all, all staff are very helpful, friendly, and professional.
We felt this from the first minutes from our arrival. We arrived hours earlier than the check in time and were asked to wait in a special waiting area where they gave my young kids coring booklets and color pens as gifts and braught sweets and dates juice for everyone of us. After few minutes one Omani staff came with check in documents to finalize the checking in procedure.

We had the best time staying three nights at the Anantara. It s not often that the pictures in the website doesn t do it all justice. The views are spectacular. We enjoyed the sunset every night with blankets on our balcony before heading to dinner. The staff are beyond nice. Kind and engaging. Our rowdy toddler was welcomed with open arms too. :-) especially Ali and Fatima at the restaurant were his favorites. They really helped us getting through meals without disturbing the other guests too much. For that we are grateful!
They even delivered my iPad to Nizwa, when I forgot it in the room.
A great example of how they go above and beyond to make you feel welcomed.

My family and I embarked on a journey to Oman to discover a hidden GEM: Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar. Our experience was literally magical... From the ride to the mountain visiting the Omani Villages to the unique Villa and breath taking views, cinema under the stars to Dine by Design, the mystique of the SPA to archery and most importantly the genuine and authentic colleagues who will pamper you at every turn...every part of the experience was memorable and we will COME AGAIN and AGAIN! An experience above the clouds indeed. Thank you for Dagmar and her amazing team who went above and beyond to create stories to tell, at every corner! A must experience for everyone planning to escape the daily routine and embark on a journey to disconnect and connect with what really matters in life.

The most unique setting for a hotel!! The experience of Dining by Design and the spa treatments, were magical!! The food, the food choices and the freshness of all of the ingredients were second to none!! But above all of this, every member of staff were exceptional!! From pool engineer to managers, each and every team member was helpful, polite, welcoming and efficient!! They were all attentive, but not obtrusive, with absolutely nothing too much trouble..

We spent 1 week at the end of October at Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar Resort. We had a premium room on the ground with a great view of the mountains. The view from the identical DeLuxe rooms on the 1st floor is a bit nicer. Thank you for the great service and friendliness!
Thanks also to Sam Greco and his team for the culinary delights! And our favorite spot was because of the view the Italian restaurant in front of the Dianas Point - Thanks also to Shwe and her friendly team!
We visited three villages to learn about Oman and its history, we had a very nice driver, who brought us a lot of amazing and impressive information about Oman. I am deeply impressed. We felt very comfortable and would come back immediately!

This is not a comment because of the viewpoint, but because of anantara hotel that made it private. What a shame for the Omani heritage to make it private and refuse the access depending on who comes or not for one if the most beautiful view in Jabal akhdar! We did all the road partly for this...shame on Anantara!!!!!

This hotel - if you could call it so, rather recalling a haven of hanging gardens in the middle of desert mountains - is by far the best I've ever experienced. Everything, from the moment you cross the fence in until out, will blow your mind. Needless to say that service is wonderful, rooms are out of this world and eating will amaze you. If you spend only one night, skip any visit you might have planned on the afternoon before to check in early, enjoy the pool, the spa and of course, the outstanding panorama. This is a well-deserved 5/5.

Unfortunately we could not start our trip in June 2020 due to the corona pandemic. The cancellation by email alone was very difficult and we are still waiting for our refund. We are unfortunately very disappointed and would have liked more from a renowned hotel complex.

First let me say that if you're staying in one of ...

First let me say that if you're staying in one of the Anantara's villas, they are amazing. Both the garden and cliff villas are like your own little private world and come with your own villa host (ours was extremely good and nice). There are very few hotels that can offer the room / villa ambience of this place. More broadly, the location is breathtaking with mountain views that stretch miles.

The rest of Anantara Al Jabal, I'm sorry to say, disappointed.

Service / Upkeep: While the staff was all friendly, the maintenance and delivery of various items throughout the resort was not what you'd expect from a 5-star resort. For example, the pool ran out of towels, the tennis court did not have balls upon arrival / net wasn't set up properly, our omelettes at breakfast were never delivered, turndown service came late. Yes, these are small issues but not what we expected from an Anantara that's supposed to be one of the nicest hotels in Oman. Of course there were many apologies and the GM (nice guy) was gracious upon learning about the difficulties and even upgraded us, but there were just too many small service problems for them not to diminish our stay.

Food: The food was simply average. I expected more from both the breakfast and dinner buffets from a true 5-star world class hotel, neither had huge selections and the food was generally on the dry side (typical for a buffet). During our stay there was only 1 actual restaurant available (the Arabian 'fine dining' was closed to revamp the menu) which left us with the Italian bistro overlooking the cliffs. Again OK service and food, but lacking in atmosphere especially in the evening when we were hoping for a more upscale experience.

In general almost anything can be overlooked when you're staying in such a beautiful villa, but for Anantara to truly compete with other 5 star hotels they'll need to seriously improve both their service and food.
