Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar Review

We have just come back from a 6 night stay in this hotel and it has deserved a full 5 stars for the experience. It is a wonderful hotel situated in the canyons of Oman and the views it provides are spectacular. I have stayed at my fair share of nice hotels but this is up there amongst the best. The people of the hotel is what makes it so special, they treat you like Royalty and become friends with you throughout your stay. Very well done Anantara!

Pros:
- Excellent, professional and very friendly service
- Incredible canyon views (not all rooms offer this)
- The food is very high quality, even in the buffet restaurant
- Offers a variety of physical activities to keep you entertained
- Good gym facilities
- Big, high quality and clean rooms with excellent turndown service
- Happy hour from 6-7pm
- Excellent spa facilities

Cons:

- My wife was injured by a poolside umbrella when it fell on her through high winds. We expected staff could have been more cognisant of this to avoid the risk of injury.
- Suffered from an abnormal bout of hay fever (so did others), possibly due to the location and flower surroundings.

Excellent weekend gateway for relaxation.
Nice place for the entire family, as you have all facilities for all family members.
Activities : biking, hiking, climbing, walking around the hotel or the villages. Excellent fitness club for kids and elders.

Spend a weekend there with half-board and it was a superb !!

Can t wait to go there again.

Service and treatment are very excellent staff, you are informed of the location and hotel services in detail, and take you on a tour around the hotel and the same way in the restaurant.
Rooms: There are multiple options from single room to villas with private pool
Parking is in a safe place and under the umbrella.
There is a swimming pool, gym, children's play area and a men's and women's mosque.
The breakfast is very excellent and I would recommend it. But be aware you may find pork among foods.
Dinner is bad and not varied in choices. Shami Indian food .. remains sweets department distinctive and beautiful!
Some kind of rigidity they have at the time of leaving the hotel at 12:00, do not think about two laps.

Can't visit Oman and not visit this place. Stunning hotel. Excellent service, staff and facilities. We had an amazing stay and would 100% recommend.

Extraordinary hotel perched above a canyon. The rooms are large, the cleanliness and the view of the canyon is worth the detour. For the meal, the buffet is of exceptional quality, but a little expensive (around 50), the breakfast is gargantuan. Beware if you travel with a rental car, take a 4x4, otherwise the police will not let you go, this is what happened to us, fortunately once there the director and the staff are extremely competent and helpful. Thank you

This accommodation is nestled in the Jabal Al Akhdar hills. Only 50mins from Nizwa this resort has amazing views and excellent service. The rooms feel like apartments rather than a hotel room. The view from the rooms are of breathtaking canyons. There are some restaurants and a spa to relax as well as an infinity pool over looking the canyons. I would recommend this accommodation.

Wonderful place . Heaven on earth. Beautiful beach with white sand and extended area with luxurious facility and friendly staff.They have 3 resturants with diffrent menu.The Tahi restaurant is delicious. Unfortunately the staff are overwhelmed and running all over the place.If you want a time out of busy life this is the place for you.

Nothing beats this resort!
This is the best resort that is worth 10 stars.
The breathtaking view from the terrace at 2000 meters above sea level and a glass of wine and a glass of whiskey are reminiscent of the freshness.

Needless to say, the room condition is good and the staff are really friendly and helpful in the right place. The staff remember the guests' names and are always comfortable.

The view from the Infinite Pool is also really nice and makes me forget that the cool breeze is in the Middle East despite August.

The quality of the breakfast is excellent, and the special Oman honey located in the corner is a must-try.

There are also a lot of activities, so you won't be bored.

Five stars for their recreational center. We did the rock climbing activity with Maher Al Riyami and Hussain Al Zakwani. They did a great job. It was fun, exiting, and I enjoyed the activity. All safety measures were accounted for and they explained the process and instructions very well in Arabic and in English. Honestly, I thought it will be an okay activity, but it exceeded my expectations and thus they deserve more than five stars!

I would give 4 stars for the Resort itself. Service needs improvements (not as expected).

Superb location and atmosphere, ideal for a fantastic relaxing getaway marvelous scenery to get lost in and wonderful setup absolutely surreal when you immerse yourself in it. Great touring and activities staff, only drawback would be their seeming lack of courtesy as regards billing and clarification

Such an amazing hotel!! If you are staying at the pool villa you will get your personal butler that will be available at your finger tips. We got Yesser and he provided us with his personal WhatsApp. That s amazing! Apart from the 5 stars service from all other staffs, the food and view here are also fabulous. Activities are also great from morning yoga to the cliff climb. I had the most amazing time here and if I am able to visit again, I would definitely spend a night or two at this hotel again. The experience was more than my expectation!

Very nice location of the hotel with a breathtaking view. The rooms are very spacious and tastefully decorated. The staff is extremely courteous and super friendly, the breakfast buffet very varied and delicious. I can highly recommend the hotel!

There are few hotels in the world where there is almost nothing to complain about. This is one of them. We had a Cliffpool Villa and were completely satisfied

I recently stayed in the three bedroom cliff villa with my family. From the moment we arrived our stay was made incredibly special through the warmth and generosity of Majorie and Ana who took care of us treating us like family. The villa was incredible, but it truly was the friendliness and professionalism of all the staff that made the stay even more special. We have a huge feeling of gratitude for the care taken towards us at the Anantara and looking forward to our next stay.

With unrivaled views of the Omani Highlands and spectacular starry skies overnight, this place is well worth a long weekend stay. As many things in Oman, prices are stratospheric so you must be prepared to shell out top coin to get there. Still, it is well worth a short stay if only to take a deep breath and feel the skies. Rooms are good as is the food but nothing to be shocked and awed about. Go with a date or significant other and snuggle up with a blanket of stars. You'll remember it for a long time.

Was there on January and forgot my toiletry bag which had valuable item's, came back for it on April, after waiting for some time with the concierge. Ive been told that its not there.

Great location...excellent Italian restaurant....attentive but not intrusive staff....live close by so use coffee lounge and Italian frequently....famous for Dianas Point views.....Prince Charles and Diana spent night on location before hotel built.
New visit.
We all have bad days but visit on 10th November to Italian restaurant was 2 star experience, food high standard as usual but staff appalling for 5 star restaurant. Am frequent visitor as I live locally...now avoiding this restaurant... the courtyard Cafe for me in future....sad.

A very beautiful hotel on the most beautiful mountains of Amman, the Green Mountain, and this place is a beautiful place to relax and contemplate the mountainous nature

A beautiful place in the mountains. Great service. Note that in order to get there, you need 4WD for the last 35 km. "Usually" 4x4 ie AWD are not passed through the police. You can park at the bottom and catch bargains or order pick up at the hotel. Great place for mountain gears. Podbiegi to settlements in the area with views during the sunset flawless!

Amazing location and views, fantastic symmetry and architecture. An outstanding place to be in Oman

We had half board - dining in the main restaurant (buffet style) was pretty disappointing and not worthy of an otherwise 5 Star hotel. Breakfast was good, but still lacking when compared to other hotels like the 4*Hilton breakfast. The rooms and view are epic. The staff was nice, but considering the price point, the experience was not what we've expected.

Lovely place and unique for its location on the tip of mountain canyons with views of villages across the canyons and the weather is much cooler than the rest of the Sultanate. Many activities offered and a variety of restaurants from Italian to Arabic cuisines and cafes. I Had delicious lunch and dinner in an Iranian restaurant inside a Persian decorated tent. Highly recommended for families and those who consider privacy for good food and stay.

A lovely hotel in stunning scenery, made all the more impressive after the long and winding drive up from Muscat. However, once you're here there's not much to do unless you want to spend more money or rather overpriced events.

It's a relatively new hotel which made the lack of detail and small imperfections even more noticeable: tiles missing from the edge of the infinity pool, decking missing small sections. Having come so far and paid significantly more than other hotels in Oman, it was a disappointment.

Would I come back? Yes, but not for more than a night or two and only if I wanted to just relax and take in the scenery. Having said that, you can sit by the pool in some great locations in Muscat and save yourself some money and the long journey up.

Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar Resort is the epitome of luxury. But the journey is tough. The way to the hotel is only passable with 4WD, which is also controlled by the police at the checkpoint shortly after the exit of Birkat al Mouz. If you don't have a 4WD car, you can either use the hotel transfer (very expensive) or a taxi driver (negotiate, but still expensive) to drive you up to the Hajar Mountains. The distance is approx. 30 km.

Just a dream. That's how you want your own home. The terrace led out to the canyon.

Particularly noteworthy is the incredible breakfast buffet, which, in addition to many other highlights, serves a variety of fruit, home-baked goods and excellent coffee.

The infinity pool and viewing platform on the edge of the Grand Canyon of Oman are breathtaking. The great spa leaves nothing to be desired.

Not as good as I expected but still very nice. Rooms very spacious, service excellent but very pricey.

This is a magnific facility an a fantastic experience. In every moment of your stay, I can say you will feel like it is a dream! Rooms are spatious and overlooking the mind blowing gorges, peaks, wadis of Jabal Akhdar mountains. All staff is so kind. I highly recommend.
