AMS has been the most amazing job for the last 4 years! Lifeguards are paid above minimum wage, encouraged beyond compare, and is an amazing space to interact and make friends with people from all over the area. With tremendous opportunities for improvement, it is a great way to prepare for future jobs and allows individuals to develop very important communication skills. 10/10 recommend!

I don't know what some of these 1 star reviews are about. I was able to net about $3,100. If you want more shifts, pick some up from others lifeguards. Show enthusiasm and ask your managers for more shifts and you will be scheduled them. AMS always guarantees time off if requested a month in advance. Great first job.

I am going into my third season at AMS and it has been the best first job anyone could ask for. Don t listen to the one star reviews, you won t find any other company able to provide 15 year olds $10.00 per hour STARTING pay, a job within 10 minutes from home, flexible and fair days off, and a job where you get to work at a swimming pool.

Not to mention there are great promotional opportunities. If you work hard, pick up shifts, and make yourself stand out to your managers you will have no problem getting promoted to head guard within your first year (if your 16). It looks great on a resume or a college application.

To the people on these reviews that complain about not getting hours, obviously the more experienced lifeguards are going to get more hours than you, as with any job. If you want more hours, there is an area wide group chat where there is at least one person asking for someone to take their shift everyday. Or you could ask your area manager and they will send you open shifts. If you want hours, you will find them.
I worked over 400 hours last season.

AMS gives you any days off you ask for one month in advance and if something comes up, you usually won t have problems switching shifts with another guard.

Working for AMS has been an amazing job that I ve made lasting friendships in and I ve learned valuable leadership skills from. I couldn t imagine working for anybody else, if you are looking for a job and you want to make money and meet lots of cool people, AMS is a great place to work.

Quite possibly one of the worst jobs I ve ever had. If you enjoy working for terrible pay and doing an insane amount of work, this job would be perfect for you. My advice is be a lifeguard for another company because you ll make more money and you ll have more fun.

Best lifeguard company around. You will not find a company more dedicated to developing work ethic and leadership in high school students. I have met some of my lifelong best friends working at AMS Pools. They pay very well and host company events so that you get to know your coworkers better. You will not regret spending a summer working at AMS pools.

I have worked with AMS Pools for 4 years now and it has been fantastic! With this job you learn first hand skills that will last a lifetime. I have had numerous experiences that I have learned and grown from. While being a part of the management team everyone is extremely helpful and always there for you. Not only will your coworkers turn into some of your closet friends but you will meet more of community and truly impact their lives. While this job can be difficult at times I would recommend AMS Pools to anyone seeking a summer job!

AMS has been an amazing job for the past three seasons! This has to be the best first time job. Management is beyond helpful with training, schedules, and simple everyday operations. The discipline and job experiences learned throughout the seasons has shown me what it means to do your job and be apart of a company. I also can t forget to mention the various amazing friendships that I have because of this job and the multiple company events that they have.

I started this job as a 15 year old and absolutely loved it. I ended up making over $2000 dollars over the summer and management was completely helpful with scheduling around school, sports, and trips as long as I put in my days off by the month before. If I had a last minute event, I was able to trade shifts with my coworkers or use an oncall if it was urgent. AMS gave me a very clear understanding of how a company is supposed to run and a ton of super fun memories with my friends. However, the management is very young so there can be some drama and commitment issues.

Please let us send our high recommendation for AMS Pools. I am the president of a local HOA and we use AMS to maintain our pool. We had used 4 different companies in the past year and we could not get our pool where it needed to be. AMS stepped up and took careful concern of our pool, including additional attention in the early season to make sure the pool was acceptable. Our residents really enjoyed the pool this year, mainly because it was always clean and great for swimming. If you are looking for a quality pool cleaning company, call AMS!

AMS Pools was the very first job I received when I...

AMS Pools was the very first job I received when I was a freshman in high school back in 2015. Now, as we near 2020, I still come back to work for this company every summer. I have even worked my way from a standard lifeguard to the Area Manager for the Hamilton Mill/Suwannee/Flowery Branch Areas due to the great leadership, helpful opportunities and experience and lessons learned from staying with this company for the past five years.

First and foremost, AMS is a lifeguarding focused company. The skills that an employee learns such as CPR, First-Aid, and Rescues, if they are properly maintained and taken seriously, will go a long way in being beneficial for everyday life.

With that being said, the flexibility AMS is willing to provide in order to work within your schedule is another great benefit when working with this company. Requested days off are guaranteed if they are submitted on time. AMS and their managers understand that a majority of their employees are young high school-aged kids, who may be involved with other extracurricular activities or may take a family vacation during the summer, and are willing to work with the days you are available if you are willing to talk with the managers and request days off.

The culture around AMS is also another great valuable experience that employees can hardly find anywhere else. AMS hosts great outside work events that bring employees closer as friends and family, such as Volleyball tournaments, Lifeguard Olympic games, outings to Main Event, AMS Oscars awards, and many other events that the managers will often individually plan. Most of the big events that are hosted by the heads of AMS are paid for, such as outings to Main Event, and often include food and drinks as well as local activities. The friends that one makes while working will also last throughout all seasons, not just the summer, as most of the people working within this company are relatively the same age and are very relatable and understanding of one another.

As of the beginning of the 2020 season, AMS is raising base pay for all first-year lifeguards to $10 an hour. This is $2.75 more than when I first started with, and opportunities for working more hours than you are scheduled by taking open shifts, or switching shifts come practically daily. Along with the pledge to staff employees within 10 minutes of their school's location, a summer job with AMS offers an easy and great paying opportunity for many young adults who wish to experience the workforce, meet new people within their age group, establish potential lifelong friends, attend fun outside work events, and experience the amazing culture of AMS lifeguards.

Do NOT let your children work at AMS...management ...

Do NOT let your children work at AMS...management does NOT do their job and the staff and lifeguards are made to do their work for them so you are overwhelmed with doing others work you don't get paid enough to do for them; when you are "on call" you have to be available for work at a moments notice but do NOT get paid for being "on call"; the staff shows favoritism on staffing shifts so most lifeguards don't have enough hours throughout the season to pay for the lifeguards expenses of $255 and earn good money; everyone laughs at the management and complains about them, even the area managers. Not a positive atmosphere to work in and I recommend you look elsewhere for a job.

Beware do not let your teen work here for the summer. They are a great company for HOAs but for the life guards, it s awful. My daughter was only scheduled enough hours to net around $600, minus over $200 in training fees. She was also scheduled numerous times as a gate guard in a neighborhood pool and was alone there until 10pm. She was terrified. People, especially teenage girls, should feel safe at work. Just all around an awful job and waste of what could have been a productive, college money saving summer.

Love working here every summer! Super great people to bond with, fun company events and area outings as well. Upper management is great and really know how to help out. The pay is great compared to other companies that hire HS students as well.

The life guards do not adhere or enforce the rules of the neighborhood pool and bring their friends so they are distracted. The management of AMS needs training in customer service and listening skills.

In the past four years at AMS Pools, I have gained invaluable work experience and have been given multiple opportunities to advance to higher leadership positions. In these leadership positions, I have been supported and allowed to grow my managerial and customer service skills. You also get to meet some of the best friends you ll ever have working at this company. The work place environment is amazing, the lifesaving skills you receive are invaluable, and management is more than accommodating and friendly. Don't listen to the one star reviews; if you work hard and buy into the company, you'll have an amazing summer!

I have worked for AMS Pools for the past two years and about to start my 3rd season with them! Super fun company to work at. I've made many friendships through getting to know other employees at various company events like company dodge ball tournaments! It is a great first job and one you can continue for many years. Working here has been great!

AMS Pools has been a fantastic and exciting company to work for over the past 2 years. I have had numerous memorable moments with new friends, have gained many real world applicable skills, and thoroughly enjoyed the summers I have worked. This company, though it may seem difficult and tiring at times, has shown that they truly care about their staff and their well being in addition building the leaders of tomorrow in their future endeavors in their careers. A constant flow of positive energy is given from the management combined with fun large company outings makes this job #1 for summer jobs for teens. Highly recommended as a first job, extremely fun, extremely easy, and totally worth it.
