After several calls to get information on my dental and vision premiums being drafted out of my account, I was told today that the amount deducted recently included my premium plus what I owe from past months. Why did it take so many calls for someone to explain this to me? The representative I spoke to today was rude and said to "listen to me"! This is not acceptable and extremely unprofessional. I think his name was Roger and he spoke with a heavy accent. He called me on January, 27th at 1:11pm.

When I heard about AMBA, I reached out for information for a retired friend of mine. She was contacted pretty quickly. The person she met with was professional and informative. They provide some great services for retired teachers!
So far I'm a bit aggravated with this outfit. According to their promo for Dental Insurance they state that if one enrolls in September their plan would take effect October 1, 2014 however, even though I sent them a check (3) weeks ago and they cased it a week ago, they have not yet processed it. Its one day away from October 1st. Apparently they have to send it to the outfit they have a contract with about acquiring members: i.e. Ameritas. I hope its not an indication of their future services. Rating as of Sept. 29 5 p.m. one star
My mother, who is 79, was contacted by one of their representatives and she agreed to meet with them the following morning at 9 AM. After thinking about it she had second thoughts and asked me to call to reschedule. I called the number that was left and asked to reschedule the meeting for another time and that my mother was not able to meet. Next morning the representative showed up at my mothers house saying she never got the voice mail. I find that hard to believe in this day and age. She convinced my mother to answer some questions and ended up filling out an application for their services. Luckily when the rep asked for my mothers bank account information my mother stopped her and said she wanted to talk to me and she would like the rep to call me as well.
The rep called me later that day and was asking to meet to sign final papers the next day. The representative spoke pretty much non-stop and very fast. She continued to push the idea that we needed to get this signed very quickly. After having to interrupt a few times and tell her we wanted to look into the company the representative said, "Well I guess I am not going to win this argument". I told her it was not a competition but we wanted to look into AMBA before we went any further. She then told me that "she didn't have time for this" as it was Friday and she had lots of people to call. I asked her to call us back in a week and we would go from there.
I was told repeatedly that AMBA was endorsed by the teachers association, however after asking our union leader he said they were not connected what so ever with the NEA or ISTA, our two main teachers organization. My mother felt very much like she was being pushed into signing something without really understanding it and after speaking to the representative I understand why. She did not want to take no for an answer and seemed unwilling to listen to our wanting us to find out anything more about the company than what she had communicated. They may be a reputable business and they may be very helpful, I have had a hard time finding any reviews other than these few on google, however this representatives tactics were very aggressive and her urgency to have us sign as soon as possible made both of us very uncomfortable. My mother ended up talking to her normal insurance person and getting it worked out. If anyone is wondering, the representative from AMBA never called back.
