Great service for both residential and commercial projects, monitoring, and automation. I had always been really happy with with Royal Security before the merger, and now I'm just as happy. They've been very helpful lately with the access systems on our church and daycare.
Never had a problem with them for 8 years. They kept raising the price each year by exactly 3%, but that's understandable. Then we renewed recently for the whole year, and just after that, our income went down quite a bit, so some things had to go. We substituted a different phone service to save money, and the alarm system stopped working, which would have required a service call and a payment of $399 for a new system. Since the purpose was to save money, we cancelled the service instead, a week before the renewal year was about to begin. They sent us a check back, but they kept $80 of the renewal fee, just for the hell of it. When we questioned it, they said that "we were in breech of contract". Umm, no, the contract didn't even start yet. Jeez. Needless to say, we're eating the $80, because it's just not worth the headache. We always send in our payments with plenty of time to spare. In this case, it was just over 2 weeks early. If we had waited two days before we wrote the check, we wouldn't be writing this review, since we wouldn't be out the $80, because we never would've sent in the renewal fee. Really sleazy.
I have personally known upper management for many years. Their equipment, knowledge and ability to perform is first rate.
When receiving a quote about service, question the labor charge in GREAT DETAIL! I was charged $1530 for labor based on my service quote. When I emailed for details, I received a phone call within 15 minutes from the sales rep. He explained it was for two days with two techs based on the need for extensive multi-floor drilling from attic to basement with extra wiring having to be run based on length of service need. On day of install, one tech arrived. I asked where was the others on the team? I was told that only one installer was required. After reviewing the property, the tech said that most of what was listed on the work order was unnecessary and floor drilling would not be needed. Then I was told that the job would be for one day, not two. The tech arrived soon after 9:00am and was done by 3:00pm with time for lunch. About 6 hours work. My labor quote was for two days and two techs. So, that comes to around $250 an hour at a grossly misrepresented charge. When I contacted the sales rep, his only reply offered a small discount on future services and a refusal to adjust the labor charge. Attempts to discuss with the General Manager were just as dismissive. It was nearly 30 days to get a response from the manager and that was nothing more than a refusal of conversation as well. A direct quote We have nothing more to talk about. You may contact the State Attorney General s Office of Consumer Affairs to register a complaint. Be sure to reference our PA State HICPA Registration Number PA005693 when you do to speed the process along.
I would highly recommend not going with Altronics. If you do, make sure that the labor portion is line item entered in writing with every detail listed to make sure you don t get taken advantage of as well.
