We really love coming here! But these year prices where so high! $30 per person including children ! We were a group of 18. 18x30=540 just on entrance tickets !! This farm is amazing but worth the price i dont think so, this includes the mazes, apples and vegetables only. You get one 1/4 bag per person ?!?! If you would like to get pumpkin is extra and everything else is extra! My family and i wont be coming back

I am so surprised by these reviews!!!
My friend Recommended this place to us as a nice farm to visit in the fall for pumpkin picking. I was pleasantly surprised by the activities they had going on for my 2 kids (hay rides, pony rides, corn maze, animal petting and feeding) just to name a few. We went the first time and it was pretty packed, i suggest going during the week if possible for you. yes this farm is large and it is open to the public, so you might bump into some rude folk (but that's every where you go)\
The staff here is very helpful and friendly. We went back a 2nd time to their Easter event and my kids loved it!!! yet again tons of activities and baby animals!!!
The market sell the yummiest pies, fruits and veggies.
We cant wait to visit in the summer for strawberry picking!
Thanks Alstede farms for getting my city kids out of the city to have a whole lot of fun at the farm!!!!

Every time I come here I swear I will never come back, this last visit was the same. Ridiculous charging for a basket to carry pick your own fruit (bring your own...I forgot). Walking up to hay ride for pick your own the tractor left. We then had to wait 20 minutes for it to come back. 20 minutes to pickup and drop off people? Give me a break (it was early and slow at the time). For the prices they charge they should be running two tractors. I agree it costs money to run a farm, but others apparently appear to be better at it because they charge less. If you just want to pick your own then I suggest you go somewhere else. If you want to deal with long lines and chaos with your kids then this is the place to visit.

Plus: They have good ice cream.

Lovely Farm in Chester,NJ. Its about an hr drive from NY. I suggest arriving early so you beat any big crowds. They've a great selection of fruits & vegetables that you can pick yourself, tracker rides to help you explore the entire farm, horse rides & a bouncy house for the kids, a sunflower maze to walk through, lots of animals to look st & feed, wine tasting for the adults, food stands, homemade icecream, & a garden/farmer's market. Keep in mind, if you pick any fruits or veggies, they will get weighed & then you pay. If you want to save money, you can bring your own food & have a picnic there with friends & family. If you don't want to eat there, you can drive further into town to grab a bite to eat.

Way too over crowded we had to wait 1hour just to use the restrooms and get out wristbands. When we finally finished picking whatever was left of the apples. The prices where pretty high. When asked about this we were told it was so the employees could make livable wages. But we with how many people come through here they shouldn t have anything near that issue especially when they don t cap there capacity

This was a great farm with plenty to do and see. We got an all access pass for our 11 year old and he was able to keep himself entertained while we went fruit picking. The hay ride was fabulous, Such a beautiful location. The farm shop is small, but paced with homemade goods at reasonable prices. We had lunch there as a treat-standard burgers and dogs, and wonderful potato pancakes, which are about the only things on the menu for vegetarians, so plan ahead. The homemade ice cream was amazing, but huge, so don't overdo it! They pick different parts o the farm during the different months, so it pays to plan ahead. Looking forward to another trip back.

The prices are way too high. Almost $100 in tickets for 3 people. If you want to pick more than the already small sized bag they give you, you have to pay extra. I think that was kind of ridiculous. Food there was also expensive. Ended up spending almost $200 for a mediocre experience. I don t think me and my family will come back here.

Don't buy strawberries here! I bought some a few weeks ago at the new stand on the east side of Chester, half of them were rotten! I bought some a few days ago at the other stand (allegedly their own) they tasted like supermarket berries (as in no taste). I guess that explains why they have strawberries when all of the other local stands do not.

It was so crowded today and just overwhelming, I advise people to buy tickets online in advance for any of the activities etc. But don't get me wrong this farm will always have a special place in my heart just perhaps not on the weekends Y'all will have a blast just make sure you come equipped with patience.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. We came for engagement pictures and from the start almost all staff members were extremely rude. We were told prior to visiting that we could stay an extra half an hour after closing to take photos without an additional charge if we arrived by a certain time. The bride spoke with Melinda who is in charge of the facility who specifically said it was okay. Upon arriving we were immediately told to hurry up because there would be no tractors to take us back. We called to speak with Melinda when the staff was giving us a hard time and they had let us know she left for the day and never told the bride that we could stay. Already upset we tried to ask if we could stay for a few extra minutes based on the agreement made with Melinda. They had let us know that she was coming to speak with us and when she did she aggressively told us that she was already home and had to come back to deal with us. She made the bride cry and continued to yell at us. This was an extremely rude and unprofessional experience that we had. We will never go back or recommend this place to anyone. Melinda did not handle herself professionally and when we were walking out as the bride was crying she would not even look at us. We understand that there are rules and policies but there were still other people at the farm and feel that we could have been treated a lot nicer when we didn t deserve it. We did not once raise our voices or disrespect anyone to get that type of treatment. Horrible service horrible experience and especially horrible treatment from Melinda.

We had a great time picking berries, riding the hayride, petting the animals and walking through the sunflower field. There was hand sanitizer everywhere and the place felt very clean. We will definitely be back.

I have been to many farms in my life and this one is my new favorite. It s clean and well staffed. Pumpkin picking, apples, corn, potatoes, berries you name it. 14.99 per person or 24.99 for the kids to do everything like bounce house pony rides etc. lots of animals too. You have to pay for what you pick. So much to choose from.

Went with family on Sunday , the farm had lines all over( rides, entrances, to cash register , every single bathroom on premises had huge lines !! ) not very pleasant nor fun to spend the weekend. Event though the farm itself is nice.
Went on shuttle to the downtown village which the farm provides even with shuttle had to wait 40 min to and 1 hour back.
Overall lost a bunch of time. Not coming back here for sure and not recommending this place. There many more less hectic and more fun farms elsewhere.

The place is huge and they have a ton of activities, but at $30 per person (yes kids too) they really drain your wallet so you can fill a tiny bag with fruit you pick. Everything else is extra $$

Nice farm but 4 star as this is extremely expensive..they charged entrance fee of 8 per person and 18 per child and rest all..other things you have to pay extra for, the food is more than double the price and their produce too.. it was a fun activity for my 5 year old nicely arranged and we had a good time.. bring food and water to save cost if you plan to stay long hrs.. the trolley transfer was great for pickings.

BY FAR THY MOST EXPENSIVE APPLES AND PUMPKINS ! I completely understand that the costs go toward paying the staff but the prices are just ridiculous. The sunflowers were dead and it was so overcrowded that it made the experience so overwhelming.. and for the prices it was totally NOT worth the time or the money... I ve been to other farms and this by far is the most expensive one. Save your money and go else where.

Ridiculously expensive. $60 just to walk through the door with wife and 2 children. They actually charge you for a box to put your apples in. So one small box of apples (about 25 - 30 of them) with 2 medium size pumpkins was another $50. No hot cider donuts or hot cider. It's an event. Also waited about 40 minutes on line to get tickets so buy online if you intend to go. The line was only about 15 - 20 minutes.

I really want to rate this place higher but I just can't get over how expensive the experience was. After paying 100 dollars for entry for six and two boxes just to be able to pick about 25 dollars worth of produce it just seems to take away from the experience. The produce was good but I can honestly say it was the first and last time we visit. There are plenty of smaller farms that can be just as enjoyable of an experience for a lot less.

I would always come here with me family we came with 9 people total and this year we came but the prices are now crazy 30$ for each person. I also had to pay 30$ for a 4 year old and the bags they give only fit 3 apples. Never coming back.

We have come back over and over to this one farm b...

We have come back over and over to this one farm because they seem to have a little of everything. Our first visit was a pancake breakfast in the barn and it was really fun. A hayride drove us out to the barn where the breakfast buffet was served. It was clean and the food was delicious. My 2 year old tried a bit of everything which is amazing because he's picky eater. Next the hayride took us on a ride around the grounds and we ended up at the pick your own strawberry fields. Our little guys were too exhausted to do any of the activities so we have been back to see the animals, buy fruits and vegetables, ride the ponies, pumpkin pick... The last time we were there for pumpkin picking, it was a little crazy and overcrowded. If it can be avoided, try not to go on a weekend before Halloween.

Great but dont like they charge the entry.. the place feels more like a tourist attraction. Ponies rides 9.99 plus tax entry fee with pint to pick is about $12. Its ok i guess not bad. I just wish customer service was better regardless of race or skin color.

This is our must visit place for the summer. This was our 4th time visit to the farms. We cant say more we love it. Easy parking..lot of space. Process of getting in and out is not cumbersome.
So many things to pick apples, berries, peaches, vegetables- squash, potato, tomatoes, eggplant.
They give you a pag with the ticket coz of covid now. Also tasting fruit in the farm is not permitted any more due to cdc guidelines.

Make sure you wear comfortable shoes and keep water and sunscreen.
A lot of walking, which is good...but dont worry they have buggy rides stop too.

Kids enjoy the picking up of fruits, mini zoo,hay pile to play and the mini mazes and the icecream counter.
We love their icecream and specially the fresh made corn bread.
Cant wait to go in 2021 again.

Excellent environment. Fresh everything. Things are a bit pricey for my taste but I imagine that is like most places. Water in the fields was like 3 dollars a bottle. And the market is a bit steep for some items. Overall great place to spend a day on a farm.

Thank you for making our first time strawberry picking farm experience worth the travel! I apreciate a lot your well organized operations, welcoming staff and clean premices! As a healthcare worker I admire your efforts in keeping the environment safe by sanitizing rails, putting multiple hand washing stations, maintaining neat bathrooms and modifying the area to allow social distancing the way we still enjoyed our time. The animal farm is not big as other people noticed, but my kids found a way to spend lots of time there)).The wooden bridge for animals and rolling feeder mechanism (not sure about the proper name) made the trick. They also liked informational boards about animals they saw there. The boards are child friendly and my kids actually were interested in reading them. The ice cream and smoothies were great, same for potato chips. I wish you had more shadows or big trees in these hot sunny days.

Love what this farm has to offer. The employees though are EXTREMELY rude. I didn't think it was possible to have this many unhappy people at one place. We had 3 encounters with three separate employees within our 2 hours of being there. I don't even want to go into detail just beware that they are pretty unhappy. Otherwise the place was awesome. Huge selection for the pick your own and the animals are a lot of fun. There was however a goat with it's head stuck in a fence and when I told an employee she told me it wasn't her job. Glad to know they care.

Several co-workers went apple picking here 2 weekends ago and were charged $20 a person admission. I'm sorry but I find that astronomical considering you then have to pay $3 for the box to put your apples in which the apples are then weighed and charged an additional price for them. (Paying for the apples absolutely that's what you are purchasing) I can not see how they can justify charging a $20 (per person) admission fee.

The farm is large and there is plenty to do, but it was so crowded. The crowds and over picking of the trees detracts from the fun of PYO apples. Also, the Apple prices are quite high, two small buckets cost about$100 plus the $30 entrance fee just to get into the orchard. Tried to go into the farm store but there was a very long line to get in. I would only go again during the fall on a week day.

A great getaway place that helps you shut the hussel and bussel of the big city. They have a variety of activities and have maintained its rustic charm. A great place to bring your kids too. When I visited the farm it was the season of strawberry picking. In retrospect, one should definitely carry plenty of sunscreen and be prepared to get dirty. The atmosphere and vibe of the place will undoubtedly help you unwind and de-stress. Strawberry picking was around $16(for 2 people) and they charge you extra for boxes to store the strawberries that you pick from the farm. After you pick them they weigh it and charge you $3.79 per lb. By noon they start live music too. All in all a must see place if you want to feel one with nature.

Nice farm, easy to navigate, and plenty of produce to pick from. Important to go "in season" periods if looking to pick something specific. *Wear boots! Especially, on cloudy days where, ground may be damp. Lots of walking. Nice landscape. Yummy ice cream. Btw, cab ride needed to get to farm if using public transportation.

Well organized family fun for young kids (3-8 is probably ideal). Probably about 2-3 hours of stuff to do - and check out their fixed price events like their Easter and Spring Festival. You can bring your own food and snacks and they are dog-friendly too. Good wheelchair/Jazzie/scooter accessibility too.

Only go if you want to spend a lot of money. This is the 3rd year in a row I have gone to alstede for Apple and pumpkin picking and have picked other fruits and vegetables there also. The prices are insane. $13 a person just to get in! This place has become to overwhelming and wasn t what it used to be. The amount of people there makes it almost not even enjoyable. There were more apples on the ground then the trees and the pumpkins were all rotten! Would recommend melicks or wightmans instead. Will not be returning next year.

What a rip off.. if your going apple picking lol be aware that the bag they give you with the $27 entrance fee will fit 5 apples when I saw the bag I was shocked , so me and my daughter got 10 apples for around $65 .. never been to a picking farm with tiny bags for apples, were already paying premium I feel like we got ripped off so bad ..
