One of our favorite farms. It changed a lot since we started going there 7 years ago. Everything is bigger and better and of course more expensive. Take a picnic bag and food. One small French fry boat will cost u about $4 its outrageous... Otherwise, the PYO is nice.

Way overpriced. Especially with the pick your own. You can get a very small bag for fruits and vegetables and a pint of berry which will cost you 16.99 a person if you purchase the tickets online or 20 a person if you buy tickets there. 80 dollars for a family of 4 and 4 pints of berries is absolutely absurd. Never going back.

I've been to this farm before in the Fall. It's very pricey. They charge you a $7.00 fee to pick your own fruits/vegetables and also charge $3.49 a pound for very small strawberries. The area where the hayride takes you to pick the strawberries is a safety hazard to say the least. Big rocks everywhere. People where stumbling all around me. I called yesterday to inquire if there was other things to pick besides strawberries to make my 1:40 minute drive from Brooklyn worth it....I was told you could also pick asparagus. Sam, the tractor driver told me the asparagus field was closed for picking. I was so upset! Interacting with the animals was a bonus. The Ducks, goats, chickens, roasters, bunnies, horse and donkeys were adorable. The ice cream was $3.49 for a kiddie cup and bland. I ordered butter pecan, my husband chocolate. I will not be going back. So sad. This place used to be worth the trip.

My boyfriend and I have been going to alstede now for 3yrs for Apple/pumpkin picking. The price have increased dramatically $13 per person picking fee, have to pay for box or container, and at the end pay $2.70per pound for the apples. Also this year there was so many apples on the ground and the pumpkins weren t great either. The overall experience is fun and the workers running the hay ride were very friendly but, for the price it s not worth it. Will be looking into other farms to go to next year if prices stay the same.

Total ripoff. You have to pay for every little thing. From the website I got the impression that they were organic but everything for you pick were not organic. In the end we ended up spending about a $100 for very little non organic produce. My guess is that this place might be good for families with young kids.

The place is big. You can pick your own pretty much anything. Raspberries, Apples, Pumpkins, Peppers, Tomatoes, Eggplants, Potatoes etc. Plus hay rides, corn maze keeps you engaged for a long time.

However, they charge an entrance fees per person. The lines to buy tickets can get ridiculously long. Though they have a lot of parking, getting in and out will take at least half an hour.

So, if you are willing to put up with the parking and the long b ticketing line, it's a good place to hangout with the family.

Almost $70 for two people & that doesn't include items you pick. Includes hayrides for transportation but they only go one way, distances are far & you take in a lot of smoke from the gas the whole way (with a facemask it makes it worse). All that for small sites to see. Sunflowers were pretty but it was a pretty small planted area, sadly. Eh, would rather spend less for more somewhere else. Thanks but not again.

Normally this would be a 5 star experience but not this year. Last year we had a great time and picked a few items. Walked with our toddler. They have a mini farm for the kids. However this year they are way way OVERPRICED and not worth it. We drove long with a toddler and a baby only to see this year it costs $25 a person plus tax and they give you a small quarter bag to pick your own fruit. Can barely fit anything in it. For our family that would have cost us $75+ tax for a few apples basically. We opted to leave. It s sad bc we visit a bunch of farms during the fall and this was one of the best ones. Don t bother this year. It s too expensive. They claim it s due to pandemic guidelines but this is an outside farm. So what are they charging so much for? Hand sanitizer? I feel like they are taking advantage.

I am sorry to say we didnt even make it to the orchard as we were talked to very rudely by Patricia

We called the farm about 10 minutes out to ask about the corn maze as we could not find any tickets for it online . We have our small dog and were excited when we found a pet friendly orchard. When I expressed we only wanted to visit the store and do a corn maze which their pet policy permits and online photos confirm, Patricia's response was anything but friendly . Not only was she very rude but extremely condescending and even raised her voice on the phone .

This is extremely unprofessional and was enough to make us turn around after driving 45 minutes to visit .

Very nice farm with good produce. The pick your own apples are extremely expensive however. You get a small bag that can fit 3 or 4 apples at most for 20 dollars. Not cool. Wine tasting was nice though.

When purchasing tickets they lead you to believe that only a certain amount of people would be on the farm at a given time. This place was over crowded and over priced. They were NOT following CDC guidelines for social distancing. Just because they put up signs to wear masks, there was no enforcement whatsoever. Although they did check pack packs for stolen apples!! Clearly, their priorities are all about making money rather then their customers health and safety. I will no be visiting again

It's always nice to come here in summer time. great hay ride so your kids would surely enjoy here! There are horses, sheep and donkeys so you can pet them. In summer time, there is sunflower maze to walk around. The entrans fee is around $8 if you want to enter sunflower maze or vegetables/fruits picking, you can pick vegetables and fruits, pay by weight. It's big farm though the hay ride come often so you can utilize it. I love their peach bread! And they have amazing variety of ice cream too. I got blueberry crumble - it was nice.

They GOUGE you for pick-your-own. We did the math and realized we paid 60% more for the blueberries that we picked than if we had just bought them in the store. We complained noting that we'd done all the work and they responding saying that we were paying extra "for the experience". What a ripoff. We do pick-your-own every year and most places DISCOUNT it, not mark it up. And they even charge by different rates so it's not easy to realized how much more expensive the PYO is. Don't bother going here unless you want to be ripped off.

My 5 year old daughter and I participated in the Peach Festival the weekend of August 5th and were very much looking forward to it. The farm was nice, as was the petting zoo, hayride and children's activities; however wish there were more activities. Prices were a bit high, considering other farms Ive been to. We had fun peach picking and were looking forward to juicy, ripe peaches, but all of them did not ripen properly for some reason, and they were gritty and not sweet. I was shocked! Especially considering the price I paid for them! I don't think we will be coming back to Alstede Farms. Will stick to the Princeton farms.

Overpriced $18 per person kids pay the same price . And this is just to go on the tractor ( hay ride ) l paid $72 just for that - not worth the money !!!They give you one small zip bag and you allowed to put ONLY vegetables not fruits !!! Besides that we inhaled so much dust from that tractor ride which is very unhealthy!!!
Not a good experience and will look for a nicer farm elsewhere!!!

I LOVE this place! I am also surprised at all the negative reviews, but I realize that unfortunately more people are inclined to write the negative ones. People are becoming more and more picky and therefore enjoy the simple things less and less.

Anyway...

YES, it can get busy here, but it's the same with the apple picking spots in upstate NY as well. Just go earlier in the day, earlier in the season or closer to the off season. I love all the extra activities they have. I mean, you can bring kids and spend ALL DAY there and because of this it is definitely worth the money. I love getting to pet and feed the animals!! They all have such character!

I'm also not sure why people are complaining about the exchange students. If they don't know they answer they will do their best to find someone who will. Also, I witnessed two of them find a lady's purse at the farmer's market in Morristown and they looked through it and looked around to try to find out whose it was. The woman was crying when they returned it to her! I've also known folks who were local that worked there and they loved it (even if they were exhausted from the extremely hard work that they do).

All in all, they are a great local farm that does it's best to satisfy everyone. So lighten up and go there and enjoy what they have to offer instead of nit-picking every little thing.

I went to this farm for fruit picking twice. I would've given it a 5 if not for the attitude from a lady today at the checkout register. My family and I had about 6 bags filled with apples. We were directed by security to stand in line for checkout after we got off a hay wagon.

We asked the lady at the checkout register if we had to pay, to which she says yes. After weighing the bags on the scale, she then says, "you're good, go". We were confused and asked once more to clear up the confusion because we didn't want to leave understanding if we had to pay or not. She then impatiently pressures us to proceed, overtly responding, "go, there's a long line behind you guys", seemingly annoyed. Our encounter was about 15 seconds. However, those stationed at the register for admission tickets were geniuinely nice.

Besides today's incident, the farm is beautiful, the food is delicious, the environment and atmosphere is wonderful, and I would love to return. I just hope the lady checks herself and hopefully, she won't treat another visiting customer/family like that again. I'm sure these employers are taught much better than that, even though they have to encounter many visitors almost everyday.

This place was packed on the weekend! I didn t see they respecting COVID protocols very much! They didn t reduce the number of the people in there, and not even had employees controling lines or asking people to use masks! Looked messy for me!
Also $29 per person for admission is very expensive! The supermarket is overpriced as well, but had very fresh stuff!
We enjoyed the winery, the only place that was less crowded and people were 6ft apart! We left earlier beause of that, and we drove from NYC! They have to improve the covid rules in there, because it s a great space but must to be way more organized about this!

A nice place for a weekend outdoor activity. They offer pick your own fruits including strawberries, peaches, apples, raspberries and vegetables for most part of spring, summer and falls. They have delicious home made ice cream and small petting zoo. There are also hey rides and pony rides. Arguably one of the best farms in New Jersey.

Me and family went here about three weeks ago for strawberry picking. We are a family of 5 so I paid close to $50 just to enter the picking field. To our surprise, there were almost no strawberry for picking. We spent almost three hours and came out with less than 3 lbs. I spoke the the girl while cashing out and she replied " No one else said anything". I also tried calling the next day to speak with someone about getting a refund for the price we paid to enter the field where there was not much to pick. Spoke to Patricia.( Who is not very friendly) she offered to send me ice cream vochers. I refused because I do not plan on visiting this farm again. Also the bathroom are so small there is no way you can change an infant. An an adult can barely fit in there.

Always a fun place to go throughout the year. My son loves running around picking fruits and veggies. Only real down side is it seems a little bit overpriced for pick your own. However, even on their busiest days the lines move pretty quick.

Excellent value and it has everything in one place!!
We went there with our son and the price for all of the activities is a great value. We paid around $50 for the three of us, one of which was an unlimited band for our son. This gave him access to all of the activities for the kids such as bounce house, kids hayride, pony ride, etc. it also included the corn maze for the three of us as well as the kids corn maze. The hayride takes you through the farm and you get off where you are looking to to pick. Whether it's pumpkins, apples, vegetables or flowers. The prices for the items you pick are great as well. We got three pumpkins for right under $20 and a one of their boxes half filled of apples for $16. We've been pumpkin picking in CT and the prices per lb were way more expensive. I can see this being a great place for us to go to yearly.
