We are homeless living in tent. And they still refused to take dog. U cant just throw animals in street. But they refuse to take animals. I'll never deal with these worthless ppl. They don't care about animals.im filing complaint with state. This should never get funding or donations.

I adopted a cat and they made me sign a paper saying that four or five different conditions that they were responsible for and then found out the one the conditions that was not on the paper that she had the cat had feline herpes and is contagious to your other animals and when I returned her they took her and then they would not give me my money back or let me exchange her for a different cat I do not recommend this place at all.

Great place that supports an entire city of stray pets. They are plugged in and can offer city-sponsored programs to help your pet get spayed or neutered for a low price. This is a great place to get a better understanding of your pet's needs. Friendly volunteers are there to help. Consider donating pet food here! You can ship through Amazon or just drop it off!

I have only bad things to say about this place. My wife and I were looking to adopt one of their rabbits, but it wasn't fixed yet. We were told that we needed to wait until that happened in order to adopt it. Two weeks go by and we call again and we were told the same thing--the rabbit wasn't fixed and we needed to wait. We called every week thereafter for about a month, and each time we offered a different way to pay for the operation, either paying a vet to go down to the shelter, or giving them money directly and each time they simply refused--and very seldom are they ever the least bit polite. Then I one day I get out of a long day of meetings and see that I have a missed call from this place, but no message. I call them back the first chance that I get the next day to find that the rabbit we wanted was transferred to Petsmart, I immediately call Petsmart to find that the rabbit had already been adopted. I recommend that you stay away and not have anything to do with this place, it's not worth the heartache....

This place is poorly run. Could not answer general questions about the dog my family and I had about the dog. Told me it takes 48 hrs to adopt. Give you the sense that the forever friend will be yours.Fill out a generic application and they will only call you back if they think you are a good fit. Call back to check and they were rude and said "We didn't call you did we?" So much for adopting a dog in need, I will just go buy one from a breeder.

I found a dog that was running on greenbush which is very busy most of the day. I brought her into our home to keep her safe. My wife and I posted her on Facebook and Craigslist trying to find the owner. Nobody claimed her, so I took her to this shelter and they told me that if nobody claims her in 5 days that she would be put up for adoption. I told them that if no one comes, I would like to adopt her. My wife emailed them and asked if she had been claimed and told them that we fell in love with her. They replied that she wasn't claimed and that she was going to be spayed and checked out by a vet. The same day she was posted online for adoption, we applied on their website (they were already closed for the day) and went in a little while after they opened the next day, just in time to see her walking out with someone else. It seems rude and inconsiderate of them to not allow the people who expressed interest in her via face to face and email to adopt her. Especially since we applied for adoption first. Our 5 year old son and her had become best friends in the time we had her here, we told him that we were going to pick her up when the shelter opened the next day and he was so excited. He had everything set up for her return...Needless to say, we are all heartbroken over the situation. On a side note, it seems like they have plenty of help, but yet everyone is standing around when their responsibilities to the animals are being neglected. I know this because there was so much feces in the kennels that there's no way they had cleaned them anytime recently.

We had lost our Baby kitty in 2017 and were sure he was gone forever even though he was chipped because he was gone for months. They not only let us know when he was scanned in, they helped us by fostering him for a month because we were in a hard spot due to hubby's cancer treatments. Awesome people, awesome facility!

They took my dog on Saturday at 3:50pm i got there at 4:02, while they were leaving i asked them if i could get my dog it would've took like 2 minutes i was ready to pay the fee (60$) but no they didnt want to do thats petty but its ok ill just get him tomorrow . The girl that didnt want to give me my dog said i could get my dog tomorrow keep that in mind. I went on their website and saw that their closed sunday and monday and every additional day is 15$, look i know 30$ might not be that much. But for me it is i can barely pay my rent let alone get food and now i have to come up with 90$ im not sayin this is a bad shelter its not but that girl that could have just gave me 1-2 minutes of her time cost me 30$ which i dont have.

My new family members are great. It took a bit to get the paperwork completed and I was really wanting to make it to my vet before closing time.
I was disappointed that there was an online application, but it didn't really count so I had to do it all again.

It really would have saved us all time to be able to use that information also... Where did that go? Noone could tell me that. That's a little concerning.

For some reason my review of this evil place seems to magically disappear. They surevdint want people to know about what they have done. Evil cowards are what they are and killing adoptable dogs is what they do.

I was there 2 months ago, searching for an adult dog to adopt. It was a Saturday and busy. Handicap parking available.
All pens were clean, w\raised beds for dogs to sleep upon. When we picked a potential for adoption, an associate was quickly with us.
We walked the dog in an open, round, fenced area. Toys were available to engage dogs in play.
We were allowed as much time as we needed to evaluate our potential adpotee.
A little while later, my husband and I decided he would fit into our household perfectly. After signing paperwork, and paying the fee, he was ours!! Already neutered and chipped.
Axel has been, and continues to be a joy and we are thankful he has decided to keep us.
Thank you for the service you provide for the Greater Lafayette area.

Knowledgeable staff. They seem to get new homes for pets rather quickly. That's says a lot for our community too. The shelter is super clean and I love the free roaming cat room. We were able to select a cat from there knowing he was social and we would have a great chance at him getting along with our pets at home. By this feature of the shelter, we were able to adopt an adult cat, who normally take a backseat to kittens.

Lovely staff, clean facility, a wonderful place to adopt from. Volunteers are always needed. They supply everything the pet needs. You supply a safe and loving environment. They also have things inside the building that you can do.

It was very shockingly bad experience today.

It was very shockingly bad experience today.
They denied cat to me and my daughter only because : "I did not provide right info about my vet."
When I asked my vet for explanation, I find out, that Almost Home Human Society even did not called them!
Very inhumane behavior with humans. Also, they very suspiciously and for long time explored our EU passport :)) Maybe they are afraid that we will take cat to EU? What if cat would be happy about that?
Horrible experience , they went even further, but I am not ready to share yet..

Daughter and me had a lot of tears. Tears of discrimination, and violation of our rights. Very deceiving and human abusive place.

Our two cats are from here, and they allowed us to get to know them at the shelter before taking them home. They are thorough in their applications to make sure all animals go to the proper home.

I volunteer here. Everybody here is wonderful. It is one of the more organized animal shelters in town, or just in general. People who work here really love the animals in shelter. Occasionally there will be a 'clean-up' event where every animal is free.

Almost Home Humane Society is great. I had to recently put my dog down, and they kindly walked me through the process ... making a difficult time a little less hard. We also got our cat from there. Great place and great people; a service to our town.

Though the exterior of the building looks like a prison, the environment created by the staff is friendly and inviting. The staff is dedicated and sincere despite their very difficult work and conditions. Good place; good purpose.

Met w/ the doc who spays guinea pigs on Monday. She said this shelter had pigs. LOTS of them. Called Almost Home on Friday (6.20.2019 around 4:30 pm) to confirm. Whoever answered was way beyond less than helpful, and the answer to every question was "I don't know," and she wouldn't transfer me to someone who COULD answer the question after I requested. Guess I'm on my way to PetsMart--sure would have been nice to get a shelter pet instead

We met the sweetest pup, Otis. I wanted so badly to take him home with me. He was so sweet and happened to have excellent kennel manners. Each pup was receiving a new holiday themed toy when we walked in, and several dogs showed them off with pride. It was a great place to visit and I appreciate so much that the kennel insisted that bonded dogs get adopted together.

My family adopted a cat. He was very well taken care of when we got him and the place is friendly clean and they show a true passion for the pets in their care. I wish I could donate a lot more to the cause.

I've donated food here and asked them to take in a kitten I found in the yard. They are very nice to the animals. They were also nice to me, but animal people are so much concerned with customer service.

This place was AMAZING. Before we adopted our cat we even got to talk to the foster mom who raised our cat from when she was a kitten! The cages were all clean and none of the cats were unhealthy by any means.
We will be back in a few weeks to go adopt a second cat!

They seem understaffed. Dog kennel was a bit unkempt. I was hoping to "foster" a dog for a week to see if it would fit in at our house, but we were told no. I think they should reconsider.

I wish these animals the best, wish more people would go here.

I've adopted both of my cats from the humane society and they are wonderful. The cats came with a free visit to the vet for the first check up and the fee was small for adoption less than 50 for one cat. Also the cats are well taken care of and loved that this place. They didn't have any fleas when I got them :)

We stopped in at Almost Home to bring in a stray cat that we find in a feral community that had not yet been fixed. While the woman that deals with the feral community "colony caretakers" and the receptionist were nice, there were others sitting behind the desk that just seemed to not care at all what was going on. I have had very hit-or-miss customer service here, though I admire what they do to help save animals and give them loving homes. We have adopted from here in the past and would do so again in the future.
