My dog ended up there 4 a few months after getting away & when I picked him up he was skin & bones. One good thing was that it was $150 to get him back & I only had $50 they went ahead& let me take him thank God.

It is IMPOSSIBLE to adopt a dog at this facility. I applied to adopt a dog a month ago and have yet to be updated about my application. I have called multiple times asking about the status of my application and the staff had no clue about the status. That is very absurd and animal abuse. These precious dogs could go to a very loving home, but they are too lazy to approve an application.

They do the best they can for an abundance of animals. Everyone seems to be there for the right reasons. It just may take a few minutes in line, on the phone, or until a spot opens on the calendar.

A great local resource! The animals are all well cared for and the shelter is very active in the community. They have space to get to know the animals before deciding on adoption, offering a good chance to play with them one on one. They also do a great job in their application process of making sure that people know what they are getting into in terms of the expense and effort that a pet requires.

PLEASE SPAY AND NEUTER!!!
If your looking for the perfect fur baby this is the place to find it. I recently adopted a senior dog and their rates are extremely reasonable.
I'm sure that they would love anyone that can foster as well.

Found this place to be unclean, smelly inside, and when you ask a question they seem to not know much. And when you put an application in for a particular dog, and someone else gets it, they could at least call an let you know that with out having to go there and ask them again an again if the dog is still there and available. Then find out he there but goes to another person. We will not come back. They seem disorganized. Just saying.

The lady that works at the front desk needs a lesson in social skills and customer service. Not only was she rude, but when I told her that one of the rabbits there appeared to have diarrhea she just brushed it off and said it was probably just the food, without relaying the message to anyone or even altering her diet. How unfortunate it must be to have a business that relies on donations and human kindness, and to have that working at the front desk scaring away all the nice people.

Luckily the woman with white hair that takes the rabbits to Petsmart made our experience worth it, she was so kind and caring, and the complete opposite of the front desk lady. We went home with Fanny, who has been through a lot but we adore her and she loves our other rabbits.

I do wish the staff would educate themselves on a proper rabbit diet because like most people, they think rabbits can have unlimited food pellets, when they re supposed to have unlimited hay and just have food pellets as a very small supplement to the hay. It makes me uncomfortable that a place that is home to so many animals has no knowledge of something so simple. After a month of trying to fix the damage this has done to my rabbit s digestive system, her bowels are thankfully finally returning to normal and she s no longer super bloated.

This place needs work. It was nearly unbearable to be in the dog kennel area due to the smell. In the cat area some of the cats had just enough room to lay down next to their litter box. I understand that this place is a rescue but the quality I saw here compared to other humane societies was not good.

We got our dogs microchipped during a free microchipping event they held. They gave us EZ Walk harnesses in exchange for the choker collars our dogs had and the harnesses worked much better than the chokers. The staff was amazing with my dogs and helpful and friendly to myself. It's amazing of them to offer the free microchipping event occasionally!

Very helpful in seeing if my kitties were there, then allowed me to go back and see the cats. Learned a few things while there as well. I see the workers love the animals and just want the best for them. Interesting to know there's a feral cat (potential barn cat) area.

Employees and volunteers are as helpful as they can be. There are often long lines when the parking lot is full - so do not get frustrated if you're there for 2 hours to adopt. Highly recommended.

Took 3 kittens there for adoption went back with 2adult cats was referred to some old lady out in the boondocks who had cats everywhere she said they were wrong to send me to her was an on going problem with that shelter animal control did nothing to resolve the problem so i took them to a farmer friend who welcomed them this was in the dead of winter two years ago would not consider this shelter to take in animals to it is a farce. Better to take them out to the farm were they are happier going after mice.

Adopted a kitten, and he has upper tract infection, which could transfer to other cat. I told the staff I have a cat at home and they hide the truth that the kitten is not healed and they give the kitten to me. I was in pet emergency 3:00 in the morning. I go back washed all the things, no sleep, no touch with me cat at home. This shelter is extremely irresponsible.

Horrible experience. All of the dogs were covered in their own poop. Crates were very dirty. Employees did not direct us or show any interest in the animals. Tried to show affection to cats and was yelled at. This place needs HELP.

i really wish the conditions in here were better and the staff was more attentive and watchful. i went in to see about adopting a dog and was just pointed at a kennel where i was free to just walk into and see any dog. Where this si fine with some i do not know the stories on all these dogs and it made me very nervous just being left free to roam around. i left without meeting any dogs as i was just uncomfortable approaching a dog i didn't know without the staff, and they were not attentive at all,

you guys are very unprofressional my wife called today at around 12:30 pm talked to someone that said they would hold this bunny (moomoo). i do not get off till 3:10p she spent time getting both boys ready before i got home we went out and bought everything we needed and a donation of 5 blankets as the person she spoke on the phone with stated you needed. We show up at about 4:30 pm after shopping for everything needed for you guys to tell my wife moomoo was adopted to offer no resolution went back to look at other bunnies despite the fact she was lied to. we found 2 bunnies we liked zagh and lili which we couldnt even put a hold on nor were we given info on when they would be ready all in all very disappointed with how you guys handle this process some of us have shifts to work that make us unable to put holds on animals. all in all very dissapointed with overall treatment and reception of this facility.

I just want to adopt them all!!

I just want to adopt them all!!

I have gotten 2/3 of my cats there. Most of the cats seem to have upper respiratory infections would could be contagious. Theres not much done to keep cross contamination from happening. (Mainly from visitors) I feel like this makes the healing process longer and .makes more cats sick.

Beyond that, they really keep it clean and are always nice.

Terrible place! I am not a person to write bad reviews, but this isn't the place to go if you are wanting a dog. I went there with my fiancee super excited to get our first pet as a couple. Went in and fell in love with a husky there. We were super excited and we filled out an adoption application. They said it take 48 hours to approve of the application. A little background is that I am an animal lover and my family members are vets. I myself worked at a vet clinic for almost 3 years. Both my fiancee and I were both raised with dogs all our lives and are more than capable of taking care of a pet. Our environment is great! We live in a dog friendly appartment with a dog park and 3 parks surrounding it! Our appartment has plenty of room and we already bought all the supplies to take care of our new family member and spoil her! Also we are getting a house with fenced in backyard this summer after our wedding! Not only that but we were adopting an older dog as well and still had all of this to provide for her. We filled out the application super excited and the women there even made it sound like a done deal. They didn't call after 48 hours so we called them and they rudely just said she is already adopted. On there Facebook page it shows of no one adopting her and one hour ago they posted that they have a husky for adoption. She was the only husky there! There was no reason for then to refuse an animal of the perfect home nor be so rude. Looking in the reviews I am not the only one! Don't waste your time trying to get a dog here!

Normally, I am a very easy going person, but the events that have taken place over the week have infuriated me. My roommate and I came to spend time with the animals on a random day and happened to fall in love with a cute puppy. We inquired about the puppy but it was still on stray hold. It would be released after 5 days and become adoptable. I came back with my own dog on the 5th day, a friday, to see if the dogs would get along, but I was told that the puppy wouldn't be available until tuesday, so I'd have to wait. The shelter is first come first serve. I called after I left on Friday to confirm everything and said I would be there Tuesday. Tuesday rolls around. I arrive 30 minutes before open with my dog so we can be first, only to be told that the puppy was adopted on saturday. I questioned how that could happen when I was told repeatedly by staff that I needed to wait until Tuesday. Apparently their staff messed up the intake papers and let the dog be adopted on Saturday. I did everything right, only to be slapped in the face and told nope, tough luck. It's upsetting. And because I don't want it to happen again, I guess I will need to find another puppy to live in our forever home elsewhere. It's not the dogs' fault by any means, but I just don't want to deal with the staff and their misinformation. What a heartbreaking day for my family.

My dog was taken there when I had to be taken to the hospital, I am diabetic and was very sick. I was released from the hospital the next day. when I went to pick up my dog they told me that they could not release her to me unless I agreed to have a chip put in to her. They told me that it was the law and they had a paper stating that.I disputed that and told him you cannot legally withhold my dog from me and that I would not put a chip in her, I went outside to get my case manager to come back in and she witnessed all of this, I went to call my brother who is a Lafayette Police officer, the man inside was extremely rude to me because I would not allow them to put a chip in her. When I was outside the lady came out waved me back inside, said that she had called the animal control and that they said it was okay to let it slip this time.... When I got home I looked up Indiana. Gov on animal laws, there is not one mention of chips being put into animals anywhere on that website. What the humane society is doing is straight up fraud!!

Looking to adopt a new cat after losing my old bud...

Looking to adopt a new cat after losing my old buddy in November. The staff was very helpful and the rules for browsing the cat room were easier than website information. Second step was an "interview" with a prospect cat in a cat visiting room. I was able to find a cat who interacted with me and adopt. Adopted cats must go to new home the same day so my new friend is exploring his new home. Almost Home is a bit tricky to find.

My dog esacped the house. I found her at this humane society. They had her 30 mins before we arrived. I had an issue with them charging me 40$ to pick her up. So I asked a bunch of questions. Mind you, losing your 13 yr old blind dog is stressful, so my tone was probably not so great. Instead of trying to be helpful the girl with long dark hair stood and played on her phone for 15 mins instead of getting my dog and the other "employee" slowly took all of my info and payment. Come to find out she called the animal control officers and claimed that I said someone stole my dog. They showed up and confronted me as of I commited a crime. Asking where I live and why there's a problem. Took an hour plus to get out of that place. Dark long haired woman likes to make up her own narratives and instigate confrontation. She didn't listen to anything I told her about the dog and thought we had adopted the dog from them. The woman "officer" with the animal control has no right to start a confrontation with anyone. This place is messed up. Stay away.
