Alley Theatre Review

Had a great time watching A Christmas Carol . Wonderful performance.

The plays are always funny. Not long but enough time to entertain for the evening great date night.

1/3 of the plays I've been to were phenomenal. The others were either good or mediocre.

Favorite spot to catch a show in Houston, and under the new Creative Director, Melrose, A Winter s Tale was fresh and new under a Texas sky. Looking forward to many more.

Murder on the Orient Express was one of the best shows I have seen at the Alley. The set was beautiful and very creative. The actors did an outstanding job. Highly recommend it!

This place is great. I do not always make it every year, but when I do is always a great show. Sitting is a little crammed, however, I have "enlarged" a few sizes myself. Visit this place alone or with company, you will enjoy.

We have been going there for years and have never seen a bad performance. The set, actors and actresses were awesome. Excited about what we will see next. The only issue I had was the seats, something about them made my back uncomfortable. I noticed a lot of people kept moving around in their seats as well.

Acting was great, venue was fantastic. Not a bad seat in the house. BUT my SO had surgery on her foot and though they have handicap facilities, they didn't handle our situation very well. There was a wheel chair ramp that we weren't told about until after the show when i specifically asked if there if was different way for her to get down to her seat (i purposely got us seats right next to the handicap area). They repsonded that there was no way for her to get down to her seat, so she hopped all the way down on one leg and banged her foot on the rail on the way down. Needless to say, I was pissed. I give 4 stars because we had an amazing time and we didn't let ruin our evening.

I loved this place. Great set design. Great lighting. Wonderful performances.

The Alley always feels like visiting old friends. The productions are always first rate. Well written, performed and just awesome to experience. Intermission is well thought out from a refreshment standpoint. Unlike some theaters, refreshments aren't allowed in the theater,but if ordered before the first act, they are waiting for you so no time wasted waiting in line.

so many times to the alley theatre good quality place good actors good plays. Plenty of parking.. I like going after church on Sundays it is not as crowded

My favorite place in all of Houston. The Alley brings out the best of the arts in this city, and is a treat for anyone who loves culture.

Great regional theater. 2 venues the smaller Neuhaus theater downstairs and the larger Hubbard theater upstairs. Strong in house set of actors and frequently host touring productions.

Great place for a show and I've been going here for over 30 years. Great seats and views of downtown. Many restaurants nearby.

Always a great experience. The Alley is world class. Easy parking, entry, and seating. Always exciting to see what the set looks like for each production.

As always, amazing performance by the tremendously talented cast. As a Dumas fan, the presentation kept me captivated from beginning to end.

Great place to watch a play. Went to see A Christmas Carol and it was a great experience. Every seat is a great seat. You can hear all dialog. One thing I'm not sure: it seems you can order a cocktail before hand and when intermission arrives, you just walk over to the bar and your drink is on the table with a slip of paper and your name. Honor system is in place here. I almost went and grabbed one thinking they were complimentary.

Love this place. One of the best theatre companies in the country.

I ve been to the play multiple times and loved it each time...perfection I must say!

Participated in the family day - was an amazing experience - especially the visit to the production facilities on good above parking garage. My kids are 35 and 33, and we all enjoyed it!

Love this theater and its so nice since its been remodeled. The theater size is perfect. Not to small, not to big so there are almost no bad seats in the room.

My daughter and I went to see A Christmas Carol. The decoations were beautiful and the play was fantastic!! The cast was incredible... I don't think I have the words to describe how great this play was. This will be a new tradition for my daughter and I.

The renovations are a marvelous mixture of the old and the new.

Thoroughly enjoyed Murder on the Orient Express. Seats were near the stage and the acoustics were excellent. The staff were helpful in assisting us to our seats. Will return again.

The Alley Theatre is a top notch theatre and they put on award winning plays. They have two stages and the main stage is typical and reasonably sized though small enough that there really are no bad seats in the house. The lower smaller theatre is more intimate and the first rows are practically on stage with the actors. I highly recommend making an evening of dinner downtown and a night here enjoying a show.

Great theatre. All the seats are good or excellent, no need to sit in the traditional "best" seats. I've seen several productions there over the last few years and they're always good, accessible and entertaining.

Superb staging, scenery and acting. We just saw The Three Musketeers, a bit of a farce. You may not love each and every play but overall this is the best theater in Houston. Buy a subscription!

Love this theater. Wonderful productions, not a bad seat in both theaters. Renovations included adding many restrooms and bar area. Preorder intermission drinks for quick service.

A great show for the family. The acting was superb. We laughed and cried. The theatre was a little chilly so go prepared.

I went to see A Christmas Carol via a friend's invite. So happy i went the acting was amazing. The effects were stunning. Im going to make it a tradition. The theater itself the seats are not comfotable at all. I noticed I wasnt the only one moving and shifting. i was looking for wifi and they didnt have any. Also before the show starts people were standing around and there are not enough seats or room. Hence the 4 stars, other than that the show was incredible. I totally encourage people to check out whats happening at the Alley. Tip get there early so parking isnt a hastle.

Every play we have attended at the Alley Theater has been excellent-sets, acting, production, ate all ex excellent.

Just saw A Christmas Carol at the Alley, and what a bizarre production. An over abundance of random ghosts throughout the whole show blurs the storyline and minimizes the message of the 3 ghosts that are actually supposed to be in the story. Scrooge's character isn't developed so that there's not much indication why he needs redemption. Too many special effects for no apparent reason than another ghostly dance break. Disappointing.

Fantastic! The play was simply amazing. The set, the actors, the sounds, great stuff! Picked up tickets at will-call and there was a little mix up but the staff helped figure it out and it was squared away easily! The facility was gorgeous, clean and in this case decorated with Christmas stuff so very exciting. Truly a pleasant night out! Can't wait to see more plays here.

a great venue parking is difficult allow plenty of time

I always worry when a play is advertised as a comedy. Some people think silliness is comedy and I don't. However, I was pleasantly surprised by The Carpenter playing at the Alley. It was a good comedy and an enjoyable performance. There were a couple of twists and turns, but that kept the audience engaged. Go and enjoy.

Up close and personal, you can really admire the art of theater here.

I saw my first play here. It was a cheeky mystery, but the overall experience was unlike any other! To see the actors on the stage just feet in front of you, to feel the voice of an actor screaming, yelling and laughing. It makes you feel like you're part of the experience. Cannot wait to go back.

II volunteer at the Alley and am very proud to be a part of their performances. I make theater a part of all my travels and have not found a better theater anywhere.

My family and I were very disappointed at the fact that foul language including taking God's name in vain during the first 25 minutes into the play "Murder on the Orient Express." We walked out due to this. I have seen other performances at The Alley Theater and usually make it a yearly event to see The Christmas Carol.

I am a beautiful person to be a great time . I will be a good day , but I think I am not sure what you think of it . the other hand . it was not a good time and effort you put it on the way to get the chance to see the full amount of the most important thing to be a little while ago . the only way to get to the top right now . the first one to the top of the world of the best of luck to you . you can also be able to get the best . I will be the best of all the time of the most of the most part of the most of the most of the most of the most of my life . I am a very good . I am going to be able to make a backpack for your doll .
