I'm basing this rating on a community theatre production, nothing more.
Having been in this show myself, I may be a bit more critical, but here goes.
First, the 4 principal performers were stellar. In my view, they were the entire show. With the support of a better than just good orchestra, their pure, spot on rich voices did more than justice to the beautiful score. Kudos also to the sound guy. A special recognition to the young, but rising star in Lancelot. What he may lack in acting skill he far makes up in his rich baritone voice. The supporting cast, although as a chorus did the job very well, gave the feel that I was watching more of a high school production in the casting.Although they all performed well and without error, the knights and ladies if the court, did not quite look the role. Had the casting( and the wigs) been better , visually this would have been above a community player performance and close to professional given that King Arthur,Guinevere, Lancelot , King Pellimore, and even, though brief,Mordred brought it home in a very transporting and believable way.

Great productions... as good as Broadway, some even better

This theater has come a long way from what it was when we first attended events here. They've replaced the seats with more comfortable ones, and they seem to have solved the terrible acoustical problems that plagued their productions badly enough that we stayed away instead of being frustrated.

Super Star (April 14) was out of this world!
And the Master Class (April 24) & Staged Concert LA BOHEME (April 27) were superb. BRAVO to the Conductor Father Alphonse Stephenson, Stage Director Ed Perretti, the first class opera performers and the Orchestra of St. Peter by the Sea.

We saw a tribute to Bennie Goodman's performance at Carnegie Hall. The performance music was inspiring and the MC and lead clarinetist made the show feel like he came to your house gave the history of the pieces and knocked them out of the park. Very cool show, very cool place.

I feel like this deserves 0 stars. My theater arts class and I went to go see Fahrenheit 451. The guy was narrating the whole time and there was no backdrop and nothing made sense. I didn't like it. It wasn't funny at all. It was a one man show, and made absolutely no sense to me or anyone else. I nearly fell asleep and everyone in my class said it was absolutely horrible

Saw A Chorus Line which is one of my favorites & they performed it without a flaw! Just like Broadway only closer & a little less expensive. Sat in the 6th row center & I couldn't ask for a better seat. This was my first visit to the Algonquin & it was very easy to find & park. If you can, go see it. They are performing till August 19th.

Play was terrific. Seats were uncomfortable. Management says new seats and people were moving around in their seats because of the play. Not true, I spoke to at least 7 people that said same as me, seats were in uncomfortable.

Undergoing major renovations in 1994 from a rundown movie theatre built in 1938 into a performing arts center, The Algonquin Arts theatre is a gem in the Jersey Shore producing high quality local shows all year round. Performances range from musicals, plays and concerts. AAT also have a massive educational aspect teaching children and even adults all year round.

Good

WOW! WOW! WOW! Every time I ve had the opportunity and pleasure to see a play at your theatre, I ve been extremely pleased in the production. When I went with a group to see My Fair Lady, I went home that evening and purchased the last two remaining seats for the next and final show the next night. Steel Magnolias, I also saw twice. My grandchildren, daughter-in-law and I enjoyed Annie together. Having just seen A Few Good Men this afternoon, I had to post my positive review. The actors and actress were amazing! I many times forgot that I wasn t seeing Tom Cruise on the stage. The goosebumps appeared on my arms several times during the intensity of the trial. Congratulations to the entire cast for a wonderful and extremely entertaining afternoon!! Thank you Marti Bookstein for introducing me to this Jewel of Manasquan!!

Took my kids 7+4 to the showing of the Velveteen Rabbit. I loved the players unique interpretation on a childhood classic and a beloved favorite nighttime story of both my myself and my kids. The theater is intimate and i can't imagine there is a bad seat in the house. We can't wait to see their next family performance. Big new fans here. Highly recommend for families with young kids. Very affordable. I wish we had pictures to post but we only took selfies. Trust me this place is a winner for your family.

First time at the Algonquin. Beautiful, intimate regional theater. Acoustics are good but noticed actors were wearing mics so maybe it was the sound system that was good.
A lot going on here. Will keep track of upcoming performances and come back. Not necessarily Broadway quality but prices are reasonable and no traveling to the city. And who knows, you might witness a future star in the making.
