This is how all theaters should be run. No cell phones, no talking, no questions. If you can, snag a balcony love-seat and enjoy a more romantic and secluded as well as more comfortable view of your film. They put great thought and work into the pre-film roll, for Dr Strange they had a 10 minute history of Dr. Strange in TV and Movies which gave newbies to the superhero a chance to catch up with some of the interpretations of the comics. I'm guessing most of their films are given this level of respect and I wish all theaters cared like this.

I love this theater. It old but that lends to the feel of watching movies there. If you're into horror check out their Terror Tuesdays. I love getting balcony seats and chilling in a nice recliner while haveing a drink.

Downtown movie theater is narrow, but considering you spend your time mostly in the seats, that's not a big deal. Don't sit in row 1 if you can help it, the view isn't great, but I was there for Master Pancake Theatre, so row 1 was actually a lot of fun.

This is a great place to visit in Austin. Very unique and Austin authentic. The only downside is that there are not enough seats or showings, but if you find a good show and you can get a seat, it will be the experience of a lifetime!

Master pancake was one of the funniest and most unique performances I have ever attended. The theater is lovely and the waiters and waitresses do an excellent job. The food is ok, probably what you'd expect from a movie theater. A lot of fried stuff

The original hardcore movie goers paradise, the Alamo Drafthouse has spawned its own franchise and numerous imitators. This is the Mecca of nerdy and cult film fandom. Old fashioned theatres, full bar, finger food, and collector's merchandise only available at the theatre.... It's definitely worth a visit. If you haven't time to see a film, drop in for a pint and grab a movie from their vending machine (DVD, BD, and/or USB drive).

Always a good place for dinner and a movie. Special events like the quote-alongs are fun to check out from time to time - check their calendar of upcoming events online because they change monthly.

I love the Alamo drafthouse and this location has excellent service and holds up the company policy very well. A lot of special events and screenings are held at this location which is why I go. The downside is that parking in downtown is extremely difficult and can be stressful even when you have given yourself plenty of time before your show (they also do not allow you to show up late). I would recommend to go to the other locations because parking is easy and free.

Came here during our first vacation to Austin. As a small-town girl, movies are a popular past time for me. My local friend highly recommended going to one of the Alamo theaters while we visited. This particular theater only has two auditoriums and you climb stairs to enter it. I didn't notice an elevator, but I presume they are required to have one.
The theater was strange to me with the "dinner and a show" set up, and, as one of only two customer groups in the theater, we felt obligated to order some of the moderately pricey (for a movie theater) food. It wasn't particularly great food, but it wasn't bad either. Our attendant was very nice and friendly. Ultimately, I think I prefer a traditional theater like AMC or Regal where you get snacks before you go inside for your movie.

Sometimes when I don't feel like cooking at home, I eat out. Sometimes when I eat out, I go to Alamo Drafthouse.

One of the things I love about Alamo Drafthouse now is that they take reserved seating; this means you can choose seats of your choice prior to the movie without having to deal with someone saving seats for their friends.

Food service is great as the servers are very attentive and make ordering easy. The food items are a little pricey but tasty. I still recommend getting the old fashion buttered popcorn though.

Before the movie starts they usually have commercials catered towards Austin or whatever theme they're hosting (they have quote-along movies). The commercials are quite hilarious and clever.

Advice: Reserve a few hours ahead of time, write down the reservation #, bring a jacket, and DON'T throw away your seating receipt (they use it to keep track of your food orders)!

Should go by The Quitz rather than The Rtiz meaning that it makes a practice of dropping a movie show time option if it believes it has insufficient sales. After arriving with two out-of-town guests a half hour before this advertised show time as they suggest given the movie house s threat that there will be no late seating after having paid $8 for downtown parking and standing outside in the summer heat 5 minutes before our 4 PM showtime it was simply removed from the marquee, after no one answered the door we knocked on.
I have never, after 60 years of movie viewing, heard of such a practice. But if you like wasting money and time hanging out with the homeless folk sleeping next to the front door entrance of the theatre, then by all means patronize The .Quitz .if not, my advice: Forget the Alamo !

I like that this one offers dim lights underneath the tables so you can read the menu (no chance of getting kicked out for using your cell phone as a light!). Decent food, decent service, and great movie selection. They got rid of brunch, though, on the same day they offered up The Blues Brothers as a brunch movie (they actually used "brunch" in the title), which is an epic fail.

The theater has two screens. There is reserved seating, and the food and drink is ordered after you sit down. Because of this I would recommend showing up at least 10 min early because it can be a little inconsiderate to ask the waiter questions and order while the room is dark and the previews or movie has started. With that said, they do have dim lights to use to look at the menu if you order during the movie. These dim lights don't affect the movie viewing. During the movie you write what you want using the paper and pen that is provided and prop the paper up and the eagle-eyed waiter comes and takes the paper and a few minutes later they return with your food. They do this without disturbing anyone.

Roughly, pints are $5-6. We got wings that were $11-12.

Awesome experience! We just watched Doctor Strange and had full service food and drinks. The service was fantastic and the food even better. You get one warning from staff before you're kicked out if someone complains you talk, text, or are rude during the movie. All movies theaters should be this great - a place for real movie lovers!

This is the best movie theatre experience out there. The Alamo chain is quite different than traditional theatres:
-you buy tickets online or at the theatre and can select your seats ahead of time. No need to show up super early to get a decent seat for a popular show.
-food and drinks are served during the movie. There are little bar-like tables in front of all the seats and a waiter takes your order just prior to the movie.
-there is no talking or any cellphone use whatsoever. They are dead serious about this and do kick people out

The food is pretty good here and they have rotating seasonal selection. Better than pub food, but nothing fancy enough that you feel bad about never really looking at what you're eating. Prices for tickets, food, and drinks are all very good - definitely cheaper than going to a movie and dinner separately.

Alamo also puts on fun special events like sing-alongs, throwback movies, and kid-oriented stuff in the summer.

The Ritz location is my favorite because it is closest to my house and to other attractions downtown. I just wish they had a better movie selection...there are just two screens and the films they play tend to be the blockbusters that I'm not too excited for.

Amazing theatre with great ambience. They are very strict regarding maintaining silence during a movie so if you are a cinema person like me, you will love this place.

Food is amazing and the system to place order is super efficient. Must try Chocolate Milk Shake here.

Since it is on the 6th street, parking might get difficult during weekends.

Speakers are good and overall movie watching experience is worth it.

I went to see the listed movie Bohemian Rhapsody. I went all the way there on the bus only to be told that the movie wasn't playing due to a private party. They didn't bother to post this information on their site. I wasted 2 hours of my day off and a bus ticket and the manager just stood there looking at me like "oh well." I will never set foot in Alamo Drafthouse again.

this location always has offbeat options that are fun to participate in, like movie parties and terror tuesdays. there are only two screens, so you won't have a ton of options at any given time, and the seats are old school, which is kind of fun after being pampered so much at other alamos. food is great, and the character of the building leaves a lasting impression.

I have been going to the Drafthouse since I moved to Austin in 2013 but have never taken the time to review them. I Saw once once upon a time in hollywood last night the best part was this theater was playing it in 35mm. It brought the prefect touch to the viewing experience. A lot of theaters these day are all digital so it's nice that the Drafthouse has the option to watch certain movies in that format. I hope the Drafthouse continues to off this kind of experience as long as there are still filmmakers who still shot in the format

I've typically gone to the Lakline location which I love. I tried out this location since it was showing an exclusive film. I order the same entree every time I go and the food here was honestly just too bland to my liking. Movie was good but overpriced garbage food.

I prefer the south lamar location, but some of the best events happen at the 6th street venue. With only two screens they really are able to focus on bringing the best films to the public. Plus it's a great location to catch a movie and then go out for drinks either before or after.

This was one of the best experiences I had in Austin. We were there for SXSWedu and watched a documentary whilst I ate a Krabby Patty. I wish I could have taken 10 home with me, because it was DELICIOUS!
