Always awesome! Makes sure to get the fried pickles!
Alamo is great in general and It s fun to see shows here because of the location. If the box seats are available treat yourself. Trust me.
This is a fantastic place to watch a movie on a nice afternoon with friends. The atmosphere is really great and I really enjoy having food and drinks with my friends while watching movies. Really great spot and location with fantastic ambience that just cannot be beat. Always looking forward to the next movie here so that I can enjoy spending time with my friends. Very interesting concept and I would recommend this to everyone.
Interesting thing about this theater is that they really focus on etiquette and insist that people act appropriately, which is a very refreshing experience given how often people speak during movies. Glad that this concept has reached Austin.
This Austin institution is great for a date night. The food is awesome with grest service
No parking, which sucks. The seats could be more comfortable. The service is good, but could be a bit faster. I do enjoy the no texting and talking policy though!
My favorite place to see a movie anywhere. Good beer, good food, great movies, decent price. Can't go wrong.
Great just like all other alamo drafthouses, finding parking can be hard since its downtown.
Went and saw Master Pancake and would recommend that to anyone!
It's the best place in town to catch a repertory screening. Heck, it's one of the best places to do that anywhere in the country.
Love the cuteness of the theatre here
They keep it fun with themes like Comedy style movie watching etc
Keep up the good work
Foods and drinks are pretty nice too
An excellent, friendly staff. They have gaps between the rows so that the staff can ask for and deliver food and drink orders. It is a bit distracting to have them kind of scurry in during the movie. Additionally, the need for more leisure designed seating is needed as other theaters have adopted
A must visit place for one of their specialty movie nights. We do the Elf "Quote-Along" every year. Interactive and fun! This place serves food and drinks and is located in the heart of 6th Street.
Classic theater with Alamo sensibilities. Great place to see classic films.
The Ritz is an older theater that reminds me of movies showcasing vaudevilike. I'm not sure how old it actually is, but it is a beautiful theater. As a person who is wider than most the seats are a bit small, but I can still get my ample posterior in. There are a lot of stairs to get to the theaters, but there is a tiny, slow elevator if stairs are your nemesis.
The food is typical of any Alamo Drafts House - delicious and subject to specials based on the movies and events presented. Service is a bit hit or miss, but once you get everything it is delicious.
I have a serious food allergy and at this Alamo I've never had any issue.
This is what the movie-going experience should be. No concerns about noisy audience members or people on their phones, they actually enforce the no talking and no cellphone rules. Great food as well.
Classic theater with modern upgrades, dinner service and great beer selection.
So cool!! We went to see the fifth element movie party. We were given cap guns and blue glow sticks (for the diva of course). One of the most fun movie experiences I've had. Partly because of the balcony seats. They're nice and private. Very comfortable. The food was tasty. Looking forward to future movie parties.
The balcony seating was well worth the extra price. Comfy reclining seats.
I love and miss this theatre especially for their opening nights and movie parties. That Taylor Swift one, though; SO FUN! And every time before opening night they staff on stage always goes the extra length to show their enthusiasm. The props at this location are always good. Austin has the best Alamo Drafthouses.
Best place to enjoy dinner and drinks while watching the movie, you pay the same price at a standard movie theater. Has reserved seating.
Intimate screen rooms, not as formal as Look cinemas if that makes sense. Good options for drinks and cocktails, solid food options. Screens are on the smaller size, so if you are looking for something that is more immersive you should go to one of the newer Alamo Drafthouse locations.
Proper art-house cinema (complete with the slightly dodgy smell), but the table service good and drink is a great addition, and very smoothly and professionally done.
And it's good food! And with a good selection of craft beers, you can't go wrong
First time at the theater. The seats are old and uncomfortable and food was only mediocre. The chicken tenders were over cooked and French fries under cooked. We wanted popcorn and the machine was broken. The soda was watered down swill and I will never go back to this location again. I wad to walk blocks from parking to the theater not enjoyable.
A movie with the option for food and beer. The customer service was great!
Caught Elysium and Terror Tuesday. This is my new favourite cinema becuase the shakes were awesome, the service was spot on. Maybe take a jacket as coming in out of the hot humid weather, the aircon can be slightly chilly (but not a bad thing). Check out their events as they are the best thing about this place.
Only two screens, but still has the same full menu and bar of any other Alamo location. This venue usually has some of the more interesting or artsy events, but shows regular movies the rest of the time.
Because it's in the middle of downtown, you'll likely need to use expensive parking or take a long walk to get here. If you're not looking for a specific "Ritz" event, you'll probably have an easier time going to the South Lamar location that has a ton of screens and a free parking garage.
The Alamo Drafthouse is the greatest theater chain in the country with lovingly crafted pre-shows designed for whatever experience you're about to see. Look for their special nights showing old movies. For example, seeing "Pieces" (1982) at this theater included a special introduction from theater staff, a passionate speech for an obscure film, really, and the packed theater made this the best theatrical experience you could imagine.
If you haven't seen Master Pancake, you're missing out on a true Austin original.
Food, beer, movies. Could this be any better of an idea? The movie ticket prices are very similar to a standard movie theatre. They have awesome events like quote a longs and movie premiers. I love this place!
Pretty awesome place. I had so much fun and the food is great.
Somewhat rundown, but who doesn't love the original?
Always enjoy Alamo Ritz. Master Pancake was hilarious. A great date night for us! Buffalo cauliflower was amazing. Yum!
This is my least favorite Alamo location. It was a great idea and for some shows it's fine, but I'd always prefer S. Lamar, Slaughter or The Village.
Movies with drinks. Quote-a-longs. Crap you've never heard of. Random flicks from the past to blow your mind.
I love this place!!! I am originally from Colorado so this is relatively new to me. It's so cool!I love the previews beforehand, usually pretty funny and always entertaining. The staff is ALWAYS nice and accommodating. The food is good, for what it is. And they have fresh cookies!!! They bake them while your watching your movie. So good!
It's small an intimate, and it's in a hip part of town. But for comfort I'd probably do the Lamar or Slaughter Lane locations of Alamo.
This is a lovely location. I was just in town for a conference, but if I ever come back I'll definitely visit the Alamo Ritz.
Good chicken and popcorn movies are always sharp looking lighting is perfect
Audio tends to be a bit treble heavy at least durring opening credits
Great small movie house cinema where you can also have food and drinks served.
Rockin good time any day of the week! Good food & drinks while you watch a show.
Great Master Pancake performance! The 3 comedians were hilarious and we'll rehearsed. Keeping the Alamo weird. One star off, the brussel sprouts and bacon pizza was overcooked and dry.
Parking is most inconvenient.
Parking on 6th Street is prohibited most days after 9 p.m.
If your movie is going to run past 9 p.m. find some other Street to park on and walk.
The lobby is tiny.
It was awesome especially for my first time. I will most definitely come back.i loved it!
The best movie theatre in Austin. Always good service
The Alamo Ritz is a great, downtown cinema with a couple of nice, intimate theaters. Not as much content as other Alamos, due to the limited number of screens, but great first-run and specialized content, and fantastic, attentive staff.
The Master Pancake shows here are the best! I always have fun when I come here.
Alamo drafthouse is such a great place for dinner and a movie. I love how they are strict about their no talking policy and there are no little kids allowed. At other movie theaters little kids crying and people being rude can really distract you from watching a movie. The food is pretty good but the prices are really high. Also parking can be really bad so make sure to get there at least 30-45 mins before your movie starts or else you'll have a tough time finding parking and you'll be sitting in the front row!
The Ritz is stupid...Awesome. The Scott Pilgrim vs the World movie party was the most completely awesome thing I have ever been to. No spoilers but Wallace is the one who's drunk!!
I stopped going to the Alamo a little over aq year ago.
The yblew it wit hthe reserved seating thing and I just never had a reason t ogo back.
I live in Round Rock and started going to the Flix Brewhouse.
Food was almost as good and the seating was twice as good with beer being about equal.
I just went to see the opurge at Almo Village and it was a utter disappointment.
Everything was hgher priced just to provide less for more .
Same dumpy seating (reserved,
Service was crappy to say the most ,
Food was not even close to years past.
Seemed like everything was more but you got less
Im really sorry to see a wonderful place like the Alamo lose what it was started as .
I can say I wont be back for at least another year and then most likely because someone else will buy the tickets .as they will not see any more of my money azs they are just run of the mill now .
Not worth going out of my way to attend
Get tickets early, reserved seats, great vibe, I haven't had bad food and I've tried pizza, sandwiches, apps, vegan, and beer. You can get in and out during the movie if you are willing to slip under the awesome tables. Arrive 30 minutes early to get awesome clips and fun. Look online for fun shows and some cool stuff like old movies and fun parties. Go here please, but don't steal my seat.
A little old and floors are sticky but nice staff and theater.
Alamo Drafthouse fits right in to the austin culture. Nice place to relax and watch a movie and also eat dinner or have drinks. You should also make a point to catch one of the documentaries or foreign films they show here.
Great little theatre if you can take the bus or bike to get there. All of the Drafthouse experience in a little two-theatre building right on 6th street.
A much better place to watch movies. Bar prices for beer and food. Good service given the limitations of serving at a movie.
We went and saw the room and it was so fun the best entertainment experience ever!!
We saw the Master Pancake of the movie Friday the 13th on Friday the 13th this year... this was our first Master Pancake experience and lets just say we can't wait to come back and do it again! It's an old theater which brings a lot of charm to the place, so don't expect the lighting and seating to be modern, no pull out trays for your food, no where to hang your purse and service was slow, notably due to the sold out performance, but our food eventually arrived about mid way through and we were able to finish our meal before the end the movie so it all worked out just fine. We arrived about 20 minutes before the start of the movie, but were seated in the back row, which meant they didn't take our order until about 5 min after the start of the movie. Hopefully they add more staff for sold out performances in the future, that would be my only concern. If not for this shortcoming I would easily give this experience 5 stars!
The Drafthouse is great. Excellent service and people are restricted from disrupting the movie through talking and texting.
Ever wondered why every Friday and Saturday night it's impossible to get tickets to the best movies out at Alamo? Great food and the best atmosphere to catch a movie in... try the prosciutto and goat cheese burger
A classic cinema was bar service while you watch the movie. A great experience.
Their staff is great. Very nice and energetic but the rooms are too small and there is no parking designated for this theater. You have to drive around until you find some parking or park at some super expensive parking lot. Not worth it. I would rather go to another Alamo Drafthouse.
Great location, great sevice, great events. Sucks menu.
Food and drinks are a tad bit high, but it's still a good solid spot for a flix.
A nice clean friendly theater with two screens. The chairs are comfortable but the screens are on the small side by today's standards.
Oddly the restroom was the only part of the building that didn't smell like urine. I'll go to a different Drafthouse next time.
Good service, venue comfortability could use some work.
Simply my favorite thing about Austin. They take movies seriously and fun even more seriously. Plus a menu of good food and a full bar. Special events are the best so check the website.
Fun place with an excellent staff. A guaranteed good time
I've been to Drafthouse many times but I love coming to the Ritz location because of the balcony seats. It seems like I can't get concert tickets in the city for less than $50 each so to be able to go experience a movie in a balcony seat for two people for the same price feels like a real value, especially when it's a special event. Well this isn't the original Alamo Drafthouse, the venue did start downtown Austin so I feel like there's some tie into our local history when I go here.
Great place to grab a bit to eat and catch an old flick or new. The annoying part is the parking and getting to the front door without catching some type of airborne virus. Alamo still rocking it though.
Brunch with the boys was absolutely the best. Highly recommend coming to see the wonderful Austin Drag Queens preform before the campy LGBT throwback film show.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Drafthouse. Special screenings, decent food, rolling roadshows, and beer in the theater. What's not to love?
We watched X Men Dark Phoenix and the movie was great. The Alamo Drafthouse facility was also enjoyable. My wife and I only had chips and queso from the menu which was really good, and each had a soda. The service was great.
A fun date night location to see a movie, have dinner, and get drinks.
Fantastic. Went here for the annual Lord of the Rings 12 hour feast. The presentation, food, and drinks were on point. If I could give more stars, I would.
Wanted to book tickets for my family to see WW on opening night. Was told my son and I would be "refused entry because we were male, but my wife and daughter would be allowed entry". I was also told that they would "have a bad-ass on the door" to prevent men from buying tickets and entering. I'm astonished that this is the type of behavior that a modern cinema resorts to in order to make a political statement. Well as of this moment, my family will be avoiding all Alamo Drafthouse screenings from here on in. My children need to understand that sexual discrimination in any form in unacceptable.
Nice little venue. Looks like it's just two screens, so it's a small, intimate affair.
The smallest of the Alamo Drafthouses in town, but a true Austin experience. Perfect for a date night or gathering with your friends. Definitely recommend a Master Pancake show!
Another great theater. The Master Pancakes they do here are crazy funny.
The Alamo is the best place to see movies in Austin! Check out the showings of The Rocky Horror Picture Show at the Village location on Anderson. Always a good time!
This place was awesome! You sit in an assigned seat and place orders for delicious food and awesome alcohol on paper with pen. The waiters come by virtually unseen and fulfill your order. I'm not kidding when I say I didn't even see them bring my stuff one time! I just magically had water and new beers. GET TICKETS EARLY. The theaters are small (there's only 2) and they fill up fast.
