All their events are awesome! I highly recommend going to Master Pancake Theater and their movie quote-alongs. We went to the Anchorman quote-along and they gave everyone mustaches and jazz flutes.

Historic dine and watch theater with a semi-sophisticated food and drink menu. If you're visiting Austin and going to scope out one of the ADH theaters, make it the original.
What can I say, Alamo is a necessary evil. The food has gotten way more expensive and uppity over the years, which is fine, but I'm getting tired of them trying to manage their guests. I liked the funny no talking or texting shorts before the movies started, but now they scold us like children with the no talking, no texting, no arriving late...it is the best place by far of its kind, however.
Great movie, pizza was good, but the smell in the place reeked of 6th street. Plus they had couple people sneaking in as ticket control was lax. Don't know if braving dirty 6 was worth it..
Love seeing a movie at the Ritz. The small theater is intimate, the location could be better what with the homeless people harassing movie goers in and out but that not Alamo Drafthouse s problem. Servers have always been pretty good. Movie parties have always been a favorite of mine to go to at this location!
The fact that it calls itself a draft house yet the best they can do is charge $6.50 for a can of one of the four beers in their selection. Is just a little misleading
Went in for one of their Master Pancake shows: the movie was Forrest Gump, and it was hilarious!
I also had the Fish & Chips while I was there, and it was really good! The service was quick and quiet and didn't interfere with the show. Highly recommended experience!
I enjoy the experience, the environment and the friendly staff. I would reccomend this as something to do with Family and Friends. It really is a unique experience in movie watching.
The same quality you'd expect in any Alamo experience, except for the old bartop seating that make it hard to navigate around seats (really appreciate the upgraded small tables at the other locations).
The one and only place to see a movie in Austin. Seriously. The other drafthouses are amazing, but this one has the old, gritty feel of downtown Austin and the way that a movie should be. Food is delicious, drinks are strong and good and the movies are, as always, fantastic. I certainly love when people aren't allowed to talk. Done and done.
Woman only movies, you sexist hypocrites, if another cinema was discriminating against women or blacks you lot would be crying at the top of your feminist lungs for change. I hope that wonder woman in your cinema is a flop and costs you in more ways then one.
The Alamo Drafthouse is my favorite place to go view movies, from current movies to older ones, to Master Pancake, a show where they take movies and make fun of it in a way thats even better than MST3k
Alamo Ritz is a must go place of you're vacationing here. They run films you've never seen and will probably never see again. They also have parties themed around movies and events and giveaways
The Ritz offers unique showings of classic movies and more recent films. It's home to Master Pancake Theater one of the most amazing experiences in Austin cinema and comedy. If you are in town and want a great laugh from a truly Austin Original place make sure to check these guys out.
Well, sort of lost its funkiness what with all the remodeling of this small shopping area. Condos on top and eating joints and shopping on ground floors. But this Alamo Drafthouse was used as the anchor for the remodel. Better get reservations at night. Can be crowded to see a movie. But generally every seat has a good view. Get a bear or your favorite drink and a snack. Don't over do the food order. Ruins the movie.
Always a great time at Alamo Drafthouse - Ritz. The Master Pancake Shows they have, as well as the movie parties are something everyone must attend at least once. Alamo has found a way to change the way you view a favorite film for the better. I have found myself scheduling Austin weekend vacations around what Alamo Drafthouse - Ritz is showing. They are that good and fun.
This is such a cool old theater and location, perfect for an Alamo Drafthouse. I love that this location plays even more indie/weird/out there movies than the others. Parking can be a hassle cause it's downtown Austin, but I love that Alamo bought the old Ritz and returned it to its original purpose.
Really cozy atmosphere. Sometimes the theater itself has really good deals going on so it's worth checking out the app for. One of my favorite locations because it's downtown.
The Ritz is the best of the Drafthouses I've been to! It's easy to get to by bus, especially from the UT campus and the staff is awesome and hilarious. It's pretty small, so get there early, but it's still excellent.
I usually love Alamo Drafthouse, but if you're in theater 1, be aware of CLOSE quarters seating with a shared bar for food. Other Alamos have leather recliners with individual tables for food & drink but theater 1 at this particular Alamo is comparatively uncomfortable.
Quentin Tarantino calls it the best movie theater in the world for a reason. They serve food and alcoholic beverages inside, while you enjoying a movie. Must try
Parking is tough and the theaters are upstairs. The theatre is small, but I liked it. Alamo's are consistently good. Service is awesome And did and drink are good too.
Good food and service. The movie sound in the theater was a little loud, especially since it was Godzilla and friends roaring a lot, but that's a better problem to have than it being too quiet.
The smallest Alamo Drafthouse I've been to, this one shares the charm and feel of its larger siblings. They have a great setup for food and drink during movies, wonderful atmosphere, and a great attitude about movies in general. They have a no-nonsense attitude about texting and noise disruptions, and will readily toss out offenders. I might not choose to go there for a big first-run movie where I want to catch every second, as paying attention to food and ordering and such happens during the movie, but in general I'm happy as could be at the theater.
Love love love love the Drafthouse!!! If I am dragged to any other theater I feel like I am cheating on them (so sorry), but seriously they have the best service and the funnest events!!!
Great place I come here all the time for the Master Pancake Show. Nice and retro vibe to it. Took 1 star away because the seats are very old and can be uncomfortable.
I don't think I can ever go back to normal theatres (looking at you, Regal) after going to the Alamo Drafthouses here in Austin. The Ritz is the 6th Street culmination of Alamo. Only two theatres, but the food is always good and the events are great. Highly recommend a Master Pancake show here!
I love this theater. It's all the greatness of the Alamo Drafthouse. If you time it right, you can be in your own quiet little movie world on Friday night and then step outside straight into the madness of 6th Street. Makes for a fun exit!
If you've never been come here. Great film experience: get served food & alcohol as you watch the movie; also no awful commercials while you wait...they are usually funny but always relevant and sometimes obscure clips related to what you are about to watch. Pretty good food for a movie (way above and beyond a typical chain). And drinks too! I tend to get a milkshake...note not just about this location but alamo drafthouse in general
It's the Alamo Drafthouse! Seriously, it's awesome. They play really cool commercials/previews before the movies and have nonchalant ways of ratting out annoying people. We recently saw one of my favorites there (Monster Squad) and it was great. Where else could I see that on a big screen? Food prices aren't super ridiculous but are just a tad pricey. Seats are comfortable. Definitely recommend!
Small Alamo Drafthouse theatre with only 2 screens, one with 69 seats and other one with 172 seats and a reserve-only balcony. A full bar and menu are great for their special events like Sing-a-longs, Weird Wednesdays, Music Mondays. The best theatre to start off a night out downtown. It's right in the thick of East 6th St.
I knew they had a "no talking" policy, but I didn't realize how seriously they took it. I have a mild form of narcolepsy and sometimes have trouble staying awake in dark places (movie/live theaters). My husband knows that this is embarrassing for me, so he gently nudges me and quietly tells me "wake up". Tonight we drove about 3 hours to see " Hateful Eight" in 70 mm. I was exhausted from the drive and my husband had to " wake me up" twice at the beginning of the movie. About 45 minutes after the last time he said anything to me, someone who worked at the theater came by and told him they had complaints about him talking, and we would have leave if he contued. After that neither of us felt we could reactto the movie at all. Our experience was RUINED. We will never come to this theatre again!
Really small compared to the other theatres (2 theatres). Saw the Nicolas Cage-a-thon was pretty solid. As always love the Alamo; wide variety of meals and snack as well as alcoholic beverages. Other than the waiter slamming my beer on the table solid location to visit.
I went here for a film that premiered during SXSW. The theater is laid back and very relaxing compared to the bustling and sometimes rowdy 6th street on the outside.
the venue is so beautiful and historic...entering and leaving you get to experience the amazing 6th street and you really feel a part of the city. the staff is extremely friendly and the vibe is funky and fun!
Old Theater in the middle of Dirty 6th. We went on a Sunday, to watch the Pancake Show. The place looks old and the chairs are a little bit sticky but the place is big. There is a good amount of space between each other and there are waiter to serve you which is very nice.
