The recent performance of Annie at ASF was superb, on par or above that staged in New York or elsewhere. The actors, the direction and production, the music, the venue and the personnel there were just first-class in every way.

A stellar performance by the cast together and individually!

The theater-in-the-round concept was awesome.

So appreciated the set and costumes - great 80 s detail!

Big NO-N0: About 30 minutes into the production the staff seated 6-8 late-comers in the 3rd row! It was a HUGE distraction to ASF-1st timers-from Birmingham who were seated directly to our left. I cannot fathom how distracting it might have been to the actors.

These Season-Subscribers are looking forward to September. Thanks for a great evening!

A jewel of Montgomery! It is a must stop if you are visiting for any length of time. They also host summer camps for the kiddos that gives them a chance to be in the spotlight and taste theater life. They host other events throughout the year like the Christmas Tree Lighting. They are other events that happen on their lawn too from a Montgomery Ballet preformance to the Montgomery Symphony Orchestra's Broadway Under the Stars. Even when there's nothing going on they have an herb garden often open for visitors to view and available for weddings. It's grounds are great for Wedding, Engagement, Prom, Graduation, and Senior photos as well as for photographers and artists as subjects for their artwork. It comprises only a part of Winton Blount Cultural Park which includes the free Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts and the Dog Park. Come by and check it out!

We went there to see a production of Sound of Music. The building is lovely. It was clean and the staff were very helpful. And it was decorated for Christmas as well. A definite asset for the city if Montgomery.

My friends and I have had many opportunities to see plays in both the Festival and Octagon Theaters. Both have comfy seats, just not much leg room. There aren t really any bad seats in either. There is ADA accessibility throughout. The restrooms are ample and kept clean. There are beverage/snack bars available, and a gift shop. The grounds around the theatre are well kept and a joy to ride through.

Outstanding performance of The Sound of Music. I had never seen it - live or recorded - and am happy for my first experience of it to be at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival. Although this was not my first visit, it was my daughter's, and it will not be the last for either of us!

The Alabama Shakespeare festival is wonderful, but the booking staff for school trips is under new management. The reservation we made were "lost" we when got there. We were thr last to be seated, ans we were not given priority seating for having registered early as we had been given for years under new management. The shows are amazing, but the management needs a lesson in organization and manners

Every Montgomery man, woman, son & daughter should...

Every Montgomery man, woman, son & daughter should take pride in the not-so-widely-known fact it is our fair city (ahem) our Capital of Dreams who has graciously hosted as the permanent home of the Shakespeare Festival since it s move in 1985 to Montgomery from Anniston where first founded in 1972 and despite several doubtful skeptics, is where it grew to garner critical acclaim though sadly lacked financial support necessary to keep it afloat. It is with much thanks to Mr. & Mrs. Winton Blount and their generosity gift of creating what in 1985 valued at $21.5-million performing-arts complex set on 250-acres of landscaped park open to the public, the Winton M. Blount Cultural Park. The Carolyn Blount Theatre stands grandly though looks nestled neatly into the rolling hills of this lovely park yet still seats 792 for the main Festival Stage & seats an additional 225 in the secondary Octagon Theatre. Most importantly it is because of this outstanding gift of culture & community that has made Montgomery the proud & picturesque third largest Shakespearean theatre in the world today.
