Malpensa airport is better than expected.. It s roomy. Huge actually! Quiet, clean, organized and easy. The tax free booth are not that crowded and so many booth so its faster to do all the tax-free business with them. Its direct and uncomplicated unlike other airports that you have to fall in line many times for the same transactions. In Malpensa, after showing your tax free stub, they assess and stamped pay you right there. Surprisingly easy as that. They have variety of restaurants, bars and cafes. Wide range of Duty Free Shops and Lounges for easy travel. The only thing You want to be careful with is since the airport is huge.. it will be a long walk from immigration to your gate. I doubt if three hours is enough from check in to the gate. Allow extra time to do everything. Anyways the airport has everything. So go to the airport early and if you have extra time.. you can go to lounges or any bar or restaurant inside the airport to relax. Have a safe and stress free travels. Ask me if you have more questions.

Malpensa is by far the worst airport we have ever encountered! It doesn t even deserve half a star!!! Unfriendly service, hours of waiting at car hire and no place to sit, disorganised, chaotic. Will never ever return, shocking, for families a total nightmare and frustrating beyond belief.

Uncomfortable environment in Terminal 1. Low Duty Free area after passport control. Absence of shopping area in boarding areas B26-B32. Total disappointment for a large-scale airport. Milan Linate far exceeds Marpensa

MXP T2 was unable to handle all departing easyJet ...

MXP T2 was unable to handle all departing easyJet flights on New Year's night. The queue for gates / security check was over 100 metres long and took us 35 mins instead of the promised 15 mins. The security check itself was very slow (10 mins) as the staff first mentioned that only laptop computers had to be removed and placed on the tray while tablets were OK, but on the actual check I was asked to remove all iPad devices from the bags.
At the passport check for non-Schengen flights before Gate E24, there was only one border guard who took 10 mins to interrogate a non-EU citizen with visa problems - there was no dedicated EU/EEC passport check. As a result, it took us 1h 15mins altogether after bag drop to finally reach our gate without any extra stops on the way. The border guard initially refused us entry into the gate area claiming that the boarding had already finished. After repeated pleading, he did rise from his seat and went round his booth to ask the gate staff right behind him if we would still be allowed to board, which we were. The whole experience was unnerving even though we arrived at the airport 1h 30 mins before our flight.

Very bad !!! absolute slowness in checks. safety, assembly and impossibility of maintaining a safe distance ....

while I can't answer your answer
I add that the days of my flight have created huge files. Without safety distancing, without any airport security officer intervening to solve the problem, in fact the staff assigned to radiographic control and the physical chk of the passengers have also allowed themselves to stop. on several occasions to have some great chats, oblivious to the chaos that was being created ...

Mxp is an international airport but it is managed as in a small provincial airport

PESSIMO CUSTOMER SERVICE!

PESSIMO CUSTOMER SERVICE!
I called 3 times, and every time I get to talk to an operator they pick up the phone and place it quietly on the desk. I hear people talking and there I am screaming "ready!". I understood that it is the first of August and the desire to work is zero, but there are people who need you! NOT thanks (and by the way, a star is only because it is mandatory)

And would this be an international hub?
Dirty bathrooms, non-existent water fountains (of course, if you want to pay more than 2 half a liter of water ...), no socket to charge mobile phones or anything (explain to him that we are in 2016 ...), wifi free unusable (explain to him that we are always in 2016 ...), paid luggage cart, boarding area B4-7 very few seats to wait for boarding. One of the worst European hubs, if you play it with Fiumicino, but I wouldn't boast about it for them

The airport is pretty big, especially Terminal 1 from where international flights depart. This means a rather tedious walk from the security to the gate. At least, there are some very nice shops after security, so that one can buy some fancy food to bring back.

Arrivals have installed a beautiful ZTC (controlled traffic zone) and if you stay in the area you arrive with the mcchina for more than 10 minutes, you don't pay the time like in all the airports of the world, but you pay a fine of 80 euros. It happened to me because of intense traffic to stay in 12 minutes and I got a fine. Now you are collecting millions of euros thanks to these fines, but one day you will have to pay them back with interest, damn you. When the consumer associations decide to sue you, the competent bodies will charge you for the crime you will pay dearly.

Fortunately I never had to use this airport personally, just for work. Accompanying almost every week with older foreign tourists buses, used to a more advanced level of civilization, when you stop in the middle of the starting zone road to the four winds, with cars that touch you when you unload your luggage they look at you like saying but what do these do . all safe in short .... To remember among other things everything in 10 min otherwise a fine ticket arrives. Arrivals always late never get the bags to the tapes.

I don't usually review airports, especially when I'm traveling solo. It's kinda sad, in a way, leaving a loved one behind, my sister, even if it is only to go see my kids in Israel. She had other plans, so, so be it. The airport is cool and well kept, but could be a bit confusing, especially if you're not expecting to be taken to an alternate terminal to take an international flight. Anyhow, it was yet another interesting experience beside the million and one others one can have in Italy.

2 thousand people queuing at the checkpoints and 3 functional gates, I don't think it's necessary to add anything else! Thanks for making me miss the flight, last time at Malpensa. Assume instead of collecting and that's it! Shame!

1) There were only seats for about 50-60 pax at the waiting gate (B59) when there were about easily 150 pax boarding the flight. There was so much empty space around to accommodate many more seats for the comfort of departing passengers but many had to sit on the floor while waiting to board the plane.
2) the immigration control is located far beyond the shops and eateries, so one cannot eat or shop at ease since the queue is at the immigration control is out of sight. It would have been better to the place the immigration clearance right after the security checks.

A star just because I can't put 0.

A star just because I can't put 0.
Flight landed at 2:40 from Fuerteventura.
As you can see from the picture there is no flight arrived before this.
First person left with a bag at 3:33 am
Waiting for more than 50 minutes for one piece of luggage at an international airport, when it is the only flight that arrived 2 hours from now, seems to be a total disorganization.
I believe that Malpensa is to be considered one of the worst European airports from this point of view.

Great and welcoming Environment for travelers. Especially now during the Covid-19 Pandemic, distancing and preventing measures are taken seriously at the airport from your arrival to departure.
I always feel welcome every time I arrive.
Availability of secured and numerous parking areas for free and for a fee

I arrived by train from Milano Centrale. Trenord operated out of Centrale. You buy tickets in the Trenitalia office far right hand side green sign line. Your europass is not an option you'll need 13.00 euro to take this ride. Upon arrival I found it wasn't hard to navigate the airport itself and it is pretty clean for the amount of traffic. I'm almost 24 hours early for my flight so I am not able to check in. Employees do not seem overly joyful but they at least point you in the right direction. Lots of security fully armed and roaming precariously. The bathrooms are free and there are a lot of places to charge your phone. The airport closes at midnight but an employee stated that the middle doors are open. I have no idea where these doors are but....I'm guessing it's TRUE. The bathrooms were very clean. There are no comfortable lounge areas. All lounges are past security. They do have automated sleep pods. These gems will cost you 9 euro an hour. They appear to look clean from the outside but they have no private bathroom or shower that I know of. I vote to hold out until you just cant stand it. Great idea though! Oh there are only 4 or 5 and they are in the corner of the airport near gates 1-3 next to the bathrooms. I read online they are sound proof. I'll add info if I give it a try! Over all the area is not bad. Brioche Cafe, prices are high. Staff is angry. Venture at your own cost.

A huge, beautiful and tidy terminal with 2 terminals, many car rental companies, including the car park outside, very close to the flight, making it easy for passengers and saving precious time when renting cars. I gave four stars because it seems that there is not enough manpower to take care of more things at the airport. The first and the second main elevator did not work and caused a lot of queues and major delays, all in all a good airport.

It was difficult to receive help. One agent deliberately left (said he would be right back) but waited until the gate had closed knowing we needed to be on that plane. He was not only rude to me but also this man from Ireland. He refused to sell me a ticket. He refused to honor the agreement KLM had placed in the system. What a bad impression the experience left!

Worst airport experience ever. We stayed the night in the terminal because we returned our rented car the night before our flight out. People at the few cafes or restaurants were very unfriendly and almost everything was closing at 22. The next morning check-in started less than two hours before departure time (we were told they would open 3 hours before departure) and there were very unfriendly people at the security. No stores, cafes or kiosks open at the gates in the morning and the two vending machines did not work at all.

Small and poorly organized. Untreated structure. The control of people and hand luggage was scandalous. They have made anti-drugs checks to my mother, who is almost sixty years old, while to me that you can be more suspicious they have not even made a slight check. Once arrived at the gate the queue was very long and continued in the corridor, creating a lot of chaos.
The airport is very small compared to the people it must contain.
They are well organized at the level of parking by shuttlel bus.

Decent service. The vat refund service continues to be a bit of a pain - you don't need to get the stamp @ customs for Italian invoices, you go directly to the tax refund. It would have been great if they made this now obvious, to avoid queuing unnecessarily.

Airport very large but not dispersive, beautiful, well organized, functional, modern and efficient. A real Italian pride. Among the best I've seen in Europe. The airport is structured in a fairly unadulterated way: once you enter the upper floor of Terminal 1, you immediately find the check-in counters, the security checks are well marked and easily accessible (fairly flowing, but obviously depends on the period) can access the vast commercial area and boarding (gate). There are many shops, most not just for all budgets, there are in fact several brands of Italian and international fashion. Basically they have created a small Via Montenapoleone, for those who want to continue shopping in the capital of fashion before taking the flight that will take her home. As for the choice of options for eating is quite varied, and the duty free are of high quality and well supplied. The services are very clean and well marked. Also to note the presence of large spaces to sit near the gates. The staff in general is kind and patient, quick to perform all the check-in operations, security check and boarding. Milan Malpensa Airport can be easily reached from the center of Milan by the Malpensa Express train from Cadorna, Milano Centrale and Milano Porta Garibaldi stations. The Malpensa Express train stops at Malpensa Airport Terminal 1 and Malpensa Airport Terminal 2. In just 30/35 minutes you arrive in the heart of the Lombard capital. Alternatively, you can take the Malpensa Shuttle buses, both at Terminal 1 and at Terminal 2. The bus connects the airport to Milan central station.

- Extremely long unloading and transshipment operations from aircraft and overloaded buses.
- The ZTC everywhere, elsewhere in Europe, is paid for over 10 minutes. At Malpensa instead the fine is triggered!
- Neither monitors nor audio alerts work on the train that connects Milano Centrale to Terminal T1.

PS: I have an average of 10-20 flights per year to Hamburg and Vienna.

Terminal 1 is amazing and very organized .

Terminal 1 is amazing and very organized .
The staff is helpful as well .
Tax free are tow companies , so check before you stay at the line .
1- first take your boarding pass at check in .
2- check with tax free company.
3- stamp your receipt .
4- ask for credits not cash ( it's more money )
Then go back to check your bags
Have a safe flight .
