We spent a few hours here walking through so many interesting and wonderful creative works. The art is fun and inspiring, the stories of the artists absolutely captivating. Great for a date or a family, although some works might be a bit mature for children. The museum shop has a wonderful assortment of interesting things as well, plenty of art at an affordable price as well as little kitschy items, a neat place to find very unique gifts.

One of my favorite museums in Baltimore. The exhibits are always thought provoking and beautiful. It seems they rotate exhibits on a regular basis which makes it a perfect museum to go to a few times a year. The gift shop is wonderful but I do wish they had a book curating the exhibits. They have a wide selection of books- but I would have loved to take part of the museum exhibit home with me.

Spent an afternoon here and it was great. So many interesting installations and pieces. The outdoor sculptures would best be seen in nice weather but I would easily go back despite any rain or cold.

Can't think of how to describe this unusual small museum and its equally unusual gift shop, but it's well worth a visit, and I've included a couple of pics. Note that there are exhibits in more than the main building and that there are some items that will appeal to kids.

One of the coolest spots in Baltimore. Interesting, beautiful and unique. Art work is all by self taught nonprofessional artists. They have interesting back stories like they were blind or just fanatic about making art. They offer free workshops for kids on weekends, check the website for details. Restaurant on site.

So powerful! Exhibit on parenting was an emotional roller coaster. I laughed at times, winced at others, and was moved entirely by the thoughtful creativity assembled herein. Well worth the trip!

This is a stunning, diverse, and well rounded museum featuring unexpected and unrecognized art! A great place to bring out of town friends, and truly a destination for visitors! The gift shop and restaurant are just as quirky and round out the whole experience!

You ll see something here that will make you feel something. Part of the museum is open to the public for free. In an abandoned warehouse in Baltimore, there is a giant balloon dragon made by a blind artist. You walk in, alone. There is no one there to greet you. How many people have stood alone with that giant, poppable beast, and regarded its beauty, and let it be?

One of the coolest museums I've ever been in. All sorts of amazing art and interesting stories/artists to go along with them. There are multiple buildings, each packed with art (some restrooms even have pieces scattered on the walls), all of which can easily make for four or five hours of entertainment. There's a great shop attached as well, which sells merchandise for the museum and all sorts of amazing thrift-store knickknacks. I would come back to Baltimore just for this museum!

Coolest museum I've ever been! It's not your regular art museum! They have colourful paintings and they have embroidery art, they have lots of sculpture, 3 dimensional art made from all sorts of materials! I love the stories behind all artwork here! Really vulnerable stuff. They have the coolest stuff in the store as well. I really love this museum.

Cool and funky musuem that features work that both defines and blurs the line between crafters and artists. Modern works that make you think and qustion without making you wonder why they are worthy of being there.

One of the best museums I've been to in Baltimore. Quirky and local with new and exciting exhibits. Great location and great fun with a group, couple, or solo. Visit the gift shop and check out the Flix on the Hill program (free outdoor screenings of movies in the summer)!

Definately check out the gift shop. It's like a separate museum of its own. There was a lot of cool stuff in there. Sixteen bucks is kinda steep given the number of free museums of a higher caliber nearby. We went near closing time where the entrance fee is donation based. I would recommend doing that.

You never really know what you'll find here, and price is reasonable (plus there's a student discount!). Overall it's just a really fun place to wander around, and you could spend just as much time exploring the gift store as you do the actual museum.

I absolutely love this museum. It's the most lively, colorful, interesting place and I could spend hours upon hours roaming this property. Also went for a special craft market and found some excellent gifts. Parking is limited so keep that in mind when you plan your visit!

A very eclectic museum. One of the things that I found the most interesting was that with each exhibit they have a panel describing the artist to give you a context for the work. It's relatively small, but has good details an information to read. You could zoom through here and see everything in an hour, but plan 2-4 if you intend to pause and digest the works.

I would tell you if you are only going to see one museum in Baltimore, make it this one. The exhibits are constantly changing, I've been going for years and there is always something new. Especially if you like Visionary and surreal art. Also the restaurant is worth checking out as well, it's not the typical "catch the tourist while they're hungry with overpriced cafeteria food" affair. It stands on it's own as a great place for good and drink. This place is a "must see" in Baltimore.

One of my favorite places on Earth. Permanent collection alone is worth the admission, and the rotating exhibits never disappoint. Do not miss the fabulous gift store, Sideshow! Stock up on gifts for the whole year. And if it's open, the restaurant, Encantada serves the best in modern American cuisine. Parking is in the back. Pay at machine... when they work...

WOW! This museum is so very very cool. So glad I found out about it. Walking distance from Inner Harbor, Federal Hill, Science Center - well - lots of stuff.
This is a museum that will make your head THINK - you aren't just going to look, you are going to THINK about who made the art, why it exists, could YOU be an artist yourself.
It is not cheap (what is these days) but - - if you are going to pay a pretty penny, it might as well be here.

NOTE: they DO NOT HAVE a penny squishing machine, but maybe they will consider one!

Exhibits here are very unique and interesting and many of the artists came from nontraditional backgrounds. The staff is super cool and friendly here as well, which led to a very pleasant experience.

This review is for the upstairs restaurant, not the museum.

Amazing! Food. So good you _must_ try the grilled cheese sandwich. It will change your life. Excellent cocktail selection. Myriad local beers on tap. My favorite place to bring out-of-towners to eat.

Beware: the (utterly amazing) grilled cheese sandwich is only available for adults on the lunch menu. If you come for dinner, you must bring a child. Or perhaps they will allow adults to order off the children's menu? Whatever it takes, seriously. Get the grilled cheese.
