It s really nice place, highly recommended PARTICU...
It s really nice place, highly recommended PARTICULARLY during sunset. Not free to enter ( 20) but it is free for all European students.

This is a super interesting place! The historical aspect of it was amazing. It was a shame that we didn't have an audio guide. We used and app called Rick Steves Audio Europe. It is free and takes you through step by step giving interesting information. We visited the museum after which was also good.
Amazing view.
So many good stories about Ancient Greek history. Splendid place.
Kids love it!
Stunning architecture from Roman times , it's on top of the hill right in the middle of Athens , so you can see 360 panoramic view of City, the ruins itself are giant and give you clear impression of Roman empires greatness, they are made of marble which is decaying but conservation is also in progress.
Right from the gates you can walk into the hill top and there you can see the history spiling over everywhere. Entrance ticket is 20euro and you can also visit theatre in this ticket.
Beautiful place, besides just the monuments also gives a good view over the city. I'd recommend visiting the Acropolis museum before visiting the hill itself. The Philopappos hill provides a great view from a distance.
The climb is much easier than many make out, it is mostly a slope with about a dozen steps at the end. The main entrance has queues the entrance near the museum did not, buy a combi ticket at one of the lesser sites and walk straight in! The site is worth visiting, but maybe a bit overrated when compared to other world sites.
may this monument serve as a (optional) reminder thet i (dont) know where my thoughts come from...(or do i?)
Awesome place with awesome history.. Special discount for students, don't forget your school/college identity card
During our company (#mindcurv) anniversary event, we got a chance to visit Acropolis and Parthenon which is one of the most famous #ancient #archaeological sites that was built with #limestone rock back in bronze age around 500 BC. It withstood various earthquakes and bombardments from historic wars..but later in 1647 the Romans bombed the Acropolis and decimated Parthenon. The restoration work is happening though since ages!
It's good place to see the architectural brilliance in such an old age like more than 3000 years ago!
Incredible history and experience. Make sure you stop off at the Acropolis Museum where you'll find all the information and ruins / artifacts from the Acropolis itself.
We went during peak (August) and headed up at opening time (8am) which was a good decision as by 9.30 / 10 it was packed and really hot.
Take water and sun cream and wear sensible shoes.
Make sure you walk round the south slope and see the theatre of Dionysus and this is easily miss-able.
Visiting the Acropolis was something I never dreamed I would get a chance to do!!! Walking amongst the ruins was amazing!!! So many places for amazing pictures!!!
Very beautiful view of full city, so clam, fresh and relaxing air, the streets food was very tasty delicious I just loved the food ... I forgot the name where I had food... It was on the way while we were going up for acropolis....
Historic views on top of the city - centuries old culture - architecture reflects power and influence of religious faith!!
Must see. Classic foundations of everything westerners are familiar with. The museum too. Off season discounts are nice. The archeological museum is best for statues and the Acropolis is as good as the Coliseum, if not better, as original cultural artifacts giving way to what we have become familiar with in the modern day.
How can you not come to this place. If you plan on spending a couple of days in Greece then get the pass to visit all the sites. We came late in the day and got to see the Acropolis with not too big of a crowd. Expect to attend about an hour here for pictures.
Great and beautiful. Love it
Don t miss it in the morning
Great, historically important landmark. Always busy. But definitely worth seeing. Reserve at least 2 hours to see it properly.
Incredible experience and another item ticked off the bucket list! Get in early to avoid the tourists, starts to get really packed by 11am! Once up there though the feeling is surreal overlooking a panoramic view of Athens
Amazing place. Incredible! I felt like inside a history book.
Obviously worth a trip. By eck its hot in mid Augist though....
If you are in Athens it s a must see. There isn t too much information around about the history of it so best to go with a tour guide but it s a very good attraction and also offers great view over the whole of Athens. Only 15 minutes walk from Monastiraki which is in central Athens.
Great place to visit. Marvelous photos at the very top of Acropolis with the panorama of the city in the background, besides you can just enjoy wonderful view from the top.
An absolute must when in Athens. Well worth 20 entrance fee. Guided tours are available at an extra cost. Covid restrictions in place and adhered to. Plenty of staff across the sites ensuring visitors Jane an enjoyable and safe visit. An iconic structure overlooking Athens and beyond with fantastic views. It's vast! If your lucky enough, the young friendly black cat who lives at the top of the Acropolis will come and great you!
Wow, astonishing, it's really something out of this world. You can see Athens from above 360 degree.
What can one say other than it's the Acropolis! Amazing Acropolis... Check out the view from the Mount of Mars. Favorite of the locals and if you're lucky enough to experience it on a full moon clear skied night the Mythical Greek gods obviously are smiling down on you. Truly a beautiful place. It was said that there Apostle Paul preached from here.
Outstanding visuals of Ancient Mediterranean Architecture...
Absolutely outstanding! It was positively one of the greatest spectacles that I have ever seen. I would recommend anyone to go and see it.
The Acropolis in Athens is more than just the Parthenon. There are several buildings, temples and theaters on this world-famous hill.
Of course the Parthenon stands out and is the most famous of the hilltop buildings of the Acropolis. But don't rush up there, there's lots else to see and wander around.
We came in through the south entrance close to the Acropolis Museum. A sunny day, no lines at at all at around 10.30am. A better choice than the main entrance.
It's a nice stroll going up to the Parthenon. Some really nice views on the way. And you will also pass the very impressive Theatre of Dionysus Eleuthereus, something you might miss out on, when you enter from the main gate.
The biggest crowds are just a the entrance to the top, around the Statue of Athena Promachos and Propylaea.
Once you're on top, you'll be able to really take in the amazing views of Athens. A very large town, suprisingly big. The Parthenon of course is the heart up here and an eye-catcher. But take your time to wander around and to visit the other sight. Most visitors spend maybe half an hour or so. Pic, Selfie....and they are on their way. It's a shame, because the whole area here is full of history and wonderful architecture. Even though hugely popular, it's well worth a visit. It's busy for a reason.
Fantastic Place!
Did not expect to find such a huge area with so amazing buildings;
And the view of Athens City is breathtaking.
Fabulous to see this great wonder! Dream come true!
Breathtaking views and stunning architectural remains. One of a kind!!
If you visit on a Sunday between the first of November and the 31st of March, the entrance is free. It is of course pretty crowded, but more than enough space for one to check out the beautiful views and of course the Pantheon and the Acropolis. There are vending machinea that sell non-sparkling water for 50 cents, which helps because its quite the clim. Overall an unforgettable experience and I highly recommend visiting if you're in Greece!
The Place was a Demolition Site.
A pile of old ruins and I loved it
An amazing place which gives you the feel of old and ancient Greek Athens. A great view from the Top. Although it's very hot on top, but it's worth a single minute spent there. You can see the open theater of Greek culture and other ancient buildings. The ticket price was 10, which was a little expensive according to me but its obvious they need funds to maintain the site.
How can you not love this place. The only thing is that they should have signs to tell people they cannot bring sweet drinks inside that they charge $5 Euros there and that if you are not European, children has to be pay the entrance fee.
Stunning. A must do when visiting Athens. Birthplace of democracy and Athenian civilastion. So much history and architecture. Strongly recommend exploring with an experienced tour guide.
The Acropolis is amazing!! I will be candid and tell you I didn t want to go. We walked 5 miles a day on this trip and I was tired! Our guide took us anyway and kicked us out of the van and said we had to go. First thing, you see Mars Hill. Paul preached here! It was an easy walk up to the top and you have great views of the city and the Acropolis. Then we went up to the Acropolis. Not a bad walk at all and it is truly amazing up there. You will not regret going.
You couldn't come to Athens and not visit its number one attraction. Amazing views of the whole city too!
Amazing place , highly recommended. Absolutely loved it
Loved touring this. We had Christina as a tour guide and she was fabulous. Came by bus from the Oceania cruise.
20 euros is a large amount that would stand in the heat and look at restored restored. The main part is in the Louvre and London. The Greeks still lost everything and raised the price. It was 8-12 euros. Greedy Greeks!
The acropolis was lovely. By buying a combo ticket for sites in Athens we were able to skip the ticket buying line, and the line to get in once you have tickets was short. The views from the acropolis are amazing, with the ability to see most of Athens. Of course, the monument itself is also spectacular.
The Acropolis is the most important ancient site in the Western world. It stand sentinel over Athens visible from almost everywhere within the city. Its monument and sanctuaries of white Pentelic marble gleam in the midday sun and gradually take on a honey hue as the sun sink. At night they stand brilliantly illuminated above the city.
An amazing historical site witness to the greatness of the greek civilisation . The place is under renovation but one can marvel at then grandeur and the amazing sculptures at the site.
One of the few good spots of history within Athens. You will need your walking shoes because it is definitely a walk. Otherwise Athens is not much eye candy.
It was magical, and so well preserved.... loved it.
Great historical value with lots of sights to see.
Too many scam artists roaming the street offering "free" stuff and then guilt tripping you into making a "donation"
A place with such a special vibe... Even 3rd time, same chills and wonder at every step.
Fantastic ancient monument. Lots to see and excellent views over Athens. It's a steep climb up so not suitable for those with mobility issues or with young children.
Visited here in the morning, it s scenic but incredibly hot and the site offers little shade. Also visited in the afternoon - equally hot! Found that the best time to visit is during the evening when it is cooler, if you time it well you can watch the sunset from the steps and it is incredible as you can see the city expanding before you while the Sun sets behind the hills.
Fun fact: the flag is erected at sunrise and taken down at sunset so you are also able to watch the flag being taken down at sunset - see the pictures.
Does this really need a review? Plan on wind and hot sun in the summer. Go before 9am to avoid the crowds. The ticket line was 50 deep by 11am. Download Rick Steve's free audio tour before you arrive. Listen first, marvel at the sites, then start photographing. The gate near the Theater of Dionysus will be easier to avoid crowds, but still has a line by mid morning in the summer.
I dont know but i was little child when i was coming here first time 1985 jun and after long time 2015 coming here and now 2020 jan..but i love Greece
We had a great time here, absolutely stunning, how wonder someone build it at 5th century BC at a hilltop, magnificent .... suggest you get in early morning , it s so crowed , so many tour ... after your visit , find a cafe nearby which have a view at the acropolis... sit and enjoy the view.. it will make your day..
Magic place. Obviously it is one of the best places in Athens. Personally I recommend it for everyone. Child strollers are not allowed, need to leave it near entrance. Great place for whole family.
Amazing place, nice architecture, perfect nature around, best in Greek culture
Not to be missed. I would recommend a guided tour. It's even more impressive when you understand the history. We did a small group tour with a company called with locals. Totally worth it.
Amazing experience seeing one of the reasons for the founding of the Greek state in 1833, the restoration of this place! Outstanding work that has been done to rebuild it to what it is now. I won't spoil with too many pictures.
Nice place to visit but the services are not that much good comparing with this kind of places
Very nice area, with great views of the surrounding town. Little steep on the price at 10 for just the Acropolis, and no beverages allowed inside. But really good overall. All the signs were in both Greek and English.
The greatest, the best place that I've ever visited. Magnificent!
Underwhelming due to the insane amount of scaffolding, exposed / parked heavy machinery (orange forklift parked for no reason next to a temple for instance), and limited access to many areas. Perhaps because I went off-season, but there didn't seem to be much work going on either.
Surreal feeling being in a place where legends were born... Stunning views. Well worth the walk up. Wear comfortable non slip shoes as it is quite slippery on the marble stones
Get here before the tour buses start arriving at 8:30 and you won t be disappointed. We got in line for tickets at 7:45 (they open at 8) and were able to enjoy being some of the first people up there in the morning. Special experience.
Sharing the best shots, you have to experience this by yourself.
The Acropolis of Athens is an ancient citadel located on a rocky outcrop above the city of Athens and contains the remains of several ancient buildings of great architectural and historic significance, the most famous being the Parthenon. It is a must-visit place. We went on a Sunday and it was for free. Apparently, every first Sunday from every month between November and match the ticket will be for free. So enjoy it!
Great ruins and very well preserved. I recomend too have water on you because there is a lot to see. The view is incredible and totally worth seeing it.
Number 1 landmark in Athens. If you came to this city for the 1st time, it's a must. I wonder how many centuries it will take to finish fixing Parthenon. I was on this hill 10 years ago and couldn't spot any progress in reconstruction efforts since then.
The most beautiful place in Athens, also expensive one. I would sugest to get there befire 8 in the morning, it's not so hot and also you will be able to see flag raise ceremony which is additional entertainment.
Amazing view over the beautiful city of Athens. Definitely must visit place in Athens. The architecture and buildings are spectacular.
I would recommend to visit this place in early hrs or late evening. During the day the place gets really busy and you might need to experience waiting time to buy a tickets and also big crowd will spoil the experience and some great shots which you might be hunting for!
Copyrights are reserved to danish my friend and dslr rights are to my own : canon mark 5d ........
Great day out exploring what is left from the ancient world. Make sure you dress in comfortable and cool clothing as there is lots of walking involved, steps, steep areas and some parts that are poorly maintained so definitely wear trainers.
A very majestic place, and every tourist probably visits the temple, so definitely a place not to miss. Suggestion, buy tickets online and visit after the heat has gone, best time to visit perhaps after 5pm. You should visit the Acropolis museum beforehand; not only will you get info about Acropolis, but you can wait out the heat
It was so hot when we went but I am glad we did. Incredible to see ancient history up close. They are very strict about not touching the marble!
Glorious to see and definitely worth visiting. Quite easily to walk up and accessible too, better with covid restrictions to ensure people around one way system
Amazing sight to see. But watch them marble steps, they are super slippery even on a hot summer day.
Nice historical place. Went there Monday after orthodox Easter and it was crowded because the place was closed the day before. I would recommend to buy tickets online so you skip the ticket line.
Popular tourist attraction, still, pure necessity to visit over and over again. The great work has been done to keep the Acropolis in good condition. Take a trip to ancient Greece.
The most beautiful place in Athens !! Very crowded in September . Don t recommend in summer time . Make sure you have comfortable shoes .. slippery Well organized buying tickets. I noticed it was hard for ppl on wheelchairs . There were ramps around the area.
Amazing place to visit. Hard to believe how long ago this was built.
So the actual Acropolis is amazing, of course! But the experience overall was a tad frustrating at times. Now we did a lot of research and there were still things we did not know.
First, you have to find an entrance, which aren t super obviously labeled. There s two, the one by Dionysus theater is less crowded and an easier walk to the top.
Then you walk up a low grade slope to the gates. Outside the gates there is a refreshment stand, it s SUPER overpriced and they fail to mention that you cannot bring anything except your small bag, and a water (which the stand only had sparkling) inside the gates. Had to chug a warm red Powerade at 8 am.
Then you walk into the gates and immediately there s 6 0,5 water vending machines.
I read a lot about how hard of a climb it was and none of us felt it was difficult.
It was also CRAZY windy at the top, like they don t let you get to close to the edges because they fear you ll blow off the side, it was that windy. I m not sure if that s typical though.
Definitely worth it if you re in Athens.
