Great place with history. The downside is that there are few places with shadow, so in a hot summer day, I would recommend that you go early in the morning

Very interesting place. We visited as part of a walking tour
It's hard to describe how such an important place is located right in the centre of the city. The Acropolis, its surrounding buildings and museum are really a must if you visit Greece. If you want a complete experience, joining a guided visit will give further insight on how the different structures were build and what is there historical value. Guided visits are given many languages.
Stunning, visit the museum across the street before exploring to get the full scope of what you are looking at. Amazing view of the city from the top. Add the acropolis to your bucket list.
Athens, Greece sounds like God's City. A wonderful place must to see. World' heritage.
Stunning monument. Be aware of a huge crowd and waiting line. Toilets are dirty
It is not just the view of Athens, it is just magnificent view of Acropolis, especially if you know the history. You can enjoy in all the architecture and structures of those buildings and everything that is around. And as I waited long in a ticket row, there was not such a crowd
one of the most important piece of history in the world :)
If you are in Athens you certainly visit this archeological wonder. I have been here before - almost 12 years ago and things have improved a lot. It is under restoration already for decades and may take few more to complete. Look at the theater on your right as you go up. Strongly recommended.
Amazing views from the top of the climb, the Pantheon was pretty cool to see but there was a large amount of scaffolding and regeneration work going on at the time. Was also very busy, even in October.
Always a joy to come back here. But first time coming here on a national holiday when the tickets are free and throngs of people were also here. Very intense!
What an amazing place. I definitely recommend seeing the Acropolis of Athens. Gets really windy up there,so I suggest you hold on to your sunhat . 20 for entry and 10 during the months November-March.
Under reconstruction. Improved since past visits over past 50 years. Be aware: limited handicap access (aka construction elevator) and marble on walkways is extremely slick. Got a heart condition?... Skip it.
Great looking not a lot of standing buildings what does stand is kept nicely. A nice view spot of Athens
Just amazing. You can see it from every angle looking up but you have to actually go all the way up. The view is amazing and walking around gives you a feel of Ancient Greece
Get here early or book tickets in advance. You will not want to have to stand in a queue as there's no shade and they can be very long!! The views are amazing though. You could spend a couple of hours there minimum.
I love exploring this site. Line up for ticket was long and cost 30 Euro to have access to all 7 sites. I am glad i bought some snacks snd a good comfy sneaker.
The Acropolis of Athens is an ancient citadel located on a rocky outcrop above the city of Athens and contains the remains of several ancient buildings of a great architectural and historic significance, the most famous being the Pantheon. Athens a beautiful city full of history, good food and vibes, nice and warm people. I definitely it as holiday destination.
What a unick
and Magnificent monument History alive...!!
Beautiful historic place, that looks even better in real life. Good sunset spot
Amazing views of Athens, was a bright sunny day so shades and a hat are a must! Lots of tourists as you can see by the photos, food and drink are very expensive too so perhaps you could byo. My husband and I took the city sightseeing bus here and the times were quite regular. The structures here are beautiful!
Mo words can do this stunning place and monument justice. No words can describe the overwhelming feelings of being on that wonderful hill!
Fantastic views over the city and interesting to learn about the history of the place. Signage was a little lacking and I thought the free map wasn't particularly useful. An improvement would be to add some details about the Greek gods and goddesses.
cradle if civilization! breathtaking view if you can just overlook the so called modern city buildings and crowds. the night view is even more spectacular
It is hard to say anything new about one of the world's most popular tourist attraction. A good advise: take your time to read the information tables and Google a bit about the people who built this wonder.
Wear your walking shoes get water and use the restroom before you start... lots of walking
This was the main thing I wanted to see during my vacation in Greece and it was definitely worth the hype. The tour I took with this was very informative and really made the trip more worthwhile. If you go here I really reccomend a tour guide.
Beautiful historic piece of Athens. Also recommend visiting the acropolis museum to see the sculptures that once adorned the Parthenon and were on the acropolis. Wear good grippy shoes as the marble is worn smooth and can be quite slippery. A guidebook would also be great so you know what you are looking at .
Iconic and monumental. A place to visit. Hope the reconstructions complete fast so I can visit it again.
It's breathtakingly beautiful. So much history. Not too crowded.
Just wow. Do the museum/a tour first, makes more sense of what you're looking at. 20 in. But honestly breathtaking.
An amazing historical site. Go as early in the day as you can. Walking to the top via the North slope is steep, and has a lot of steps, but you get the best views and photo opportunities. The terrain is uneven at the top, and wheelchair access will be limited, despite there being a (precarious-looking) lift available. Expect there to be renovation or conservation work underway on your visit!
Stunning beyond words! Truly a sight to behold!
It's not as crowded in winter and over the weekends.
The Acropolis of Athens is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the most important archaeological site in Greece. This historic collection is a national symbol for the people of this country.
The three main mansions are the Acropolis, the Parthenon, the Arctic and the Temple of Athena Nike. The Parthenon literally means "virgin apartment" and was dedicated to the goddess Athena, known as the patroness of Athens. Arcticus, said to be at the holiest corner of the Acropolis Hill, was the place where all sacred rituals associated with the goddess Athena and Poseidon or Poseidon (the god of the seas in Greek mythology) took place. The Athena Nike Temple is also a field structure with Greek Ionian architecture, located on the southwestern edge of the Acropolis Hill. Interestingly, the statue of the goddess of victory (Athena) in this temple depicts her as the fertility god.
It's very beautiful at night. This was the view form my hotel. Also got to see it in the day time with a walking tour. Very beautiful
It was quicker for the ancient Greeks to build this than the modern Greeks to 'repair' it. To get in you pay the price of a good dinner, getting a ticket from one of the rude Greek staff, and wander about wondering just how this once great civilization collapsed into a kind of barely functioning pirate state. So sad.
Amazing place! Btw, people from EU under 25 yo have free entrence!
Same place, same person - 50 years of time between these two shots. Yes, I first visited the Acropolis in 1969 as a young man and revisited with my wife in 2019.
Only a handful of tourists back then but today huge numbers visit this incredible place built in 500bc!
Despite this the helpful and friendly tour guides guarding the monument allowed me to cross over the ropes to sit in the identical spot as 50 years earlier, a somewhat unsettling feeling - and that was before I saw the photo!
When you think about Greece, this probably is the first image that pops in your head. I don t want to look biased but I have to tell you that if you visit Athens this place is a MUST!!! You will definitely not regret visiting this place!! It is a long way up but the jaw dropping views will definitely reward you!!!
Great place!!! The entrace is 20 eur for the Acropolis and 30 eur for all the atractions that are around. It's very big, very hot and sunny, if you have the option take a hat and also water with you. The view is really amazing, like you're on the top of the world. This place is not to be missed if you are going to Athens!
It's a very beautiful place, good for everyone, the ticket it's not so expensive, you can visit ALL the ancient part of Athens (The Parthenon, the Agora..) and all the history museums. It's a "must" when you came to visit Athens!
I would recommend to going to the top of Acropolis the view was amazing and the history was great and well!
It was really great and as a history lover, I found it awesome. Our tour guide was amazing. Only thing to be cautious if going during summer months, it is extremely hot. I saw some people not being able to finish the tour. Otherwise, wear comfortable sneakers, and bring lots of water
one of the must sees when in Athens with gorgious vistas around
Must go. Very BIG greek temple on the mountain top. Highly recommendable to wear nice shoes, there are a lot of polished marbled floor everywhere, its really slippery.
Beautiful and majestic . Wear athletic shoes at all costs.
Simply beautiful. A perfect day spent in Athens and the Acropolis was the highlight of the trip. Breathtaking!
High potential ...zero effort ... to make the experience of the poore tourist positive ( full of construction structures ) no shade ..no good historical explanation boards ! ( 20 entry...not worthy this ticket )
Great place to see Athens from high up. A must see in Athens. 10 euro to enter
I am not the biggest fan of these kind of sights. But must admit that here are actually impressive stuff to see. Not all left for you imagination. :-)
Must to visit. I love acropolis from inside outside any side. It's spectacular. Wherever I'm in Athens Im admire that place from New Point of view. Ah.... Go and see
Amazing! This is a must see place in Greece! There is so much history. Highly recommend this. Get the multiple site pass for 30 as you can get into other attractions (Temple of Zeus) as part of the deal
You can only imagine what an amazing place it was when the Acropolis was completed and full of life.
Today, those times are only reminiscent of ruins. Which Greece is only very slowly trying to return to that original majesty.
An amazing place to reconnect to our ancient European roots. Place can be very slippery so wear proper shoes. There is virtually no place to get water so organise your later with plenty to drink as you climb up.
Great historical place to visit, but don t go in the middle of summer
Well worth the visit if it's the only thing you do in Athens allow yourself a good half day if you want to see everything and try and get a tour guide or hang onto some ones guide allow good footware if the weather is wet
Unfortunately very busy, as expected but it does take away from the experience a little. Incredible and worth the walk up though
In January great weather for sightseeing, fewer people, calmer contact with ancien architecture
Very impressive and historic place. See the pics to get a feeling by your own. It is definitely a must-have-been-done-task.
Such an awesome experience walking and taking in the ruins.
My dream came true! What a superb monument. So excited!!!
Amazing and surreal being there. While the pillars themselves were clearly the highlight, I almost preferred the incredible view from above, with Greek flag flying proudly. Could spend hours just hanging out up there! It's an easy path up but bring water with you.
The price is worth the experience, as the view of Athens is beautiful and unlike any other. The areas on the acropolis are great historical monuments that aren t as packed during early morning hours. Make sure to utilize all the paths around the area and see the lower portions to find great views of the acropolis above.
Amazing historical landmark that you just visit atleast ince in your life. The walk up isnt that bad
Very nice place to see. The history is awesome. Too much construction going on at the time I was there and lots of people. A bit over priced in my opinion. I prefer Meteora. The sun can be brutal so go when there are clouds in the sky or a cool day. I do wish I would have spent the $30 and did the entire experience
Feb is a good time to visit! Lovely day for the uphill walk but not too many people!
Beautiful!
A must do when in Athens
Really hard place to walk around and poorly organised as far as getting into the place. Not really worth the visit. Prefer Italian sites. Better organised
If you're up early and on the site at the 8am opening of the gates, you're rewarded by being able to quietly watch the workers reconstruction efforts of this historic temple. And as a bonus... There won't be anyone else in your photos! By 9h30am, the moment was lost and the crowds were 3 people deep everywhere...
There are few places in the world that would deserve 10 stars. This would be one of them. Ground zero for Western science, philosophy, and democracy symbolized by one of the most iconic and masterful monuments in architecture. A glorious history, a heartbreaking backstory of decay and pillaging, a hopeful tale of survival over twenty five centuries. Visit when they open the site at nights with a full moon as well as on a sunny day and get a taste of what it was like to roam along Pericles and Socrates. The views of Athens from the rock are breathtaking.
Outstanding site. An incredible momument that stood throughout thousands of years.
Ancient part of Athens. If you are visiting, you must go there. Breathtaking view from the top of the Acropol. Better to go there in the morning early hours, because later there is a lot of People.
Go before 9am and preferably as soon as it opens. Unless you're in a massive tour group, then please arrive much later on to let the rest of us enjoy it without you there. We arrived at 8:30 on a Monday and it was ok, but quickly got very busy. Anyway, it's essential.
The historical. Amazing and I made it to the top. Views are breathtaking.
Parthenon...most visited attraction in Athens....Lovely views of the city....
The scorching heat of the end of August and the floods of people didn't ruin the beautiful experience of visiting this awesome place.
